I work in a cancer treatment center in ashland ky and one of our patients kelley who has worked for biglots for 14 years told us that when she tried to go back to work they told her she know longer had a job and made know attempt to help her as for me and everyone here we will know longer shop at any biglots when a company cares more about profits than ther employees (SHAME ON YOU BIGLOTS )
I had a sectional (sofa) on layaway at your Ashland, Ky. location. Finally got it paid off. Was told by the store that they had delivery for 40.00. Okay. That was fine with me. The delivery came today and the driver had to have his 40.00 up front. I paid him. Then he could not get the sofa thru the door. Said I would have to go back to Big Lots and either pick out another one or get my money back. I asked him about the delivery fee, since I now have no sofa. He said, again, I would have to talk to Big Lots. So I proceeded to get in my car and go there. Had trouble getting my refund back as I did not see another sofa that I liked. I asked the assistant manager, Barb, about recouping my $40.00. She said I would have to talk to the delivery person. So, I asked for his name and number and she refused to give it to me. Said she could call him for me. So I said, get him on the phone. She called his number and left a message. I gave her my phone number and he has not called me. I called headquarters and headquarters automatic machine tells me that they cannot take my call at this time. I am so disgusted with Big Lots. They lost a 741.00 sale and a customer for life. I am out a $40.00 delivery fee with nothing to show for it. Think its time to talk to an attorney!
You go to the Dr Will tate ! They know you are hurt...they just dont want to pay for you to get better ! They dont care ! Go get Medical attention !
i am an employee in your tremont, PA d.c. and cannot get any supervisor or member of management to address my safety concerns, policy changes, and ethical issues. every time i speak up about these issues i am reprimanded. everyday i come into work theirs a new rule or policy change how about fixing my concerns i've been complaining about for 2 yrs now. how about focusing on whats important instead of brushing everything under the rug. im fed up with the games we all are. get ready for us to unionize. i have 500 union cards about to be distributed
It is very obvious that Big Lots is replacing experianced help with people who are willing to work for nothing. It is too bad. They are only hurting their business worse than it already is which is horrible.

I just put any rating in... just wanted to say, I'm searching for how to ask for a Big Lots store in Jefferson City, MO since we have a nice vacant building, but after hearing all the complaints here, I wonder if we'd want one here.
I received a e-mail from one of my friends a list of stores that give discounts to seniors...How happy that made me feel, since Big Lots is one of my favorite stores I freguent a lot. Well , when I went to the store this pass week, I asked the cashier about the discount and she inform me that this was not true. I then showed the list I printed out on the computer, and she says too me, I don't care what the list says "We don't give discounts to seniors". Well, because of her tone in her voice, I put all my items back on the self, and left the store. Now, I will only be spending my money at stores that offer me a discount.
I was in your whittier store and I couldn't beleive what happens to your cahier on this day 9/17/2012. On this day there was just one cashier and she doing great getting the customers rangup abdul then this big fat hispanic lady and her man started cussing the cashier out, I couldn't beleive the language that they were using towards the cashier. At one point the female looked like she was going to hit the cashier as the cashier jump back so she wouldn't get hit the cashier told that she refuse to service them and big fat lady started cussing more. She called for help but not response and the cashier went to get the guy from furniture and the lady still kept cussing at the cashier, the cashier was very nice to them at all times. I feared for here life. Finally associates came up. Wow, why does biglots keep their employee endanger. This cashier as always been great nice and helpful she's the best at that store, for safety of your employee get more help. I fear for this cashier because that customer and her man were gangbangers. I am a security officer and I had my pepper spray ready.
I presently work for Big Lots. I have been in the zanesville store five years. I do agree that we need more people on the floor to assist customers. Our managers tell us they have only so many hours to divide upon full time people and part time. I mainly do recovery and help customers find things, as well as carry cutomer's purchase like furniture to their vehicle. This past week, I had only 7 hours for the week and this week only 10 hours. I used to get at least 15 hours. My district manager says he will give me more hours on the schedule if I do cashier. I work with co-workers that get only 14 hours just on cashiering. Part-time is one time but look at the gas prices to go to work even though I am dedecated to walk one hour to work if needed. I want to help out with customer's but three people to run a store at night is hard one manager, one cashier and one recovery maybe two recovery if we get a chance. I will do my best to help any customer.
Still waiting to hear from district manager. Left several messages and requested email info. I was told I couldnt have the email address. I filed a complaint with the BBB However I still want to know why a district manager Michael Murrell is sooooo busy that he just refuses to call me!!!!!
I don't know what has happened to my Big Lots Store in Covina, Ca on Sunflower and Arrow ! At one time it was kept very clean and very well stocked. In the past few weeks I have been in that store and it is dirty, messy, low on merchandise. I thought I could always count on that store but no more. Big Lots has lost a very good customer.
I was just in your Portsmouth, Ohio store and I had picked up a variety of items to purchase (I had 2 full buggies). When I got to the check out they began to ring up my purchases and I had picked out 6 hanging planters out of the garden section which had signs everywhere that garden items were 75% off. These planters were located right behind the sign, but they rang up $10 each which was the regular price and not 75% off. The cashier told me that these are regular price and the cashier standng behind her stated that someone else had thought they were also 75% off. Then they proceeded to argue with us about the price. So after all this we just left all of our items, which was about a $150 dollar sale. I was very dissatisfied with the service I received and how I was treated. I probably will never shop there again. Thank you for your time.
