I took my 2004 Chevy Malibu to Pep Boys in Arlington Texas at 1212 N. Collins. I was told that my fuel pump had gone out and that it would cost $1,348 to fix it. The cost for a fuel pump was quoted at $513 when Pep Boys sells fuel pumps for $229.99. Then they want to replace the fuel injectors which was unnecessary. I told the manager there that I would have my car towed to my house and that I would do it myself. I worked in a motorcycle shop for three and a half years, they would never pull something like this. I also worked on cars since the 80's. These guys are crooks! They are ripping people off! Tell your friends not to go to Pep Boys at all! Maybe when they go broke one day, they will learn not to screw over people!
Hello everyone out here on the site of PeP Boys, I too had a bad experience at the Virginia Beach, va Pep Boy location and did manage to get the Corporate information for help see below I hope this help you all. Pep Boys customer case line to obtainb a case # 1-800-737-2697, also POC for Coro customer Service Rep: Erika @ 215-430-9000 ext-9525 or 9572. Hope this helps you all, I had to take my car back for crankshaft amd camsahft seals and timing belt @ $591.00. I took it to another Pep Boy and they said they work was shootie at best and would redo the job at no cost to me.
I took my car to Pep Boy in November for a rattling noise in my car. Pep boys told me I needed a NEW power stering pump. Well from November until present I have had FIVE power sering pumps replace by PEP Boys because they tell me the manufacture company they use the parts are faulty because they are rebuilt. I explained that is not what they told me the manager said new. Today was my last resourt with pep boys the power sering pump fell out and I almost killed myself and my co-worker. They told me it couldn't be the power stering pump. I told them when you can't turn the wheels what ele is it. The tow dirver even looked under the hood of the car before he tow it and said it was the pump. Pep Boys has more stories than Walt Disney. I do not believe they put in Five different pumps I won't even call them new. I am about to sue this company for 6 month of lost time from work. I will never in my life use them again or get another dine of my money and I will bad mouth them to everyone I know. They claim they will give me my money back but had to send a check. When I asked for a receipt I got another story how he couldn't give me one right now because had to contact corporate. So I told them Hand wright me out a receipt so when I don't get the check in the mail I have something in wrighting. They were shocked I was bright enough to ask such as question. So we will see what happens.
I NEED a call from a district manager. I had the worst experience of my life at the Pep Boys location in Scottsdale Arizona on Scottsdale Rd. and Oak. First of all NONE of the morons knew what was going on at this location. I was quoted the wrong price over the phone and had to argue to get that price. It wasn't only verbally quoted but the guy printed out the paper with the wrong quote on it. I finally got them to agree to honor the quote but then was given shitty service. I dropped my car off at 7:30am and didn't get it back until 5:30pm. All it needed was 2 rear struts with the coil springs and the back alignment. This is NOT an all day job. Then when I got it back there were now 3 engine lights that were on my dashboard. I immediately pulled back into the shop and had them look at it. Tweedle dee and tweedle dumb couldn't figure it out. I got pissed and left and the next day took it to the Pep Boys in Tempe which was GREAT. This was night and day from the experience I had the previous day. As I am driving my car it is pulling to the right. I just got my alignment done so it shouldn't be pulling and it wasn't pulling before I brought it in. The Tempe Pep Boys informed me that there is a certain procedure to follow with power vehicles to not trigger the lights on the dashboard. They didn't follow that procedure and now their machines won't register my car to reset it. The only place that can reset this is a dealership. So they told me that the Scottsdale location needs to pay for my dealership visit of $100.50. Then for the alignment they had to redo it because it was done incorrectly. They said that there was one side that wasn't even done! I am posting negative comments wherever possible. Any website that I can post to I will and I posted on Pep Boys Facebook page. By the way, the manager at this location is a complete moron and is not qualified for a managerial job. Just ridiculous. Don't waste your time or money at a Pep Boys especially the Scottsdale location.
I purchased an oxygen sensor bank one that was faulty and the store 4301 located in lake worth rd Florid refused to refund me my money $ 84.79. This has to be the worse experience I have had. The representative I spoke to didn't even want to help had to go the back room to print out return policy. I will never consider buying parts from pep boys ..the rep name is Rene . They need to be more knowledgeable with they sell and their policy.
