I'll begin by telling you I don't by sweaters for my dog for curb appeal; I buy them so he won't get respiratory infections which lead to vet bills. That said, I went to your store and was amazed that besides being over-priced (as usual), ALL of your dog coats are too thin to be worn in winter weather...except maybe for dogs who live in California or Texas. Unfortunately, My dog and I live where it's really COLD in the winter, so Petsmart's coats are out of the question. The same goes for the sweaters you're selling this winter. ALL have slits where sleeves SHOULD be. Or does anyone at corporate even care that ice that wind and rain comes right through those slits, allowing dogs to be COLD and WET? I care about my dog, which is why I didn't purchase any winter apparel from Petsmart this year. Not to sound mean but I thought I'd tell you just in case your sales managers are wondering why so few coats and sweaters are being purchased this winter.
Many stores including Pet supply stores throw away slightly damaged items instead of giving them away. unless of course you are buddies with the manager, then you get it. Seen it many times and very sad that bundles of calendars are thrown away in /March/April, dog beds with a tiny tear, dirty items that can be cleaned, it would make you sick if you saw the back supply storage room and all the items destined for the dumpster. I heard Petsmart does the same thing and you never know about it unless you are friends with or work there yourself. I understand throwing away a returned bag of dog food, but not ones that come in with a little tear. Rescue groups are suffering, using their own money to buy items that could of been donated. By the way, the PetSmarts I have been to have all been very clean and more than half the employees seem to really care about their customers. At another unnamed store, if you don't get enough donations, you are taken off the register and kept to do crap no one else wants to do.
I have been a dog groomer at Petsmart for 8 long hard years! WHYYYYYY do you think it is safe to make your groomers constantly be interrupted to answer the phones, set appointments, check dogs in and out, and do reminder calls all while working on the dogs getting their hair cuts!!???!! THAT IS A RECEPTIONIST JOB!!!! It is totallly NOT SAFE! WHY DO YOU REFUSE TO STAFF THE GROOMING SALONS WITH A RECEPTIONIST???? You Corp people make up all these ass backwards "safety" policies that almost always contradict each other and actually make the grooming process MUCH harder/stressful on the dogs and the groomers. For example... We are allowed to blast the dogs with the velocity dryer ( which is basically the same thing as a leaf blower!) but we are not allowed to use a none heated cage dryer (which is the same thing as a box fan but smaller). Here's another one- we aren't allowed to muzzle certain dog breeds, If a dog is going to bite me than you better believe im goin to put a muzzle on it or im not doing it! After 8 years of being with this company and no changes being made, I'm fed up with this company and WILL be going to work for PETCO!!
I took my dog to the groomer there today. When I picked him up and got him home I noticed his eye was really irritated. I called Petsmart and they were more than helpful. Tina, the grooming manager said how soon can you get here so we can get the vet to look at him. She was waiting for me when I got there. She checked on us the whole time we were there, as well as another manager, Erin. I was never questioned or made to feel like we were a bother or it wasn't their fault. I don't know why his eye was irritated, it was no ones fault, they were only concerned with his well being. The vet was wonderful and took the utmost care and concern for my beloved. The bill was handled by the store and I was more than assisted with his meds and the supplies we needed. I have never been so impressed with a store and employees that all came together to make sure we left satisfied with our baby. This store is in Spartanburg, SC. I hope that your headquarters reads these posts. Whatever you are doing there keep up the great work!
I want to commend the pet trainer, Lisa Goersch, in Hickory North Carolina. We have been students of Lisa's, along with our German Shepherd, Bodhi, for almost two years. We entered her classes when Bodhi was a puppy and have continued in classes and other for fun training activities. Without Lisa's kind, clear and reasonable approach to training we would never be as far along with our dog as we are now. She has a great voice for teaching, she is witty, loves all the animals and gets along very well with such a variety of humans! Recently she has led some of us who are more advanced in training to do "shows" or "dog flash mobs" for entertainment at the store. Her creativity, imagination and steadfastness of interest in seeing that every dog gets to be his/her very best (as well as the humans too) is inspiring. We want her to get 5 great big stars and lots of commendations. We hope this will be forwarded to the corporate offices so that she may get the benefit of knowing her "trainees" really appreciate her work. Thank you, Linda Shepherd, Ph.D. Hickory, NC
I would like to find out if they are maybe thinking of putting a Petsmart in Tuscaloosa,Alabama. They only have 1 major pet store there and would be good to have another one to choose from and also would be a good location for one. There are people that go from Tuscaloosa all the way to Birmingham,Alabama to go to Petsmart.Petsmart has a lot of items that the pet store in Tuscaloosa doesn't have. It would be awesome to have a Petsmart in Tuscaloosa,Alabama.
