I have rented from Rent A Center, put alot of money down and paid many payments. I rented a 60 inch flat screen tv from them and i paid 2 weeks on it, i was one day late and they broke into my house and stole the tv and when i called them to report it they said i should of payed and contacted them. When i told them it was stolen they said i broke into my own house and stole it, i would never do business with them again they are horrable and annoying!!

RAC knows what they are doing, its a scam but they get away with it cause consumers continue to give them business. It's robbery without the weapon. I know all about the contracts you sign, but their business ethnics SUCK. They would get an F in "How to run a proper business", to me they are no different than these business men who have scammed millions outta the retired and elderly. Your best bet would to find a different store or save your $ to pay cash.

First let me say I have been a loyal customer of Rent-a-Center for 12 years. I have rented to own two living room sets, a dining room set, bedroom set, washer and dryer and recently a new stove, refridgerator and washer. In the past my experience was pleasant. If I wanted to re do a room in my home, I'd visit the local store here in Euclid, Ohio located off Lakeshore Blvd. It was easy and convenient to make payments and get want I wanted at the same time. But this past rental agreement has been a nightmare. Not only do they start calling my home @ 10 a.m. the day my payment is due to inquire what time I will be coming in, they are rude and condescending. In this past week I could only pay $40 of my $46 agreement and Sean, a rep from the store called and told my sitter while I was @ work my very personal biz and said they were coming to pick up my merchandise. (this was after on Saturday, paying my $40, made an agreement at that time to return on Friday)I came home frantic and called Mike the manager and explained that I would be in in three days to make up my payment. I am only 6 payments away from owning these recent three items and have been a loyal customer for 12 years. We made an agreement he'd see my on Friday. Twenty minutes later a rep was sent by Sean to my home to pick up their items. I can't wait to pay these last six payments and know in the future that unfortunetly, my twelve years with this company has come to an end. I intend to write to the Better Business Bereau. They should be held liable for these forms of harassment and unprofessionalism for less money then it takes to fill up my gas tank. Good bye Rent a Center, hello Aaron's!

To the are you serious? Are you serious? Calling two three times the day your payment is due is bad business. My mortgage company, car loan and utilities don't call my house bright and early in the morning the day my payments are due to ask when I'll be coming by their store/office. And I owe them way more money. These guys scratched my brand new kitchen floor delivering my refidgerator and did nothing about it except pitch me a story how my complaint will sit with their insurance company and go unnoticed. They took pictures of the 7 tiles scratched and gave me $20 off my next payment.

I have been a Customer with RAC now for almost six months. I haven't had a problem until last week. I make my payments on time except for one I was out of town for work so I was two days late. I rent from the RAC on Robertson blvd in Walterboro sc. My bills are due on Saturday and I layer that one payment that following Monday. I didn't see a problem with that. Three different associate had called me form Saturday and on that Monday. Two calls were made in one day and two sere made that Monday. That was fine, I understand that they were doing there job. The issue I have is this pst Friday I had an associate named Doug call me and asked if I was going to come in and pay on my account. Then another associate named Norman called me at 10am that Saturday to ask if I'm coming in to pay on my account. I mean please I will getit payed so please don't call me one day a head Sammie if I'm going to on my account and don't call me at 10 in tbe morning and ask it im going to Pay on my account. Most people are trying to sleep in on Saturdays. If they call me again when im not late I'm giving everything back. RAC in Walterboro sc on Robertson needs to respect people as people and not look at us as money.

Does anyone take this in consideration to get back to the associate who has miss treated there customers. I mean I feel as if I'm talking to a wall were it's not going to talk back. It just go to show how RAC is a low down, worthless place to do business with.

I went to RAC and purchased a toshiba laptop. I paid all payments, it started at $124 to $164. It went from 24 months to 18 months. 2 months after I started my payments my jeys began to pop off, my laptop didnt keep a charge it stayed on my charger, and I notice my my screen began falling back, and a dead battery. I looked at my receipt and seen club fee I asked robert whats this? He stated oh thats for all electronics and its to protect all damages. Well that was bs I asked well keys popping off and anthony the manager told me I will be paying $35. I told him why if i am payin on the item. I did pay it off cause $800 in would be a waste. I called corporate many times no response. Now they finally answer a year later after my last payment for my screen, keyboard, and charger port they want $380. I refuse to pay for something I was barely able to use. I bought 10 chargers and im tired of the run around. They harass me @8:30am all the time even after making my payments, I was threatened. They were theives who stole money and furniture from their place of work. Its sad and I DO NOT RECOMMEND RAC to NO ONE..... Btw they should pay or fix unsatifactory items and help people not treat people bad...0 stars is whats needed on the list, not 1 2 3 4 or 5. Signed a good customer