I bought a can or spray paint in the pep boys store on Victory boulevard on Staten Island to touch up my car. the car is 17 years old so the placard is unreadable and tried to match by eye, i got the paint home to the car , matched the cover to the car, it didnt really match so i brought it back to pep boys explained the situation to the manager who accused me of using some of the paint and trying to return the rest of the can,she popped the cap and smelted the can SAID SHE SMELT PAINT,DAH WHAT ELSE WOULD U EXPECT TO SMELL WHEN U PUT YOUR SNOUT TO THE CAN....ROSES??? and accused me of using it, is she serious, i never used the spray paint and wouldn't bother going all the way back there if i had. all i wanted was to get a darker green THAT WOULD COME CLOSER TO THE COLOR OF THE CAR she was very rude. I WILL NEVER GO TO A PEP BOYS STORE EVER AGAIN.
Pepboys is a rip off and cant even contact corporate directly...they Changed my water pump and my car still has a leak..after getting one of the mechanics to admit they might have caused it the wanna take no responsibility for it and have the nerve to charge me another $534 are y serious..never again will I use pepboys especially the Lancaster location they are rude and can careless that it was their fault..good luck trying to reach corporate
Very simple,I called the store in Stockbridge Ga on friday they told me they would honer the tire and rotation warranty of Big 10 Tires sense they bought Big 10 Out. Great I thought drove 9 miles to the store Bruce Casey the service manager then told me it would take 3 hours just to get the vehicle in to the work bay, to change oil/filter rotate and ballance tires.Pressed for thie because of another appointment I oppted the go back early the next.Did!!! arround 8:50am explained to them that all i wanted to do was oil/filter/rotate and ballance simple.yet to my surprise! 11:45 am they finally got done.Went out to my vehicle looked at my tires and noticed the never rotated nor ballanced tires I was flabbergasted.2hr55min all i got was oil change..approached Bruce and he wanted me to let them put it back in shop to do what i asked them to do..Maybe this manager needs to be reminded what the best form of advertisment is.. AND THAT WOULD BE WORD OF MOUTH FROM COUSTOMERS YOU ARE FIRED NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE PEP BOYS FOR ANYTHING
We've been buying tires for 4 cars from the Piscataway, NJ store for a few years. On Feb.19, 2012, we brought our daughters car in for a blown-out tire, which was purchased a year & a half ago and still covered by the road hazard warranty. They didn't have the tire and said they would have it the next day, so we left the car expecting it to be ready Monday afternoon. Starting at 1:00pm, Monday, we called the store 4 times to find out the status and each time they had a different excuse, but would check into delivery status. Each time they said they'd call back in 10-15 minutes. We're still waiting for a call! At 7pm, our 4th call to them, we were told they had no tire and said that they would look for an available tire from another store. It was obvious that they had the car all day, were getting phone calls about the status of the tire and never looked for a tire the entire day! At that point my husband expressed his complete disgust with their total disregard for customer satisfaction. We picked the car up that night because we couldn't leave it a 3rd day for a tire! They get a tire and the car gets dropped off again on Feb. 21st at 12 noon. My daughter picks it up at 6:30, walks to the car parked in their parking lot to find it has been HIT!! No manager is there, but the employee calls him and he says the only thing we can do is file a police report. When she called the manager today to let him know that we intend to contact the corporate offices and maybe he would like to see the damages before we do, he blew her off stating they are not liable for cars in their regular parking lot! The manager didn't even have the decency to offer an apology to a 23 year old working hard to maintain her car and now because of their negligence by not properly securing their customers cars while in their care (they just plop all customer cars in their regular parking lot) she has to spend more money to have repairs at an auto body shop. If they had gotten the tire on Monday like they said they would or had proper security for cars in their care, this probably never would've happened. This is the 2nd incident with Pep Boys in a year and we are so done with this company you could put a fork in me!! Amazed that they're still in business after reading all the complaints! They might not be for long! Will also make sure we spread the word.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR BRAKES ON 2/18 AT 9AM THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WOULD BE READY AT 1PM SO I WENT AT 1:45 PM TO GIVE THEM TIME TO FINISH MY CAR THEY HAD TO ORDER A PART THE DRIVERS SIDE FIT BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE DID NOT I STOOD AROUND UNTIL 5:30 AS THE MECHANIC TRIED OVER AND OVER TO FIX MY CAR I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE READY ON 2/20/12 THE MANAGER WAS BEING PAGED AND HE IGNORED THE PAGE AND CONTINUED TO TALK ON HIS CELL PHONE HE WAS RUDE SO I BECAME REALLY ANNOYED BECAUSE I MISSED A DAY OF WORK WHEN THEY COULD HAVE TOLD ME THERE WAS A PROBLEM EARLY IN ORDER FOR ME TO MAKE PROVISIONS TO GET TO WORK IN THE BRONX I THINK I SHOULD BE ACCOMODATED FOR THE INCONVIENCE THAT I EXPERIENCED AT THE PEPBOYS IN LONG ISLAND CITY QUEENS I WILL BE FORWARDING A LETTER TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IN REGARDS TO THE SERVICE I DID NOT RECEIVE IN A TIMELY MANNER IM GOING TO PICK MY CAR UP AT 12PM AND I WILL NOT EVER USE PEPBOYS AGAIN AND THE MANUFACTURE THAT THEY ARE USING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A COMPANY THAT IS EFFICIENT AND RELIABLE WITH MECHANICS THAT KNOW THEIR JOB.
