Your store will be gone in less than five years..BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Was at the Columbus Ga store today to purchase three 8 gig flash drives. I have been using the Phenix City Al store but the last time there the computers were down and my rewards points could not be added to my account. The flash drives have been advertised for the last three weeks in my electronic adds, was told when I got there they have been out of stock for two weeks, no rain checks. Asked about other locations, was told all the stores within 50 miles have been out of stock for weeks! But it is still in the local advertisement, a come on at best when there is no stock for this long! Closer to false advertizing! With the price of gas people plan their shopping for specific routes, being hoodwinked into a drive for an advertised item that was out of stock before the ad was created is not good business!
I shop at your Big Lots on Sawdust, Spring Texas. I know I had at least $65.00 if not more in my basket. I get to the check stand and it's 11 cutomers deep with one cashier. I saw another employee on the other checkstand and I asked her if she had any cashiers to open for the customers? She said I'm doing a price check, I can't open. She never tried to call for anyone or the manager to even open. If we are backed up, our top leaders will get on the register. I was very frustrated along with the others. I left my basket and left the store. This happens way to may times in that store. I work for a grocery chain and I know that we make it our first priority to care for our customers. I feel you should know that your store is loosing sales from employees who could care less in this store. Thank you Phyllis Christlieb 27250 Kane Lane Conroe Texas 77385
If I could give "0" stars I would! The shopping carts in the store on Western and Slauson, Los Angeles, CA are DISGUSTING! The excuse that the manager used was that the homeless people take the carts and that is the condition of the carts when they are retrieved. That is a poor and unacceptable excuse. I have patronized Big Lots in various areas in southern California and have yet to see anything as nasty and dirty as the carts at this store. BIG LOTS - you should be ashamed! This is insulting to me as a customer and a member of the community. Perhaps a call to the Health Department or the media might motivate the regional manager or corporate to investigate.
Purchased 2 Tulip Park Benches from Big Lots several months ago. First bought them there were parts (hardware) missing. Called the number and only recieved 1 part still waiting for other parts. Big Lots Customer Service gave me a number to call and entity called Zhejia 1-888-527-1368, I left a message and phone number on their answering machine for them to call me back in 24 hrs. This was about 4 times and no one has called me back. I also emailed a rosanna and toby at wision.cn about the parts I needed. No such luck there either. OK, here it is I called customer service at Big Lots "again" and was told to "drive to another store to get the parts"!. REALLY??!! Here I bought an item from one store and am now being told to drive to another store further away to get the parts. To top it off, the buck stops there at Customer service, the corporate bosses has it made that you can't contact anyone above customer service personnel. OK, for you 99 percenters this is how to do it. Voice your complaint at the Better Business Ohio Site. Put a complaint on Consumer Affairs. Post on FaceBook and here's the topper to really get back at Big Lots. Call or write WalMart and tell them what a good job they are doing with their customers as compared to how Big Lots treats theirs. Last don't shop at Big Lots. Their products are not up to par anyway with products made mostly in China.
Company runs adds with NO merchandise. This has happened 3 times to me
The big lots in my area has great employess but the worst manger. Big lots in middletown ny seems to have gone throught there employee list really fast in the past year allni see are new faces. Some are familiar but then you turn around and theres a new cashier. I even seen the store manger speak in an unprofessional matternto one of her employess not sure what the cashier did but me being a customer she should have waited to i left. The rewards card is a scam and needs to be change it should at least count towards your purchase no matter the amount the 1st time you sign up. It should also start at 15 rather than 20 and on a weekly basic have some items that have a discounted price for having the card. Theres also poor air conditioning in that building.you can hardly breath once you really get your shopping in and if you are on a long line forget about it. The employess work hard for this company and should be treated with respect. The manger should know a happy employee equals great service and if the manger seems unhappy with her job leave and not mistreat her staff.;and please work on the air condition for your staff this sunner has been hot Thinking twice before shopping there again. It a great store just needs better manger and some clean old air!!!!
