I am an ex employee at pep boys, and let me tell you, they have a crew of incompetent employees. Every time I walk through the door every one is so miserable and un happy. Then when the district manager comes in he never takes a moment to say hello or how can I help you to any one instead he walks around on his phone cursing and joking around with whoever he feels like talking too... We also had a meeting about customer service which was the same thing over and over with nothing informative just b/s we were told to go on sites like yelp to give us publicity and pretend like were customers and say nothing but good things and praise our managers and mention them by first name... Lol this company is really ran by crappy managers and when they see some one doing well they will hinder them, and also try to get rid of them because they fear for their jobs, they raises and benefits are mediocre so employees are always so unhappy.... Today is the day i quit and I'll never look back... Have a good one....
on 11/02/11 went into store 0175 willow grove pa to get my 4th battery replaced previous 3 were bosch batteries which failed within 2 years.the first three times i took batteries in myself and recieved replacements.this time i thought i would pay to have system checked.this is a classic car that i spent 20,000.00 in last 5 years restoring.after a 3 hour wait there was a problem. the hood shut and they couldnt get it open.they asked me to go into shop to try to open it?as soon as i pulled on the hood release i told mechanic it didnt feel the same.i then watched them push and pull on hood with no luck.needless to say i was sent on my way with the hood locked shut.the next day after work i was able to put a wratchet wrench in between the hood and bumper because they bent the hood from pulling on it while latched shut.to my amazement i found the hood release cable smashed behind the battery that was installed.i then called the store and asked for service mgr.he was not there left all info with acting mgr and was told i would hear from him the next day.no response.called again no response.10 days later recieved a call thought it was the store but it was a servey about my service that day.i flipped out.almost a month later ive been lied to ignored and made to drive a car with an open hood to get three estimates.as of today 14 days later no response.as a former mgr of a retail store i dont know how they survive treating customers this way. may be they sell a lot of parts or do they just ignore you till you go away.i am not going away!

I went to your Lake worth store#194 today. I called before and spoke to Paul Armand. I asked if they did Tire plugs, and He said yes, that if I came in now he would repair the tire and because of a new rewards program it would be Free. Naturally I was doubtful because I had alredy gone to Firestone,Goodyear and Tire Kingdom in greenacres and they all tried to tell me I had to buy two new tires[[The back tires had sheetrock screws in them],the other stores even refused to give me air. Theyre was a good 1\2 penny depth left on the tires, and Paul and the whole crew expertly and quickly fixed my tires, and at NO Charge!!!! I am in my late 50s,divorced and was once CEO of 2 seperate companies.I am semi-retired, sit on the Board of 2 Publicly-traded companies. I was very Impessed with the level of Professionalism ans service I recieved and would recomend PEP BOYs ,espcially the Lake Worth Road #194 Store to all my friends, family and all those I meet. Thanyou for restoring my faith in Mankind.........
If there was a "0" rating I would give Pep Boys a sub-zero. I took my truck in for service and altho they didn't run a diagnostic I was sold 200.00 of repairs which lasted only 2weeks. I took my truck back to Old Hickory Nashville location to learn their mistakes were actually my fault- because I ask them to change the oil when I arrived. I am a Dental Hygienist not a mechanic. I have voiced my displeasure with customer service but the official responce seems to be ignore the complaint long enough and the complaintant will go away. Problem resolved!! I am amazed this company continues to be in business. I took my truck to Firestone who actualy ran a diagnostic, ( I thought this was standard proceedure ) and repaired Pep Boys repairs. I am on my way to BBB, not that I expect PepBoys to be a member and regulatory agencies for resolution if possible and if not- at least to warn future cutomers of Pep Boys incompetence and sub standard business practices. first and last visit but you bet i will tell everyone i meet of my negative experience.
