BEWARE: KitchenAid/Whirlpool/Kenmore does not stand behind their products. Short Version: I have an expensive counter depth KitchenAid refrigerator that is 2.5 years old (still paying for it) that I have to replace because it has been diagnosed as non-repairable. I spent much effort jumping through hoops for KitchenAid/Whirlpool Customer Support, only to be told that I should have got an extended warranty. Long Version: Problem: NON-REPAIRABLE Refrigerator - Broken wire in cabinet. Product: KitchenAid 25 cu.ft. refrigerator (Model #:KSCS25FVMK01) Age of Appliance: 2.5 years old (still paying for it) It started out as an intermittent problem with the ice/water dispenser going out. It quickly escalated to the ice/water dispenser, ice maker, and defrost heater completely going out. It took almost a month, 3 service technician and 3 computer boards to diagnose the problem. A broken neutral wire in the cabinet that cannot be fixed. I called KitchenAid to let them know that an non-repairable 2.5 year old refrigerator is unacceptable. KitchenAid/Whirlpool customer support would not even listen to my problem until I had a Authorized KitchenAid Repair company look at the refrigerator. I purchased all my KitchenAid and Kenmore appliances from Sears so I have been going through Sears Home Services (A&E Factory Services) for repair service. I was told by KitchenAid Customer Support that Sears Home Services (A&E Factory Services) are not KitchenAid Authorized??? 4 phone calls and a few hours later I could not convince KitchenAid custom support otherwise so I gave up and had Kitchen Customer Support schedule a service repair for me. I take yet another half day off of work and who shows up to verify that my non-repairable refrigerator is truly non-repairable but A&E Factory Services (same company as the previous service calls). Conclusion, Yes it is non-repairable. I called KitchenAid Customer Support the next day to verify they had all the information they needed to review the case. They said it would be reviewed in 5 business days. I called them 5 days later to find out that the case still did not get reviewed. I called back 5 days later to find out the case was never up for review but I was assured it would be reviewed in the next 24 hours. I called back in 2 days to find out that they did not have the technical data they needed. Here is where I am a little confused because I was speaking with Barbara who said it was rejected by the review committee because of lack of technical data. I was then passed off to the supervisor, Debbie (ID #3277) who told me that there was nothing they could do about it. I should have purchased the extended warranty. I never dreamed that I would be replacing my refrigerator before I finished paying for it. Thanks for the "KitchenAid/Whirlpool Customer Experience"!
I purchased KitchenAid Double Wall Oven and had it installed in January, 2012. The oven is pretty and seemed to work all right, except for a loud clicking when operated at temps of 400 or thereabouts. The trouble came when I used the self-cleaning option for the first time on Easter Sunday. About an hour into the self-cleaning process and while I was standing at the kitchen sink, I heard an explosion and glass spurted out from underneath the oven door and scattered around my kitchen. I was quite frightened. I called the fire department and was assured there was not fire in the walls. I also have contacted KitchenAid 3 times since and have been told that my warranty is "repair only" and so the repair to be done (not accomplished yet, for reasons on the dealer side) will be the door only, despite the fact that the root cause may be quite another thing. I was also told by customer service (very nicely) that perhaps I ought to use the self-cleaning option only every 90 days. There is more to the story, but enough for now. I am worn out with the whole saga. I have also found a number of others on the net who share my experience. I don't know about you, but I expect a self-cleaning oven to self-clean safely, no matter how many times I use the option. The manual does not warn of such problems.
Customer service is awful. Purchased a kitchenaid stand mixer and the beater doesn't fit onto the shaft easily. I wanted it replaced and they are giving me the run around about why did I wait till just now to report it. What oil did I use to oil the thing. They want me to purchase a new one. It is still under warranty. Don't recommend purchasing a kitchenaid anything with their customer service.
We purchased a double oven had it installed in december 2011. I used the self cleaning cycle in febuary it melted the plastic on the lock latch who has ever heard of putting plastic in a self cleaning oven. I called the repair department got it fixed cleaned it again wow melted the plactic latch again. then cleaned the bottome oven the glass blew up in it blew glass all over my house after smoking it up and the oven was clean when i tried this. I just wanted to see the the same peice would melt again. Now all i get it we can replace the parts. My idea is after it blew up who wants it in the house. I will not never buy another one again.
