I had a serious issue with petsmart today. I took both the dogs in to get groomed (Cocoa and Keana). After waiting for 15 min to get help they took Keana into front grooming area and wrote up the tickets before taking Cocoa. I told them I didn't want them taking Cocoa into the back room for any reason because she is deathly terrified and asked if this would be an issue. They said it would be fine and they'd get it all done in the front area. They were all done with Keana by the time they took Cocoa. So I went to pay while they were cutting Cocoa's nails. When I went back into the lobby area (where you can see the dogs getting groomed) they had taken Cocoa into the back. I yelled hello to them trying to get their attention to make them bring cocoa back into the front area and no one was responding. So I got the cashier guy to go in the back and get them to bring cocoa in the front area. I asked the girl why she thought it was ok for her to take Cocoa into the back after I gave her strict instructions that my dog was not to be taken into the back for any reason. All she had to say about it was that she needed someone to hold Cocoa while cutting her nails. I told her that was unacceptable and they could have done it in front. I got her name, the store location number and the corporate office phone number. To all of you pet owners... I highly suggest not taking your pets to petsmart groomers. I am not the first person to have a serious issue with them and for a few more dollars you can go to petco.

I have been going to Petsmart, in Peoria,IL, for years, not because they are the cheapest, but because I can always find hep and the selection is really good. However, when I was there last evening and spent $144.00, I met one of the trainers. I have a puppy, which I hope to turn into a service dog. We have been taking various dog classes at POTC and she is turning into a great dog. I asked the trainer if the K9advantix II was superior to Frontline. I received good, non-bias advise... great! Then there was a comment about my dog's behavior. No offense taken, as all dogs have good & bad days. However, I took the opportunity to ask for some advice. The comment I got was, that I could only get the answer, if I took a class. I was considering taking a class there as I think that they have talented people, based on what I have witnessed, and I wanted a different perspetive. But, if I have to layout $109.00 for a class, after spending $144.00, to get one piece of advice... well you can keep it. ALL of it. At POTC, I have asked several times about development & training issues. The response has always been extremely positive with loads of encouragement. I even find that whomever I had the initial contact, will check to see how things have progressed, when we meet again. NO CHARGE. Why is it Petsmarts policy to hold a single piece of advice from a paying customer. I had an earlier issue with the grooming department too. They asked if I was pleased with their service. I responded that on the last visit, my dog came back smelling exceptionally doggy. I forgot her response, but it was short and snide. Remember, she called me. I little bit of waterless shampoo(I bought from Petsmart) fixed the problem. Advice for this store... Don't just go thru the montions if you don't care. Ask yourselves, "Is it about the pets and their owners, or is it just about the almighty buck?"
I just read a story of a dog being groomed at PetSmart, It was a sad story to where the dog received a bloody nose. I wanted to let you know EmiLee Evanessance Willow's story. She was my 8 yr old female yorkie. Here is her story: I too, took my little girl yorkie to the grooming salon at PetSmart in Woodinville, Wa. She had an appointment at 7:30 am. Her apptmt started with a bath - then went on to her being groomed. During the grooming my little Emi had to go potty twice,(not sure if it was her nerves or what-I was never told)but each time she went potty the groomer had to re-bath her so as you can imagine it made the groomer upset with her since they only have so much time for each furbaby (dog/cat). The groomer called a family member and said if Emi were to go potty again she would have to come and pick her up. As it turned out Emi was groomed and then put into one of their kennels in the back until someone was called and told to pick her up. In the meantime of Emi being kept in the back, she was barking excessively. Later I was told she barked so much from 9am - 3:30pm (when I got there) that Emi was hoarse. When I got Emi she had a wild look on her face, her ears were back, she was panting very fast, and her eyes were glazed and buldging out. (hard to describe) So after seeing her I automatically picked her up and tried to calm her down - gave her some sips of water and offered her some food thinking maybe since she's with me she'll calm down and everything will be okay. From 3:30 to 9:40 pm she was panting - not eating - not drinking - not even barking. I tried to cool her off by wetting her down - gave her Nutra-cal so she would have something in her system - afterall she's just a little yorkie weighing in at 4 lbs. At around 9:40 pm that evening Emi colapsed on the kitchen floor - not breathing. I was so upset and in distress.
