Ok , I'm not complaining about the calls, I'm not complaining about the agreement, I'm complaining about CUSTOMER SERVICE ...at the Store in Hillsboro, OR , just few months a go you guys just changed the whole staff , I NEVER had any problems with the old staff ( the manager was WES , one of the other guys was Alex ) , they treated me with respect, and they ware nice and funny, it was a pleasure to do business with them , about the new " TEAM " , they SUCK at everything, I asked this guy CHRIS to tell me more about a Laptop, she rushed me and didn't give a rats a** about what I wanted, and on the phone his very rude, not ONLY THAN IM NOT GONNA GET ANYTHING FROM THAT STORE , BUT IM DONE WITH RENT-A-CENTER period, you can thank them for that, I guess you guys make so much money now that you don't care to get new agreements. BTW : I'm one of the good customers, who pay my bills YOu guys do know that you are NOT the only company that does this RIGHT ? For all the money you guys make you should KISS my feet , because without us you guys are nothing. SOOOO SAD :((

As I submit this review and statement I am waiting for a call from someone in customer service. I have only been a RAC customer for 3 weeks and already regret doing business with them. The only good part about this whole transaction thus far was the sales man who sold me this laptop. When I purchased it there was a windows password on it that nobody could figure out. I told the rep that I would accept it as is and put my own opperating system on it. All was good and we did the contract. I was informed while doing the contract that I (MUST) take some extra protection plan that cost me about $8.00 a week but could cancel it when I made my 1st payment if I wanted. I thought $8.00 a week was expensive for something I am only paying $20.00 a week but agreed because I was given no choice. As I went to leave the store the store manager took the laptop from me and told me I could not have it because of the password issue. He informed me that they would get me another one from another store and deliver it to me. Once again taking any and all decision making from the customer. He brought me one about 2 hrs latter with a spliced plug and scratched up. I promptly began taking off Windows XP and replacing it with Windows Vista as I told them I was going to do. This removed any passwords that may have been on the system. Now it is time for me to make my payment.. I went online to pay and guess what... I can not. Why? Because I do not have my contract number. Not having my contract number is not in any way the fault of RAC as they gave me a copy of my contract when I left the store, however... I tried to call the customer service number to get my contract number and cancel the extra insurrance that I did not want to begin with. My call was promptly picked up by a computer telling me to press what ever number I wanted for the option I wanted. I selected customer service and was promptly routed to another computer telling me that although I am calling during business hours nobody is able to assist me. I have no choice but to put up with this for at least 1 more week as I need a computer for work and will not have the money to pay cash for one for that long. As soon as I get one I will be more than happy to give them back their cut up and scratched up laptop back. This is my 1st time using this company and you can very well bet it will be my last. I have had better customer service dealing with crack heads off the street in the past than I do with this company. i have had some issues with them they call people on my list when im late with payments, i get constant calls from them and they call people at work repeadly they have such bad attitudes thats the biggest problem. calling from hidden numbers and diffrent extentions. this needs to stop or im goingto file harresment charges.

I tryed for a month to get my couch fixed where the seems were comeing out of it. A month later they said they could and would fix it and I would have it back in a week or two. It's been over a month! I called yesterday and told them that if it wasnt back that needed to come get the piece of crap thats uncofortable. They didn't show up! Today we went and bought a brand new couch and told them that they have until 5:30 to pick up this couch and the pillows to the one I was buying. However, they said it wouldn't be today...because they only have one driver and the person working the store...So either you get them out here to pick this up by 5:30 today or it will be sitting outside and it's going to rain. I'm not a storage unit! I'm sick of being lied to and tired of the employees attitudes. I'm done with rent a center I wont be a returning customer! They have a new store here in Rancho Cordova Ca95670 .It hasnt been here long. I have had several neigbors here., that your store has lost good customers, because of the employees that work in this store.Rancho Cordova has been voted one of the best areas this year thur the city. From what I have been hearing is illegal practices,harassmennt to people. They Have little regard for the comumity as an bussiness.All these complaints seem to be true.They are selling reused mechandish and are rude to the public.These complaints seem to be from coast to coast and has been law suites over these peoples behavior. Banging on peoples doors going,they over charge and do nothing but lie to the customers. This unfair to the comsumers.I dont think that this bussiness will last to long here. thur the senior citzens and the familys of the miltarty will know about this. these people are nothing but hired cowards,with no people skills.Just awful how do they sleep at night. veterans deserve respect not to be taken advantage of. it will be posted to the vets here for sure. People read the complaints they have.

