I use to rate the Denny's location at 710 W Shaw Ave, Clovis, CA 93612 a four star. Yes,over time they had different management and different servers every month but the quality of service a food was still good. It was not until recently on March 16,2012 I seen an entire new staff and management. The severs took a long time to place my order and it appears more of a lack of staffing issue than the sever herself. My food came back cold, the food tasted UN-cooked and the chicken nuggets tasted like they we fried in burnt or UN-clean grease. We had to reorder for more hot food but after the wait we decided to take it to go. I usually order a tall fresh cold glass of your purified water with lemon. But this time received a short cloudy glass with water that tasted like it came from tab water. I was not pleased at all. I will try another the other Denny"s location a 1 1/2 from me perhaps the experience with fresh water and hot food would be done as I am accustomed to getting. If there are staffing hourly and wage issues with Denny's restaurant as others on this website discussed the Denny's franchises are really doing themselves a disservice. Because, I have encountered such nice waiters and waitress. Perhaps that is why you have such a high turnover in staffing. And if this a trend with receiving cold food,UN-cooked food, distasteful water and bad service with all the Denny's I visit I will just have to visit other non Denny's places with great deals and get the full service I usually experience with a Denny's The customer service at farmer boys restaurants are great perhaps get some tips from them.
New employee. Training video's start you out "thinkin" this is a good corporation. Things are structured, done the same way by all - NO THEY ARE NOT. Everything resorts back to "LACK OF LEADERSHIP", always. Trainers are the person for discovering the best method to pass along the necessary knowledge that will allow one to reach their full potential; to make it both engaging and productive for whom you are training. Duties, which revolve around the planning, scheduling, and the administration for training. Putting 2 new people to host alone and considering it "host training". Server training should consist of a tour of server station, back location of items, introduction to other team members. They forget what it is like to be new. They do the work and throw a few thoughts out as they rush to make sure they make their quota of tips and check average for the day! It's a joke training program. Sink or swim. Too many tables to accomplish their objective of server attentiveness. Don't know how long it will last but giving it all I got. Sad and Depressed in Az.
We visited a Denny's on March 11, 2012, in Surprise, Arizona. It was a Sunday morning, and pretty busy. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient, but it took quite a long time to get our food. Once it did come, our orders were correct, and we ate our breakfast. We were with out of town company, and we were visiting after our breakfast for a short period of time (10 minutes, tops), and the (hostess) came over to our table and asked if we would please leave now as they had a party of 12 and they needed our table to add to other tables to complete that party. We couldn't believe it ~~ if she had asked if she could relocate us to another spot to "free up" our table, that would have been acceptable. So, in reality, she told us to LEAVE so they could use our table to complete the party of 12. As we walked out in disgust, she smiled, and we said "that was very inappropriate, you people should be ashamed of yourselves." How embarrasing for us with out of town company. Corporate needs to train these people better with some "people skills". We will never patronize that Denny's again, and it's a shame as it is very close to our house.
I agree with Linda's comment, there should be a minus rating because I would give our experience a minus -10 to say the least. My husband drives truck & we frequent many Denny's all over the country. Today's experience 03/08/2012 was the worst place we have eaten in years. We went to the Denny's at the Pilot truck stop in Jamestown New Mexico exit 39 off I-40. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who handed us 2 menus & said sit were you want. We knew what we wanted so we told her when she came to take our drink order. My husband ordered a Prime Rib Skillet and I ordered the Santa Fe Skillet. I ordered my eggs over easy. All I can say was WOW! It took about 30 minutes to get our food and there was 10 customers( not tables, CUSTOMERS) in the entire restaurant . Maybe 4-5 tables including us. My eggs were cooked hard and when I moved them, there was nothing underneath them. A Santa Fe skillet has sausage green peppers mushrooms red potatoes onions H-peppers etc. there was more of an empty skillet then anything. Not one piece of mushrooms no meat/ sausage no peppers just mainly fried potatoes 2 hard fried eggs and a very little bit of cheese sprinkled on top. I sent it back and got the same plate back. The waitress ask if it was ok & I told her no its not but it will have to do. We were already there now an hour & were now running late. My husbands plate was also very very little on the skillet pan. The waitress said I'm sorry and I told her so was I. That cook needs to be replaced ASAP ! Trucks provide a very large business to these restaurants & to be served "crap" like this is outrages. I have had this same dish at many Denny's and NEVER had such a pitiful meal like that. Now I know why that Denny's has no business & why there were very few people in that restaurant. We will NEVER go there again NEVER
I have been a three or four time a week customer at the Denny's in Rawlins, Wy. I have witnessed a few things that shouldn't be going on there. But on Monday the 5th, while at said location, I along with everyone else sitting close to the kitchen area witnessed the manager (Annabeth) I do believe her name is. Getting very loud and arguing with one of the waitress's. From my angle it appeared that said manager shoved this waitress more than once. This is a no no for any place of business. The only reason this event was troubling is that the dining room was full, and they had only two waitress's working at that time. I could hear some of the discussion, and the waitress was trying to do her work, plus taking out food for the other waitress, and still getting yelled at by the manager. Well! That was it for me. I will not eat there again and watch management treat the workers like that. Something needs to be done there. Myself and two others got up and walked out.