KitchenAid has the worst customer service. Its funny how they can build a company with a strong brand and good products and then let hourly outsourced phone reps handle the customers. I have six appliances, we have had our frustrations with the ice maker- our system is 6 years old and we have replaced the pump twice. The other appliances have had minimal problems. Our Built In refrigerator just started making noises so we had to make a call to get service. I really wish I had not. What a horrible experience. I remember when companies were happy to help customers and they provided value. KitchenAid/Whirlpool did nothing but upset me, make me lose more confidence in their company and the people who run it. I would strongly urge future buyers to NOT purchase KitchenAid/Whirlpool as you will eventually have to work with their service/customer support department.
Purchased kitchenAid refrigerator w/ bottom freezer & double doors . It stopped working the first day. After a couple of service calls it was attributed to a board failure. The board was replaced but didn't correct the problem. The dealer replaced the fridge after a couple of weeks but gave us a small loaner. Purchased a DW at same time and became very frustrated with the sensitivity of front control panel. Settings would unknowingly change when in operation and were difficult to reprogram. When it was fixed it was attributed to a defective door latch and controls. Also purchased KitchenAid gas stove at same time. The seldom used oven now has grease between
The adjustable slicing blade on your (model KFP1333CUO) KITCHEN AID 13 cup FOOD PROCESSOR has a design defect which requires a general recall of the product because replacing the blade with an equally flawed blade will not solve the design problem. The floating arm that is riveted to the cutting blade is made of plastic and breaks under normal operating pressure exerted against the blade during slicing process. The weak point is between the blade riveted plastic and the other end which is an eye hole that flouts up and down on the center spindle with no more than 1/4 thickness of what appears to be untempered white plastic. Has there been a modification recently to correct this part problem and if not why??? Your answer to this will determine if I mount a web page of warning on the product in the interest of the public.
Purchased a Kitchenaid KFCS22EVBL00 Refrigerator, french doors, freezer on the bottom. Great looking appliance but the vibrating noise coming from the thing is deafing, to the point we have to turn up the TV when the motor comes on. Have had 3 service calls and all the techs have said it is a vibration from the motor being too close to a metal plate. First tech placed rubber grommets in the space to muffle the noise, worked for a short time. Second tech tried to convince me that all refrigerators made noise. After much discussion I told him he was not leaving until he did some thing about the noise, so out came the rubber grommets. The noise was back as soon as I moved the refrigerator to clean behind it. Third tech stuffed corrugated cardboard in between, but the noise is back. Kitchenaid is aware of the problem as each tech stated. Do they really care? NO! Well, I have an extended warranty, so I will continue to call them back again, again and again.
I purchased a kitchenaid refrigerator stove and microwawe 3 years ago .last week I have 2 cracks on the liner inside the fridge.Today i have a lot of them - 26.This is cheap material.that many cracks on 2 walls is not reparable. They like to fix with epoxy glue drill the holes and glue the pieces of plastic - this is crazy. The serviceman told to me this epoxy gonna fall out from walls after 2 maybe 3 years anyway but this gonna be after my warranty.I called to costumer service few times and last time manager told to me :refrigerator never gonna be replaced with any problems everything is reparable........my english language is not good maybe this is the reason why they do not wanna help me to fix this problem, but i am not gonna buy new refrigerator every 3 years this was to expensive.I think this is good brand but kithenaid and service from them is like s..t
Bought Kitchaid side-by-side refrigerator with deli feature Aug 2009; the water dispenser became very hard to press; was told by store that this was normal ware on product and just press harder; a few days ago my young son tried to put glass cup to get his water and pressing harder, cup exploded -- deep cut to his right thumb and 30% severed tendon has my poor little one with five stitches and a plastic surgeon consult. Be careful with this type of water dispensing system - I trusted Kitchenaid to be top quality to ensure my family's safety -- I wish I had looked at these reviews before purchasing their products.
My dad bought a kitchen Aide dish rack that after you wash them you're self there suppose to fit any size dishes to dry before they get put away it is not doing that. We got it is at Costco. We both tried to get the number for you guys so that we can explain our situation. Please contact me at thomas.mcdonald77.tm@gmail.com thanks.
We researched appliances before deciding on the highly rated Kithen Aid Appliances. Unless Kitchen Aid steps up to the plate, after reading this, I will never buy another Kitchen Aid appliance or an appliance made by Whirlpool. I have a freestanding gas stove. Within 3 months of using it, the ceramic on the grates began to bubble. Thinking that the burners were not adjusted right, we had a tech come work on the stove. I ordered two more grates for the stove....$200+. Within 4 weeks the same thing happened. I called the service department who told me they would not back their grates. I asked for a manager and was told there weren't any available. No supervisors no managers. They washed their hands of the whole thing. Managers if you read this, there are several web sites and class action suits about your appliances. Do you not realize that word of mouth for a bad or defective products impacts your bottom line significantly? I now need to buy more grates. You have defective grates!!