I was in the petsmart grooming salon in grand junction Colorado, the supposed manager I believed named tony she was rude swearing didn't. care if kids around. Treated her employees like they weren't anything including cashiers, I have talked with the general manager, its like she doesn't care because this tony lady is still there. I'm done going to that store I will go to petco instead. Thanks for reading.
I took my miniature poodle to pet smart in Murfreesboro TN to be cut and have her nails cut, When I made the appt,the young lady said the price was 24.99 for trimming and it also included a bath, I was very impressed because that was a little cheaper than where i had taken her before. We made the appt and she looked pretty good except I noticed when we got home that her potty area had not been cleaned and her hair was still a little long around her eyes. The next day I called to see if I could bring her back for that and was told that whoever scheduled the appt put her down for a bath only. I was completely outraged, especially when the manager would not even get on the phone and continued to translate through the employee to charge another $37 for a cut. This was my first visit to petSmart and definitely my last. Where are the competent employees????
We were just told this evening that the dry dog food that is in our local Petsmart dumpster is poisoned with chemicals before it is thrown away. However, it is in a regular dumpster where people could access it and there is no warning or hazardous waste sign warning people that Petsmart contaminates their discarded food. Why would it not have a sign or a dumpster that is for "hazardous waste?" This is not a good practice as it could make pet parents or their pets get very sick or kill them when they are desperately needing to feed their dogs and can't afford it right now! Does Petsmart contaminate or poison it's thrown out dog food into a regular dumpster with no warning? Ours does!!!!!!!!
My complaint is about the PetsPerk Card. I have been going to Pet Smart for years and complain over and over again that I don't get coupons, I have called I have resubmitted and I have asked over and over again with a sales associate. I don't get them through my email nor by mail. FINALLY I GOT ONE!!! In the mail on 1/24/12 and guess what, it expires 1/31/12! So i was suppose to be able to use all these in a week! Why bother, I should have received this at the beginning of the month so I had an opportunity to use them. I'm not for these so called "cards" just give me the deal without being burdened by a card. I have found several independent pet stores that I like and will start taking my business to them.
please be aware that the animals you have poured your time, money and emotional attachments to are not as well cared for as one would think. They allow the rescue groups to use the love a pet centers as a "hook" to lure potential customers in so they can then fill the carts with supplies after they have talked them into adopting an animal of the adoption group. This company is all about MONEY/PROFIT. They don't give a rip about the quality of life of any of the animals in their care and that includes fish. The fact they dump perfectly good food into the dumpsters is just another example of how wasteful Americans are. Animals that are starving to death could just as well have that food but they slit the bag and dump it in so as to not have dumpster divers retrieve the food to give to an animal in need. Their profit margins are huge and people should support their local Mom and Pop operations rather than line the pockets of those who are all about money.
Thks petsmart for throwing away pet food,beds ect... that could be used for shelter animals. After all don't you make a killing from the adoptive parents when they adopt and shop. Adoptions are not sponsored by your corp for the love of animals you do it for the $$$$$$$. YOU SUCK! Pls don't give us your bullshit excuses, we haveheard them all. If your employee or a warehse person tears a bag of dog food, put a stamp on it or something to indicate it was damaged, write it off as a loss and give it too the animals!!!! Foster Mom and Rescue
Thank you to whoever finally fired Dick Winters from Petsmart in Issaquah WA. He was a horrible store manager, who knew nothing, yet took employees to task for things he did not even know how to do. He screwed up closing any and every night it was his turn to do so. He hated women and did nothing to hide it. He physically attacked me in a closed office and even though I reported it to the DM, I was in trouble for leaving my post. He caused me undue stress and illness. Petsmart and Dick Winters should be sued. But for now, I am so very happy to find that he has been FIRED!!!!!
I worked for Petsmart DC 038 in Newnan, GA. The management team is horrible. I was sexually harrassed and nothing was done. I went to the GM who at the time was Rick. He turn to me and laughed at me when i told him. The people they have for management is not professional at all. Dennis Reagan is no better. She does not handle situation the way they should be handled. She cover things up and act as if she does not know whats going on. Shawn Parks is not ready to take on that kind of job with the demanding responsibilty that comes with being a supervisor human resource. I feel as if he need more time pratice. If you have a job and you have to always check to see what someone else would say and do for any situation that comes in your office. Then why are you in that position. The whole management team need to be fired and put under investigation. They are crooks, liars, and care for no themselves and not the company. This is a bad outlook. The turnover rate will never change. Its still high.. This company is headed to a diaster and many law suits in its path.
