disrespectful
I read a news article about the disrespect directed at a patron by an employee of yours, at your St. Louis location. After reading that article and the comments listed here, I dare not venture into your establishment. It appears you have some serious issues that must be handled with regards to the people in your employment. Starting with an overhaul from management to the dishwasher. It appears you need to clean house and start all over again. Unfortunately, I am unable to give you a neg. rating, so I'll give a forced "1"
Worst Customer Service
I called corporate and complained of my unbelievably horrible experience and they assured me they were going to fix it, so I decided to visit again. What a bad decision. While I admit, the food was much better, the customer service was just ridiculous. There were 3 employees eating at the table right in front of the door(one sitting, two standing) all hurdled around a phone while customers waited at the door, and I waited about 25 minutes for my food on my way home from work. So I doubt I'll be returning. Id rather cook at home than have to look at a bunch of hoodlum employees while I eat. (Laburnum Ave. Location Richmond, VA )
1st time at steak n shake
Today 7/27/13 i want to stake and shake for the first time as soon as i when inside the restaurant i felt really weird and my kids did too, because nobodyask if we needed help until i ask one of the employees that we wanted to order milk shakes. And when the manager saw us he aproach us right away and made us really confortble. When they brought our orders everything was wrong and the manager apologyce and fix our order right. .away. He was really nice and as long as hes there i will go again . Time i went there was at 9pm the restaurant in elgin ill at randall rd.
Poor service
We been waiting for atleat 40 mins for a table and we see a couple of employees jusy standing around, poor customer service at all...gurnee, IL site
Couldn't accommodate
I went to the altamonte springs store in Florida an arrived at 1101 am. After waiting two minutes to be seated it was 1103 an they informed me breakfast stopped at 11. I had three children with me an asked the waiters If they could accommodate the three kids for breakfast. She took pride in telling me no that it ended at 11. I asked her three times to ask the manager an she finally agreed. He came back with the same NO! I approached him myself am he also took pleasure in telling me no. I find it unbelievable they were unwilling to accommodate three young children and we all decided to leave. Well done steak an shake...you managed to piss off a loyal group of customers by having no flexibility or accommodating desire!!
Bad Service
me and my Boy friend went to the Statesboro Georgia Steak and Shake it took 20 minutes or longer to get our food to go then when we got home the food was soggy and no cheese on the patty melt and the hamburger was dry. and the workers was standing around talking so was the manager. Just giving you a heads up on what is going on
Wrong ingredients on order
I went to your drive thru at lunch time. I ordered a double cheese & fries. It took a long time to get my order, because it seem to be too much time with the car before me. I waited about 10 minutes before placing my order, then once I received it my order was wrong. Raw onions, with lettuce,tomatoes was added to my burger. I just wanted a double cheese burger with ketsup & mustard. I do not have time to get my order corrected!
Greasy Undercooked Fries
The restaurant in the 8700 block of Michigan Road in Indianapolis has a difficult time understanding the concept that a good fry is golden brown with a little crunch. A bad fry is what I have been receiving of late. Off white, limp and greasy. I have mentioned this to them in the past and it gets better only to slide once again.
Everyone waiting to be seated
Snellville location had around 20 open tables or booths. 30 people were waiting to be seated while standing in lobby area. Employees and customers were panicking over a situation that had a simple solution. I recommended to an employee that we should just be able to sit ourselves since we were all adults. She looked at me like I was from Mars and said nothing. Come on steak and shake get it together!
Terrible service
Literally the worst service I have ever had in my life.
Bad
My boyfriend and I simply went in to get a milkshake and had horrible service. We waited for 10 minutes and were never seated. We sat ourselves and then after being ignored for 10 more minutes a waitress came over and told us we couldn't sit there and should have been waited to be seated. R u d e
Will Never Return
My husband and I use to love visiting Steak and Shake Restaurants. Unfortunely the last 2 times have been horrible. June 30 2013, 1620 N. S.R. 59, Naperville IL 60563. We were seated and 30 minutes had past and the waiter never came to take our order, so we left. On July 14, 2013 the waitress advice us that they were out of Ice Cream and no Milk Shakes could be prepared. For the past 26 years we have enjoyed the restaurant. My husband advice we will never visit again. We are going to find other restaurants to visit.
Rude Manager.
