from my reviews three years ago, you had the most dedicated-loyal-loving and honest Deli/Bakery Manager working and loving for FOOD LION...i'M GLAD TO SEE THAT THE BIG MAN WENT TO BI-lo - but I want to secure a high paying-ranking job for my last best friend... dear ms Ceo - I'll try to see you today and shake you hand - for a good job and all the luck from the Irish and a pot of gold under the rainbow...

My son was a dedicated employee for almost a year and was terminated because he didn't show up for 3 shifts that he was not scheduled for. Food Lion in Columbia Maryland came out with a "new" way to inform employees of their schedule. This store freqently changed it's schedule. My son was originally on the "paper" schedule for three days during one week in January. When he checked his "updated" online schedule that the manager had sent to him, he had apparently been taken off of all of his shifts. He obviously did not show up since he was not on the schedule. He shows up for work the other day and was terminated for not showing up. Wow, pretty unreal. Included in his termination letter was an explanation stating "our e-mail scheduling notification" was wrong this week and sent out several blank schedules. Sorry....Now we're going to fire you..... Nice Store..

Is there ever a possibility that food lion May open a store on Tybee Island In Ga? Tybee Is a nice resort community with 5000 or so permanent residents. There is currently a store On Tybee. It is an independently owned IGA store. Very nice store and supplies the island well. I have shopped Food Lion of and on when I find one where I am and like the stores well. I feel that your company would do well here on Tybee. I think the owner would sell as he is at near retirement age.Hios store is very busy during summer months. This year he had to add more parking just to accomodate the influx of summer sales. Please send a written reply to p.o. box 6 Tybee Is. 31328 Thanks

I have been with Food Lion for over 20 years. It is to my amazement that Food Lion is getting worse instead of better. I understand that as a business you have to look after all the dollars but if you keep cutting your employees to part time it does affect your dollars. You don't get the work out of them like you do your full time employees that used to love to come to work. Even your full time employees are getting tired of getting there hours cut. We are emhasizing on cleaning more than ever and not getting extra time to do it. When you say something about it they say well it only takes a minute well those minutes add up and take away from your everyday duties that are more important if you don't have product out there then you can't make money and that is what it is all about right. It is very disturbing that our company that was once the top dog in the grocery business is getting all this negativity from even our own employees. You have put limits on our raises and the cost of living is still going up. If all our Vice Presidents and CEOs would take some pay cuts wow we would have plenty of money to go around for the true hard working people of Food Lion. It is sad to say but I am really ashamed of how our company is going right now. You need to take care of your people they do make this company run. All the paper work you have for them how do they keep the product on the shelves where it needs to be and talk to the customers like it should be. The more you get to greet your customers the more they will come back and shop with you. I know you guys don't really care anymore but at least maybe someone will read this and it hit home with them. Thanks

I was recently in a food lion store and when I came out there was a buggy up against my car..Needless to say that there was a fifty cent size dent on my car.The dent made the area around it even bigger.. This has been three weeks now and no one has contacted me.I am a single mom .I try to keep my car in shape because I never know when I will get another one. A friend of mine looked at it and said that it was too big for him to pull out or dent wizard. The manager at the store did not say I am sorry or anything. I left before he submitted the report.(He said he had to put some things in it to finish)Yeah right....Poor attitude. I will never shop there or any other food lion AGAIN.....People are too lazy to push their carts to the cart rack...What was a 15.00 trip turned into a 150.00 trip at my cost.....

Joseph Spivey that shops at 40/42 in Garner, NC IS lazy and fat. And lazy. But especially fat. You can call him at 919-803-8840. He won't answer though as his phone is on the table in front of him covered in Twinkies that he bought with food stamps. He's too lazy and fat to move them.

I Live in Norfolk, VA. Today (Sunday Dec 26 2010) proved that Food Lion is more concerned about profit than employee SAFETY. We have the worst winter storm in years, if not decades, and they have refused to close stores; however, if employess don't get to work, there is a penalty to pay. Way to go Food Lion.

Overall, I feel that the (Jamestown)NC Food Lion store personnel do a great job. Store personnel are helpful, friendly, professional, and courteous. However, this store appears to experience constant rotation and/or turn-over, not only in managerial staff, but particularly among cashiers and it is evident that these folks have not been properly trained in customer service: they talk on their cell phones while scanning orders; they talk with their friends who come into the store while scanning orders, thereby causing delays for those customers waiting in line; and not infrequently department managers engage cashiers in conversation while a customer's grocery order is being scanned--do they think that their customers do not observe and notice this lack of courtesy?

