My neighbor is 84 years old and went to the Mishawaka store to order landscaping blocks for his yard. I gave him a note saying we needed 250 ft worth of bricks which should have been 250 bricks. Sam the employee ordered 500 and charged for delivery also. The problem I have is the note stated 250 ft. and the order was not correct. My neighbor paid for the bill. (remember the man is 84 yrs old and confusses easily) Thats why we sent him with the note. I spoke to a Ken McBrier the assistant General Manager and explained that my neighbor handed a note to Sam and he ordered the wrong amt. He said we could be created for the bricks but they would have to charge for the pickup cost. This isn't serving your customers fairly. I have spent lots of money in your store and because they will not take the responsibility for the error I will never shop at your store again.I work retail and I can't believe that Sam doen't remember the situation after only six days. Believe me you lost a good customer over this 54.95 cost which could of and should of been taken care of. I will tell my friends and neighbors about the lack of service at this location. When I also asked for the corp. phone number Mr. McBrier told me there wasn't one. Not true. I found it on the computer after I got home.

This is not a complaint, but the opposite. Went to Menards in Marion, ILL last week and was very happy with the service. The carry out boys were very nice and helpful.The boy that helped me , his name is Derek Holland. I wanted to tip him but he would not take the tip, told me it was his job. The only compliant that I would have is that I wish he would have excepted my tip. It wasnt much, only $5

I would not even give Menards 1 star after the cowardly move they made today. For 14 years my husband eat, slept, and would bleed MENARDS. Never a poor pay review, not one time had he called in in 10yrs. and because some big wig gets a little too much power and it goes to his head my husband is told to go home. The punch line is he has NEVER been in trouble with his job, always did what ever was asked of him. Now after 14 years of exceptional work history and no bad performance reviews he was told 4 days after being told to go home for the day, that they wished him the best but he was fired. When he asked for what reason they didn't have one to give him. I quote what he was told "I have to stand behind his decession", are you kidding me? You don't fire a employee who has a clean record and no history of problems, so who helps the good guys? So for all the stores you have complaints at because your employees are lazy or rude, this is why you let the good guys go and keep the ones who should have been gone years ago. I use to tell people that Home Depot and Lowes was a bad word in my home well this is for you Corporate Menards BIG WIGS...."MENARDS IS A VERY VERY BAD WORD, YOU LOSE BIG MONEY AT MENARDS"

I purchased a portable generator from Menards Matteson, IL store on 6-19-10. When I started the generator the same day, it ran very roughly for about 5 minutes then stopped and would not restart. I returned the generator the next day and was told they could not exchange it or refund my money. Instead I would have to take it to a service center to be repaired. This was because I had put gasoline in it. How would I know it wouldn't run without putting gas in it. This policy does not make sense. When I took the generator to the service center I was told by the owner that they did not work on this machine. I was also given the wrong name of the service center by Virginia, The returns manager. When I returned to the store again I spoke to Dan, one of the store managers. He refused to give me any consideration other than to "compensate me for my wasted trip". I then took the generator to a second service center on the list and was also told they don't work on this machine because it is made in China and they can't get parts or specs for it. I then emailed my complaint to your store and received a response from Jason Larson Hardware Buyer. He offered nothing other than to take it to another service center. He did not offer a name or address of a service center. At this point, I am stuck with a generator that doesn't work and apparently can't be repaired. This is a very bad policy. As you can guess, I will never purchase anything from Menards again. I will also advise everyone I know not to shop at Menards.

Menard"s should be ashamed of themselves. No wonder everyone wants to shop a Home Depot and Lowes. Your customer service is unbelievably poor. Who runs this company? Don't you have meetings with your employees to teach them customer service skills. Gee whitakers, Menards. You are a disgrace to the retail world.

