I am a former employee of the Winder Highway Kroger in northern Metro Atlanta. At first glance, the store is nice, the employees are extremely courteous, and the managers are very friendly. In 2011, I was hired for the bakery and was put by myself in that department (stores like Publix and Ingles require at least two employees per department, per shift) on a recurring basis. The bakery supervisor Leslie Wesolowski and former assistant manager Mike Raymond fired me after 45 days for no reason. During the initial 30-day evaluation, I only had one instance of saying the F word when I dropped a tray full of cinnamon rolls on the floor, and apologized for it until I turned blue in the face. Aside from that, I did well. I was promised by Angela, one of the managers there, that I would be reconsidered for future positions, which was a bald-faced lie. I have been blacklisted from ALL retail jobs because of that store. Mr. Blackman and Mrs. Fowler have my respect, though. They are the ONLY two managers who deserve any form of respect. They are both brutally-honest, yet fair and understanding. Unlike the other managers, they do not stab employees in the back. They actually care about the employees as much as the customers. Plus, they actually help out around the store as much as they can, be it putting on a hairnet to slice deli meat, or help collect the buggies and return them to the corrals. Aside from those two, the rest of them just sit on their derrières and bitch about the work not getting done. If it weren't for Mr. Blackman and Mrs. Fowler putting in so much hard-work into the store, it would have closed by now. Without those two people, the Winder Hwy Kroger would not still be in business. The bakery/deli has a bunch of backstabbing, self-centered crones. Lynn, the overseer of the deli, is a bitter, hateful old woman. Her breath smells bad, but her attitude stinks worse than her breath. Kerri, who oversees the bakery, is a lazy person who never unloads the palettes from the back-freezer, just because she doesn't want to. It's a wonder she's still working there. The last I heard, a new supervisor took over the bakery/deli and unlike the former supervisor, she keeps everyone in check, even Lynn. Mr. Blackman has continuously filled in when Kerri or Lynn have meandered off, leaving the department short-staffed. Mrs. Fowler will also run a register "without hesitation" to help loosen the tension of the staff. If you ever shop at the Winder Hwy Kroger in Flowery Branch, be sure to "personally" thank Mr. Blackman and Mrs. Fowler for their dedication and for all their hard-work. They are fine, upstanding bosses managing an unappreciative and uncooperative staff.
Im sick and tired of kroger treating their employees like crap. I have been working my butt off for customers, and have come in or stayed longer when they needed help because of their incapability of proper scheduling. Now that I've begun college we have a new front end manager who thinks she doesn't have to work with my availability ! I am a college student with 19 hours a week and she is constantly telling me that I cant have this day unavailable and I have made a several different schedules which is grueling with my schedule and finally have made days available where I should be studying but the don't seem to care a bit. This new e schedule dosen't even work more than half the time I try to use it! So I cant even check if she approved my new availability! For all the things I've put myself through in the name of "helping Kroger" and WORKING EVERY FREAKING HOLIDAY, You'd think they'd have enough respect to help someone else out for ONCE IN KROGER HISTORY!!!!
Dear kroger I just want to say that since you care so much about your employees thanks for cutting to thirteen hours a week which isn't going to fly and don't think for one minute that I won't get union involved. Not only did you cut my hours you gave someone with less seniority more hours than me and u have them listed as having more seniority than me. I have been with kroger for almost ten years she has only been there for two. Your corporate scheduleing sucks you have somebody that sits in an office all day that's probably never actually worked in a store make our schedule based on how long they think it should take us to do a task but u failed to think of how many times we have to stop and wait on a customer in that time too or if some of the people you schedule are trained to do certain task. Also ur key retailing is another big joke. Once again u take office people to tell us how to do our jobs but its more of a hastle than a help. It may work for the big stores but not for smaller store like 454. I'm not going to kill myself to to try and get done what somoene sitting in a office thinks I should have done in their amount of time. I work in the daily and between breaking down loads trying to get product out and take care of my customers needs there is no way possible to do it one your corporate schedule. I used to love my job but in the last three Yeats I hate it. Don't get me wrong I'm very blessed and grateful to have my job but I'm so fed up with u corporate people. If you would cut out some of these people that sit in the office and try to run a department without ever having to work in said department maybe us employed could have better wages and everything. If u cared as much about ur employees as you did about making that almighty dollar you wouldn't be trying to cut our pensions and you wouldn't be to cheap to give us free insurance like u used too. I used to tell prole what a great place kroger was to work now I warn them not to even bother.
