As some of you may know PetCo is launching a program to sell 10,000 dog training classes in the month of September "Saving Lives" which is true they finally have gotten the fact that trained dogs don't end up in the pound...but not sure what they think to accomplish by having hourly employees who don't even have to own a dog read a book and become certified dog trainers! Not only that they are giving these hapless employees the daunting task of training dogs in the aisles of the stores! yes dogs should learn to tune out distractions but people with buggys going thru the"classroom" or asking the dog trainer in the middle of class to answer a question or find something for them ...as many times the dog trainer is taking some time out of their regular work schedule on the floor to hold a class for an hour is not fair to the dog, the owner or the "dog trainer" how do I know this? I was duped into taking a six week class in the aisle of the store and after lesson number 3 when all I got was really about a total hour of the "dog trainers" attention i did not return. Upon asking for a refund I was told that my option for a refund expired after the end of my first class...but the training is "guaranteed" I explained to the manager...yes I can keep coming till my dog is trained...REALLY is it going to take me a year for a trainer in between stocking shelves and catching fish for my dog to walk properly on a leash? Thank goodness I did some more research before going to another trainer..gosh one with a proper facility and credentials and everything! and guess what for less money!!!! If PetCo wants to make this big splash they better rethink their motive is it really to save lives or is it the bottom line? Oh and by the way I added up my total amount of money I have spent since the start of this year at PetCo and it came to 2,384.00 those dollars will now become the "bottom line" at PetsMart, Southern Agriculture, Atwoods, Tractor Supply anywhere but there..guess by the number of unresolved complaints on this site PetCo really doesn't care..but I guess sooner or later the numbers of customers that quit walking thru their doors will finally catch up with them! Oh and the store with the great trainer was in Tulsa.

I worked for Petco for a while and can tell you the company is horrible. They treat their employees just as bad as their customers! They hire people who have no clue what they're doing and treat major issues like they're nothing to worry about. My pay had been messed up several times and if i wasn't on them about it, nothing would ever get fixed I would not get paid right. They just don't CARE.. about customers about employees about ANYTHING. I constantly had to get my paid vacation fixed because no one would ever put it in, which by that time my bills were overdue. I (and several others) have tried to get in touch with the higher up's which is impossible. You never get anyone on the phone and no response when leaving a messege. I got fed up and quit which is their loss because I am a veteran dog groomer who does a fine job. I took my skills to another employer who actually appreciates me as a person and a groomer. They also lost many clients who only went there because of me. I strongly recommend never working for Petco.

Everytime I have a problem with the fish I buy at my local Petco which I ususally loose at least 3 everytime I purchase any, I take them back and I hear the same story your ammonia leave is to high. Yet I test my leaves at least once a week, and show that they are fine or in the speck. This time I pickup 3 angel fish and put them in a newly done 55 gallon tank and lost all 3 in a week took them back and guess what the ammonia leave in the danger zone what is new and I said "you keep telling me that is the problem and that it is cause from the other fish and there deposits in the tank, he says yes well that is a good one sence the 3 fish I lost were the only fish in the tank or have ever seen the tank cause my other angel fish were to big to put with the small ones." So I came home and test the water for ammonia problems I my liquid tester show that there is no ammonia problem in the tank, so I am to the point where I am going to drive a hour to and hour and half just to buy my fish maybe have better luck. Very disappointed customer.

I tried for hours to log onto Petco's website to fill in a job application. It was an application for a dog trainer. The site kept saying that I had already signed up and was using an incorrect password, even though I had never signed up before. Finally, I called the IT help desk number, and was on hold for at least 30 minutes the first time, and finally hung up. At least 20 the second time, before someone in India answered my call. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE INFORMATION ABOUT MY ACCOUNT WAS T GIVE MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. That is beyond comprehension. Then, over in India, were their customer service computer center is, they inform me that it would not recognize my password because I HAVE A MAC. Their application service will not accept applications from Macintosh computers. ABSOLUTE TOTAL STUPIDITY. HOW CAN A CORPORATION THAT BIG AND WITH THAT MUCH MONEY NOT HAVE A SERVER THAT RECOGNIZES MACS? WHY IS THERE NO NOTICE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE "PETCO JOBS PORTAL?"

After going to the Bastrop Texas store (512)321-5800, I will never shop Petco (or as I like to say PETCOP-OUT)again. The people in the store are rude, there is no customer service. Even the acting manager was rude. While trying to contact customer service, it was outsourced to the Philippines. What is PETCO hiding from? If it was possible to do I would give them minus 20 stars.