I work for Big Lots. When I first started working there things wern't so bad to begin with untill the assistant manager started being a bully. Then tracy our manager started freaking out on us and making new crapy rules for us all to obey. The store is having repairs soon and our manager wants everyone of us to help out and which will also involve floor being waxed. Tracy made it clear to us, she said it was her store and she wants it in order. Speaking of the rules, one of her new rules has to do with excusses. She said that if we have to miss for work then we have to let her know of course and we have to show her an excuse the next time we show up for work or else if we dont, then we will suffer the consiquences such as being written up or fired on the spot from our job. There are more rules than just this but there are so many that i cant tell them all. Its like she is treating us like we are back in 1st grade or something. She is always running her mouth on me and so is the assitant manager which goes by jeff. There has been alot of people that have quit working there due to the lack of appreciation and mistreatment from the managers. Im not the only one going through all of this mistreatment from them, there are plenty of us here that does not like this abuse as well. Theres this one guy named Ray that works there and he is not doing so well and he is very ill and sick. He was diagnosed with cancer and crohns and he goes through the same mistreatment this store has and I can tell he is tired of it to. I was written up by jeff once, he wrote me up cause I had to take my little girl to the doctor cause she got very sick at school and he said I was skipping work. I even called and told him the situaton and he agreed to let me take my daughter to the doctor from school and miss work for the day, but aparently he wrote me up for doing so. Tracy said nothing about it and when I told her what happened she acted like I was suppose to have went to work and let my own daughter go. Im getting pretty fed up with this non sense and so are many others. Also get a load of this! Me and many others are suppose to get off on the weekends, well, however there has been many of times alot of us were called in on the weekends do to many of workers calling in sick and things. Well, here is my point about this, Tracy, our manager seems to hate it when we cant come in to work when called for! She starts huffing and puffing every breath no matter what the reason for why we wern't able to come in at that time. She starts questioning us about what my excuse is about not being able to come in. In my opinion and many others, this place needs new managment that will treat everyone better.
Shopped in your Homewood, AL store on Labor Day and you have the worst store manager, (Laverne) I have ever had contact with.We were going to buy a dog lease. Several were hung up with a sign for three dollars. When we got to the register I asked the cashier how much did it rang up and she stated 10. I asked her to take it off because several were back there for 3 dollars. That is when the manager who was checking out in the line behind me asked what was wrong. I told her and suggested that she should go look. With others in line she suggested that I put them there? My husband told me to leave all the items. I did not because I did not want to hold up your line. But for your manager to suggest that, I felt, she had not respect for us nor your store. Is this your practice to hire people that have no respect for customers.
Didn't see this page for complaint, I live in the Silicon Valley, Calif., different policies at different stores, spring water (Crystal Geyser), was out of stock at Big Lots stores in the Valley, several stores offered to give rain check, however the store near my house (Parkmoor Ave, San Jose, CA), the rude manager (Alfaro or Alfredo) came on the phone and stated "its not our policy to give out rainchecks period", my question to you is - how can a large corporation with stores all over the United States have different policies from store to store, even if these stores are only a couple of miles apart as is the case here ???? Thank you, my phone # incase you wish to rectify this problem is (408) 251-8959 Stephen A. Ledesma
This store is a joke. Casey the store manager likes to hire young girls so he has something to look at.))
I bought this couch and matching love seat from Big lots and paid a friend to pick it up for me with his truck. When we picked it up it was wrapped in card board and plastic wrap so I did not see it was defective until my neighbors took off my back door and got it in to my living room. I took these pictures and took them to the Mishawaka store and they agreed to replace it for me, however, I need to get the old one back to them and get the new one back to and in to my house. I think that is pretty crappy considering they sent me home with a defective product. They do have a delivery service but they want ME to pay for it. The distirct manager and corporate office will not even consider absorbing the cost and expects me to. On a side note, when I bought the furniture I had been out of the hospital for 2 weeks. I had severe double pneumonia and septic shock,my kidneys started to fail and I almost died. I had to have friends come in and clean my whole house. I paid my friend $50 to get the furniture, 3 weeks after I bought it, and had it put into my garage. It was not until 3 1/2 weeks ago it was put in my house. I had to rely on friends to do everything for me and that is why it took so long to get it in to my house. You cannot dictate when someone is going to do you a favor.
I would give a big fat zero if I could. I posted something a few hours ago about Big Lots selling me defective furniture. Furniture that I paid a friend to bring to my house. I was at the Mishawaka IN store. The District Manager and the corporate office said I am responsible for getting the furniture back to them and picking up the new couch. Keep in mind the couch is defective, they have an in house delivery service and I have to take the time and spend the money to exchange it. I just spoke to Kyle in corporate customer service and he kept talking over me, very bad customer service. They will not help out at all in the exchange of the couch. Do not buy anything from Big Lots.
Big Lots opened a new store in Edmond Ok. Been open for 2 months and looks like a store that has been open for years. I walked in today passed 8 employees and not one said hello, bite me or even looked at me. The aisle are cluttered. When I checked out they had two cashiers but one had a light on that made some people confussed to which one was opened. Then when you tried to leave the way to the doors were filled with boxes. You had maybe two feet of room to walk out. Wondered what would happen if they had a fire....Walmart here I come..