My Husband & I have been a customer of your Waipahu office for the past few years. We have previously paid off a couch/loveseat & currently paying on bunk beds with the intent to pay it for the full term to own it. We currently have only about 8 weeks left on our contract, however if we were to pay it off, it would be just a little over $160. We are scheduled for weekly payments which sometimes we cant’ make in time so we set arrangements for the following week & we pay the late fee along with the next upcoming due payment. We never had any problems with this until recently. First of all, financially it became really hard on us. We are a family of 6 with both parents working fulltime & barely getting by. Recently a female by the name of Mahina started calling. As it gets closer to us paying the bed off, she seemed to get much more pushy, even to the point of calling my husbands job multiple times which we never had happen before. We did contact her back & let her know when payment was going to be made however, she continued to call his job repeatedly even after my husband asked that she not call his job & that we are going to make the payment. As stated in the Attorney Generals Restriction dated 03/01/2010, in a court settlement with RAC which was filed in the King County Superior Court, a Rent-a-Center employee is not allowed to harass a customer, call or visit the customers workplace after having been told by the customer not to do so. What she is doing is a violation to the restrictions set forth. This past Monday, Sept 12, 2011, my husband had contacted Mahina to let her know that we will be making the past due payment from last week along with the current payment on this Saturday. She got angry and started yelling at him on the phone. He asked that she stop raising her voice, but she did not. She got even more agitated with him. She then told him that she is putting us down for payment on Friday and for 3 weeks. He asked her, now why for 3 weeks & why on Friday. He informed her that won’t have any money until Saturday & that only 2 weeks are required. At that point, she said I’m putting you down for 3 weeks and Friday that’s it. She then slammed the phone, hanging up on him. I am really upset at this situation. This is terrible customer service, yet we have been loyal customers to you. At this point we feel that the best course of action is to hurry & pay this off. I at this point will never use rent-a-center again because of this experience & I will not & do not recommend rent-a-center to anyone. I have recommended you before but now, I will not. This is the most horrible service ever. Someone needs to send that woman back to customer service training. I would appreciate if you will handle this matter with your employee Mahina @ your Waipahu, Hawaii location.

The rent a center here in memphis Tennessee off of park avenue has violated my disabled rights , my daughters disabled rights, and the place we reside at. I told them of my heart attack n verve damage and still harrassing phone calls even as a personal reference. The violent pounding on front and side doors. Violently ringing continuesly on the doorbell. Then after they came to pick up the furniture a few days later,a tall black man, an employee there entered my front two closed unlocked doors. The exta anxiety gave me chest pains.when I heard my door open- slowly creaking I got up wlked to the front door n asked him if he opened my door.he said it opened by itself.thnen he asked if Heather was here. I said no n slammed the door. He still rang the doorbell. Let me tell you, my inside door is heavy, you would have to kick the door open to have it almost all the way open. Or step into my home to have it almost all the way open.my heart n nerve conditions cannot handle this.not only did a lot of violations accure but also breaking n entering.somebody better take care of this violent behavior problem.my daughter Heather hough was not home.all the violent harrassing phone calls and violent harrassing home visits better end.

reason why you all probably get bad customer service etc... is they don't take care of their employees like they should they don't get their lunches or breaks can't be sick or have time off to have any kinda of life get paid crap wages for living at RAC they can never say anything because they will loose their jobs, so try to be little more understanding at the same time I do understand your comments as well :)

So I went into rent a center and was so happy when they offered me a great deal on a bedroom set and so I was happy then one night after delivery I itched bad and they said it was from the spray they used the second night my husband woke up with tons of bites on his feet we call and complained and asked them to remove it and I was told I would get a call back well I did.nt and I complained for 2 weeks before they took it well they brought bed bugs into my home I lost everything including my kids beds and now they taking there sweet time to reimburse me for damages. What a crappy store.

Hello, Let me start by saying that I have NEVER contacted a corporate office before. I have been a customer at the Rent-A-Center in Weymouth, MA (inside Shaw's Plaza) for over 7 years! They recently changed management and I cannot fathom WORSE customer service! Last month, I worked on a film set and returned home to over 25 messages on my phone, "Sorry we missed you" notes literally PLASTERED on my house and husband's vehicle and messages form my boss asking me why someone was calling several times a day attempting to get information about me without identifying themselves. When asked to identify themselves, my boss was hung up on. Let me also say that this was the first time I was ever late in making a payment in over 7 years and they treated me like GARBAGE! If anyone ever drove by my home and saw the notes plastered everywhere, I would have been mortified! I went in and gave them a piece of my mind. They told me that they only called my job because they wanted to "verify employment" and we made a deal to pay only half a month since they caused me so much trouble. Now today, I get a call from my boss stating they are calling again after my husband called and informed them (Rent-A-Center) that I would be making a payment next Wednesday. My husband is cleaning up after hurricane Irene in NY and will not be home until then and yet they are harassing me again. Now let me be clear, we do not need the washer and dryer we are renting. We merely wanted a better model and have our own washer and dryer sitting here. If I do not get a response to settle this matter to my satisfaction from corporate, I will never give Rent-A-Center my business again and will be telling everyone I know that they are complete rubbish!