I'm not making this post simply for the rating, but to make an accurate observation as to who actually shops at Petco stores. I have worked for this company for nearly 9 years, and while I am also not here to defend in anyway, my observations of complaints from this website just make me lol... Blame the company for products that other companies pay to have on their store shelf? Really? Cry me a river for gods sake. Complain about telephone customer service? Guess what... we deal with the same non-english speaking a**holes that you do. Complaint about customer service with employees and managers, on a website no less? Here's a thought, contact your local paper to do a self-review of the store your so disgruntle with. While I can't say that every store is as bad as people make them out to be, or that they are out-standing, working for this company for so long I have experienced first hand how the littlest dumbest things can make a customer go into an uproar just because they didn't get that extra special treatment... what are you the Pope? I didn't think so. So before you bash away on a company that offers so much to this country, helps raise money for animals EVERYWHERE, and has set the stage for all of your beloved Petsmarts (because without Petco, there would have been no Pet-Smart) take a moment to put yourselves in our shoes, the bottom of the chain guys who bend over backwards to clean up after your pets when your too ignorant to do it yourself, make sure you leave the store with all the best supplies for your pets, and ATTEMPT to offer you the best possible service with the tools we're given (and its not a lot to say the least if anyone is wondering). This is my two cents. For the rest of you... grow-up already.

We have been carrying our three poms in on a regular basis to have them groomed at the local Petco in Jackson,Tn. We received a 10% coupon in the mail from Petco and it did not say anything about not covering pet grooming. Only at the time to checkout were we informed that they could not accept the coupon. I think it is very unprofessional for a company to offer a discount and then not stand behind it after the services are rendered. We will surely go elsewhere from now on after seeing how Petco handles their coupon offers. Also, please don't send any more of your junk mail to my home.

Petco shouldn't even get a star, marineland stealth heaters were recalled, Petco pulled them from shelves but didn't tell anyone. Nice, thanx Petco. Was told can bring heater in for replacement, well guess what jackwagons my heater fried my reef tank, yeah the same reason they were recalled. No notice posted in store but these jerkoffs have my info on the stupid rewards card, manager at west covina store says since no receipt can give me last sale amount in cash, spoke to other Petco stores and was told they swap heaters out for same wattage, well guess some managers don't have brain capacity to think, remember boys n girls stay away from crack. I declined her offer, thanx again Petco because few times I was in there could have taken heater out for recall, instead my tank fried to over 100 degrees, the reason why heaters were recalled. Thanx Petco you pieces of shit

Please if there is anyone reading this from roanoke va never shop at the petco on brandon rd for the simple fact we talked with the employees there about there pets looking so sick and half dead the woman looked at me and said how are they suppose to look and i looked at my husband and say WOW they should know how they look as we have a lep geco and they was the same age and there gecos looks smaller than a pencil they looked half dead how can a store work and run this way how come onnoe will help anyone when they need help and why in the hell do we have people from overseas running customer service and we can even understand them... 2nd they also sell crickets should be 30 crickets for 5 bucks lol we got the package home and it had 11 crickets lol this store needs to get there act together its awfull

To bad they dont offer 0 star, thats the one I would have chosen. A new Petco opened up by my house, they have been open for 6 months or so. I have gone there a few times to purchase fish.. I always buy the feeders, because (A) they are chea[ and (B) I like to save them from becoming someones dinner. They first time I went I asked if I could pick out my own fish, the employee said he couldn't do that but he handed me the net and said if you want to catch your own it's ok with him. So I proceeded to catch the fish I wanted and he put them in a bag for me and I brought them home. Second time I go there to save more fish, I was once again told that I could not pick out any of them and told the guy that the last employee let me pick my own out. So he waid that he would get the ones I wanted, so I got home and put the fishies in my pond and everyone is happy. Third (and last time) I go into to Petco, I fun into the "Nurse Hatchett" of managers. Once again I asked if I could pick out the fish I wanted to which she replied "I see 300 hundred fish in there and it is NOT our POLICY to pick out fish, you get which ever ones I catch. There was a very cute little black one (I have never seen a "black" gold fish) I asked her if maybe she could try to catch a black one in the net as she moved the net in the water a couple of times. Once again I was told I could not pick them out, I said to her "you mean I cant even pick out the ones in the net that you caught and again she told me NO!! I asked to speak to the manager to which she blurted out I am the manager. What would be the harm if she had picked out a black fish for me or not, it would have taken all of 2 minutes and she would have accomplished, what most stores try to accomplish "A HAPPY CUSTOMER" now instead of a happy customer they actually lost a customer. Does that make sense.