I have been renting with RAC for about 4 months and I do appreciate the business they offer But regardless of late payments which, yes, I have had. Yes they come a knocking like they are the police, no respect for the neighbors, who may be in the household like elderly or sick, they dont care how they speak to your references or your place of work when trying to track you down for payment. They are just rude. Now I'm only speaking of the location I deal with and one other location which when I visited they were a group of unknowing, unprofessional, and improperly dressed associates. The location I deal with has a grouchy Manager who I feel needs a few diversity courses. She handles everyone the same and in the business world that doesn't always work. She starts off like the customer will have an attitude so she has he face set and ready to blow just in case, she also gives off this fake smile like she really feels she has done a great job. She almost has no trust in her associates who work for her, instead of comending them on a good job, she contantly tells them how they will mess up. I'm not a complainer but I am a stickler for great customer service and I have taken enough of their crappy phone calls from an unprofessional staff. So I'm sending everything back. Its not that serious but I want customers to know what they will be getting themselves into if they sign the 6 page contract for each set or room they rent from these people. Your signing your life over to them. They are quick to pick your merchandise up but will take forever to deliver it.

Extremely POOR customer service. I have been renting a washer and dryer from the store located in Des Moines, IA on SE 14th street for several months now. I've been late a few days here and there, but ALWAYS paid my bill, including the late fee. I called today because my payment was due on Jan 22nd, 2 days ago. I called to make arrangements to pay my bill this coming Sunday. John, the RUDE employee who answered the phone informed me in a very rude tone, that they are closed on Sundays to go to "church" and spend time with their families. I was completely taken back with his tone and behavior. All I was doing was asking a simple question and for him to treat me this way was uncalled for! The inappropriate treatment didn't stop there. He then put me on hold to see if he could offer me an extension to pay next Monday. He got back on the phone only to tell me if I could pay a weeks payment today, he could extend me out till next Monday. IF I HAD THE MONEY, I WOULDN'T be calling!!!!! How dumb is that? I told him politely that I was going to try to borrow the money from a friend, but if I couldn't, I will call and have them pick the merchandise up since they are not willing to work with me. He said "You haven't helped yourself ma'am". At this point, I was at my boiling point. I told him that he can come pick up the merchandise. I will just go to the laundry mat until I can afford to buy a good used washer/dryer. I am just appalled at how they treat their customers. I am sure they are used to clients who ditch and dodge them, but I am NOT one of those people. Heck, if I had an extra money, I would go buy some used right now, and had I been saving the $70 bi-weekly that I pay for this set, I could've had a brand new set by now. I am livid. I feel so dirty at how they treated me. What's worse is how I treat everybody with respect. It seems these employees are trained to be this rude. I hope that some changes can be made, because the whole experience has made me SICK!!!!

