Several folks in the Locust, North Carolina area are VERY UNHAPPY with the customer service received by employees at the Locust, North Carolina Food Lion. The employees there are very RUDE and UNFRIENDLY. After numerous poor experiences, we have all agreed to drive much further to go to another grocery store chain or just drive up the road to Wal-Mart intead of going through the hassle we have had to deal with at the Locust, NC Food Lion. Convenience doesn't alway pay off and we had rather pay more which we probably won't have to because Food Lion is the most expensive grocery store around and raises prices on sales items so you're really not getting much of a deal at all. So unfortunate!

Writing concerning pay scale evaluations. My husband works in frozen food and was transfered from the Williamson Rd store in Roanoke Va to Bennington Store also in Roanoke. We were didcussing My eval from where I work and he informed me of his up coming eval due in October. He told me he hoped he received more than 6 cents. I thought he was joking, BUT no he wasnt. Caring my son and my backpaxk with my belonging i was rudly asked to give them my bag i said no and i found myself urging with an other employee im sorry im not going to leave my thingss where people steal ive had it done to me before. I work in custumer service ans i would have never acted like that to a guest point blank thats like telling everyguest when they walk in that they have to give up their. Gaint hand bag its rude and i will never fo into another foodloin or bottom dollor ever again ill take my business to walmart!!!!!

I really think you need to change your advertising strategy. The CEO is so boring and her voice is very annoying. The current commerical with her in her own kitchen trying to get her children to get out of bed is so phony. That is certainly not her kitchen with laminate counter tops. You do not have any clue what customers want. They want clean stores, friendly and helpful employees, low prices and an exciting atmosphere to shop. I see none of the qualities in your stores. If you don't change, you will loose. Your competition will continue to leave you in the dust.

I work in the food lion in Delaware, i have worked there for a year and a half i started as a cashier and worked my ass off for the first year and quickly got noticed and promoted to office assistant i was hired at a measly 7.50 an hour. Well after being promoted and being there a year they promised me a position which after half a year of them saying almost there, its been approved, still no raise. and something that really burns it is that i just hired 2 new cashiers(and mind you they are minors at the age of 17 on there first jobs..) started out making 8.00 and hour so that means i busted my ass, got promoted and am currently making less than the new cashiers who i need to tell what to do and help them?!?!? its just insulting thats what it is. but other than that bad there is some good... i love who i work with and have one of the best easygoing managers there is and thats the only reason i dont quit, they always make my day of work fun filled and less monotonous.

I live in Raleigh and I shop at the Food Lion on Falls of Neuse Rd. which is right behind a BoJangles restaurant. I know of a few employees who used to work there. I have realized that the Store Manager and Customer Service Sales Manager are two bitter people who thrive off of drama. I had overheard a few employees complain about how one worker has been receiving all the hours and how he hates coming to work. I realized his behavior and he only finds interest to work by flirting with women plus walks around the store lollygagging. The customer service manager is just so evil. She has the grimacing look on her face and from how she acts, she is showing favoritism among the employees. Because my wife had came into the store one morning and she asked to speak to a manager. The employee, at the time, had said that he didn't know the whereabouts but will gladly call for her. He directed her to another associate who had came in but gave off this despicable attitude as if she didn't want to be bothered with. Shortly after she received service, she overheard the manager degrade a young man in a demonic way. She also insulted his intelligence by considering that he needs to "use his brain" and just taunted him to employees who worked behind the service desk by calling him slow. Also, I remember they were talking about another worker (the same young man I believe) in a negative manner which I thought was very unprofessional. I don't understand how you have people working for a company who only shows up just to get something started which will cause friction and have to shut down this store. I believe this store needs new management but only get rid of employees who are there just to fool around and lack the willpower to do anything. All in all, the store manager needs to get rid of the customer service sales manager and hire someone who is still an employee that has the capability to do the job and terminate that one individual who only shows up to work to "holler" at girls. In my honest opinion, these 3 individuals give Food Lion a bad name.