I have taken my dog to Pet Smart for a bath and nail clipping twice now. They told me he had a cracked, bleeding toe nail from scratching the cage. It wasn't until I returned home I realized the last time he came home with the same problem. He has been unable to walk properly and is continuously holding his paw up. Why didn't they notice him scratching? If they did, why didn't they do something like remove him from the cage? Even more bothersome was what I witnessed when I walked in to pick him up. One of the girls had a little poodle up on the table. She didn't see me come in but I could see her profile. She had her left hand cupped over and squeezing this poodle's left ear. With her right fingers she was, what appeared to be, cleaning the right ear with cotton. What caught my attention at first was the grip she had on that poodle's ear. All of a sudden the dog yelped so loud it was deafening. I looked at her face and she was gritting her teeth, looked really angry and began to squeeze the ear harder. Just then she turned and saw me standing there with my mouth open and then she began to cuddle the poodle. What I have just witnessed, plus the lack of attention with my dog, has completely disgusted me with the care, or lack of, at Pet Smart. I will never go back there and hope the readers think twice before taking their precious animals to that place for grooming.
Dr. Kevin Burden License 5267 should have his license taken away. I took my 16 year old kitty who was going through kidney failure for 6 months but doing very well. An employee of mine recommended Banfield Hospital so I took her to the one in Lakewood, CO. When I went into the room, there were crumbs and dirt on the table and the walls were not washed. I wanted to run! I SHOULD HAVE!!!! The tech came in and she took notes on everything I told her about my baby. When the doctor arrived, he didn't even introduce himself. I explained everything about my girl and told him that all I wanted to know was how far her kidney failure had progressed. I told him that she is doing very well and eating well. I told him I wanted him to do a blood culture to find out her toxin levels. He didn't even do a thorough exam. I felt the cold aura from him and his touch on my little girl was not gentle. He gave her a rabies shot and I asked him why. I told him she never goes outside and the Vet in a northern Colorado town where I took her through her illness in the winter, stated they wouldn't give her shots because of her condition. He stated it was the law (yet he had no proof she needed one) and proceeded to inject her right leg. She cried out - SHE NEVER CRIED WHILE GETTING A SHOT! Never. I told him to stop and be careful. That night she started walking funny. I held her on the bed and comforted her. She decided to jump off the bed and hurt her left leg because her right was hurting. She died last night in my arms with my stepson holding me and petting her. I took her to another vet the day after the shot and both the tech and Vet stated that she should have never received that shot. They did all they could to help her. My baby is gone and I don't know what to do. Kevin Burden has complaints all over the internet. Why is he still hurting our beloved pets???
In regards to the cat adoption areas: I went into the Petsmart in Columbia MD and was appalled at how dirty the kitten adoption cages were. They had a few pieces of newspaper on the floors, water bowls attached to the cage doors that were way to high for tiny kittens to reach. My daughter and I complained to a manager and he said ok we can move the bowls down. He really didn't care. The other woman working there was not very concerned. It was terrible. No beds or soft areas for them to lay on. If they were being washed then why wasn't there something else to put in temporarily. I have always shopped at Petsmart and have adopted from groups that come bring in adoptable cats and kittens. I will no longer go to the Columbia MD petsmart. I will give all my business to the Bowie MD petsmart. They are more helpful and concerned about the pets there. The adoption area is always clean and the cats and kittens always have soft items to lay on. The food and water bowls are ALWAYS within reach of even the smallest kittens. The Bowie MD petsmart is on target. Always making sure the adoption area is taken care of.
