My name is Eric, I had purchased a couple of Halloween costumes, one of which was from Party City in the Upland, California. There were no signs about the return policy for seasonal items so as I completed my purchase I personally asked the clerk, "If I need to return these items is there a date in which I need to return it by?" The clerk replied, " You have 30 days from the day of purchase." In which I responded, "Even with the Halloween items?" She confirmed, "YES." The 30th day was yesterday, being a student with a full-time as well as a part time job I was unable to return the items until yesterday which would have been the last day to do so. I went to the same store that I made my purchase at. The clerk called the manager to front to help me with my return. After a few minutes of going back and forth with her over what happended she implied that it was my fault for not returning the items sooner and I should have known being a Halloween item that there was a certain policy for seasonal items. I told her that I even asked the clerk who completed my purchase of about $49 and told her what she had said. She still said it was my own fault and there was nothing she could do. I was in the Party City located at 6508 Baltimore National Pike, buying Halloween Decor my cashier Janay was very sweet she helped me to the best of her ability and was very reliable but on the other hand the store manager Roberta she's very rude and does not no how to treat her associates I was in the store enjoying the experience for at least an hour and witnesseed her talking down to her employess I don't know how people put up with her or her employees at least. I think she should be stepped down from her position then I even witnesed her taking one of her cashiers off the register only to tell her she was moving to slow. When in all reality she only made the line and situation worst by not moving faster then the first cashier. I did'nt like her at all I must stop this lady (ROBERTA WEBSTER) at the Catonsville store on Baltimore National Pike store number 122!
On October 30th, 2010, I purchased a wig for my son that decided not to wear it. I took it back a few hours later to get credit and the manager stated no he would not return my money. He said it states on the receipt that anything purchase after October 25th they will not except returns. It also states on the receipt 30 day money back guarantee. The manager would not listen to me and was quit rude. There was not a sign posted in the store as to their return policy. To obtain the policy you have to purchase something to read it and then you won't get a credit. They just lost a customer, and I hope everyone will read this and think twice before they buy something from a Party City Store.
I'm on same page with Melissa, although, if I could give a negative rating, it would be much worse than a -10. People should know not to order from your online site for any special delivery terms....I ordered Next Day Air for purpose of receiving a costume before Halloween..on Tuesday. Today is Friday and it hasn't been sent out. Called yesterday to inquire and they told me it would definitely be out today. Just called, nothing but insincere apologies. They sounded like they could care less. And after reading reviews about party city, it's apparent that they are used to letting people down. Only, they are letting kids down. Because now 2 days before Halloween, my daughter doesn't have a costume which I could have continued looking elsewhere 3 days ago if I hadn't trusted Party City. Now she gets to shop through the leftovers. THANKS A BUNCH PARTY CITY!
I only wish I had found this website before I placed my order. I placed an order on Oct. 22 and used the promotional free 2nd. day air shipping. My order should have shipped that following Monday and arrived Wednesday the 27th. Instead on Wednesday my shipping status was "warehouse" and when I called that same day I was told that it hadn't shipped. The rep said they couldn't say when it will ship and that I might get a call from the warehouse that day. I didn't get a call. It's now Thursday and the shipping status is the same. I have called today and am being told their system is down and they can't check the status. How convenient. I mean this is criminal, Halloween is Sunday! Never buy from this company! I wish I hadn't and they will never get my business again! I don't know, I suppose I will have to buy extra costumes to replace my Party City purchase. Absolutely horrendous!
I cannot believe that all the feedback and poor reviews coming from your business are actually true. I did not expect to see all the poor business judgment and unprofessional handling of the items brought by us the customers and the end result being that our money has been already taken out for the purchase and we have to get the run around in order to resolve the matter. On Oct.17,2010 I purchased the Uniqua Backyardigan costume and a plush Uniqua teddy bear for my Lil Princess who is 11 months for Holloween. When I checked out after my purchase I am positive that I double checked my order but any how I did receive a email acknowledging that my purchase was made and on Oct.18 another email stating that it was sent out.On Oct 20 I received the package and opened it and I just had a feeling that something was not right. There it was a PABLO COSTUME with the Uniqua teddy bear. I was disappointed because my daughter LOVES THE BACKYARDIGANS and I just knew that this was going to be a challenge because it was purchased online and all that I needed to do in order to get an exchange would probably be time consuming.I needed the RAN # in order to send it back and I have not received I single resaponse.I have tryed several times including that there system was not working on the 10/21 and 10/22 so I contacted the party city stores and I was encouraged to contact in@partycity but EVERYDAY since then I have been doing so but with no luck in getting my money back or even exchanging the costume in time to take my daughter out for Oct 31.
