I worked at big lots for afew yearsI loved my customers and my employees I worked with. We got a new manager this past summer who is not very nice, always yelled at us employees in front of costumers was very rude and not easy to work with. Have had complaints on her from customers and nothing was done about it. I was forced to quit due to getting written up when my 3 year old child was sick. Not a very family oriented place what so ever.
CSS people
I work @ a big lots but I am not going to say which one. There are some css people that I like and there are some that I don't. One of them thought I was being disrespectful when I wasn't being disrespectful at all. If I could leave I would, but I need to the money to pay my bills. It not worth it to work @ this dump. Once I find another job, I will be leaving this place as soon as possible.
The roodnest to there employees
I Think the Big Lots store here in Baxter MN. is really rood to there employees how they talk to them in front of everyone thats in the store Shopping or looking at things that are in the store. They are being disrespectful to them, I'm talking about the manager there some of them are nice and some of them are rood and cruel to there employees. Managers in general should talk to there employees behinde shut doors not were costomers can see. I guess you can't ask any quetions on how they want things done if you don't understand it the first time. I Saw it Happened at the Baxter Big Lots Store and I was not happy about it at all!
horrible customer service
The Big Lots in my area is run down. The store looks bad and the floor is gross. Its very cluttered and seems very messy not the mention the customer service it aweful!!
Buyer beware
On March 13, 2013 while visiting the big lots store in North bend Oregon they had a portable greenhouse advertised as a 12 shelf unit not only in their ad but also in the store over the display model again this was advertising 12 shelves $49.99 so I asked about this and they showed me where it was but the one they are selling has only 8 shelves so I tell them that the one advertised in the ad and in the store has 12 shelves at that time as I found out was a manager he told me I could not count that what they had advertised was for an 8 shelf greenhouse even though the ad said otherwise after I asked to be sold the 12 shelf one for the price advertised I was ordered out of the store and told to never come back. This not the first time that my family has been treated so rude in this store this store has some of the rudest clerks I have ever seen in a bog lots store we used to drive to Roseburg to shop at big lots but after being treated the way we were today we will not step another foot in any of the big lot stores again. I can only hope that when driving by this store as it does not have much business anymore which tells me I am not person they have pissed off that it will soon be closed out of this town. Dogs in store
Went into the Roseville (CA) on Saturday. A women came in and placed a small dog in a cart. I complained to the cashier, as I place food items in the carts. Told her that dogs, except service dogs, are not allowed in store with food. Her rely to me was "Are you ready to pay now?". What rudeness and lack of customer concern. I believe it is illegal for dogs to be a store with food items. Robert
what a joke
I have worked for the this company a lot of years and the majority of the complaints on here are petty, if you need a refund, heaven forbid, hold on to your receipt. If you don't have a receipt, if you have the "evil" (as it is referred to) rewards card and IT WAS USED WHEN THE SAID ITEM WAS PURCHASED, we can do the refund, IF IT IS IN THE PROPER TIME FRAME. Why do some people think you can return something months and months after you buy it and get a refund, you can't do that anywhere. And No the cashiers can NOT change prices on something just because you don't like it, the will lose their job for that, Big Lots is a closeout store, it is not a flea market, a yard sale, or a regular retail store. So NO we don't take coupons.
Company needs a good dose of family life.
Worked there for 6 years. Love the job I was doing hated the company. Very unfair to their employees. Usually love to shop there but alot of times the items are not priced and there are times that items are passed their expiration date. Bought an item on 2/5/13 expiration date is 7/12. With all the technology today how does this happen?

I shop your store on a weekly basis and would like to acknowledge one of your emloyees who is friendly and helpful not only to me but to all of the customers in your Franklin TN store off Murfreesboro Rd. Greedy
I have moonlighted on the weekends and holidays as Store 1498 for almost 7 years. Prior to the manager that currently have, the employees that were scheduled to work on Christmas Eve (Including myself) were valued and gratified with a small celebration of a hot meal. Unfortunately, we have not experienced the value or gratification for being part of the "Big Lots Family" for several years. Sad, very sad. Is it any wonder why Big Lots can not keep good employees when managment is consumed with filling their own pockets. Regards, Dee
Shopped at the new store in Phoenix at Bell and Tatum. GREAT people great products got to know many of the staff since we were there almost every day for 4 weeks. We furnished a 3 bedroom condo 95% with Big Lots!!

While shopping at Big Lots new store in New Symrna Beach , Florida, I was inquiring on some bedding for my home, asked if i could schedule a delivery and was told they didn't do that but I could call some body they suggested and he would take care of it. This is a first for me I have never been to a furniture store and had to schedule my own delivery. what happpen to customer service So I went to a bedding store bought my beds set up delivery at store and everything was done for me I didn't have to to the work my self the beds cost me a little more but got same bedding SERTA that big lots carried and only cost about 250 dollars more for my 3 beds and they did all the work. Sorry Big Lots but I don't work for you you should service your customers better
Delivery
I went to my local BigLots Store and put some Recliners on LayAway to hold for the Black Friday Sales Event. Two Weeks later I returned to make Payment and also to Inform Salesman that I would Return the following Two Weeks to Pay for the Merchandise in Full. I was led to Believe that the said Merchandise would be Ordered and be Ready for Pickup upon Payment in Full. When I returned to make payment and to receive merchandise I was told only one was In Stock. The number of Recliners purchased was Five.
Unfair company
I work for big lots. It's the worst company anyone could ever work for. They want their employees to work Christmas night and I think it's really unfair because they don't think employees have families. The purpose of the company being closed on Christmas is to spend time with family.
Ripped Off
Bought a recliner on sale for Christmas. Put down enough to hold it and then paid the rest and picked up on 12/24. Husband decided it did not work for him. Returned to store. What a hassle. Rang up return at full price and not sale price. So rerang credit at full price. Then tried to ring up credit for sale price. Ended up giving me cash. When looked at bank statement, they had charged me again. Am still fighting it.

I just want to compliment the manager and staff of the Big Lots store in St. Augustine, Fl. While I always enjoyed shopping there, I recently noticed a complete revamping of the store. It looks cleaner, neater, and the layout is much more shopper friendly. The shelves always seem to be well stocked with the merchandise presented pushed to the front of the shelves for easier access. It was just down to the store!!! I was there to pick-up and make final payment on a lay-away. Once payment was made I was told that they had a mattress sale and were out of my selection. I reminded them that I told them I would be at store today to do so. Their reply: "Well I guess you are going to have to go home and wait. I purchased a recliner at the Big Lots at 1615 E. Henderson Street, Cleburne, TX, 76031, on November 6, 2012. Not only was the furniture department manager, Rene Martin, helpful in the purchase, but when my husband returned the next day to retrieve the recliner, Ms. Martin also personally assisted him in loading it on the trailer. I have purchased from this location in the past, and will again in the future. Thank you, G. Blair
Beware of Refunds
Just so you know if you buy something at Big Lots and pay a substantial amount of money and the item goes on sale within 30 days, you are basically screwed because they will NOT give you a refund for the difference. You actually have to return the item within 30 days and re-buy it. So if it's a large piece that needs to be put together, you have to de-assemble it, pack it up, return it to the store and then re-buy it and re-assemble it. I will never buy another item at Big Lots again!
Customer service SUCKS at the main office!! This company dose not stand behind what the sell they told me we sell junk that no one else will sell.. There right I will will NOT SHOP HERE AGAIN!