In this day of economic decline & animals/pets being abandoned, it is unconscionable that PetSmart has run up its prices dramatically (40-lb bag of bird seed is now double the price)& they are only stocking higher-priced smaller cans of cat food priced at almost $1 or $1+ per can. Most people who care for their pets + outdoor creatures are older, retired, on fixed pensions/income. But these are the people who spend the most. I was one of dozen people there yesterday who for a normal shopping that 1-month ago cost $150, was almost $300 this time around. Several spoke with the Managers of the store who stated they had registered their customers' complaints but were told, basically, "tough". With all the whole-sale animal pantries opening, I will not be returning to PetSmart. This is why I left PetCo a number of years ago: limited selection, designer small cans, very high prices. Shame on you! You deserve to lose the cutomers that were there, yesterday. We always have options. PetSmart is, no longer, one of them.
i have been taking my 3 year old chihuahua to your store in Clear Lake, Houston, Texas every month to have her nails clipped and filed. until a about 3 months, she has been used to a couple of your groomers doing this and loves them, and now corporate made an assinine decision to forbid the groomers from doing stand alone nail clip and file. she is short haired, so i have don't have a choice to get her groomed. how do you groom a short haired dog? i would appreciate you making an exception for your groomers to do stand alone clip and file on short haired dogs that have been used to their groomers for 3 years. thank you in advance for changing your mind.
I was with my friend dropping of her dog and one of the groomer greeted us she was really nice and greeted the dog. One of your managers came in the salon yelling at your groomer in front of customer numerous time to get away from the dog. I just want to know what kind of manager yells at a employee in front of customer and belittle them and make them feel the way he did. If you want to correct a employee you wait till everyone is gone and talk to them. I do not know what kind of managers you guys hire but they need to be train on how to treat your employees if you want a great working place treat them with respect and not like a child. I believe the gentle name was Matt. This is the second time I came in and he has yelled at someone. He needs to be train with some respect. This is wayne New jeresy
I left my chihuahua in u'r care at the Bellevue, Washington store/hotel(Bellevue Hotel). My chihuahua was fed less than 3 days of his food over 11 days . Lost aprox. 1/4 of his body weight . I have e-mailed cust. service and the manager called me . She said he ate well when she feed him and said she feed him 1/3 of 1/2 of his food . That is what it said on computer . I told her that is not what directions on his menue said in his bag . She said ; We do not read that - we only read the computer . I asked whose fault was that - no answer. I sugested something must have been wrong since the amnts. of food her directions sugested would be an unreasonable / small amount for any pet . She did not seem to think so . I sugest someone take a look at the Hotel before a pet is killed due to lack of knowledge on behalf of your "workers".
I worked at DC 38 and have to say it is the most miss managed operation I have ever seen. The supervisors and managers are a bunch of liars. Promising overtime to new hires. Worked the weekend shift and was told I would get 36 hours atleast. Saw that one week all other weeks hours were cut down to part time. Then they have the never to say that we were having mandatory overtime day and we would have to work the day they told us or be fired even though because of cutting hours they forced us to get part time jobs to make a living.After declaring this as OVERTIME they paid us regular hours. Weekend team hours were cut while week day teaam members were allowed to come in for overtime so supervisors and managers could shut down earlier and go home. Supervisors could not tell employees how to meet thier goals. Supervisor never out on the floor. They sent us to a meeting that last over 1 and 1/2 hours then charged the time against us causing ours productivity to go down. They do not set team members up for success. That is why they can not keep people employed and have so much turnover.
As a customer and member of PETSMART, I had sent my husband to the Boca Raton petSmart location to but CapStar meds for our new puppy and our Labradoodle. While there, he experienced 2 male employees looking at him as he entered thru the doors but no one greeted him. As my husband is very outgoing and people friendly, he approached the 2 men and asked them why they were so sad and unfriendly but especially did not offer any "Welcome" to their store. Finally one of them spoke up and asked if he could help my husband. Upon tellinh the employee what he wanted to purchase, my husband inquired again about the "unfriendly attitude" he portrayed which would only play negatively upon incoming customers. My husband told the employee that they need someone like him (my husband) to train & educate their employees on proper customer service & customer retention. At that point, the male employee introduced himself as the New Operations Mgr who told my husband that they could use someone like him. Then my husband told him that he would accept a position like that especially since has been in a "job transition" (unemployed) for a year and would enjoy working with PetSmart. The Operations Mgr, Jason Hawkins, encouraged my husband to apply for a position on-line and let him know when he completes the PetSmart application, gave my husband his phone number to contact him iummediately. Two days later, my husband had called Jason Hawkins, Ops Mgr. only to be put off saying that he will get to it when he has some time - - that he is real busy. This identical occurence has happened 3 times now with about 2 days between each call to the Ops Mgr lastly telling my husband that he has over 100-150 resumes on line and will review all of them when he has time. If he is interested that he will call my husband; that there is no sense to continue calling. This is out - and - out - right poor representation of PETSMART as a reputable company. You people DEFINITELY are in NEED of some honest & True PROFESSIONAL employees if you plan to grow and advance in this market. I am now strongly considering switching over to either of your competitors who are located across the road from your location.