i work at peytons northern in bluffton, in. what a shit hole. they have no safety management no training nor do they promote by years of service. if they dont like you you are done the supervisors are a lame excuse and what a waste of money. they train probally 600 people in a 2 yr. period what is with that so many people out of work and they have that kind of turn over rate. management is a joke and if you want a shitty job apply there.
I just hope whoever weirts these keeps writing more!
Kroger in Dearborn. Westborn Mall. Since acquiring the Farmer Jack workers & management, has gone downhill. They have poor quality. Very unprofessional pharmacy help. Tthey are a sub- standard store. I like Meijer. And I'm a Kroger employee. None of the supervisors are on the same page. Each have tall egos. Did ypu ever notice their stock just lingers around $ 21 a share. ?? They're syagnating. Wal mart is a better stock. I have a ton of things ( not good) to say a about Kroger.,
I agree and I am a devout uninoist. In fact I love my union. I see the need for Unions but they have lost their way in trying to kill free market capitalism at the bequest of their socialist/communist orientated rhetoric & actions and support to the far far left of Democratic Party, at all costs. I also suspect the Union leaders start out good but are subject to Communist type arm twisting & indoctrination as they stay in their leadership roles. If my company is thriving in the Free Market and they are growing, I will grow with them. The very worst unions & leadership are public sector based . Private Sector union front line workers know their company needs to survive on profits & margins . They have access to the books and will chose to keep the company afloat at the local level. The national leadership is an other story though as they would kil a local company to prove they play hard ball on the national level. Wise for local workers to outvote their leaders in such contract proposals. Once the Public Sector Unions get their hooks into government there is no such concern about profit margins as the tax payers become the bleeding lamb at the foor of the sacrifice. The movement becomes a cycle of promises that union Leaders will support left-wing politicians & their policies. Once the Politician is elected he controls the tax payer purse string. He can then promise Union leaders concessions for continuing support at the tax payers expense. Once elections are called the cycle restarts and the tax payer never gets control. This has led government & Unions to a plateau where the government no longer works for the tax payer. Yet the tax payer must pay the government bills and thus become the employee of the government. That same government racked up those bills in a format of self serving politics between Union and a politician who is involved in continuous influence peddling & Colusion. The return is Union funding gets the slimy politician re-elected who then does a return favour by signing unaffordable Union Contracts.Once the tax base gets tapped to hard and the slimey politicians realize they can not raise taxes, they borrow money on the foreign market. During their watch they are afraid to raise taxes . However ,not raiseing taxes under their watch ensures that years later it will haunt the government they once served. Future politicians will be forced to face multi billion dollar deficits and bankruptcy. A prime example of this evil can be found with the Democrats hiding out in Wisconsin. They had a contract that was in negotiations for 2009 & was supposed to be signed off by Aug 2010 but the union demands were to high. The Dems let the problem fester on their watch . Yet for years they had been signing unaffordable contracts. They had already tapped their tax base to hard and chose to borrow money on foreign markets to honour the bad contracts previous to 2009. Now Wisconsin is facing 3.6 billion dollar deficit with a shrinking tax base. Wisconsin has previously raised taxes on businesses over the years to the point that they no longer keep shops in Wisconsin or had to lay people off in order to thread water. Net result was job losses of 600,000 jobs which shrunk tax base even farther. Now the cowardly democrats who created the monster are hiding out of state. They left Walker holding the bag of crap they created. Sadly the tax payers are being played by the Lame Stream media & the Unions that paint Walker as the bad guy . However his intention was to get the tax payers an opportunity to find sound financial footing before the state goes bankrupt. Unions in tandem with greedy self-serving politicians never expect to clean up the mess they create but they have the help of the main stream media in hate mongering the people who do try to pull their government away from Bankruptcy courts.