I went in on 01/25/2012 for a Adjustable Pulley replacement on my 2007 Ford Focus and the mechanic for some reason needed to pull the engine pulley however did not follow a 5 page protocol from FORD on how to properly remove the engine pulley . Cause my timing to jump and crashed my engine, destroying all 4 cylinders this repair is now over $7152 dollars. The CHEAP paper pushers at PEP BOYS Corporate want to settle with only $4025 dollars by replacing my engine with a used engine. PLEASE DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THE STEVENS CREEK BLVD PEP BOYS they have UNTRAINNED MECHANICS> STORE # 873 I NEED MY CAR FIXED
I bought and had installed a new battery at the Rohnert Park store Jan 27, 2012. They put it in and all was well until Sunday morning when my car was completely dead. My roommate went out and found that the one battery cable was very loose and could not be tightened. Part of the reason was that they sold me those little felt "protectors" and that kept the battery cable from sitting all the way down on the post and being properly tightened. I got stuck another time and although I was dressed up I had to go under the hood and hit the top of the cable to get it down so there was a connection. Since then I have removed the "protector" they sold me and put on without my permission. PEP BOYS YOU HAVE LOST MY TRUST, NEVER AGAIN. Also when I called and told the manager Scott he hung up on me!!!
I bought my son a cool red 4 wheeler that was sitting in pep boys in savannah Ga.They said it was ready to go just ad gas and rolled it out to my trailer. One month after I gave it to my son for Xmas he is riding and the front wheel came off. Thank god he wasnt going fast enough to get hurt. When asking pep boys about it they said they must have sold me it still in the box and I must have put it together wrong. It was complete when I bought it and they are liars. Now I am trying to get some help from main headquarters.I will let you know how that goes.
I have been a PEP boy customer for years here in East Brunswick, NJ. and over the years I find they have forgotten the meaning of "customer service". If the manager-Cliff or Dan- is waiting on you and the phone rings, they pick it up and service the phone customer regardless of the complexity of the caller's issues. When I stated that's rude, I was advised "it's coorp policy" Really, shove me aside and take the next person in line, so to speak is "corp policy"??? the other day I brought car in for a major job $585. I received a call it was all done and we could pick up the car. My wife called later in the day and confiremd we would pick up the car in the evening. "OK" was the response from whomever was on duty. When I got there at 5:00PM I was told by some young man they could not find the car keys and the car could not have been worked on as the "master mechanic" was out ill. I took the car this morning without their knowledge-so much for security- and got a call that the part was still "on order" and they'll be working on the car. I dont think they even know the car is not in their possession any longer?
I am an ex employee from the fresno, ca store... Pep boys is not as bad as a lot make it out to be. I admit some co workers I had were incredibly rude and obnoxious but the managers really kept them in line..... You should visit other stores before you start to rant about terrible service, not all the stores are the same.....if your ever in fresno california visit store0673....you will be treated great :)
Pep Boys store - Chandler Az. I was ripped off again. this is the last time!!!! I sent my wife in to have two new tires on the front of her CTS Cadillac and have the front end alignment performed. they told her to put the new tires on rear, place old and worn rear tires on front (one in bad shape) and then align them - imagine that !!!!. they told her that one tire on front was so worn she might get 3000 miles out of it. Since I am out of town I can not get to them (and probably for good reason) as I most likely would bring physical harm, but they told me over the phone that was the way they did things regardless of what we wanted. Cost over $350. I now must go to a good shop and have it done all over !!!!! What a bunch of goof balls.