I was charged $135.87 for what was represented to be a NEW Bosch alternator. When the alternator failed and I sought a replacement under the "Limited Lifetime guarantee", I then found out that the Bosch alternator which was represented to be new was in fact "remanufactured" and not new. What I was offered as a replacement was a remanufactured ProStart alternator that sells for $104.(It is remanufactured in Mexico) In other words, I was "screwed" twice. Bosch no longer sells to Pep Boys-I wonder why.
mentally deficient mechanics at pep boys 1700 joppa rd baltimore md wanted two new tires on front of car plus front end alignment they put new tires on rear and old rear tires on front for alignment idiots said could not put new tires on front dont know how they stay in business

I don't know how to start or where to began. There just OutRageouS I went in thinking my transmission was the issue when it was my brakes and I had just had them done on 7/23/2011 and it was only 9/20/2011 they say that the melt on the pads were rubbbing together and that I need to change them I don't know no better so I said ok. then he comes back and says I need CALIPERS,BRAKE HOSE AND BRAKE FLUID then he comes back and say I need some ROTORS which I also had changed. So I leave and an hour or two after they call and say come to the store cause you need something eles.Get there I need a MASTER CYLINDER,they charge me a arM and a Leg. Know I've paid and I going home my car driving funny so I go back and he tells me that I need transmission fluide I put that and run the !#@$ on.Mind you they said that all I needed know was two new front tires and I should be good. I didn't have the money for two new tires so I brought used one's. As soon as I put the tires on the car started making the same sound it was late, so first thing morning I took it back to a pepboys near me and I give him the recipt and the keys and left. When I came back he said that I needed HUB ASSEMBLY BOTH AND OUTER TIE ROD END BOTH.I called Customer Complaint made my complaint and they said that the only thing they can do is what they were told to do which tell me to go get the free bearing thatwas making the noise. But te Manager told me didn't see how they did a Brake Inspection and didnt see all these problems with the brake system.I was rubbed NAKED OF MY SKIN. I HAVE 4 KIDS TO TAKE CARE OF ALL BY MYSELF YOUR COMPANY WILL COME DOWN AND DON'T ASK WHY CAUSE THERE IS A GOD up there!!!!!!!!
Today, October 18, 2011, went to Pep Boys, in Willingboro, NJ. thinking this was going to be a simple experience, turned out to be one of the most distressing. I wanted to schedule an appointment for an oil change, simple right, and got in to a shoting match with the associate name Keith, who set the appointments. I asked for a particular tech. to work on my car. This tech., I like his work and trust his work. I was told he was not working at that time. So, I asked when was the next time he would be working? Instead of telling me the next time I would be able to schedule an appointment with the tech., I requested, I got yelled at. The Keith, stated rudely, he could not give me the information. So, tell me how I was going to schedule an appointment, with the tech.of my choice, to work on my car. I had to tell Keith, what an idiot he is and he better try and keep this job, because he was to stupid to work any place else. Well you know, I won't be having my car service at Pep Boys.
We took our truck to the PB on 28th St. & Bell in Phoenix today to have a nail removed from the tire and the oil changed. We were treated like we were an inconvenience and was it would take them an hour to finish the job. Two and a half hours later they finally called and said it was ready and we picked the truck up. Later tonight I noticed the nail still in the tire and sure enough, not even the oil change. Total Fraud! Avoid Pep boys at all cost!
This is the worst service I have ever experienced at an autoshop. I have read bad review about pep boys online, but gave them the benefit of the doubt and tool my car there and they tried to rip me off. I already agreed to pay turn $140 for a new tire to replace my flat tire (which was overpriced as it is), but they tried to charge me an extra $49 for taking the tire off and another $50 for using their tools. I have never heard of this kind of service. Their customer service was non-existent and they were very rude. How do they expect to run a business this way??!
iam very sorry that i sent a pogo game to the ceo i play games on pogo sorry that i put people in a franked iam not hitler
We would like to thank employees of PepBoys in Nashua NH. Being outsiders and our first time in the city not knowing any repair shop, we were at their mercy and could not go anywhere else with our vehicle, it had to be fix. We were given a quote that morning and agreed on a price which was reasonable. They started that morning and through the day more work needed to be done than we expected and agreed on another price that was still very reasonable. The mechanic that done the work stayed after his shift to make sure that the car was ready and safe to continue our vacation. Here is a prime example that they could've took advantage of us. The staff were super nice. Being our first time at PepBoys because there's none in our area, we will recommend PepBoys to our family and friends. Thanks again Ray & Anna
Pep boys in Santa fe and Albuquerque New Mexico don't even deserve one star. I have had a horrible experience with the tires from these people. Believe me, while I was in both these stores every customr that came in to their stores had nothing but complaints. How do they manage to stay in business???? They manage to @#%# just about evey vehicle that goes into their shop. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PEPBOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it would be nice if they didn't put their phone on automatic hangup everytime you call their phone number.. i've tried over 20 times to contact their shop about having work done today 9/10/11. all i got was the phone being picked up then automatically hanging up on you... this is your moreno valley, ca. location on sunnymead blvd.