i shopt at the sahuarita store in az and let me tell you what there are some really nice people there. and the manger reyes is so wonderful to talk to all the time. big lots is a small walmart kinda. if you want better pay go to school. get educated every body has a choice. if you committ a crime and cant get a job its your fault it was a choice you made. if you want a maid than hire one your self. every is adults act like one not a baby. please. this is every day life people work for walmart. this store is sahuarita is the cleanest and nicest one i have ever been to
Yesterday I was out to do some shopping and to relax a little and I was until I went into a Big Lots Store in Festus, Mo. I will not shop there any longer because your security people are absolutely sickening. They are standing like your attached at the hip and I don't like anyone standing that close to be ever. This happened through all the time in the store to the very last hour. I don't feel that is necessary, they should be watching someone who actually trying to steal something. But again, there is hardly anyone in the store, so all of them follow me. The woman who was perpetually by me didn't even have the sense to have a basket as to at least like she was shopping. I can always pick out security because I always observe those around me and there are good ones and bad ones. Seems as your company hired the bottom of the barrow. I am 71 years old and I have bad knees and are unable to fast track it around a store and I certainly didn't enjoy my shopping trip to your store. Last but not least, my daughter is a St.Louis County police officer. I raise my kids to be honest because I am same and my kids have never been in trouble for any reason, nor I. I have never had a traffic ticket in all my 71 years. I was going to purchase a reclining love seat today, but have decided that I can find one somewhere else. It is not worth wasting my time in your store any longer. I called your manger at that store and she acted like there is no such thing in her store and she also walked by and looked at my purse. She keep asking me if they ask me if they were wearing black, she knew exactly what I was saying. Sincerely, Jo Ann Logaglio
I have been shopping at the Cato store in Durham, NC for about the last four years. I have had nothing but the best shopping experiences. All employees I have encountered have bent over backwards to be courteous and helpful. I appreciate the way they take such extreme care in wrapping the jewelry separately and putting the clothing in the bags so carefully. Believe me, that doesn't happen everywhere. Also, there is always such a nice selection and the prices are great. Its a very rare happening when I go into the store and don't make a purchase. I have also shopped at Cato in Raleigh, NC and Eustis, FL and those stores have also been courteous and helpful.
I have been redecorating my home in San Angelo for the last month and have made multiple purchases of furniture at Big Lots. A wonderful employee named Jim at store # 1202 has helped me. Not only does he greet me with a big smile and "Good to see you today" he is willing to take the time to make sure what I need is in stock or he takes the time to look it up to see if a delivery is coming. His pride for his job and for BIG LOTS shows with the amazing job he does.Big Lots needs more employees willing to take the extra effort that Jim displays everytime I am in the store. I have told several co-workers and friends to ask for Jim when they shop at Big Lots due to his excellent service. Sincerely Tammy Mazy
I have been an employee for a year and 1/2. At first I loved working with Biglots till I got promoted to Asstociate Manager then things started changing. I wasn't getting my weekends off as promised always a different excuse and a few other small tings, but then I got Furniture Manager and it got even worse. Our Manager never schedules any help for me I end up unloading 2 trucks by myself in one day because he never makes a good schedule and I am an almost 50 year old woman, then My Mom is dying and in and out of hospital and I get told I can't use my Vacation for this, so I start using my sick time, now my Husband has had a stroke and I still can't use my vacation, I call in and use 1 day of my sick time which was not credited to my check, I went for training back in April to another store and its now July and I still have not gotton my Mileage pay for that and now my Asstant Manager has made it look like I was a no call no show for 2 days I wanted to use my sick pay on and she never told the store Manager so now I have no job! So no income, hubby was on unemployement when he had his stroke so that will stop and we are trying to get his disability, but if that falls then we gotta reapply for unemployment which = no money comming in at all now that I am considered job abandument {i know spelled wrong} uggg before all this happened with my job I only missed 1 day of work in a years time, I was a good hard working employee. I wish they wouldn't just hire people off the streets to run these stores cause they are loosing a bunch of good employees. Oh and our DM is good friends with the Manager so no need to complain to him. Our store is 1255 in Terrell, Texas I don't know what to do so any help is appriciated!
