I will never do business with Rent A Center again. Customer service is very, very bad. Only had furniture a week and things turned into a nightmare. Store #1289,247 Scenic Hwy, Lawrenceville GA is the worst. I refused to give my money into a company that tried to handle business with a minor (12yr old) and not the adults. Within a week of having the dining table, they sends two men out to my home and without a parent present at the time, they wish to make varible threats to a minor that had no idea of what was going on. Plus, they actually scared the child to the point when my husband and I returned from the grocery store, my child was in the closet crying because of their comments that should have been taken up us. Went to the store, spoke with the store manager and they were actually trying to defend such unprofessional behavior by their staff. We shut one staff up by asking the question, had that been your child and two strange men beat on your door and when your child answer because they would not stop, and start telling that child they are a liar, they are coming back with the police,and the words goes on,on.....how would you feel? Plus, the minor is a young girl...verses two grown men. What the....
So i have been with rent a center for about one year and one month, i rented a 40 inch led tv at about 40 a week and i went back one month later to rent a laptop at about 40 a week, i paid on it for a year i would call every once in awhile to see how much i had left, each time i called was a different story to when it would be paid off, i lost my job about 2 months ago and i paid for their insurance i was told i couldnt get insurance because i have 30 days to give them documentation that i was laid off, well i looked in their handbook at their store and it actually said i had 90 days, the guy was like OHH, yeah.. i am a 20 year old male and in the beginning i thought oh hey, i can pay for all this, well its a learning experience, ive decided to give back my tv because as of now they are telling me i have another year on it, after one whole year of payments i have another year, ive paid about 5 thousand dollars all together thus far, and i am not going to pay another 4 thousand dollars to keep the tv and laptop, so i decided i will give them back their tv that i paid twice for, and i will keep the laptop as they said i only have 7 more months, once i am finished with this laptop i will never be going to RENTACENTER ever again, really bad customer service horrible, they are rude, i tried to work with them and they couldnt work with me, i know what i signed and yes i understand i agreed but, moral of the story is, do not shop there, your better off saving 400 bucks and buying a brand new tv, my plan is to take back this tv this Wednesday and save up 400 bucks will take me about 1 month to get another tv and better tv at that, smaller but Samsung instead of Toshiba, i am trying to write this to help everyone out there to try and tell them not to go here, this is my learning experience and this is something you would rather read instead of learning it yourself, trust me they make it sound all good and dandy but as soon as you have problems, your out of their "Customer Zone" no friendliness at all
Well was having problems with my power cord all i wanted was for them to replace, so they told me if i bought a new one they woukld refund me my money back so i believed them i went and bought one and when i went back with my recipt they refuse to give me the money back, cuz they said they could get for free, All i have to say is they shouldnt be saying that to people that they will give there money back, ive been a costumer for many years and iam thinking of going else where.this will be that last thing i will be getting there after i pay for the laptop iam done..theres other rent to own places here, that will honor they word...Sylvia from Pocatello Idaho

My question is as follows: I'm currently renting a tablet from a the rac in hermiston oregon, I went in ther yesterday to pay my bill and was told I had a late charge because I had missed it on the previous saturday, needless to say I get paid on tuesdays and always pay my bills on payday like most hard working americans and had already called and and made arrangements to pay on tuesdays, anyways I was in there yesterday to pay my weekly bill of 21.49, when I went in to pay I was told that by the manager Tessa that she wasn't taking no less than the weekly payment plus the late fee, when I contacted the district manager I told him what was going on and he told me either pay the money I owed or bring it back very rudely, when I asked him about the call stating everything we had just discussed being recorded he then stated that the call was not being recorded and asked if I was recording the call, I stated that in fact I was and he then told me to return the merchandise within 24 hours and that he was ending the call. I also stated that I was in fact going to pay the following week on tuesday the weekly amount of 21.49 and the following week without paying a penny more and not pay this week that the. paymentwas refused. I rented an HP All -in One Computer from RAC and although I liked the "no tower" feature. After 5 months of $152.00 payments, I started having problems with the PC being slow ( And it was not my Internet Provider at fault); Blue screens starting appearing, the hard drive was making "squealing" type sounds ( as if it were struggling to keep running). The HP factory warranty ran out as of March 2010. (a month after I rented it?) So I took it in a few times between April-October, and basically all that happened was a re-set to factory. ( Whatever that meant).I had non RAC person who "works" in the PC field check it out and he said the hard drive had crashed, and needed to be replaced!! I took his letter to RAC along with the PC, before I made my final payment, and they kept it for a week; called me and said a low grade 'something" had been done as well as a NEW HARD DRIVE install. So I made the final payment, brought it home. And GUESS WHAT? The next day as I was working with the computer, a BLUE SCREEN pops up, and that squealing noise is BACK!@!*&^%$&* I don't have to get graphic with what I said, do I?? They most certainly did NOT give me a new hard drive at all! I paid approximately $2,000 for this computer (as I did not have that much cash on hand at the time;) but I am kicking myself in places I can't even reach for being so stupid!!! I could have waited and saved up the cash, and went out to purchase a NEW computer instead of this one. I will never ever use RAC again, nor will I recommend it to any one.