The Beaumont Centre Kroger in Lexington, KY is awful. It is consistently out of sale items, has expired items throughout the store, and has poor customer service (with a few notable exceptions). The management must be quite bad to have so mant items out of stock all the time, and especially if they are on sale! Prices are high, too - the Neighborhood Walmart just down the street has consistently lower everyday prices than Kroger's sale prices, PLUS will match any sales price. There is less selection, but what they do carry is always stocked. Customer service is great, and it is SO much easier to get in and out and park. The Beaumont Centre Kroger only flourishes due to a large population in the area - not due to good management, prices, cutomer service, or even selection (many national brands are not available so there can be multiple facings of Kroger store brands). I like nearly every other Kroger in town, plus Meijer and the aforementioned Walmart Neighborhood Market better than the huge, sad Beaumont Kroger store.
I was at store 461 and the manager by the name of Andrew Nyaroak came to me to tell me to leave the store because I had my service animal with me. My dog was in a carrier being carried around by me. He's a small Yorkie and was quiet, silent and never barks. The only way you would have none I had a dog is if you looked down by my side. After letting him know that my dog was a certified service animal and with me for medical reasons he asked me for my documents and what was it for. Had this manager had proper training he would and should have known that no one should or has to display their medical papers with him because it violates that persons medical privacy. I was very upset and embarrassed. I suffered an anxiety attack after leaving the store and had to take medication to deal with the situation. I've never felt so disrespected in my life by having such an innocent small animal with me as opposed to others who bring their service animals in store with them on all fours taking up space and making customers feel threatened.
I worked for Kroger for a number of years. I found out that my store manager was very sneaky and dirty. He can never make a decision without contacting the zone staff which is not always right and just. Kroger is not a good company to work for. My friend worked there for 24 years and they fired her over a kroger plus card. They have no regards for how long you work for a company or what you do for a company. They just walk all over you.
I have worked at the Kroger store 932 for about 4 years now. And I am tired of being treated like crap. I work very hard every day I come in, customers are allowed to treat us poorly everyday. There was an incident recently where some of us were sexually harrassed by an old man who hung out in the area for 3 hours before the managers escorted him away from us. But, the bad part of this story is that one manager named Mr. Kieth Monroe took it upon himself to laugh at the girls who felt harrassed by this old man and take it as a big joke. This particular manager also treats his best help around the store with about as much respect as an ant on his potatoe salad. The store picks employee of the month at random and does not give it to the truly deserving. I know it is union-based but a lot of the employees should be written up or let go more. Some of them, mainly the the ones who have been there the longest feel like they can just stand around or do whatever they want because they put in more time. We complain about the problems and management looks at it as a burden any time we need to have a talk to discuss problems and solutions or suggestions. Where is the open door policy that we supposedly have?! I'm tired of coming in and busting my butt and working overtime for no respect. I get absolutely no acknowledgment for my hard work. I try to go above and beyond to please my immediate supervisor and management, but it goes unnoticed or they just don't care. I have been complimented by name by customers who are happy with my service and I don't get anything out of it. Not a "good job" or "thank you for your hard work." The store manager only cares about laughing and having fun with people in the "popular clique." Monroe only cares about his power over people and wants us to kiss his feet and worship him. He doesn't deserve to be a manager!! And when we have a chance to complain about the problems with Matlinger at the "town hall meetings" we don't get to because the supervisors and management send only the people who won't saya anythign bad. They don't ask who wants to go and voice their opinions, they just pick who they think will make THEM look good. Matlinger needs a better system like maybe meeting with each individual who signs up to talk with him. It is time consuming, but if it helps the employees work more efficiently and feel confident about their job, to make Krogers more money in the end isn't it worth it?
