I am amazed at how many people have the same experience of unprofessionalism from this company. I too have had the same situations of trying to return things, with tags attached and a receipt and been met with difficulty. What is really surprizing is that it does seem to be a common thread with the A and F stores. I happen to travel to ones in PA and also MD and the attitude is always as though they are doing us a favor by ringing up the order. I wished my kids did not like their clothes. The only good thing is the quality of clothes is good and long lasting. I have put in a complaint with headquarters today as for the first time I happened to talk with someone in customer service who was very helpful and understanding of my concerns. I can agree that working with the public can be a challange but after reading these comments its seems to be a similar complaint. Ava, I am sure your experience was good, and I can say that most likely their are some good stores, but I can tell by the several stores I have shopped that they are not taught the value of customer service.
I have placed an order as a surprise gift to my daughter shipped to her address on 12/26/2010. The package was received yesterday on 1/3/2011 with a incorrect shipped item enclosed. I was called by my daughter inquiring about the order to find out not only her confusion but my disappointment that my surprised was ruined. I called customer service returns right away and spoke with "Adam" who addressed the issue and admitted to the error. I was asked to send the item back which I did the very next day using the smart label (which I guess normally would be charged to my account and credited) but I was told wouldn't be because it was their error and it would be waived from the start. I was also told that "NOTHING" pertaining to the mix up was going to be charged to my account. yet to my surprise after a second call not only was I told the label cost of 7.95 would be charged before it would be credited but that so would the re-order of the dress. It wasn't a re-order it was a correction to the companies mistake. I wasn't making any return by my choice they made that choice for me by shipping the wrong item. I asked twice to make sure that I was "NOT" going to be impacted in any way beyond the inconvenience which has already been put upon me and the surprise for my daughter being spoiled. So I took the representatives word in trust and passed the mistake off as an acceptable error with no harm done, BUT now all that has changed because there has infact been a negative effect on me and my account. I was charge for a dress twice that was never received once. Where is it in this situation where the company takes responsibility for the error and stands by what their customer service representatives say whether it was right or wrong and respect the customer. I did nothing wrong here unless it's considered that being a customer is the wrong choice! I can honestly say that as a customer I certainly don't
g'naie of dallas, TX October 25, 2010 I was in the Abercrombie Kids at NorthPark Center Mall in Dallas, TX last night around 6pm and the manager (Elizabeth); OH my GOD she is so Arrogant and Rude to Customers and absolutely UNPROFESSIONAL. She has a mouth that even a good bar of soap can not clean. She does not know how to talk around her customers or handle any of her customers at all. I have been a loyal customer of your Abercrombie & Fitch store and Hollister Store. I only come in this store because of my Kids, they want the clothes that are sold there, so I come, I have seen this manager Elizabeth many times be rude to customers in the store and tell them off. Your other two stores they have it going on but not Abercrombie Kids at all. They have a young guy working there that my kids do not like him at all. They tell me mommy this guy is so rude and he scares us because of his smell that he has. My kids said mommy he stinks like he never takes a bath. So I looked to see what my kids were talking about and it is so true he stinks and he clothes are dirty. While we were in the store they both disappeared for a few minutes and left the store unattended. Anyone could have walked out with clothes and no one would have known anything. So my kids went running about the store looking for someone to help me and they heard and saw the manager and that guy in the back room making funny noises. So my kids ran to get me and told me mommy come here and see what the yare doing. My kids are not that old to know exactly what they were doing but they said that they hear a sound and saw they wresting each other, so like a dummy I went over to see what they were talking about and to my shock I could hear and see them groining each other in the back room. Her hands all over him and his hands all over her. When they saw me they stopped and came out of the back room. She asked me if I was ready to check out, all I could do was just throw the clothes on the floor that I was going to purchase and left the store with my Kids. My God this lady needs to be fired because if you want to fool around do it on you're off time and not during store hours and when customers are in the store. We were the only ones in the store at the time.