Well everyone its no better when you are employed by Rent A Center. I started working there in September 2007. In 2008 my Unit was deployed to Afghanistan. 10 months into my deployment I injured my knees hips and back. I was on extended Military leave till Sept of this year. I came back to work and pretty much from day one I was given every crappy job they could find. But I did it without complaint. I started to have severe pain in my knees so I decided that I would have to quit. I decided to go back to school to get a job that was easier on my body. I registered for classes and gave my Manager 3 weeks notice. One day later they decided that they would except my resignation early. Here it is two weeks before Christmas and I no longer have a job. Thanks rent a center I see how you treat your service member employees. You claim to support the Military but you let a Vet with a service connected disability go two weeks before Christmas just to save a little money on holliday pay.
I rent from the rent a center in Abilene, Tx. I rent a hp all-in-one computer. I have had hell with this computer it stopped working i sent the computer bac to get it fixed. When they called to let me know the computer was back to bring the loner back and get my computer so i did. When i got the computer home plugged it up and the computer still was not in working condtion so i took it back again. I have had and been paying on the loaner they gave me for bout 6 months now everytime i would call they would say the computer has not came bac yet so i stopped asking and kept paying on the computer. Even when i got behind on the payments and took the computer back went to pick it up and they still gave the loaner back to me. Then the other day this women rufuses my paymeny that i had for 29 dollars and my mom was going to pay 29 dollars the next day also but after all i been through with them refuseing the payment just pissed my mom off and she want help me now. Colortyme never does this to me. Rent a center wants their stuff bac but im not giving it bac i am rdy to fight them in court. I have been paying for this computer for 2 years and it still not paid off what and the computer dont work rite. So rent a center im rdy for this fight.
I bought a Laptop computer at store 2819-M.I am on fixed income,This Month i had a family emergency and did not have the money to make my payment.I was out of town until Sunday.When i got home and got my cell phone,there was numerous calls up to 3 times a day on my phone.Come on guys ive been paying on this acct since 02/14/2011 i don't need the harassment if i had the money it would it be paid.Doesn't a big company like Rent_a_center have a differed payment plan were i could skip this payment and continue paying until end of contract.This not a way to run a business in todays ecconomy

The manager name its MARCUS, He was rude on the phone, He opened the door and push us out.
I have used RAC in the past and never had a problem until now. I purchaced a dinnette set that had a cash price of $468. I put down half of it, "thinking" it would get me through half of the payment schedule. No Way!!! the next Saturday, they were calling wanting another payment. not only that, they called several times a day. I explained to them that I paid half and they said they couldn't take the money from that unless I gave them permission. I thought I did that on agreement. Then come to find out I was charged a LATE FEE. Needless to say I told them to come get my table when my money "ran out"
i purchased a wrap around couch and washer and dryer from the adrian mi store i paid my wrap around couch off in my 90 days the washer and dryer have been in service for at least 6 weeks of my 90 days still do not have them back the one person greg told me on friday that they would re-rent my furniture to me at what i owe and start my 90 days all over today when i call they tell me that no they want the money within two weeks i only owe 340 but i dont want to pay it off til it has been in my house for more than 2 weeks the point of the 90 days is you get to make sure the stuff works and to make payments i have had to call everytime they do not return phone calls and the last time my washer sat there for over a week because the store manager told me he was going to try it out first then call he never did i finally just asked them to deliver it they did and it was not fixed now it has been gone for another 2 weeks and they want it paid off before i even get to see if it works properly
i have furniture i rented when i moved into a new house.. i made my 1st payment but the second payment i gave them 1/2 and said i'd give the other half in 2 weeks they said no it'll be a new month, he also said i can't stop the collection calls, i said so that's fine. he said everytime we come out for the payment it'll be $10 added to your acct. i said well don't come cause i'm not paying it, he said you cant tell me not to come...i said do what you want i'll call you in 2 weeks, and hung up..now here we are 30 payments later with no problem and boom my car breaks down need an extension on half a payment. they said no...well guess what i'm not answering them till next month when i can pay....