My rating for this Party city is not poor it is beyond poor. On Oct. 20th I ordered mine and my daughters costume. I use the coupon for free shipping. The one thing they did right was got me the costumes when they claimed they would the first time. However, my costume was damaged. I called that night on the 25th and they said sorry and they would ship out a new costume. I explained that the skirt was a little short so they said no problem we will get you a bigger size and that it would be there on wed or thursday. Well wed night, i checked the order and it said at warehouse. I called first thing this morning (which is thursday) and they said that they were out of stock of the medium, (which they never informed me of)and said the had the small and could have the shipped out for nexy day so I would get it Friday. Well when I checked the status tonight, it said still at ware house. When they called they said they do not know why it didnt ship and asked if i wanted to place another order. Are you serious? They claim that they are going to refund me but we will have to see. I also did try to contact the corporate office and spoke with a very nice person who told me politely that all the personell that handle these issues are in california and are busy or not in there office yet but someone would call me today. It is now 9 pm and no phone call. But i can promise that I will get a solution.
I would rate Party City -5 for false advertising and poor customer service. My children do not have costumes because their second day air is just that HOT AIR. We ordered and never received the costumes and the had they had the nerve to blame me-that I gave them the wrong address.
If there were a negative sign for the lack of stars I could give this company they would be rated -10. We ordered costumes for Halloween on 10-22-10 & were promised to have them NO LATER than the Friday prior. Despite following through & calling several times to see when they would ship, today I was told they would not ship until after the weekend. We were lied to at least 5 times, never had our calls returned and nobody even seemed to care. I believe this may be the norm for this company & I would never ever recomend them. Management in particular was the worst & least sympathetic, they truly don't care. I suggest they spend less on their commercials & promises on their website & more on their customer service & way of business. We are disgusted. When asked for a refund we were told it would take up to 7 days & we should go to a local Party City and choose alternitive costumes. What a scam- do not trust these people. Also, when asked if they would ship Saturday delivery to satisfy our needs, they said their company does not have the ability to ship on Saturday, like this a new delivery feature with UPS. Ridiculous.
I cannot help but notice all of the negative feedback and poor reviews of customer service. I can personally say I could not agree more! I do not know what kind of business you think you are running, I consider it nothing more than a scam! Partycity.com has been offering expedited shipping with a minimum purchase on Halloween costumes. LAST WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20TH! I purchased costumes for my children. I met the minimum purchase of $60 to qualify for 2nd day air shipping through UPS. On SATURDAY, OCTROBER 23RD, no costumes were here. My children threw a fit because they needed them for a Church function that night, so I had to throw together last minute costumes. I called customer service to see what the deal was, the rep told me that since I ordered after 1pm on wed, that the order would not have processed until Thursday. Then she said the order would not ship until Monday, OCT.25th! Even she agreed that the costumes should have been here Sat 23rd. NOW HERE IS MY BIG PROBLEM. IT IS WEDNESDAY, OCT 27TH, NO COSTUMES AND THE ORDER STATUS STATES THEY ARE STILL IN THE WAREHOUSE! CAN YOU SAY "FALSE ADVERTISEMENT"? 2ND DAY AIR? I ORDERED A WEEK AGO!! IN MY LINE OF BUSINESS(HEALTHCARE), IF WE USED YOUR BUSINESS APPROACH, LIVES WOULD BE LOST! THINK ABOUT THAT, WHILE YOU ARE SCAMMING EVERYONE AND DISAPPOINTING CHILDREN EVERYWHERE! I have been working at Party city for three weeks now. I was supposed to get paid 5 days ago and they still havent paid me..They keep saying I will call you back or I sent the paperwork. No one calls me back.
Sorry for the 1 star but it is due to Certegy company that you use. I have NO bounced checks anywhere and to be in line making a purchase I went to write a check as I didn't have debit card on me and was declined. Your clerk could give me no reason why and neither could Certegy. However after seeing the complaint board against Certegy for this happenning to so many people and different stores this is ridiculous! They are determining my ability to write a check solely ion the fact that I don't write them often? As much as I have gathered in a fdew minutes on line with other upset customers of you and other retails who use Certegy the answer is simple. Stop shopping your stores. Look at the Certegy site and see the complaints for your self. Use tele Check or a company who bases my worthiness on bounced or bad checks not just becasue they want to. Us consumer can do enough damage if we start banding together and stop shopping your stores. There are plenty of mom and pop places we can shop and the extra cost if any would be worth making our point.
