I took my work van in for 2 new tires and front alignment they told me to leave it 11 am and they would have it done by 6 pm after my ride home arrives to take me home 1130 am they call me on cell and tell me there to busy can not get it in today take it some other place.the person that that took my order acted like he was medicated.

Wow! Took my car to Pep Boys in Orland Park for a $800+ brake, rotor and ball joint job. Driving on a expressway the other day, and begin to hear a scraping noise. Got off the expressway, pulled over, and saw that my wheel was about to fall off. Called a tow truck, towed it back to Pep Boys, and was told it was probably a defective part. Are you kidding me, a defective part? Adding salt to already open wound, no one seemed to think this was a big deal. A wheel coming loose on an expressway!! I was told the service manager would call me when he got back in and after waiting four hours with no call, I called him. Again I was told that they have over 300,000 parts in the store, and they have no way of knowing if a part is defective, and that I can take this up with the part manufacturer. Excuse me, I did business with Pep Boys, not a parts manufacturer. The entire "customer service" experience was absolutely horrible, and I will never take my car back to Pep Boys. Do not take something as serious as a wheel almost falling off on an expressway lightly, as this could have ended up in a very tragic way.

I have been working on cars myself for a while now and I am far for a mechanic, but the coolant leak in my truck was obviously from the water pump gasket. Took it into Pepboys in Startford, NJ on a Saturday because I wanted to have it ready for work on Monday. I would've done it myself but was willing to pa for the convenience of having it completed by Sunday. I was quoted $450 to replace pmp, gaskets, and a flush and fill. A bit steep, but I needed it completed. I received a call from them Sunday afternoon stating that the thermostat gasket was also leaking. I reasoned that it was possible that I over looked that leak and it was smarter to replace the thermostat and gasket while the radiator was drained to save money in the long run. I was quoted an additional $75 creating a total of $528. Again, I needed it completed so I reluctantly agreed to it. Not much longer afterwards I received another call staing that one of the bolts holding the thermostat housing to the block broke. I knew this was a common occurrence, but. Was shocked to hear that fixing this would raise the cost to almost $800 and that was after the gentleman I was speaking to took 10% off because "he was willing to work with me." I was appalled that the reduced price of working with me was double the original quoted price. I was very unhappy to find out that the truck would not be done in time for me to go to work on Monday morning. I ended up having to take the day off because I was promised that everything would be completed by Monday afternoon and that I would receive a call from the manager Monday morning by 9:30 am. Not only did I not receive this call, but when I called at 11:30, I was informed that 2 additional bolts broke during the removal of the lower intake. This would postpone all of the repairs further until possibly Monday night. It is currently Monday night at 7:18 pm and I have attempted to call the service center twice looking for a status update. I was placed on hold both times and was never helped. This is unacceptable and will never go to Pepboys again for service or parts. I pray that I get my truck back in running condition. I now have to make arrangements to borrow a car to get to work tomorrow. I am also looking forward to disputing the charges on my credit card after paying what I am expecting to be over $1000 for a $40 water pump and $5 gasket. This is extortion.

took van to Audubon NJ location and they came back with a quote well over $4000 for upper and lower ball joints, drums brakes etc. Thankfully we had a receipt for that same work that was done a couple months before at another place..when confronted, they said sorry it was a mistake..Not accepting this and wondering how many others its been done to, we made them call corporate and complained. Upon returning to get van, we noticed one hub cap missing. they said it was broken and did nothing and went in back and got it. As we were leaving we were followed by employee acting like they would take matters in their own hands toughly. we will be taking further action and filing complaints with BBB.

After taking my car to Pep boys for a oil chang I heard a ticking sound coming from under the hood I took my car back the then told me I needed a new motor I asked how is this possible I only let pep boys work on my car they gave me paper saying that the repairs will be $2700.00 so I deceided to go trade my car in. The machanic from the dealer ship I went to said this is a good car y are u getting rid of it isaid don't u hear that sound he said its only ticking not knocking u just need a new oil pump because who ever changed your oil didnt fill the oil pan with oil...so I brought me a new car and kept that car and pep boys should pay to get my car fixed because they broke it.

Shocked that this company is still in business. The free diagnostic test is a scam. After they hook up some flimsy tester they then tell you to "really" diagnose the issue you will have to pay 49.99 per half hour and it could take over an hour. The they install the part that will fix the problem only to have the check engine light come back on after only 40 miles and tell me I will have to pay another 49.99 dollars to re diagnose the problem - REALLY! diagnose a problem that you already diagnosed! Absolute rip off.

Went to Pep Boys in Bear Delaware purchases wipers and waited in line to get them installed. A female employee was having a hard time installing wipers on a truck that was in the bay. A second car infront of me was having wipers intalled by another Male employee who finished up before the female employee and walked off. I waited 10 mins for the female employee to finish the truck ...she then closed the garage door and yells to a coworker that she's going for a slice of Pizza. Really? Poor customer service

Boy, after reading the reviews describing the horrible experiences, I'm afraid to drive by the newly opened center around my home here in Houston, Texas. I'm thankful for the reviews which I'm sure have spared me some money and headaches from this company!! Is there one good review? any one?

On Feb. 25th I went to Pep Boys for noises my engine was making and was referred to a P&G auto by the manager at Pep Boys. I have had nothing but problems with this company who still has my car 16 days later. Pep Boys should not be referring outside sources that may not end up being legit!