I worked for Food Lion for many years. I thought it was a great company to work for and was always treated fairly. Someone made a comment about the offices being ran by 17 year olds. I was one of those 17 year olds. I think my managers were harder on those of us who were young and placed in those positions of responsibility than they were on adults. I thank them for that too. They really taught us a work ethic that carries through to this day. Even more importantly, they taught us how to be supervisors and how to handle build customer relations (handling complaints). Yes, we had a lot of older folks who we supervised that challenged the thought of taking direction from a "kid", but I couldn't even begin to count the number of those older than myself who came and went - In thier 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s hopping from part time job to part time job. Food Lion was great place to learn important skills that would prepare me for my professional career. **I must also say, my comments are not based on experiences in one store. I worked in stores in Statesville, NC, Burlington, NC, and Fayetteville, NC over a span of 6.5 years.

the new line of products which have replaced food lion brands is terrible. the water bottles of the new company are too thin and sloppy when you are drinking from the water bottle. i will not purchase anymore of this water, food lion needs to go back to the original company who made the food lion brand of products as they were better quality!!!!!!!!

You want to keep customers. Look into what is going on at your Sunset location.

I work at a Food Lion in Virginia Beach VA. As we all know, it has been very HOT. The humidty is horrible. I work in the customer service area, usually mid shift (12:30 pm to 5:45 pm) so that is at the peak of the heat. Of course the sliding doors on either side dont help. Are we allowed any water? NO! If we want water we have to find the time to walk to the BACK OF THE STORE to drink from a nasty fountain. Thats IF we have the time to go. Are our baggers, who have to go out into the HEAT to get carts allowed a bottle of water? NO! as the day goes on, it gets HOT in there! Yet our managers are allowed to eat and drink as they please, often wandering the store eating and drinking. We are no longer even scheduled to where any one can get a meal break. No one gets a break. No one gets a bottle of water to sip on. Its not like we would do it in a customers face! We are HUMANS! we NEED WATER! I spend all days TALKING to people, so my mouth gets dry but what can I do??? Sometimes I feel SICK because I am dehydrated. Its only June and the heat here is BAD. Food Lion is facing a lawsuit. Just wait until someone passes out from heat stroke because we are denied a basic human need. Then, and only then, will they change their policy on allowing water. Store # 1502

I am writing you out of my concern that you are phasing out the Food Lion brands of products and easing in a new line called Life Essentials or something like that. I for one feel that this will be hugh mistake. Over the years, Food Lion products, have been a household staple in my home. I have used Food Lion tea for almost 20 years. After having bought two boxes of the new line and having had the bags burst almost every time I make tea, I am no longer using this product. I can only hope that the other products that no longer will bear the Food Lion name will not be of such poor quality. Why mess with a good thing? Food Lion products have a reputation for being good and consistently so. I know that I will hesitate to buy the new products and may just have to start shopping some where else. As a former employee of the Food Lion on Dean Forest Road, Garden City, GA(Savannah), it might be wise NOT to buy marked down meats! I worked in the meat dept. for a short while and was informed by the meat manager that one of the main managers was EXTENDING expiration dates!This is against the law! Also, reverse discrimination, homophobia and age discrimination exist, even though it is prohibited by company policy. Management is sloppy and apathetic, treating employees with little respect. They lie about advancement for hard working associates, their only concern is themselves. It's not unusual for people working two or more Years with no pay increase. There is MUCH job dissatisfaction, which can sometimes result in poor customer service. Shoppers should be aware of this, sometimes employees are just beaten down and may not be responsive enough to your shopping experience.

I have worked at foodlion for about two years but the store i work at we have no problems all of us employees are like family our store is very friendly we treat our customers with extreme respect and what that supervisor did is unneccesary actions she needs to be reported to human resources immiediatly see your local foodlion for the number i cant think of the number right off but i am just a bagger and i am 18 in high school but i know the rules and book

While I was in Food Lion west in Washington NC, I witnessed an appalling act by a supervisor toward an employee, as usual there was only one cashier on and it was about 9 am in the morning, I was waiting online and the cashier was checking out a customer ahead of me moving very quickly and she came across an item from the produce department that she had to look up the code for so she had to put on her glasses to see the code on the chart. The supervisor, her name tag read Renee, was standing behind the cashier watching her every move like a hawk, shoved the cashier aside and started swiping the remaining items. If I had been that cashier, I would have slapped that bigot so hard she would have fell down. I have never seen such an open public display of bullying like I saw that day. The cashier needless to say was in tears and when I reached her I asked if she was alright and that what just happened was outrageous. She replied that she has worked there for almost 2 years and has been in the food business for over 35 years and this one particular supervisor treats her like that when there is no-one around but this is the first time she has ever done it in front of a customer. I offered the cashier a job in my Piggly Wiggly store, I would be glad to have someone like her work for me as she shows a great deal of warmth and professionalism to her customer. Food Lion, you better pay attention, these supervisors in the Washington NC west store are setting you up for a large lawsuit!