To Whom It May Concern: I was visiting your store location in the 3000 block of capitol blvd onnovemder 15 2010. I was in the deli section debating on which chicken type to purchase with two of my three children. i reach to pick up a particular type and slip and fell bang a knee and hit my upbody. the children helped me up and found a stool to sit on. i told them to go get someone and it took the 5 minutes for a gentlemen to come and a female employee. she went straight to get a cone and mop while he just stood there. he did not ask why i was sitting on their stool in the middle off the floor. i had to tell him i was hurt and he just said oh girl came with equipment and he told her to get it up. the water weas coming from the bakery where they has scrubbed the floor. He then said well there is no manager or supervisor here you have to come to the office and walked off. What if i did not know where the office was ,he never asked was i ok was i able towalk needed assistant or offer to bring the motorize scooter. i painfully limp up front with the assistance of the basket with my infant in it and my two other children. once up front he never spoke except to put my info on a piece of paper. i am leaning on the counter and the basket blowing in pain i told my 12 year old to find that stool then he says oh do you want a chair. then after a while he turns around and hands me a very small piece of paper torn from an envelope saying this is your claim number some one will contact you in a few days. I waited almost two week no call so i called and asked to speak to the manger and told who i was and begin to tell what happen but he cut me off saying oh I know but you have to call the corperate office did not offer number i had to ask. Now a manager or supervisor should normally upon knowledeg of and incident call the person, offer assistant and direct them to corporate. The employees (especially if you are going to leave them incharge) need more training in customer service and how to handle incidents.i sent an email to customer relations about 2-3 days ago and still no response.

What has happened to the Food Lion on Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville, NC? Once a friendly place to shop has become a last resort. The check out clerks are grumpy and act as though doing their job is a bother. There is rarely supervision at the front. The clerks just do their job at their own pace so the line backs up (yes, line as there are few lines), And where are the managers for the store? Who knows! When one has been requested by customers, they are always having to be paged. For many years this was a nice place to shop. After many years of patronizing this store (within walking distance of my subdivision) I am now driving to one of the other Food Lions in town or going to, argh, WalMart. Good-bye Food Lion #0167!

The employees really know how to degrade their customers. I cam into the store with a backpack the other day and was told to leave it at the front counter. At the time I was dirty from cutting the lawn and was not wearing the nicest clothes. A few days before that I came in wearing nice clothes and was not stopped. Is there a limit to the size of a bag you can bring? I've never seen them stop anyone with a purse (some are larger than my backpack). I felt completely degraded and embarrassed and I'm sure they wouldn't care in the least since I'm just one customer who will not effect their revenue noticeably. Let's also not forget about the meat department scandal. At one time they were putting out-of-date meat back on the shelf after giving it a light bleach-water bath.

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA STORE 1616 6260 103RD STREET JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA There was a cashier named Christina very helpful and always great help with customers but her store Manager Troy Faulk can be mean and disrespect to the customers and employees you need to look in hiring better mangers and look to people who always come in and work hard and need to hire more people full time and promote within the company.

I went to a Food Lion customer service counter to purchase a Lotto ticket which which should be open until 9:00. They closed before 8:00 the cashier said they could close if people did not show up anytime and also said they were short handed. So i said i would call corporate well they sold me the ticket and a scratch ticket but were rude. When i left i told the rude person they should hire more people and of course forgetting what she said about shorthanded said they had enough people . DAH ? On the other hand at another food lion store the people were very nice they just need to boot the deadbeats out of their stores if they care at all.

I have called customer no service twice now about store #0961 in Deltona Florida as a person with mobility issues I use an electric cart my issue remains there are areas of this store that are impassable due to merchandise blocking the isles in some cases you just can not go in those areas unless you walk. On todays visit I had to drag electric cart away from wall to even get to it then an employee had to remove a large display to enter shopping area when asked I was told this area is blocked per General manager because of theft issues. The diary meat frozen food and produce areas are about 80% blocked when asked about this the manager stated we are required to have a certain amour of product on the floor no matter what again this is second call to corporate.