Just copied this from a facebook post, thought you would like to know what is going on at the Carbondale Store. I must say I am totally shocked what I just heard and saw at Steak 'n Shake in Carbondale. The manager was yelling at employees and slamming things on the counters. Insulting the waitresses and cooks to where I felt so sorry for them. I remember how it felt to be hurt that way. I told the waitress I was listening to that behavior and I'm shocked. She said yes she is mean. It continues the entire 45 minutes I was there. When I was done I left a note with my tip. I said no customer should have to listen to that behavior and I probably would not be back anytime soon. I commented how good the waitresses were and kind. Absolute worst service. Aurora, IL
My husband and I frequently eat at Steak 'n Shake. We go to the one on Fox Valley Drive in Aurora, IL because it is closest to our home. But the service has been terrible the last several times we've been there. We've been there at different times of the day and it never fails! The service is by far the worst we've ever experienced. For example, tonight it took 9 minutes to be greeted by a server once we were sat at our table. It took another 10 minutes to get our drinks. My husband ordered chili that didn't come until she dropped off his food and he had to ask for it. Then she brought no crackers for the chili and no silverware for him to eat his meal. Then she never came back. And the service is like this every time we go in there but we keep going back because the food is good and it's cheap and convenient. But the service is just the worst! Then when we went to pay the manager asked her everything was. We told him how we didn't even have our ticket because the server dropped off our food and never came back. Not even to check and see if we needed refills! My husband ate the last half of his meal with no drink! But when she dropped the food off she said, "let me know if there is anything else I can get for you." How could we let her know if she never came back?! It was just terrible and we decided next time we want Steak 'n Shake, we will either go somewhere else or drive farther to another location.

New place, great service and great food. Wife and had steak burgers. The food was great, shakes better than great. Everyone in place was working hard to please us. THANKS
Wrong Orders
Your location@ 6413 Precinct Line Rd North Richland Hills, TX 76180 can NEVER get a order correct. I always order burger plain and each time it has mayo or sometimes all the veggies. I don't eat @your location often but when I do the order is ALWAYS WRONG. I went in @ 11:45 pm tonight and my order was wrong AGAIN. These ppl need to pay attention and stop trying to have sideline conversations!

Just left a taping of Family Fued from 11am to 4pm starving blood sugur dropped from being so hungry stopped at the Stake n Shake on N.Druid Hills in Atlanta Ga. took three bites and the third bite producded some type of hard object, my son had said that looking in the drive thru window that the floors was nasty and their was a wet vac in the floor. that in itself was just nasty.... I haven't had stake n shake in a very long time, well guess how long it will be before I get any thing else from that place....how about never!!!! I will never eat at that place again spoke with corporate and they had the nerve to offer me a gift card from stake n shake I told them I'll never eat at that place again I have video of it, the object looked like a tooth ok how gross is that.
store needs help
hey just wanted you to know that 635 e carmel dr in carmel indiana needs some major cleaning its bad when it rains and the cement outside turns into an ice rink due to how dirty the cement is its litteraly covered in a layer of grease and looks really bad i love the store but man does it need cleaned please ask them to get the outside clean please
CHEWING TABACCO!!
My husband and I were eating lunch at the steak and shake on ernest barrett parkway, kennesaw,ga on saturday july 6, 2013. While eating lunch four young men were seated diagnoally from our table. Two of these boys were carrying bottles with a dark brown liquid in them. To our dismay we saw that not only were they chewing tobacco they were spitting into these containers that were sitting on the table. After we finished our meal I went to the counter and while paying the check asked the resturant manager was there not some type of policy against such actions. He said there was not and that corporate had no say so over such things, and there was nothing he could do. However he did suggest thtat I as the customer could say something to them. really! There are several issues that i foresee as a problem. First the loss of patrons and secondly health issues. There has to be some type of regulaions against spitting in restaruants with the health department. Not only does this eating establishment not have a clean look to it now anyone can go in and sit at a table and chew tabacco and spit into clear containers. Yuck! KUDOS TO SUCH A MOTIVATED AND UPSTANDING MANAGER, SEROUSLY!
My husband and I have tried twice in recent weeks to eat at your MT. Juliet, Tn location. Unfortunately we never got served either time! We were led to a table and forgotten about. We waited and waited. Now the place was not too busy may be 5-6 tables. after 15 minutes I caught the attention of a sever, who said some one would be right with us. As 5 people stood behind the counter 2 waitress constantly passed our table and a group of people in the hallway just stood there talking we left. so did the table next to us. What a shame all those people and no service.... maybe you need to do a mystery shopper drop in and see for yourselves.