I been to a big lots in my area and the manager is horrid t o her employees not only that but she has them basically on a leash.my friends been working thete for about 11 years now And she's being treated like a child she's over worked and yelled at for the Managers faults.employees are yelled at infront of customers not even in private It isn't even a professional environment to be in.all you see in that store Is over worked stressed out employees who can't even quit due to Financial problems.employees aren't aloud to use the bathrooms at all No taking emergency calls forced to do crappy buzz club all day & if not done get Yelled at! It's bull shit that some people get special privileges like going to church & still getting paid For not working or have a overly ill woman get paid for be a lazzy ass all day The sad thing is i called corporate & they haven't done anything just because there friends with the manager.
I just called the Simpsonville, sc store because I have a patio table put on hold for me and I wanted to know what the dimensions of the box was so I could see if I could fit it into my car. The lady told me that she couldn't help me because there was only 3 people working and that I'll have to callback later. Talk about customer service. I also visited the Greenville, SC Woodruff Road store and they were equally rude. maybe Big Lots should focus more on customer service. maybe more people would visit!
I am a former manager who worked for the them for 3 years during that time the revised their return policy. Unless they have changed -- Store Managers are not really allowed to wiggle on the return policy or they face disciplinary action up to and including termination. I did not always agree with the policy but they essentially stick to the policy they wrote. My Point is -- dont really blame the store or manager but the corporate office. The DM is unlikely to even return your call in most cases. If you plan to return something -- keep the receipt and return it within 30 days. If then you have a problem -- you might have a reason to complain. Note the exception of packaging and electronics and so forth.
I am management retired from a major grocery chain where customer service has been very important. Went into Big Lots on sunnymead Blvd in Moreno Valley , Ca. last week to look for a replacement cushion for my chaise lounger. On sale was a nice lounger that I also had seen at Bed Bath and beyond. Big lots sale was $39.99 regular $44.00 but didn't buy at this time cause I wanted to go home and see if I wanted black iron or brown. Today at BB&B was $49.00 but with their 20% coupon off would come to $39.20.Great deal. Due to a cart full of items I forgot to ask when checking out to purchase the lounger. So on way home I thought ok I'll just stop back at Big Lots, same store as before, and get it there. To my surprise all patio items were on sale for 30% off but the lounger had gone back to $44.00. I talked to a sales clerk and had her check to see if I could get the sale price from last week , which means she would be only marking it $4.00 off to $39.99, she responded we can't do that. I asked if she could get person in charge. P.I.C said definately not, I said You are willing to lose a customer for $4.00? She responded YES. So I called BB&B and they will be holding 2 of them for me with coupon discount. So I ask WHERE WOULD YOU SHOP? CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS TO BE BROUGHT BACK. Give $4.00 off to keep a customer, but they would rather lose hundreds of dollars from customers who will not shop there just from my story which I will be posting on every site possible. Wake up friends we need to post all bad customer service, name names and boycott each and every merchant that treats us unfairly. We are not asking alot just want to be treated fair for shopping at their store. I can't say I'm a big fan of Walmart but they are putting other chains out of business due to trying to be fair to the consumer. We do some shopping at walmart. We do most of our shopping at Costco, Winco, and some Stater Bros. Never had a problem at the first two.