I have shopped at the Food Lion on Main St in Graham, NC since it's initial opening. I never had a complaint about the store or the management and employees. Some of the best that FL has had there (the days of Steve Leonard and his team)... In the past year (2010) I have seen this store start to change in many ways. You can never find a manager when you need one and the once bright, cheerful and helpful employees are either no longer there or they have been cut back in hours (and new untrained help hired to work p.t. as well) which leaves you little or no people to help you with questions or concerns. There is never a bagger to help the cashiers with bagging and to be honest when I finish shopping for my groceries I would like to have someone helping me and the cashier...it is hard enough getting around in this store ...dodging boxes and displays sitting in an already too narrow aisle. This past week I encountered (on Saturday shortly after lunch)employees stocking the dair (ice cream etc) aisle...boxes and hand trucks sitting all over and carts coming from both directions..it was like a maze that you could not get out of..I came away without purchasing some of my dairy products because they did not seem to care that they were blocking carts and did not move. I can't blame them as they were probably trying to put up stock that should have been done early in a.m. or night before and not in the middle of "rush hour" grocery shopping. I miss having a Food Lion like we used to have..I would like to suggest you put our regular cashiers back on their regular shcedules and get some smiles going as we come in the front door....and make sure that management is viable to people...they should have to help at front bagging groceries when you are as busy as you were on Saturday..Good luck with keeping good customers..

I have tried on several times to talk to Food lion about their poor customer service and out dated products. I have tried to email them I have tried to call head office and I have also tried talking to the store manager. On all attempts I have not received any response or has anyone even try to make right on any of these issues. I use to tink as Food lion as your home town place to go for a fair price with quality to match. I guess over the years things do change as a company gets to big to handle the things that they once strived in. I am choosing a new place for me and my family to shop as of next week. I just wanted you guys to know that I was patient and tried to be a loyal customer but that was drove down by poor managment and just plain BAD BUISNESS....

Recently, I went to the Food Lion Store on Roxboro Rd. in Durham, NC to place an order for chickens. I spoke with the manager and meat manager and informed them that I would be using a rain check had been issued because Food Lion had advertised a product that none of the stores in the Durham Area offered during the sale period. The managers ordered the chickens and informed me when they would be delivered. When I went to pick up the order yesterday, a Customer Servoce Representative informed me that she had the power to limit quantities, that she was not going to honor my rain check for the order as originally agreed upon. To lessen the embarassment caused to me in front of customers during checkout, I told her that I would contact the Corporate Office in Salisbury. I have contacted the Food Lion Legal Office and the office of the Chief Operating Officer to resolve the matter. I sincerely hope that Food Lion will resolve this problem immediately. Will keep all informed

I have been working for food lion since October of 2010. I have only recieved maybe 17 hours since. The store in Tappohanock is where I work. They also let the assistant mangers talk to the trainees like they are you know what on the bottom of some one's shoe. I am a hard worker and deserve proper training and a chance to work like everyone else.

My husband does the majority of our grocery shopping at the Food Lion, Parkway Point Shopping Center, Cary, NC. He always bags our groceries because the cashiers/baggers seen to have never been instructed or taught how to bag groceries. Produce is dropped on the scales for weighing and then dropped again or mashed as it goes on the conveyer belt, and bread is squeezed in the middle of the loaf. If these things are brought to the attention of the cashier, they are so offended. I have asked to get more produce in place of what has been dropped or bruised and have also exchanged the squeezed bread. Another source of irritation for me is when the cashiers/baggers talk to each other from register to register about what time they get off, what time they arrived and how soon they can take a break or what their plans are for "after work" or the weekend. This is not the only store this happens in and it is not only Food Lion where this happends. My dad owned a grocery store for 25 years - he taught us to be courteous to our customers (they paid our bills) and that the customer deserved our undivided attention. He always told us that by being courteous and kind, we would get the customer's return business - that was true for the 25 years he owned a grocery store, we had loyal and repeat customers. The stores today seem as if they don't care if you shop with them or not. I long for the days of the "corner grocery store" when the owner was always in evidence, very pleasant and greatful for your business.

I wanted you to know that I was shopping at the Food Lion at 1565 Hyde Park Road, Essex MD and accidently left my wallet at the cashier's check out area. I retraced the day's activity and came back many hours later to find my wallet and ALL it's contents were being safely held at customer service. Your employees showed honesty and integrity and I thought you should know. Thank you. Michael Quesnel