tekshawanna of dallas, TX October 5, 2010 The manager (Elizabeth) is so rude and does not respect the customers at all and talks down to the customers all the time. The employee Jeremiah is always smells his clothes they are stinky and dirty. But him and his manager are always touching each other in front of the customers in the store. What I mean in touching their butts and her hands on always touching his groin area and he is touching her front area. It is discussing to see, I have brought to their attention several times and they both just laugh at me. I have kids and I have to keep them out of the store now because of the stuff that is going on in the store. They keep it so very dark in the store that you can not see anything at all you bump into the tables that they have the clothes on and it is so tight in the store you have no room to walk around. I am looking for another store in the area to shop at, because I am tired of see the type of mess where a manager and employee fool around with each other during duty hours and around customers and do not care at all.
I was in the store on Sunday 26 Dec 2010 at the North Park Centernal Mall in Dallas TX at the Abercrombie & Fitch adult store. I did not if it is OK for a Abercrombie employee to be stoned out of their mind while working with customers. I mean you can tell by the black guy eyes were all shinny and bloodshot. Plus she clothes smells of weed. Just wanted to know if your company aloud the company employee to do this type of drug while working on the job. it is not right and it is unprofessional as an employee. Filling a complaint against this store to your Headquarters

on 26 Dec 2010 there was is an employee skinny black guy that he is always stoned when you see him at the store while i am shopping. i am not a pot head but this guy is, you can tell because of his eyes and his clothes smell of weed. the manager knows that he is smoking and that he is stoned and they do nothing about it at all. this is the Abercombie & fitch store in dallas tx at the north park central mall. again this guy they call him jerm he is always dirtly looking and again always smells of weed and when you look at him you can tell that he is high and that is just no way to run a business at all. he needs to be fired as well as the boss of the store needs to be fired too for letting someone work around customers that way.
I purchased items online in december 2009 for xmas. I also recieved a regular 50$ e-giftcard. This did not have the words "PROMOTIONAL" written on it anywhere, nor did it have an EXPIRATION DATE on it ANYWHERE. I had misplaced it for awhile, then recently had found the giftcard. Seeing there was no expiration date on it, and nothing to indicated that this was a promotional giftcard, I tried to make a purchase with it. They had told me it was invalid. I made a complaint online, they responded that it had been redeemed on Feb 2, 2010. I made another complaint stating that this was impossible as I had misplaced it in my 2010 income tax box. they responded now that this card expired. I complained that the giftcard had no expiration date on it, and that their policy regarding e-giftcard that become dormant due to non use can be reinstated, and this was my wishes. They responded to me that this was a promotional giftcard. I further complained that this did not state that this was promotional nor that it had an expiration date on it as do the promotional e-giftcards with an expiration date that i have in my email box that expires jan 29 2011 from my purchases I placed this December 2010. This is a regular 50$ e-giftcard, not promotional, no words promotional on it anywhere, and no expiration date. They wont reinstate the card. They are claiming that even though there is no promotional written on it anywhere or there is no expiration date on it, that it had in fact expired Feb 1, 2010, because I recieved it for making purchases online. And did not purchase it outright. If there is o expiration date on it, and it does not say promotional on it. Then it is a regular 50$ e-giftcard, and they should honor it. but seeing all the complaints made about A&F. Im going to the better business bureau.
Went on a recent trip to New York was so excited and couldnt wait to visit the masiive A&F flagship on fifth avenue.... SUCH A LET DOWN the staff were extremley rude, one guy even shouted at me for looking among jumpers for my size and like we consumers pay his wages.I spent well over a $1000 in that store only down to the fact i like the clothes not the staff, i even asked one girl sorry airhead had she anymore of a certain type of cardigan to her reply all sold out ha ha she never even looked i found them and lots of them on another floor .... so please abercrombie sort your staff out or lose out .......
I love the clothes from A&F, they are not expensive, they are good quality, and I like the styling. I have had some of their clothes for years and they look new. The people are always willing to help me, and have found me some of my favorite outfits before. I have never been ripped off like some people apparently have. I don't get why people say so many negative things about it. It's one of my favorite stores.