I don't know why Petco sells small reptiles when they can't keep up with the demand to sell crickets to feed them! My son bought a leopard gecko in March '11, every week I go into the store to buy crickets, I'm told "Sorry we are out and if I sell you any, we won't have enough to feed our animals". They sell me the "crickets to go" which is a small box of crickets but there are less crickets for twice the price. I started going to the small pet store across the highway but they are now out of business (due to Petco). Now there in no where in a 15 mile radius to get crickets! This week I went in on Monday was told "no crickets but I have a shipment coming in tomorrow", the manager said he was doubling his cricket shipments due to the other store going out of business. I went in today, Thursday, and they're all out! I had to buy the crickets to go-AGAIN! My guess is it's a gimmick to make more money! There is another pet store on my way home from work, I'll stop there to get the crickets and give them my business!

I wonder how many of these people are working for petsmart ? or P.E.T.A or are just trying to get something for free.Please people go get a life.All the people at the petco in dale city VA are great.And will do anything to help you.Maybe not every one is perfect but the same goes to every other company out there.

I will never shop here again. After being a loyal customer I went to exchange bird seed for a different brand and was told that even though my check had already cleared my bank they would not give me back the $7.00 in cash, but only as a store credit. The manager on duty said Policy states it must be 10 business days with no exceptions!!! I called the head manager the next day and asked if that was true. He said yes. They don't care if we come in 30 times a week the policy is the policy! I was shocked and saddened as we own a store in this town and would never think of treating a customer in this way. Fortunately we have another store called Pet Supermarket in town and they now have our business. PETCO won't be in town long.

My lady bought my 4m old English Mastiff (Duke) a fleece mat for the 900 series cage of his from the Petco near Liberty Rd. in Owings Mills. Unbeknownst to us, Duke is allergic to it or something that's on it. I'm in the Beltsville area, so naturally I am NOT driving to Balt. to exchange something when there is a dozen Petco's here. So, I go to the Petco in Beltsville(next to Domino's) to exchange this mat. I called before I went to make sure all was fine with an exchange. Upon my arrival, I located the man I spoke with on the phone(Bernard). I gave him the mat with its original packaging and he got amnesia on me. I informed him again, as I did on the phone, that I am not in possession of the receipt. So he feels the need to explain to me that I need a receipt for the REFUND...I never spoke of getting my money back. All I have been saying is exchange. Being as tho my car is acting funky, I chose to walk to this store(2min walk) as oppose to driving to my regular store. After getting the whole exchange/refund sorted out, Bernard tells me I need the receipt for an exchange too. Again, I have to explain to Bernard PETCO's return policy, even though it is on the back of every roll of receipt paper AND Bernard is on the register. So he still is stuck on it until I ask him feed some receipt paper through the register. Printed in BOLD RED letters is Petco's return policy. I show him, since a customer is clearly never right with this company and now his pride kicks in. He states that even though he has read what someone with a higher pay grade than him has said to do, he is not gonna do a return without a receipt. EXCHANGE!! NOT REFUND/RETURN!! So , I show him, it states that "without original receipt, no refund will be issued but a Petco gift card will be issued for the amount that said item is selling for at time of return". He calls his manager at that time, who obviously was somewhere ear-hustling because she just walked right over without batting an eye at anybody and just snapped "U need a receipt!!" and walked away. NEVER will this store get any money from me. Beltsville Petco= 0 star rating!! Bad service, bad policymakers or followers rather. I, along with my 2 sisters, who also own huge dogs(Presa de Canario & Bordebeaux) always go all the way into Laurel to the Petco there. Smaller store, wider variety of dog food though. Collectively, there is no way we don't spend $2k a month there in food alone. I, alone spend $673 every 3 weeks. This store obviously does NOT follow normal Petco policy. Staff is great and helpful. Staff member, not a manager, called me the other night to inform me on a fish matter I needed help with. THAT is customer service!!! 5 STARS FOR THE LAUREL PETCO!! They go above and beyond for the customer. I'll be down there immediately when my car get good or I hitch a ride with one of my sisters. We all live in the same area. Too bad for Belt. Petco, we coulda boosted your sales.