I think the idol gossip should be forbidded in places where you deal with the public. I was in the Westover, WV Big Lots store with my client. It is one of our favorite places to shop. My client has mental disablities and she is very hard to control at times. Anytime someone acknowledges her it gets her off task and it is very hard for us as staff to get her to stay on task. I have been in there on several occasions and I guess the last occasion I was in there with her, one of the employees felt I was pulling on her to get her back on task. I have kind of tugged on her at times to redirect her, at no time do I yank or pull on her. SHe is a very strong and rather over weight young lady. Well this employee knows her mother and reported that I was yanking and pulling on her to get her to go another way. This is so not true and I wish big lots would repremand their employees when they tell other people things that are not true. It is idol gossip because it is far from the truth. People don't understand it takes special people to work with these individuals and if she only knew how hard it is to keep this individual on task, she would not be speading these lies. It is my job that she is messing with and the mother obviously did not believe it was true, my client loves me and at no time have I ever harmed her. If I had done what she had said, the client would have bruises or a dislocated arm, which is not or never has been the case. The mother did not take it any further than just mention it to me. I just don't appreciate it when people try to make me look bad. I have and will continue to tell people about this incident because it makes me not want to shop there and I will see that others know how rude their employees can be and not want to shop there either. I know exactly who this employee is and she is just lucky that I do not report her for gossiping to others and trying to get someone fired from their job, because I could see to it that she is fired from hers. Very upset about this.
OK, I just have to share. I go to Big Lots because it is fun. It is really fun to people watch there. Plus, you never know what kind of stuff you can find but it is fun to go look and buy stuff just to try it out, etc. It is a guilty pleasure, I have a group of friends and we all make a day of Big Lots because it is fun. A little background demographics... we are all in the higher income bracket and can shop where ever we want. We don't steal, we aren't thugs, we are who a store would like to have around. Just stating a fact, everyone likes a bargain! That being said, must share my experience. I had been in the hospital for 10 days (pregnancy related), couped up and bored. I decided to go somewhere, yep, I chose Big Lots...because it is fun. My husband wanted to go with me but I wanted some time to chill. How dangerous can it be to stroll slowly behind a cart for a little while?? Well, I am strolling and someone decides to jump out from the end of the aisle and yell, "Boo". I was scared to death, my heart was racing, and I start to cry. Then I noticed it was the MANAGER! WTH?!?! I was in tears, I had just gotten out of the hospital and I have MORON jumping out scaring me? I could have lost my baby. I was so upset I left crying. Of course I called the district manager, general manager, all the way up the line. No one really seemed to care about my situation. Manager "PETRA" is still there. Trust me, I did everything in my power to get that beyotch fired. Obviously Big Lots really isn't interested in their customers. What kind of corporation would condone a MANAGER jumping out and scaring customers?? Just had to share. So, it is not always the stuff being sold, it is the people working there as well :-)
I would give Big Lots More 4 or 5 stars if it wasn't for their rewards card scam. I recently moved, and in the past 2 months I have spent well over $200.00s at Big Lots. I have not spent it all at once. Most of them are trips where I spend $5.00-$15.00 at a time. I was wondering why I hadn't earned my 20% discount. Turns out I have to spend $20.00 or MORE at a time to earn a single point. It is pretty obvious, that it is set up where you have to spend at least $200.00 to earn the 20% reward. So, why not set up the points system to count each dollar a customer spends? Seriously, one point for each full dollar spent at the store and once you get 200 points you can get the discount. When I go there, I rarely ever spend 20 bucks or more at a time. It is a place where I go to pick up odds and ends. Is Big Lots headquarters hurting for cash so much, that they can't switch it from 10 purchases to 1 point per dollar? Then once that 200 point limit is hit, give them the 20% discount on their next purchase. With the current rewards system, I feel like I am being swindled, more than I feel like I am saving money.
Worst customer service return policy ever.... Brought defective item back to store in original package/with orange price sticker still on.I pulled out five receipts totaling over $460.00 but because none of them where the right one all I could get was another defective item...WHAT HAPPENED TO STORE CREDIT? If I buy a defective item at JC Penny,Belk,Sears,Home Depot,Costco etc. etc. etc. in original package with store sticker on it you get store credit.I am very good about keeping receipts which is why I was able to pull out five, but there are times when you simply misplace or can't find your receipt.Any store that truly values there customers knows this and does not make it more difficult to return or exchange.I will do very little shopping at Big Lots if at all.And if Corporate Headquarters thinks this does not matter just watch your sales continue to fall!!!