Most of your Denny's servers are extremely overworked and very underpaid. If you are employeed as a server by the wonderful company known as Denny's, you are expected to do 4 to 6 (or sometimes more) seperate jobs simultaneously while only getting paid anywhere from $2.13-$4.00 (hourly) for an hourly wage. Servers are expected to host the door, take orders, get drinks, run food, check the customers, run the cash register, bus tables, unload bus tubs in back, scrape dishes in back, and stock glasses, cups, plates, bowls and ice at least 50% of the time. (gee, why even bother hiring any dishwashers if you can just supplement servers for half the hourly wage!)Not to mention the fact that 80% of the time your server has probably been working the floor for a minimum or 7 or more hours without a legally mandated 30 min. break, or even 5 minutes to re-charge. Yes, that's an entire shift where you have to run non-stop without being able to stand still, sit, or anything other than work like the dog that Denny's treats you as. Denny's truely exploits their employees while the corporate managers make money off of their backs. There is also the constant verbal abuse we put up with from managers, some staff, and the occasional customer. This is why 90% of the people who work for Denny's (I don't care WHERE it is either) are probably on drugs before, during, and after work. It's the only way to get through working at a shithole like this. This place has the potential to turn a completely normal, fun-loving, relaxed human being into an extrelemly over-stressed, psychotic, emotionally damaged shell of a human with a seriously expensive aquired drug habit.
Don't you have anything less that 1 star? On February 29, 2012 I was driving back to El Paso, Texas from Midland, Texas. I decided to stop at the Denny's in Pecos. This restaurant just recently opened, so I really thought it would be a nice experience. Boy was I wrong. The place was a mess, dirty floor at the entrance, unattended hostess stand, waitresses standing around talking, paying absolutely no attention to those of us waiting to be seated. Finally did get seated and ordered a hamburger, requesting cheddar cheese instead of swiss and the "smothered frieds". Got the burger, with swiss cheese of course and the fries (maybe 9 in the order, with 1/2 peice of microwaved bacon), cold. I sent the burger back for the correct cheese, got it back with the cheddar cheese, but the hamburger bun was so stale it shattered when I tapped on it with my fork. I finally gave up, told them to take the burger off of the bill, paid for the cold fries and almost colorless tea. What a disappointment. My daughter worked at the Denny's in Odessa and I know issues that I dealt with during this visit are NOT the way Denny's Corporation would consider acceptable. Corporate and the health department need to visit this location....SOON
Don't eat out much, but while traveling you rely half on restaurant food. 2/25/2012, ate at the 1875 N Expressway, Brownsville Tax, Denny's. Our server was Sandra, new to the job, figure this out since she was not familiar with the menu, gave her a break, but when a manager of the restaurant does not acknowledge the error that happen, nor steps up to bat, as to apologize. He must of sleep during manager school, so this place has given Denny's just another place where service comes last. I should have just eaten on the Holiday Inn Express- breakfast, but has wanted to give my elder parent variety. I sure got the variety here.