Today, my husband went into Petco to purchase 30 crickets. There was only 1 cashier and 1 person in the fish department. The store was busy and my husband had to wait 1/2 hour to get CRICKETS!!! This is not the first time this has happened. Incidentally, I've been going to this Petco on Serene in Las Vegas for years. Does anyone who's a regular see that this organization fires people left and right? Just when you get to know someone that works there, they're GONE!!! Like the wind...I would never work for this corporation ever. If I had a choice about shopping for crickets, I would definitely find another place to purchase them. They sure as hell are NOT reasonable with prices either.

we bought 2 guinea pigs from the delafield wisconsin store in november 2009,this puchase was eventful free.we decided to buy 3 more.they were tiny when we brought them home,almost immediatly we saw running eyes,sneezing.we called the store,told them they were sick,the girl at the store(stephanie)told me we had to sell them back to the store so they could take them to the vet.when they were done being treated we could get them back.she called us 4 days later and said we could pick up 2 out of 3 of them.i said to her i thought the one was still sick. stephanie and the manager(tracy green)assured me they were fine and that i could pick up the third one in a few days.well we got the two they released home.but sammy the one i thought was sick was very lathargic.i called a private vet to have her seen,the vet told me she was close to death.she had a severe upper respitory infection and because she was so young that made it worse.we called tracy green at petco in delafield and demanded they pay our vet bills.eventually they did,after a long uphill fight.those poor babies are 14 months old and are still sickley.petco corporate never answered my letters and all i got was a lot of crap from the store.infact tracy told me if i caused more problems she would sell our 3rd pig she still had possession of.shame on them.NEVER BYE A PET FROM PETCO.PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to the Petco in Patchogue, New York today to get my dogs their vaccinations. I bring a lot of rescue dogs to get groomed at Petco in Patchogue before they get adopted out. I work with many rescue organizations in Suffolk County Long Island. I bought two dogs today at 10 am to get vaccinated and had a wonderful experience with the Vetco Vets. At around 11-11:30 I was finished and went to the grooming department to ask a question about one of the rescues and was going to make an apointment for three other dogs who are comming in next week. The female manager in the grooming department was so rude and unprofessional. She first said can I help you? so I asked her a question about one of the dogs anal sacs and she walked away and rudley smirked and pointed from far away and said they are up there and under her rolled her eyes and walked into the back room. The nice young man saw what happened and came to me to answer the question and he remembered one of the dogs that I had. But I feel the manager should not be working with animals. She was not only rude to me but also seemed to scare the annimals that were on the grooming table. She doesn't even seem to care about them or customers. At this point I am not going to bring any more dogs to get groomed there or buy the food and supplies. I will also report this to all the rescues that I work with in Suffolk county so they will bring their dogs elsewhere. I never had an experience like that before in my life. the people in sarasota, fl are negligent and incompetent fools lead by a manager that is worse.....they sell spoiled food with bags of food that have cocoons on them and a green product that turned white sits on a shelf waiting to be sold....called corp and they are worse than all of them....summary is, i shop now at petsmart that is 2 miles away....bye petco, happy spoilage and filth..........

I WILL NEVER SHOP OR GET MY DOG GROOMED AT PETCO- ANNAPOLIS, MD!!! THE MANAGER GARY IS EXTREMELY RUDE AND INSULTING. I have been a PETCO customer for over three years and have patronized PETCO Annapolis for Grooming Services and to purchase food and supplies for my dog. On Monday May 9th my dog, Lexie had a grooming appointment at PETCO Annapolis. She was dropped off at 12 noon and I picked her up around 4:45pm. When I returned home I noticed a flea that was embedded in her skin. When I called the store I asked to speak with the manager, I spoke with the store manager- Gary. When I described what happened he immediately told me that I am “lying” and there is no way possible my dog could’ve gotten a flea/tick from his store. I told him that I have been a customer of his store for about three years and since that time I have had no complaints whatsoever with the grooming services, it’s just that I have never seen a flea/tick on my dog when she returned from grooming. Before my dog was groomed she was given a single dosage of Frontline two weeks ago. He told me that I need to understand how Frontline works and that my dog was probably flea infested before she came to the store. I asked him if anything could be done to rectify the problem and he said no. He informed me that I couldn’t get a refund because the service was already rendered. At that time I asked if I could speak to another manager and he gave me the phone number to PETCO Customer service. I asked for the district manager name and address and he told me that I am not authorized to receive that information. When I asked him for his name and told me it was Gary, when I asked for his last name he told me that “he would never give me that information” and promptly hung up the phone. I didn’t call that number but instead contacted the corporate office to file a complaint. I am sorry to say that I will not patronize any PETCO stores nor utilize their grooming services. I am amazed and disappointed at the blatant disrespect I received when speaking to the Petco store manager.