On Saturday September 25th of 2010 I went to the Party City Store in Tukwila, WA (Southcenter)to shop for party supplies. While shopping I was approached by the so called "manager" Jacob asking me what was the package of forks sticking out of my bag? they were pink forks I had purchased at a party discout store bundled in .99 cent packets which they carry nothing of the sort at party city. I told him I was there to try to match the pink color because they did not have the matching napkins and plates. I asked him was he accusing me of stealing? He said he had encounterd a lot of "stealings" that day. First of all why would I have 1 bag of forks sticking out of my bag if I was stealing and 2nd I had a 120.00 worth purchases in my basket with other pink plates and napkins. I believe he harassed me and I was embarrassed people began to look when he approached me and I am a women of a certain age not a teenager. He never game me the name of the Main Store Manager.

I have a balloon and party decorating business and have shopped for additional items at your store in Huntington Beach for over 18 years. My main concern is the quality of your colored rectangular plastic table covers. The quality has much to be desired. They are now half the thickness, shorter in length, and the sheen is only on one side now. To top things off, the price has doubled, from $.99 to $1.99, what's with that?
i worked at party city for almost a year until i got pregnant. i went on maternity leave and was suppose to come back. they just kept telling that we would have to the process over again i put new applications in almost every 2 weeks..After i had the baby i no longer had a job any more to fully support my child and due to the economy i have yet found a new one. Went to the party city located at 1500 Rockville Pike Rockville, MD 20853 to purchase items for my baby shower. They had a clearance section located on the back wall. These items were suppose to be .33cents. I picked up some napkins and cups and took them to the cashier for checkout. The cashier rang my items and swiped my credit card. I asked her if all my items were .33cents and she said yes. I signed the sales slip and left the store. Got into my car and proceeded to go to the party city in Gaithersburg MD to see if they had more clearance items. I looked over my reciept while driving and noticed I was charged $1.87 for a pack of cups when they were suppose to be .33cents. I called the store and asked for the manager, I was placed on hold for about 10 minutes. Someone picked up the phone and said hello, I asked if they were the store manager and the person said hello. Again I repeated myself and they how can I help you. I told the person it would be nice if they could identify themselves. He aside his name was Will, I explained the situation to him and he said just do the exchange at the party city you are going to now. He didn't care that I was rang up wrong, he wanted to rush me off the phone. That was not very good customer service!!!
I was in the Victorville store and was enjoying my visit. Such a sweet personality, and obviosly she is extremely knowledgeable about Part City (DEBBIE). But my whole experience cahnged after the manager entered the conversation. I could feel the tension from the managers attitude with the employee. It was very discoforting and made me feel sorry for the arrogance that the employees there deal with. It's supposed to be a party store.
I hope somebody gets this message soon. I have been an emloyee for Party City Lakewood store for a little over a month and they still have not paid me once. I am a rehire so they said they had to do different paperwork, I filled out the paperwork and they told me they faxed it but somehow one of the corporate offices did not receive it. I ask them over and over if they have all of my information or a check for me and they told me they mailed it but that was over a week ago and I would have gotten a check by now. I am concerned that this company is not going to pay me for the many hours I have put into working there. I have no way of knowing where my paperwork is, who has received it or if they even sent it through. I need to get paid really soon for bills and such and they are not helping me, so hopefully someone at corporate can. Thank you, Sarah Fox
I had a problem with the Porter Ranch/Northrige, CA Party City...they were totally out of line from the dis-respect of haning up on all incoming calls, to just putting the customers on hold with no intention of picking up the phone. I drove to the store while on hold and that is what I was told. I tried returning a defective inflatable costume, bought just two days prior, had my receipt, still 4 days before Halloween and the Store Manager would not give me a store credit or refund. He was rude, and had a power trip, told me to find a costume and he would exchange it, this was for a Size 12-14 Boy, I asked for 12 different costumes and they didn't have any of them in stock. I begged for a refund and the manager said No sorry, he also told me I couldn't even spend the credit on party supplies it had to be Halloween costumes only. THEIR COSTUME WAS DEFECTIVE -H E L L O....So it is very clear to me that Party city hires Morans...also I have been trying to get ahold of the Corporate Office for a week now and no one has called me back and it is near impossible to get a actual person on the line, and when you do they apologize and promise someone will call you back...So far no word from the it is now November 4th...GOOD LUCK EVERYONE THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE!!!