I'm very disappointed with your company. My daughter went to one of your service center in pittsbrugh pa to have to head lights but in her car .when she came back to get it the told her the her tires was flat . I bought the tires in Mt cramel out side Cincinnati ohio . so when I bought the tires they had a warrenty on then I told my daughter that they should be ok they will fix it. she call me back and said that two of my tires where bad . and said one of the tires could not be fixed and was going to charger me 240 dollars but would not tell me what the tire depth and what the tires would cost each ! I know there is a pro rate cost . what makes me mad is how they was to my kid the fix her lights after and now the lights don't work right and when she got in her car the radio was turn up very loud and her speakers do not work right I have talk with Rick Smith and I not happy with him I would like to hear from someone from the Corp office I have called to line 2 times and never heard back from any one untill my wife posted on face book I hope it dose not take that long to get back to me thank you
i went to pepboys on 1/12/12 they told me my part was going to be in on the following monday. i called and they told me 3 to 5 days. which i waited. store #0181 i waited the 3 to 5 days. i called again on 1/20/12 and they said my part wasnt in. yea i got pissed off and swore a little bit. as i was leaving this weekend and needed the part. i figured i had plenty of time to have ordered it and time to put it on. Jose said he was the manager and said he didnt care if i got the part or not . that it doesnt affect him . i asked for the number for the corporate office and he gave me the wrong number. i see why so many people make complaints about pepboys. not profesional at all. i have no choice but to wait for the part. because i paid for it. and if i go some place else. i still have to wait. i wont recomond pepboys to anyone else. ever poor service and attitudes.
Pep Boys - What a NIGHTMARE! I used to enjoy the convenience and low prices at my neighborhood Pep Boys store, BUT after a recent visit for one single quart of oil to top-off the 5 quarts of oil, and oil filter, and an air filter (everything times 3 because I do oil changes for all three of my family's vehicles) I have decided to permanently avoid shopping with "the boys". Reason: False Advertising I walked into the store and was pleased to find a shelving unit with quarts of oil "on sale". The red tag on the bottom shelf attractively listed a price of $3.20. To avoid problems at the checkout counter, I inspected the fine print on the tag. The fine print indicated "Valvoline" Max Life oil. I compared this information to the product on the shelf directly above the label and found "Mobil" Oil. Since this was not a match, I searched the shelves directly above and to the sides of the red tag to locate the sale item. No luck. I took a quart of the Mobil to the counter, and it "rang-up" at $4.50. No deal! I asked the counter "boy" to help me, and he suggested that I walk from the front of the store to the back area where all the oil is displayed to find what I was looking for. Since this "boy" was not busy handling another customer, and I suffer from partial paralysis and impaired vision from a stroke, I started to get frustrated. At this point, I requested that the "boy" get the quart of oil for me since I was confused. He indicated that he was working on his computer, and implied that it should not be difficult for me to locate myself. I requested to speak to his manager, and the "boy" waived his arm pointing toward the counter at the entrance of the store. He slothfully said, "he's over there with the blue shirt on". I walked over to the area where the "boy" pointed, and found myself waiting in a line with four other "body-shop" customers. Now I understand why they call themselves "boys" (how immature)! I decided to leave the store, and visit AutoZone across the street. I was in and out within seconds, and I even saved money! AutoZone made me feel like a man!
Too bad there's nothing lower than "poor." I have never had a consumer experience such as this. Called and spoke with Ivan, service advisor, on 4/28. Took my car in at 3:30 to check out why the brake light was on. Was told I needed a new master brake cylinder. Pep Boys had "removed and replaced" this same part almost 2 years ago. Decided to trust PB again. Was told car would be ready by 5:00 today, Monday. I cancelled an appt. I had before work on Mon. and arranged another way to get to work. By 5:50, when no one had called, I called PB to confirm car was ready. Lie #1: Ivan said it would be ready in 20 more mins. My husband and I got there 30. mins. later. Big surprise and Lie #2: We were told the part had just arrived and more time was needed. Yet no one had had the courtesy to phone me. I was furious and said I wanted to take my car NOW. Lie #3: I can't take the car because the brakes have already been bled. Husband went to service bay to look for himself. Lie #4: NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE TO THE CAR YET! Found Ivan, who said he didn't remember speaking to me and then, probable Lie #5, suddenly recalled there had been another Honda that was in for tires, and that's whom he thought he was speaking with. Determined to get my car and leave ASAP, I asked the on-duty service advisor to get the store manager. That took another 15 mins. and at least 4 pages. He finally showed up and went out to the repair section to look into the matter. However, there was no way I would allow PB to touch the car at this point. One final bit of info: My Honda has only 28K miles, far below when the need for a new master brake cylinder might be reasonably expected--and for the second time. In addition to the master brake cylinder(s), my car has had oil changes, batteries, etc. at PB as has my husband's car. Obviously, we are NEVER coming back, and I plan to tell as many people as I can in as many ways as I can.