I complained to the manager at the Petsmart at Tatum and Shea in Phoenix Arizona because I made an appointment to be the very first to have my dog groomed as usual in and out in 1 hour, so I said to myself?, why should I pay extra? they want to charge for an express, thats ok if you are in the middle of the day...but not the first person at 7 am. He tried to give me the double talk bla, bla... I stoped him and said I wasn't born yesterday...It is a trick to get us to pay more for grooming... and I didn't appreciate it, He tolld me to not come into the store anymore.. I won't and will let everyone I can know how they treat customers? I took my dog there for 6 years! They don't care! Thats the America we live in now...big corporations, no more Mom and Pops businesses where they care... Bill
STORE#: 1032 I'd give more stars, lastnight at 9:05 pm(after closing) I rushed in to fill out an application for a dog that "every Creature Counts" was displaying at this location. Last night I got terrific service from the closers that i held up for about ten minutes. The reason for my ONE star is that the manager at 5:00pm BREANNA was talking to me and my wife about the dog, she said that nothing has been said about the dog, they[petsmart] have no control/knowledge about adoption process. I asked her about calling the adoption manager at Every Creature Counts and she told me not to. I asked why and she said it's nothing that will prove useful and they[Every Creature Counts] find it rude to call that number unless volunteering to foster an animal. I called the number anyway, it was his day off so he called his assistant manager on duty, she told him to contact the store directly. He called me back and asked me the managers on duty, there were two, he said he'd call Breanna to have her fax my application so he could approve it personally. I waited five minutes so I tracked down Breanna and she said that "he" told her someone was chosen four hours ago and it was rude of me to call him when she told me not to. I called Justin(adoption manager at Every Creature Counts) and he said that he talked to her and he said that Breanna told him that it had been four hours since a fax discerning the approval of another client. I would like to formerly COMPLAIN; Breanna was short, rude, treated me like some punk, gave no effort to assist me one bit, she lied to me the first time and how do I know she didn't lie to Justin that the approval was chosen today. This has been my worst Customer service experience in my life. I've received rudeness from fast food places and I was a Customer Service Representative for inbound issues. When i told her i was going to call Justin again after she said approval chosen 4 hours ago, she asked me why. I told her " because you lied to me just 10 minutes ago that you knew nothing and you didn't bother to find anything, I'm calling him to see if you're not lying again to get me off your back" She replied to me "It doesn't matter what I do, I'm the manager and i run this store, those adoptions are the last thing on my mind, I don't even know why we keep homeless dogs in this store and calling him back wont benefit you at all, you're not getting that dog and you should just leave this store" I don't see how I deserve this treatment especially when I'm a guest of the store, I go once a week for cat food/treats/toys and because of her I am now going to shop exclusively at petco even though they're more expensive. I would like some sort of discipline towards this manager. If I return to this store it will only be at night and when Breanna isn't on duty. Your night crew is amazing, one of the guys from last night(I didn't catch his name) was there and he was helping us a lot and even helped us find things out.
We recently purchased two bags of wheat cat litter from the Petsmart at North Point Mall in Roswell, Georgia. Both bags were filled with weevils. We contacted customer service and they opened a complaint. That was over two months ago and we have not heard a word from the local store. We contacted customer service and they opened a second complaint and we haven't heard anything on that either. We were not asking for any kind of compensation, we just wanted to alert the store of the problem. However, since they felt we didn't deserve a response, we'll be doing our shopping at another pet supply store. Customer no-service strikes again.
I HAVE A QUESTION? I am starting to volunteer at a boarding facility in Illinois who house 30 shelter dogs from a high kill shelter out of Indiana. These dogs do not have collars in order for them to be walked. I was hoping your company would donate collars for these poor shelter dogs. They do not have much of a life and live in boarding just to save their lives. They do not get walked very much obviiously without collars. They desperately need some collars. they need heavy thick ones cause most of pit bulls. Please get back with me asap. Thank you so much. you may contact me at tlm1505@frontier.com. sincerely, Tina Mumaw
The Waterloo Iowa Pet Smart Store needs restructuring. The manager Wade is rude, arrogant and lazy, this includes with customers, Shelter org and some employees, and his demeanor is rubbing off on others obviously. This has been an ongoing problem for years and if he is any reflection of what others are to look uo to for an example this explains why more then a few employees behave somewhat the same. Also a woman with longer blonde hair (Lavone??) could not have been ruder at the counter when checking out, I had a question, she was curt, unmotivated and sent me off elsewhere instead of calling for help. There is a problem in this store with too many employees and with a PetCo right across the street this needs to be rectified before even more customers go elsewhere. I like that PetSmart has the Rescue-Shelter kittens in the store and is part of the reason I shop there and adopted from a great Rescue group there. My husband pointed out that there were sure a lot of floaters (dead fish) in the aquariums the other night. There are too many people that have good customer service and enjoy working with the public to have such a manager on board there. He's driving away business and good employees.