I have been a customer of Rent-A-Center for 3 years now. I've bought and paid off a few items. I have recently relocated and decided to use the store in orange city, FL. They call me constantly at all hours if the morning, day and night. Their ridiculous calls constantly wake up my sleeping baby just so they can "remind" me to make a payment. They have also called BOTH of my jobs and ALL of my references to try to contact me. I always make my payments and they still continue to harass me! I have decided to no longer use their services and switch to Aarons. I am very upset about the way u have been treated. I called the store today to see why they were calling me and the woman who I spoke with got VERY rude with me and was blaming ME for them not asking for the full amount needing to be paid last week!! I am writing to make a formal complaint on store manager, Shawn Schafer at the location mentioned. Granted, I was late and that was a definite, 9 days late to be honest. However, when he called, I told him that I would gladly pay him. I had to send for a new debit card, and unfortunately it didnt get there on saturday. the mail of course did not run on MLK day this monday, which left me kind of screwed. Keep in mind that the last time I had talked to Shawn is when I was 6 days late. He called on MONDAY in which i thought all businesses were closed and was EXTREMELY RUDE and threatening. Look, I understand that you train your employees to do what it takes to get their money or merchandise, but what he said in this phone call was unacceptable. He was making me pay for TWO weeks just to keep my stuff. I told him that I would pay the two week payment, but I was asking him some questions regarding my account. He had the nerve to tell me that if i was going to debate this what-so-ever, he would just take my stuff and i would lose the money i had already put into it. He said, all you have paid so far is just $200...I dont know where he comes from, but in my world $200 is not money that deserves the disrespect of "just $200"...$200 means quite a bit to me to be honest. My problem is that he pulled the "Control Card" by basically saying that if I didnt just hang up the phone and come pay him right then without debate, he was taking my stuff regardless. So now thats how we treat customers? If I have questions over my account, I cannot ask them? If I do, I lose the money I have already put in and he just comes and gets my stuff? So, basically I need to be completely quiet and just pay shawn weekly with no questions or I lose what Ive already done? Oh thats right...$200 + dollars isnt of any real value, right??? My other complaint is something that I have held in for quite some time...Do you know that this store calls EACH AND EVERYONE of my references on my DUE DATE before I am even late??? Not to mention they call me until they reach me on that day... Wouldnt it be more reasonable to call me atleast AFTER I am late??? Not to mention calling my references non stop and there have even been days that they call them BEFORE they call me....Why would you call my grandmother's phone before you even call mine?? See what I mean? I enjoy doing business with rent-a-center, but there is a serious problem with Shawn Schafer. I had no intentions in even writing this letter, but when I went to pay rent-a-center last night, do you know that Shawn wasnt even there? He did all of that talk on the phone and then wasnt even there when I came! How disrespectful....Why is this all a problem? They came to my house and made me come ALL THE WAY UP THERE and pay them not only on a NATIONAL HOLIDAY, but ALSO...but also AFTER HOURS...This all occured at 7:30pm last night...When I got there, I had to beat on the door and then I got sent to a side door. I was completely shocked to learn that all of this happened after hours. He continuously accuses me of dodging him. He calls my home during the day when I am gone. I dont answer his phone because I dont carry my HOME PHONE with me when I leave during the day. I forgot to add that he sent a guy to my house and made me LET THIS MAN FOLLOW ME up to the store with my grandmother to pay. I have ran several businesses and this just doesnt seem like the correct way to run things. The guy that came out here is the guy that I intend on dealing with from this point on. I want nothing more to do with Schafer. I ask that you at the corporate offices take more of a look at this guy and really take my complaint to heart.

Rent a center located on 24th street and indian school in Phoenix arizona have poorly management! they harrass you continuously I told them about losing my job and how my insurance in my insurance packet will take over if your are unemployed for 30 days well guess what they told me wait 30 days and it will kick in when i went in to make a payment the manager then tells me no you need to fill out insurance paperwork and have it approved by the corporate office which i was never told and he never gave me the paperwork when we first discussed this 2 weeks prior. They go thru managers everyweek their is always a NEW one. none of their staff team communicates nor do they write notes in the account when you speak to any of their staffs. they will call your phone back to back minute after minute and then call your references numbers which they have NO right to do if you are only 1 day late in a payment! i been paying them since july of 2010 and was late only on 1 payment and made sure i gave them a doubled amount on the next payment. They are NOT PROFESSIONAL and they shouldn't treat customers who pay them,poorly they need to be going after the scumbags who rip them off and take their furniture and move to another state! I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND RENT A CENTER TO ANYONE THEY ARE A RIP-OFF AND CHARGE WAY TOO MUCH ON PRODUCTS THAT ARE USED!

I've been a customer for 15 years and I've been treated Iam now because Iam not I've been a customer for 15 years but Iam done now. I have buy 26 iteams from them but no more. Iam not Spanish so I don't treated like the Spanish people do. Even through we live in U.S.A. not Mexico. There has been 10 managers since I started buying from them, shows how good they are work for or buy from. They have truly lost me a customer and also anybody else I can tell.