A little over two months ago I went to a Pep Boys in Orlando, Fl, near Hiawassee Road. I went in to have my brakes replaced. I ended up paying $439.00 for JUST front brakes, and they still squeaked the day after I had them done. I am writing to say I am not pleased with how I was treated, and over charged. I have always gone to Pep Boys to have everything done on my first car, until now, I will never go back. I got walked all over because I am a female. When I was told the price of $439.00, like any normal person I wanted to leave. Every time I tried to leave they had an excuse as to why I shouldn't, almost making me feel like I had no choice; I have working in the service industry for a year in a half, the customer is always right. I told them the price was too high, and instead of helping me out, they told me it was unsafe to drive my car. I told them I had to be at work in an hour, and they told me they could fix them in 20 minutes, when the original estimated time was an hour and a half. None the less, the day after getting my brakes changed, I got a flyer in the mail from Pep Boys saying "Brake Change only $99.00". So not I will tell everyone to tell everyone they know to never go to Pep Boys again because they are liars, theifs, and they mistreat women. I am going to talk to my bank tomorrow to stop the payment on the check(the check bounced the first time because I am an 18 year old girl just trying to support herself), because my brakes weren't fixed and I was over charged. I hope something is done about this because when I wrote to the customer service on pepboys.com, nothing was done besides an email back saying thanks for your feedback. email: megnstanley9@hotmail.com
sales people r friendly but mechanics have no clue what they are doing I may be a woman, bt know more than they do about cars. joke of a place
I went to Pep Boys in San Bernardino for a brake job and got royally ripped off. They charged me a little over $600 for putting new rotors on the front wheels of my truck and for putting in a new master cylinder. After I paid them they informed me that the brake power booster was weak. They did not advise that a vehicle is almost impossible to stop without this contraption and allowed me to drive off. At the first red light I came to I attempted to stop to no avail. The truck went right on out into the intersection despite my efforts to stop it. I immediately returned to Pep Boys accompanied by my seven-year-old son and told them what happened. They said it was the brake power booster with an uncaring attitude and never installed it even though they knew it was needed. Lukily for me and my son no one was coming down the street when we entered the intersection. Two days later a different Pep Boys store that worked on the truck called me to advise that they had to replace the master cylinder. Later the same day they also said thy redid everything the previous store had done and and considered it inaaprpriate to put another store down. My and my son's life was endangered by those uncaring, unscrupulous, and incompetent idiots. I want to be reimbursed for the money I spent in San Bernardino or may file a law suit for them endangering our lives. Yes, I am incensed.
I went in on 12/24/11 to have my master cylinder replaced and by brake fluid exchanged. When I picked up my car at the end of business day (they closed at 6pm, I was there at 5:27pm) there were multiple new problems with my car.. Here is a list of the new problems I am facing: - Tachometer and Speedometer now goes to highest number available when starting the car - Odometer back light does not stay lit at 100%:. When I turn my vehicle off, it goes back down to the minimum brightness and remains there until I readjust it.. - Dome light no longer turns on manually or when I open the car doors - Electric locks no longer open the doors with my alarm key fob or by the door controls". The only time the door control will work is when the engine is running!. - Stereo no longer works". It doesn't turn on, the digital clock is not on,. When I told the guy working when I picked it up (Aaron and Omar - both very nice) they said to come in on 12/26 and they would fix it no charge (of course)/. I went in to speak with the service manager on 12/26/11 - Mike Barron. He stated that the problems I am now having do not have anything to do with the service I went in for and if I want them to look at I can leave my car overnight so they can look at it and give me a quote. I let him know that I should not have to pay for anything and he said that wasn't his problem. I continued to try to talk but he walk away from me. I went in with a working vehicle and I expect to have a working vehicle when I leave. This has been the very worst experience. I have been a Pep Boys customer since I got my very first car 10+ years ago. I am still trying to figure out what my next steps are regarding this situation....