NEVER take your pet to petsmart to be groomed! I have watched them treat peoples pets horribly and without any cause. They must not hire professionals or even care to monitor the complaints because it appears to be nation wide. I live in Texas. Owners...stay and watch your pets! I just wonder what horror is going on in the back room where we cannot see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If a pet is too wiggly...stop. Do not jerk on it or get angry with it!! YOU are supposed to be caring for another persons pet who is like a family member! I'd rather a groomer call me and tell me they cannot groom my pet than for my pet to be treated in such an abusive manner~and is abusive to be jerked around, pushed hard, and yelled at! And what about the coworkers...standing by and allowing it to happen! I have decided to never purchase from petsmart ever again. I do not take my dogs their for grooming because I see how they treat other pets. C'mopn
Petsmart groomers are the worst. they do not know how to handle pets in a caring manner and are abusive. Jerking, pushing roughly, and yelling at a dog is abuse. Management needs to install surveillance monitors because the coworkers next to the abusers do nothing! and what goes on in the back room is probably far worse! I'm thinking the newstation may get a tip to investigate this....
Pet Smart store #1772 has one of the poorest managerial teams I have ever encountered within the past twenty-five years of my professional career. All of the managers except for the lady that is over the pet care department; berate both customers and their staff members everytime I have gone to purchase items at that location (which lasted the past 6 to 7 months). Recently within the past two months the shelves at this Pet Smart have hardly any merchandise on the shelves, etc., they are completely empty. I now drive out of my way to Petco to purchase the items I need for my pets. And their management team treat me and their staff members with the upmost courteousy. I have had many of my friends and family members experience the same problems with Pet Smart #1772. I do not imagine that location to stay in business much longer if they continue to run their store as they are at this point in time.
My girlfriend and I have used Petmart grooming services before they are most of the time very good at their profession, but the main reason we use them is because its close by and we know they take care of our dog. But yesterday my girlfriend decide to take our dog to get a bath and furminated, she new she would have to pay a fee for the furminator but they failed to tell her they where going to have to charge her for a premium cut. So when she went to pick him up they wanted her to pay 51 dollars which seems pretty pricy for a bath and a furminator, We both understand that it can be costly but I think the grommets should of said something since we don't have a price sheet to view. But the main reason why I am upset is that my girlfriend called me all upset and told me how they took advantage of her by not explain the price before it was to late, she doesn't like confrontation so I said I would call them and see of we could resolve the issue. So I called Petsmart #214 in Oklahoma and spoke to Lewis a presentation mgr, since the groomer wasn't working at the time, so he explained what happened and said they dd tell her and that she was lying. I thought that was pretty unprofessional to assume customers just lie since he was there when she payed for the groom. So I proceed to find out what all happend and he didn't like what I had to say and Lewis didn't care to explain to me what happend he just repeated how she was a lair, and then to top it off he sighed and hung up on me... I know we all have bad days it's human nature but if you can't handle dealing with customers then don't be in the job position you're in.
People love to complain!!!! I shop at PetSmart in Atlanta, GA and it is great.
I have been a longtime faithful customer, spending thousands of dollars a year bewteen my own pets and fosters. If you bring your dog in for grooming beware! My dog is not always dog friendly and everytime I bring her in I remind them not to let her near other animals. While I was paying for my services they allowed my dog to run around the salon, jump up and take cookies out of the bowl next to the register, etc. Someone came in with a small dog, and instead of kenneling her or putting her on a lead they allowed the behavior to continue. The small dog was placed on the counter and next to the treat bowl and my dog grabbed her! I was back in the salon just as this happened, and thankfully the dog was not killed considering mine is an 80 lb dog and this was a 6 lb dog. They paid for the other persons vet bills and I thought it was over with, boy was I wrong! The other owner sued me personally, almost a year after the incident and after all was said and done I settled with him. The other owner could have contacted me at any time, he had my cell number, but hey, some people are like that. I sent everything, the demand, the settlement statement, my cancelled check to Petsmart and asked to be reimbursed, I had been out of work recovering from cancer surgery and the financial hardship that this caused me has been difficult. I received a letter basically stating that the case is closed, they will accept no liability, its my dog, basically FU. from the time of the incident right through I continued to use their groomers, in a different store - I made sure that she noted in the computer about other dogs, she has been wonderful - but after speaking with their lovely Sedgwick CMS I will never step foot in a Petsmart again. I spent more on grooming in a year than what the settlement was for, and the fact that they wouldnt even reimburse me anything, hell I wasn't even offered a free grooming! I work with alot of people that do rescues, foster, etc., and I will make sure they all know - take your business elsewhere because Petsmart doesnt give a rats ass about their customers, they dont protect your animals from other animals, and they should be ashamed of themselves, I have never written a review like this but I feel people need to know that they dont protect your pets and they dont protect the customer, they accept absolutely no responsibility for the negligence of their actions!