Unbelievable! I rented a refrigerator from the Rent A Center in Jacksonville, Ar just for the Thanksgiving Holiday and was deeply appalled when my husband discovered baby roaches in the refrigerator! But wait...that's not all. When someone finally came out to retrieve the refrigerator, as the gentleman was taking it out on the dolly a freaking mousetrap fell out of the back of it. Disgusting!!!! I will never ever in life recommend that Rent A Center to anyone. I specifically asked for the new refrigerator that they had but the manager said it was there policy not to rent new merchandise for short term. I could have lied and pretended like i was going to buy the dang thing then have them pick it back up, but instead i was honest and he assured me the refrigerator would be clean, blah, blah, blah. I live in a multi-million dollar development and i only rented the refrigerator because we were having family from afar and cooking so much food we needed another refrigerator. Next time i will buy a new one then give it away when im done before i ever go back to a Rent A Center store! And as far as the manager who rented that crap to me...well we'll see how much longer he'll be with the company!
Just wondering if it is standard operating procedure for the employees at any other RAC for a customer to have to take in paperwork from a hospital to PROVE where you were on your due date. My husband broke his finger last Friday...and the salesman at the RAC in Topeka Kansas on 29th street, told me that it would be a good idea for me to bring the papers in from the hospital. I am a grown woman, who spent 4 hours in the hospital with my husband...and I do not have to prove a damn thing to the salespeople or anyone else...where I was or what I was doing. I am not a grade schooler...and I do not expect to be treated like one. And the harrassment must stop.
HI I RENT A WASHER AND A DRYER FROM RENT A CENTER IN PRESCOTT ,AZ.AND IT WAS NICE BUT I GOT SICK AND SO I WAS LATE MAKING A PAYMENT IN OCT IN NOV THEY BRING BACK MY WASHER AND DRYER BUT IT WAS A DIFFERENT SET AND THEY SAID IT WAS NEW BUT INSTEAD IT WAS USE I CALLED TO TELL THEM THIS SET THE DRYER WAS SETTING OFF MY BREAKER AND IT WAS VERY HOT IN THE HOUSE SMELL LIKE IT WAS ON FIRE I CALLED FOR A DIFFERENT SET THEY WANT TO GIVE ME A DIFFERENT BRAND THEY SAY IT WILL BE MUCH NICER BUT THE PAYMENTS I MADE ON THE ONE I HAVE WILL NOT GO ON THE SET YOUR COMERCAILS SAY THAT IF U CANT MAKE A PAYMENT YOU WILL HOLD IT UNTILL A PAYMENT CAN BE MADE
i am very dissatified with the poorness service i have had with rent a center over ten years give them my buisness and 2 years ago purchased 52 tv stereo surround sound with stand and a washer ive paid over 12,000 dollars for this merchandise and miss two payments and now they trying to take it back when i only have a total of maybe 15 payments left sending me cetified letters also bought a touch screen accer computer that has messed up on me since ive had it gave back to them they said they sent off to repair they never did so they lied to me you all are a joke ripping people off to make 50 times what the stuff is worth
i will be contacted corporate office for solutions to these issues im having with you guys over 11,000 dollars out of my pocket in two years not to mention the other eight years of giving up my money on stuff i bought awhile ago never again will i give my buisness unless these issues are resolved
We rent from RAC in Stuttgart, Arkansas. The employees at this store are very rude when your not making a payment. They are nice when your making a payment. I understand the courtesy calls, however after the initial call, within that hour we several more calls coming in saying that we need to make the payment by 12 or they are coming to get the tv, washer and dryer. The store opens at 9am, by 8:05am we get the courtesy call. By 10 am they are calling my job and after 5 pm I get atleast 3 more time before 7 pm then we get calls saying we need to pick up items. Every call is a different employee. We call the store manager and he says that they are just doing their jobs. Then an hour or so later he shows up at our door. Then he says that he has tried calling all morning with no answer.. Really? Then he never gets his information right. It's payment due day, our payments are about $ 63... He will tell us that we have to pay CASH to him but he says the payment due is $121! She will call multiple times a day- ON PAYMENT DUE DAY- and say if the payment isn't in by noon, we will have to make 2 payments and a $10 late fee... How is that. Then when I call the store manager he says she is just trying to get us in there. I'm tired of the bullshit. The tv is almost paid off and washerand dryer is not much let. I WILL DO BUSINESS WITH RIP-U-OFF.