My family decided to eat at Dennys after seeing a movie around 10 pm, we came in the host sat us and we all decided what we were going to order at this point it had already been about 10 min and we still didn't have a server. Me and my husband watched the 6 employees that were all standing around fighting over who was still on the floor and who was going to take us so we decided to leave without being served because we were very unwelcomed and nobody wanted to take our order I think they were happy that we left less work on them!!!
I work for a Denny's in Colorado and like any place it has it's problems. But alot of times how a place works depends on the people's attitudes that work there. Positive attitudes rub off on others. If someone wants to make a place better to work, take the intiative and try to make things right and better at the Denny's you work at. I have worked at Denny's for 13 years now and it has been one of the most consistent and best jobs that I could have asked for. Everyone at our Denny's has worked there for 10, 15, 20 years. Again, it's what you make it and we all try to make it a good place to work that people will want to come back too. So quit griping and pointing the finger. Make it better yourselves.
I USED to be a regular customer at a Denny's in Denver, CO I didn't go for one wk due to personal reasons, during that week the managers had changed. The servers came to may table to say hello and to welcome myself and my friend back to their resurant. My first surprise was that there was only four tables occupied...on a saturday night...NO smiles on any of the staffs faces, felt we had walked into a funeral home. Annie, one of the servers that we had been in her station many times in the past came to say hello and she was repremanded buy the new night manager, the place was EMPTY...she was not ignoring any costomers, since there wasn't any there to ignor. That was not enough....I had called Annie to my table to ask her a question, mid way through our conversation Annie was yelled at once again, by the manager, LUPE, this time she made Annie cry...in my opinon is that Lupe should be in the unemplyment line....I will not be going to that Denny's again as long as Lupe works there. AT THIS TIME I CANNOT EVEN RATE THAT PLACE WITH STARS
Today I went to the Dennys on 128th street in Everett, wa at 1:30pm today. I was promptly seated while my friend went to the use the restroom. The waitress asked what i would like to drink, I explained my friend was coming and we would like water to start-I was promptly brought two waters. When my friend sat down we were clearly ignored with menus in hand. Our waitress refilled coffees and bussed table when no one was waiting to be seated. She looked over many times at this interracial couple waiting to have our order taken. after 10 min of attempting to get her attention, we left. I was far too hungry and mad to make a scene on the restaurant. We went to IHOP where we got fast, excellent service and left our waitress with large tip for making our experience pleasurable after what we had just experienced at Denny's. I have never before experienced racial discrimination until today, what a disappointment to see this still exists.
If there were an option for 0 stars that would be better! My husband just ate at the dennys in the flying j in North Platte Nebraska. He ordered a steak with a baked potato, a salad and. Dr. Pepper and also had green beans. After 15 minutes waiting to get his drink then when his waitress finally came back he ordered his food. When the food was brought to him the steak was so burnt it broke, the potatoes were under cooked and the gravy was watery and cold. When he told the manager it was I'm sorry you feel this way! He ate green beans and salad for 14.79!! When he went to the checkout the waitress immediately called the manager up there (with an attitude) told my husband how much was owed then asked how it was and my husband proceeded to tell him that this is the worst meal he had ever had the manager again told my husband he was sorry my husband felt that way and walked away. When my husband walked out of dennys this same manager was at the flying j counter talking to the woman behind the counter, turned to look at my husband and then they started laughing. I do NOT appreciate the way my husband was treated!!!! Corporate needs to do something. Hire better people, keep an eye on the people you have hired, there has to be something. I see I'm not the only one complaining, what do you think will keep happening? If this keeps up you will be out of business due to the fact there are disrespectful, rude, egotistical people working for your company. Word of mouth is the fastest way to get any information on anything and if all people are hearing is how crappy the food is or rude wait people and managers that don't care that's not gonna show good for you! If you would like to keep your business with a good name and have people want to return you need to do a major overhaul and get something done! I fully expect to receive a response at kaffine2626@Yahoo.com.