During the Christmas Holiday Season last week I received approx. a dozen e mails from Abercrombie about the 50 % jeans sale, the sale dates being Dec. 26th & 27th. This morning of Dec. 27th I sent an e mail to Abercrombie asking if they could extend the sale due to 12 to 18 inches of snow we had.I didn't think I would be able to get my car out today.I rec'd an e mail back this morning stating they were sorry they could not extend the sale," but there will be other sales so as not to worry.I was able to clean off my car and drove to the Walt Whitman Mall in Huntington Station on Long Island, upon arrival, much to my dismay the store was closed, I sat there in the mall for 2 hours waiting for them to open, they never did.I have been a good customer for many years, why couldn't they extend the sale for one day?????? If I could clean off my car, why didn't the manager show up? Steve A.
This company needs a complete wake up call. The music is up way too loud. If the Associates have to yell for you to hear them, that's completely ridiculous. This company only hires young people. The problem I have with hiring young persons, is that they have no customer service skills. And I'm not sure Abercrombie and Fitch puts an emphasis on that for their employees. After my experience of buying shirts and having a sensor left on it, then calling the store and taking the item back for the sensor to be removed.... I cannot see myself shopping at this store again. I read their webiste and was unaware that they have had issues with "Diversity". Besides that, Customer Service is a "MUST" in retail sales. And it seems as though Abercrombie and Fitch doesn't put enought emphasis in that area.
The Abercrombie store located at the Falls Shopping Center in Miami, FL has a bunch of punks employed there. Terrible store, terrible employees with no understanding of customer service.
I ordered a coat advertised for 50.00 on 1 Oct 10 for my son, but never received it. I finally inquired about it via their website and received an email back that said that the manufacturer was back logged and that if I wanted the coat, I would have to pay another 50.00 bringing the total to 100.00. I sent and email back stating "so basically, you advertised the coat for 50.00, but the manufacturer has raised the price and now you want me to pay 100.00. As you would guess, they have yet to answer my question. I've recieved numerous emails now from someone that evidentlly does not know how to speak English. I can't even understand them. It looks like a 3rd grader wrote them. I tried to call them, but the number listed online is not the correct number. You can bet your bottom dollar that I will never purchase anything from this store again and I'll make sure ALL my friends and family know about this incident.
Worst customer service ever!!! I bought a pair of jeans last sat. Then before I ever even left the store I saw another pair that I wanted instead so I took the others back to the counter to return and buy the others. So 4 days later I try to return them because they kept falling down my hips and the lady tells me sorry we just got a new computer system so it won't let me give you cash back or put it back on your card!!! All they could do was store credit...I called the manager Matt lueders and he was no help and really very rude. So I buy a product that I can't use and then I try to get my money back and can't? WTH?
I had went to an Abercrombie store on Friday and my experience has never been so degrading and awful...I had no makeup on that particular day due to Friday being my day off and I decided to go shopping for some jeans. I went into the store and was treated absolutely like I was trash. Nobody in the store acknowledged me, and when I asked for someone to help me with some jeans that I saw on a tall shelf, the 3 employees that were standing right in front of me dilebrately ignoring me, looked at each other when I asked for some help, and decided who was going to help me. I was then told my a manager that they only carried skinny jeans, however when I turned the corner in the store...what do you know? There was the jeans that I was looking for in boot cut, however they weren't in "long" but the manager specifically told me they didn't carry boot cut jeans nevertheless in my size which isn't a big size by any means. I will not be going to this store ever again, I will definately take my business elsewhere...kinda sad cause I was going to buy 2 pairs of jeans for about 100.00 each...
The customer service at your store at Gateway in SLC, UT is awful. They accused me of throwing things on the floor when it was actually one of the employees who dropped a shirt in a stack that she had removed to fold. They followed me around the store and were so rude and unprofessional. I have worked in retail and would never throw clothing on the floor. My friend and I were the only non-Caucasian people In the store, but that doesn't mean you have to blame us for your shortcomings. Your Gateway store is lousy and your company is a poor example for retail.