I have never used a service that harassed a paying client! When requesting to come pick up the furniture I could not get any result!

I recived a call on december 31st around five pm from rent a center saying that they had some kind of sale and that i have a 315 dollar some odd credit from my last product i took back. I then proced to call the man back to ask if it can be applyed to another rental, he said yes I told him i was intrested in a 42in tv becuse i had been planing to buy one we told me that they have many in stock and to come that night to look, so of course i went in that eve around sixish to see what they had in stock, the guy who took my call was the person that helped me on the floor (this is the first problem) he told me the tv i liked they had in stock brand new in the back room so i said yes i would like that one (who wouldnt want new instead of used) so they planed delv for monday afternoon no paperwork that eve that was it, ok so monday comes they deliver it the man who set the tv up was gret very helpful etc we go over the paperwork ( i see noting about this "credit" ) i sined the paper work after asking about it ( the credit that is ) he said they have it on file at the store>>>anyway i went to make a payment on dec 6th around 12is one pm to the location (phone numbeer is 4054954377)3931 N MACARTHUR BLVD, WARR ACRES, OK 73122 i talked to a lady at that store and asked her about the credit (who ever she was she had a attitude the whole call) she said that only applys to used rentals and then proceds to ask me why dont i just keep it (but under the terms and agrement of the infromation i was given i want the new tv in my living room) she then asked me what the diffrence was between new and used ( thats just great customer service right there) just fyi I work in customer service if a customer is having a problem dont aruge with the customer just listen untill there done ok! My husband and I went and rented a Whirlpool washer and dryer and decided on a flat screen tv with a stand as well. We had the TV and the appliances for several months. We feel back on payments because I had lost my job so we decided to give the TV back. After being 2 days late on a payment we started to get harrassed over the phone and they called our references and wanted to know where we were and the last time they saw us or if they could 3-way us! When we paid them they acted as if none of this occured. While we were in the store paying the bill they asked us if we wanted to get the Tv back. Why would they ask that when they threaten you after being 2 days late on a payment! We feel behind on a payment again for only a few days and they came to our house and pounded on our front. They knocked so hard that it broke the glass on our front door. This incident happened 3 months ago and they have yet to pay the claim and fix it!!!!! Rent A Center is a JOKE!!!!!!!!!

on january 31 2010 i was contacted by a rent a center meber saying that i had a 315 dollar credit (I rented a comp in the summer, and returned it later) saying that i can use that credit towards my next rental, I went in that night and picked out a 42inch tv they told me they had a new one in the back thy diliverd it on the third to my apartment i signed the contract at my apartment they told me that the credit would apply to my rental, long story short i went to make a early payment of 200 dollars today on the six thinking i could just pay it off early and they told me that the credit only applys to used items, I am very appaled that I was missled after signing the contract, the counter rep had a very bad attitude after i told her i just wanted to take it back and that maybe i should call back tomo when the person i spoke to was there, I dont understand how your company calls me at least twice a month asking for my biss, then gives me the worst customer service ever i live in oklahoma city and rented from a location 3931 N MACARTHUR BLVD, WARR ACRES,oklahoma city phone number is 405 495 7377 my name is Jesse Brecht I would love a supervisor to call me back on this problem 4054730521

i order a bed rm set yesterday they said they will be there at 5pm the same day they call me at 4 and say they cant make it so they should be here at my home at 10 its going on 12 pm and still not here this is beyond ridicilous i am so piss i have to go to work and im waiting on them

I have been a customer for 6 years. Recently I added a computer and TV to my account. I noticed that everytime I added a item, my payment due date changes. I get paid on the 15th and 30th of the month. From the beginning they were aware of this, I put it in my contract. How do you set a payment due on a holiday? This is a serious problem @ the Pacoima, California. I was told on the 15th of this month, in order to get my payment to the 3oth of this month, it will cost me 400.00 plus. My payment is 247.00. This payment was suppose to be paid on 12/25/2010. I was told to pay 200.00 more to carry it to the 30th of December. Someone is putting this extra money in their pockets. This is very unappropiate.