i ask the pharm. at the store on lamar in arlington texas if he would have any problem filling a prescription and he said no but after i took it to them it has not been filled entirely from the first time i have called corp. office two times and were told by person ans. the phone they would take care of it but to this date nothing has been done except it gets worse every day it seems that kroger cares nothing about the consumer
This rating is for the Kroger store located in Midtown, Tennessee. My 17 year old son has worked there since he was 16 as a courtesy clerk. He is a full time student in his final year of high school and plays football for his school. The managers knew this but refuse to work with his football schedule and says he cannot work for Krogers and play football too. They told him that it is Kroger's policy that an employee has to work no less that 21 hours a week to remain an employee. They knew this was impossible for him to do from August to November but after that he could work as many hours as they needed him to.I mean really, could they not allow him to work weekends until school football season was over! They haven't fired him but they are not scheduling him for any work at all.I am sure there are alot of employees that would love for someone to work their weekends so they could spend time with their families. My son is of a mixed race and from the very begining two managers have been against him and have been trying to find anyway they can to get him to quit. But he has stuck in there so now they have come up with this 21 hour thing. Please let me know, is this your policy?
Today I went to the Kroger on Jonesboro Rd in Union City, Ga and was treated with total disreguard. The employee in the deli department was very disrespectful and would not answer questions or even acknowledge me. After several attempts I went to the manager with my complaint. He really tried to assist me, however after that encounter with the deli employee I left all my groceries. I am shocked at the customer service that is being given, do these people really need their jobs, they clearly act like employment is not important.
The wine stewardess at the Buffalo Speedway & Westpark in Houston,Texas, Jan, is as useless as a bull with teets. She was extremely rude to a customer with a walker, and after that episode I will never shop Kroger again, we have other choices, thank God they put a H.E.B. across the street!
never buy anything from the deli at the martinsville, va store 350. i work there. we have an employee in the deli who adds days to products and doesn't check the dates on the deli meats which is part of her job. even though the other employees that work with her has informed store management of this nothing has been done about it. today some deli meat was cut for a customer. after the employee had cut the meat and served the customer she realized it was out of date she informed the employee who was suppose to check the dates on it and her response was alot of huffing and puffing from that employee. this woman gets by with everything. rumor is she's got something over management cause she is untouchable. just never buy anything from the deli. no one is worth getting food poison.
I work at store 350 in Martinsville, Virginia. I work in the deli dept. We have a lady that harasses all the other employees in this dept. She bumps into them, curses them and has openly threatened another employee. We have been to the union, management and called the harassment number. This has been going on for along time at least a year or more. To this date nothing has been done about it. We are giving management and Kroger one more chance to take care of this situation and if its not we are going to hire an attorney. We have no other choice. We love our job but we can't take the harassment anymore.
Wouldn't hire me at 15 TO PUSH A BASKET
i currently work at the krogers in chillicothe illinois and there is this manager named jeff and i asked to be moved to a different department because i really ddint like what i was doing and told me i had no other choice but to work in this deparpment and let me mind you that i applied for the bakery and was told i was going to be a cake deorator and im in deli......what kind of manager are you because this is only my 3rd day and im thinking im quitting because i dont need to be talked to like im stupid!!!! i got better things to do than to listen to someone talk to me like that.... its plain rude and very unprofessional and to tell ya im thinking about calling coorporate!!!
I shopped at a local Kroger over a week ago. As I was leaving, I noticed a man standing at the entrance/exit door smoking. Being sensitive to tobacco smoke, I complained to a store employee and later called the manager over the phone. I suggested that in addision to the no smoking sign they have posted on the brick pillar 7 or more feet away from the door, that might consider posting another sign on the door, where this man was standing while smoking. This was aliitle over a week ago. Yesterday, I shopped there again, upon my leaving two police and one of the store employees, maybe a manager who refused to give her name, told me I was ban from the kroger, not only that one, but all Kroger stores. The reason she gave at first was I was videotaping durring my last visit there. This is true, I was videotaping from the inside of my vehicle as I was leaving, driving through the parking lot. Later over the phone (I called) another store employee who also wouldn't give his name, said the reason was because I stole from the store, then said it's because I was throwing a fit in a privious visit to the store. Totally false. My only crime as it were, was Complaining about the tobacco smoking in the store's intrance, and videotaping it from inside my car while leaving. The store has a policy against smoking at the entrance, and has no policy that I'm aware of against videotaping out in their parking lot.