I made an appointment to have my oil changed. I am a 58 yr old women who has changed her own oil in my cars for years but I am going thru chemotherapy right now and they were having a sale on oil changes. I go in and the sales guy tells me that my 1999 VW Bug needs a special oil becuase its a foreign car. The oil change will cost $70! I asked him if he was kidding and he said no. I walked out, I've never heard of anything so riduclous in my life. I will be contacting Consumer Affairs and the BBB

Went for a coolant flush and replace thermostat, went again for the same because the first wasn't done well enough, second time I went no thermostat was put back in and after trying to get someone to do something they made a racial slur and called me a liar. Never going back and telling all my friends and family the same.

Location : Covington Hwy Decatur, Ga 30034 I went in to have an oil change, during their "inspection" they found $3600 worth of work that needed emergency fixing. I asked to see it and agreed the tires had about a year left on them and the other matters were dull but decided to have preventative work done regardless. It took over a week, though they claimed 3 days. They had 3 different mechanics plus when I got my car back the brakes I had installed (platinum Package) had completely failed and I only came to a stop after losing momentum. When I took the car back they claimed I needed additional brake parts that should have come with the package. I'll be taking this past a bad review since my vehicle is useless due to their ignorance.

My 20 year old daughter went in for an oil change. I had made an appointment on line for her so it would be quick as she had a class to get to. She arrived on time and was told it would take an hour. In that hour they spent their time trying to bully her into anther $1000 worth of work. Her car is running fine and all she needed was an oil change. For them to bully her is unexceptable and horrific behavior.

Pepboys sells defective auto parts and has very bad customer service. Mechanics do not know what they are doing and most of there employees are rude. Purchased a starter for my car and Pepboys told me it was defective but will not make good on it. Beware do not buy Pep Boy parts or have any work done there.

Went to pepboys on mcdade blvd to get my car inspected go every year that place is a racist against females every time i take my car with my husband i have no problem my car passes with flying colors and everytime i go by myself something is always wrong can u believe that my car didnt pass state inspection for a lightbulb that cost 5 dollars and to top things off they charge me for not passing and never gave me a paper stating it fails the only thing i got was a paper that pass and a reciept and now i have to go pay another 25 dollars to get it inspected and have to make another apt they suck big time

Brought some Dean tires they lasted 10K miles before bad. PEP boys gave me an adjustment and ordered some new tires. The next day the store manager cancelled the order because he said he would lost money and I had to pay the full cost of the tires. He wanted to sell me some in-stock tires. I filed a small claims against them for not fulling the original written contract.

i took my truck in to get it fixed and was at the store for 3 days. they told me it was one thing and it was totally a different part that needed to be replaced. they said they dig, it , but it took 3 guys to look at it . none of them knew what they was doing. the store is on Dyer St & Diana in el paso texas. so much for ase certified mech.shop manager is a little shady so beware.

WENT TO PURCHASE TIRES AND RIMS AND RETURN A DEFECTIVE RADIO. GOT AS FAR AS EXCHANGING THE RADIO AND RECIEVED REALLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. DIDNT FEEL LIKE MOVING FOREWARD ON THE PURCHASE OF THE RIMS AND TIRES FOR THE DODGE CHARGER I PURCHASED TWO DAYS AGO. THE RADIO WAS PURCHASED ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO AND WENT BAD, AS WELL I HAD THE RECEPT. THE LOCATION WAS AT BEACH AND MCFADDEN. IM A 43 YEAR OLD VET AND IM AN ENGINEER FOR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. I DONT THINK IM A HARD INDIVIDUAL TO WORK WITH. I have gone 54 days without a car because the mechanics tried to fix my "check engine" lite which came on. Mind you this cost me $2100 and they STILL didn't get it right. Who comes up with that kind of money. You don't take payments, its either pay up or leave the car. They ended up taking it to the dealership and for $17 THEY fixed it. I have been put into debt that was uncalled for because of your mechanics NOT knowing how to do the job. You try going 54 days without transportation living 45 minutes from work!!! WOW...I will NEVER again even have my oil changed from these folks in Egg Harbor Twp. I tried to be calm, but each time you send me "coupons" for services, are you kidding me??? Save the cost of postage. I'm not interested, will NEVER be and will make sure I tell 5 who will tell 5, etc.

I HAD MY OIL CHANGED BY THE PEP BOYS IN THE BRONX BACK IN JUNE 2012. MIND YOU IT WAS A SIMPLE OIL CHANGE PROCEDURE. WELL I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS THEY STRIPPED MY OIL PAN AND THE SCREW AND NEVER ADVISED ME ABOUT IT. I HAVE BEEN LOSING OIL AND THE MONEY ITS COSTING ME NOT ONLY FOR THE OIL BUT I HAD TO BRING IT TO A MECHANIC TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. SO MY 19.99 OIL CHANGE HAS NOW COST ME 300.00. YOU ARE THE WORST AND HAVE THE WORST MECHANICS IN THE WORLD. IF THEY CAN'T EVEN DO AN OIL CHANGE IMAGINE WHAT DAMAGE THEY CAN DO ELSEWHERE. I ADVISE ANY ONE THINKING ABOUT GOING TO PEPE BOYS FOR ANY TYPE OF WORK THINK LONG AND HARD BECAUSE ITS GOING TO COST YOU TRIPLE.