I am a customer of you Bolingbrook,Il store...I have a bedroom set and a computer from that location...I was moving and lifted my headboard and it fell apart, I called Cristal the manager and told her what had happened, she asked what did I do wrong and I told her alls I did is lift the headboard up and it fell apart, she said nobody could come out until Monday, okay that fine but what do I sleep on she told me that someone would bring me a frame, nobody came I heard nothing from the store, Monday came around nobody come. So I did not pay that weeks rent, then come Saturday, RAC is at my door for payment not to fix or even look at my bed. Went to the store and Cystal was no help at all. I have been a long time customer of RAC, and can not belive that as much money as I spend with you, I cant get any help when something happens. You have lost me as a customer my bedroom set will be paid off in December or sooner, And I will not be back. Also you really need to check on the store in Bolinbrook, very poor management..... I am so tired of recieving calls about what my dad owes them on my cell phone. I never gave them my number and they harass me all the time. I dont even live with my father i have my own family drama to deal with. I swear if i don't stop recieving these calls i'm going to sue the hell out of them. There should be a case built up on Rent a Center...its obvious that they are ripping people off world wide. I have yet to see a decent comment about rent a center from anyone. I, myself have been going thru the same issues as the majority of you on here. I think it's time I get a lawyer...

REALLY. NEEDS TO SHUT THE HELL UP,BECAUSE THINGS HAPPEN AND NOT 'ALL' CONTRACTS CAN ACCOUNT NOR IMPLY WHAT WILL OR COULD COME UP IN LIFE. THEY SOMETIMES DEAL WITH IT AND SOME DO NOT. WHEN THEY ARE WILLING TO HELP---BY WORDS ONLY,THEY ARE THEN ENTERING THEMSELVES INTO A 'NEW' VERBAL CONTRACT,THAT THEY DON'T BACK UP. THAT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. THERE ARE PPL WHO WILL FIGHT BACK AND NOT LET THEM CONTINUE TO GET AWAY WITH THEIR BEHAVIOUR WHEN THEY ARE OUT OF LINE OR UNPROFESSIONAL

I have been a customer at the Deerfiled Beach, Florida (hillsboro) location for years. I have seen numerous staff changes come thru this particular store! I have refered countless number of family and friends to this store. This last manager Barry i believe his name is, IS THE WORST! Very rude and very unprofessional. Ive never had a problem paying. I have never been late and i pay on time. Im down to the last of my rental and my payments are $48 a week. i asked for a deferred payment for the first time today and he The Manager told me he couldnt do one because i called to late! Wow! I am so dissapointed and will never recommend RAC ever again. when i pay off this last account i will never return. I mean seriously they call me a valued customer but i get treated like im one of the ones they have to hawk down to make payments!!! I will tell everyone about the "service" the Deerfild Beach Florida store provides. Thank you from one of your "VALUED CUSTOMERS".

I have been with renta center for years,and will now NEVER EVER will i again. I am a disabled veteran that had run into financial problems and could no longer afford to make my payments, so i called renta center store on crescent street in Brockton,ma. So they could come and pick up the merchandise. they are trying to strong arm me into keeping the merchandise which should have been picked up 3 weeks ago.most of your employees there are nothing but thieves and thugs in uniforms.As of today i am filing suit against that store and have contacted local media.So your store will get some bad public relations advertising.Again this is the store in Brockton,ma on Crescent st

OAk sick and tired of the constant mark-up on used items that are stated in their contracts as new merch.My response to the ****"really" is,are you that stupid,the contract says you have the right to refuse arbitration,(hello), that should be a warning. I love the phoney checks corporate sends out,and u can't even use,it is a joke,I am paying on a t.v.,the payment says 55.00/wkly. Only half or less goes to the product,the rest to the store,and I'm sorry,but most of the time the right hand does not know what the left is doing,and they are trained to rip-off the public. I to was threatened that if ur late,we take,that should be the stores slogan,anxIOUS was renting one t.v.,decided to rent bigger and lost all monies on bigger t.v.,that is b.s. Remember RAC WE THE CUSTOMER KEEP U IN BUSINESS,WELL I CAN CHANGE THAT......