Just left the Denny's restaurant in Sullivan,MO. Arrival time there was 6:00pm. Myself and my 3 small grandchildren. We were not even acknowledged by our waitperson, only a passing one, Patti, who seemed to care wether or not we were even in the establishment. She took our order which was burger and fries, kids meals and it took 33 minutes for kitchen to prepare. I overheard patrons at the door being turned away and told that the wait time was 45 minutes and they were given names of other places to go. A total of 16 adults and 9 children were the only patrons in our area. There were several empty tables. Patti, our server was the only smiling face I saw, the atmoshere was one of despair from all other servers that I watched. Our food was poor in quality, I was served a hamburger with lettuce that was brown on the edges and a bun that was cold like it had been in a cooler. I have patronized several other Denny's, as I am from the St. Louis area, and I can honestly say that this was the worst experience I have ever had in a Denny's. Thanks to Patti, our server, or we would have chosen to leave, just as several of the patrons that were turnrd away at the door. Patti made a really BIG effort to make an honest ry to keep us as patrons. All the other things that took place in the restaurant were not in her control. NEVER AGAIN....
This is in regards to Battle Creek, Mi Denny's. My husband took the family out to dinner tonight. He and I both had ordered the T-Bone and grilled shrimp combo. We were brought a sirlon steak and only one of us got grilled shrimp and the other fried shrimp. We both got well done when we ordered medium rare. My husband has taken a picture of this steak and is not satisified at all. We asked for the manager and she clearly stated this is the only steak that her store has but understands that it is NOT a T-Bone because It does not have a bone going down the middle of the meat. This was by far the worst meal I have ever eaten at a restaurant and I was very dissapointed by the food as well as the service. The staff did apologize for the service and stated it was because someone was on break but this was not the case for the whole 2 hour meal and does not explain why our salad took over a half-an-hour to get to us or why they forgot the toast or garlic bread or the to go containers. Very disapointed again. I do expect a response ucrystal1@yahoo.com
I worked at the Dennys on main st in salem VA. First off, i worked WELL over 10-15 hrs there and only recieved a 20 dollar paycheck. Now i am MOST certian that i am owed more... I should have a check waiting for me in the corporate office some where. and on top of this i went down to that specific dennys wayyy before taxes were ever sent out and filled out the paper to change my address. Here it is close to the end of Feburary and I still have not recieved my taxes. i have called the manager MULTIPLE times and i have also went there MULTIPLE times and i still have not had EITHER of these matters resolved. So i have been trying to contact the corporate office and cant get a hold of anyone. Not only would i not reccomend eating there, I would not reccomend ANYONE to work there unless you want to be like me and be forced to contact the bbb about them.
To say I was extremely disappointed in a trip to Denny's at I-635 and NW Highway, Garland, Texas would be an exercise in understatement. It would be a long list of items which were advertised but were not in evidence. No chicken fried steak, no prime steak, no red potatoes, no french fries, no cream, no chocolate ice cream, no vanilla ice cream, no soda (coke, dr. pepper, hi-c), no toppings for a sundae, no syrup. The list could go on and on. Also I noticed that there was absolutely no toilet paper in the bathroom (I consider myself lucky that I had kleenex in my purse). The waitress was upset about the situation in that her tips relied on the service to which customers were treated. I heard other customers talking who had been regular customers for years and they said it happened everytime it was bonus time for the managers - something about if they came in underbudget. If this is so I would think the bonuses should go to those who improve customer base and quality of service.
A friend and I had a sandwich with fries at Denny's in Bellflower Ca. The fries were the worst I ever tasted. When I told the manager his comment was most people and himself liked Denny's fries. Ugh! Denny's is now at the bottom of the list of my places to eat. Very poor response to a valid complaint.
My boyfriend and I have dinner roughly between the hours of 10pm and midnight, the dinner was adequate. My complaint is with the staff: I accidentally left my cell phone at the booth, but did not realize this until I left work on Saturday, the next day. I called Denny's to inquire whether I had left my phone up there, the server that waited on us, Erica, had politely retrieved the phone and the hostess had it up at the hostess' desk. Well, between six phone calls and one trip up to Denny's WITH THE POLICE, the phone had disappeared and was nowhere to be seen since that night. I would understand if I had called up there and the phone was never located, BUT SOMEONE HAD FOUND IT AND IT HAD DISAPPEARED ON THEIR TIME!!!! That is ridiculous, and I have YET to get my phone back. These people are thieves and have no sense of right from wrong. That will be the last time I venture into a Denny's ever again, if they'll steal from their customers, then who knows what else they would do to you.