I took my dog, Beau to a pet smart in Tucker Ga. to be groomed and cut short and boy, was he? The groomer told me that she had nicked his toenail and was putting medicine on him. I got him home and noticed how close she had shaved him. On Friday night I noticed he had scratched and chewed his side that it was a bloody mess. Also on top of his head was bloody. I had him groomed on a Sunday and took him back the following Sat. talked to manager on phone and he said the inhouse vet would have to determine if the scabs wer caused by groomer. He was very unprofessional and downright rude. The vet looked at Beau and said it was caused by the groomer, but the manager said I should have called earlier. I spent 150.00 on medicine and 46.00 on grooming, for a haircut. the manager, Tyler did pay for office visit. Bless his little hateful heart! That was only 38.00. I was treated very rudely and you can be rest assured that I will neven darken those doors again. Beware!
Banfield Vet. hospital is committing fraud. Do not go there. They quote me a price to see a feral kitten when I asked for the itemized cost the first visi. They gave me a price then pushed their plan. Since the single visit price I was told was around $80 and the plans initial signing plus first month would only be slightly more at $95 and would include the follow-up visits and spaying for $25 a month (only slightly more than my other total vets cost for all the equivalent services). I decided to try it because they are closer and more convenient. Being disabled, I thought the convenience would be worth it since the plan seemed like a fair deal. Unfortunately the kitten disappeared after it escaped three days later. I tried to find her and put up notices, thinking I had another three weeks before her next shotswould be due and then another before the next month's fee would be applied. Since she never was found, i figured I could call and cancel the plan, thinking that the costs that I was quoted for the visit along was comparable to the signing and first months fee that I had already paid, and since I wouldn't be able to use any of the serivces. All I can tell you is that not only did I encounter a brick wall, both in person and then on the 1-888 number I had to call, I found out that the money I had paid supposedly didn't even go to the hospital at all, so I was told by the a--hole, and who thus claimed I owed another $190 to reimburse them for the services that I got. So who does the money go to if not to the local hospital? Second, also I come to find out, that when they had itemized the visit on the paperwork, it stated that I got services worth $286.95! For shots and physical!! This is not what I was first quoted or I would have NEVER in a million years gone there. What a crock of shit. I argued with this jerk till I was blue in the face and having heart palpatations.Oh yeah did i mention I was on hold for 45 minutes before even talking to a person. I have years' worth of paperwork on numerous pets and rescues I have taken to my usual vets and the same exact service (physical and shots) is $71! So I can't see any one justifying charging $28 esp.when you consider that they were so misleading with what they originally quoted. At Banfield a technician examined her and took her in the back, so I didn't even get to see what they did, which is always sketchy, then I saw the vet for a whole 2-3 minutes. Where does that money go and for what! I guess the corporate office is doing crack and laughing. They are committing out and out fraud, and by screwing people such as myself over, it is going to come back to Petsmart ten-fold in lost business from my family alone. Then when I contact the animal rescue network I am associated with the is extensive and includes individuals, rescue groups, shelters in surrounding counties in three states, universities vet. school, they are really going to be hurt. Usually this network sends out 3-6 email everyday so everyone with a pet will know about Banfield with one click of a button. After that it's going to be the Better Business Bureau and on the from there with my complaints. Not only are they defrauding people, but they are preventing other animals from getting help by taking money from people that could have gone towards them. I have rescued 6 animals which I paid for out of my own pocket and didn't get reimbursd for in the past few years, in addition, to taking care of my own pets expenses. And I live on a small fixed income. Beware, if are you paying more tha $450 total out of pocket for all the shots and phyiscals and spaying/neutering (excluding flea Tx or other medications) then you are getting totally ripped off. Something else that I question about Banfield is their own "brand" of flea medicine. You don't know what you are getting, and I would never even consider it since pets can die from over the counter brands. It is unfortunate that this kitten got away, but my hopes are that she found her home, or else I am certain I would have found her. At least wherever she is she got her shots in addition to Revolution for fleas she was covered in (it also treats worms, ticks, and other thing) that I did not buy from Banfield. Please join me in boycotting Banfield and PetSmart, as they are not only doing harm to pet owners, they have already been in trouble with animal welfare organizations for using breeders who are commiting cruelty to animals. Please pass this message on to any animal lover you know.