We remodeled our kitchen in Sept 2011 and based on reputation, price and reviews we chose Kitchenaid. Every appliance arrived with either dents or scratches and KitchenAid would not respond because the 30 day warranty was up which was due to delays in construction. The oven door problem was very clearly due to a manufacturer defect and they still refused to replace it. I've been told that it's normal to expect dents and scratches in stainless steel. Normal for who? Does quality no longer count? Now my built-in microwave door will not open. I've been scheduled for a service call but after reading the above reviews, I don't have much faith in this company. I doubt that I will buy KitchenAid in the future
I've had my oven, Kitchenaid Superba for about 8 years and spent $1500 on it. It currently will not clean itself because the latch is broken. Kitchenaid has discontinued the part (9750523) and this is incredibly disappointing! I can't find it anywhere including you the manufacturer. We're purchasing a new home this year. How could I possibly recommend or buy another whirlpool or kitchenaid product when you don't even support your own merchandise?! I've only cleaned the oven twice and it's broken and needed repair both times! That aside, if I could fix it - then there would not be a problem. This is not OK and very disconcerting as I've wasted hours of my time on this.
Just bought a new KitchenAid french door with deli drawer and bottom freezer refrigerator. It RUNS constantly and when it is not running, it is making a hissing and banging sound! 3 repair people out in 3 months - all referrals from store of purchase - so of course, all will say nothing is wrong! I wish I had my 18 year old refrigerator back and wasn't upgrading the kitchen!!
"Hoping to return with a better review!" Just got off the phone with KitchenAid customer service for the fourth time! Bought a washer 4 years ago, and for the most part have been happy with it. Product not the problem, KitchenAid being a company that backs it's products is! 3 weeks ago my washer failed. When I called to have it repaired KitchenAid said I had to pay to have one of their "certified techs" come out to fix my machine. It was stated that this was because their tech would call from the field to let them know their findings. While in my home the tech stated to me that my machine, in his professional opinion, was missing a reinforcing brace FROM THE FACTORY that caused the spring holding the tub to rip thru the metal, dropping the tub crushing the motor. He said this was a workmanship issue and should be covered by the warranty! KitchenAid, as of now, is refusing to take responsibility for selling me a faulty/incomplete product. I'm not even asking for a brand new machine. I'd take a referbished model, or mine being fixed. I've been given the run around and I am waiting to hear from them hoping they will make this right. I would love to come back to this site in a day or two with a revised review of a positive nature, if not I will return with the conclusion either way!
to Caroline K and her KA dishwasher issues: Kitchenaid is owned by Whirlpool Corp and many issue with dishwasher catching on fire from the control circuit board. check out website kitchenaid firesor google it be safe
I purchased a Kitchen Aid Range and had problems from day one with the oven. Finally Lowes replaced the range with a second new Kitchen Aid range. We've had nothing but problems with it. The oven does not hold temperature, it cuts out when pre-heating, when you turn it on there's an odor of gas. I will never purchase another Kitchen Aid appliance again - large or small.
We bought a Kitchenaid top of line over under fridge/freezer when we build new house in 2002. It has been trouble for last three years. Kitchen aid/ whirlpool customer service is a JOKE. They do not give any service just lip service. I had a tech person call to get help and they wont give help unless you are a "qualified" rep by KA. I had one of there reps out from D3 appliance repair in colorado springs. I dont think the guy could spell his name. After 5 minutes told me the unit could not be fixed to buy a new one. Right, a $5000. unit and I am going to throw it away. Kitchenaid/whirlpool is not what they used to be. They SUCK big time. Six moths ago my mother bought a whirlpool washer and dryer. The washer is a total piece of CRAP. This company is resting on they laurals of old--they only make JUNK today. Then they will not help to get it fixed.
I purchased a KitchenAid hard silicon trivet to use as protection under hot casseroles and dishes. The mesh pattern on the "feet" burned into our beautiful new wood kitchen table top. It cost us $75 to have the furniture man repair it. Fortunately, the table top looks almost as good as new. The trivet is going out in the trash. It was a very expensive lesson--stick with the older, tried and true materials!