I returned a power washer last year that I purchased for my painting business that leaked thru the handle. No pressure. Manager gave me another. He was convinced that one had a defect. The next one worked. Only used it once and stored it. Pulled it out this year and it did the same thing. Leaked thru the handle. Just returned it today. Can not continue to disappoint my customers. I am out $130 because of a policy change? The first gentleman said the change was for gas powered products. This is an electric (1850 model). The manager still referred me to a service center so I can spend my time and money on a 2nd defective product! Somethings not right. Why is the consumer getting the shaft for a defective product? Menards used to be my 1st choice. What can be done Here?

Our shopping experience while shopping at the Angola Menards store has been awesome. Brice the young man that works in plumming is a joy, he really helps my wife and is knowedgeable about the entire store .You are most lucky to have him.

Very Dissatisfied how do you talk to someone in custermer relations Scottsbluff Nebraska store is where I purcased the item. I also shoped Twin cities of Mn. for several years,also Casper WY. with no problems. I was told by an employee the patio set I purchased had a one year in store warranty return on defects. Upon returning the table the Mgr. must have heard on the two way radios on the return and said it could not be returned due to breakage. My belief was the glass could have had a defect the umbrella that was inserted in the center hole had not all that much pressure on the top. It was just a slight breeze.The gentleman who was a sales associate had to do what I would of expected the manager to do. Did not think it to be good public relations for the money I spend there. I rebuilt two complete houses and garages thru Menards.Since they did not exchange the table,I will not buy another one there

They definitely don't know how to enter measurements correctly into their system. I was given 4 windows that didn't fit my opening because of their associate. I brought in the correct measurements!! This is my fault??? The genereal manager, Chad, from this store didn't even give me a chance. He is arrogant as well! He immediately took his Asst. Manager's side. I am not happy! Why should I pay a restocking fee when the problem was created by him? I told him specifically that they couldn't come any bigger than this measurement or THEY WOULD NOT FIT! They are coming bigger!!! Why??? In fault of the Asst. Manager. Ridiculous! Problem 2: (5 days later): I went to order siding, and told the assoc. we needed delivery. He looked up the price and didn't place it on receipt! Why???? I told him that we had to have it! I had to drive back 50 minutes to get that placed on there. Again, more money coming out of my pocket! They should have given me free delivery!! Problem 3: You can not even reach the corporate office to complain! I want to speak to someone!!!!! I was in your store and talk to young man at your store at 10555 E US HWY 36 In Avon In 46233. I wanted a 4' X 8' lattes sheet he show me the product and I could not get in my car. So I called back and talked to one of your people in building materials I ask him if they have 2' x 8' sheets so I could get them in my car. He said he would not look it was not big enought order and ask me what I was talking about I got mad and went to store and talk to the Asst; General manger he was not worried about the probelm what happen if that was a builder that you deal with. I Have bought many thing at that store ceil fans and Lighting and many other things if your employee treat customers like that in all you stores you are going to lose a lot of bussiness they will get someone that buys housing wood and for the whole home. To lose my bussiness is only about $500.00 per year but a contractor it will be thousands you General Mgr. I wish I would have read these comments on this website before I shopped Menards. I probably would have decided to buy some where else but instead I learned the hard way. There is a sign on the front of the Menards store in Quincy IL which states Dedicated to Quality Customer Service.......unfortunately we have found that is not the case with the Quincy store. My husband and I purchased a new frig, a new stove, a new patio grill and a new range hood on Memorial day to the tune of over $1700.00. When we got the new frig home and removed the plastic......the frig was damaged....a huge dent in the back and scratches on the front on both doors. We called Menards and told them the issue.....all we asked them to do was order a new frig for us, deliver it and take the damaged one back. The General Manager, Jerry Richards, was so incredibly rude that he had me in tears at the end of our phone conversation. He would not do ANYTHING for us. He said we had to bring the damaged frig back and he would deliver the new frig for an additional $65. He was the most arrogant person I have ever spoken with on the phone and I can't believe that Menards would want someone like this to manage their store. We told him we were going to bring everything back that we bought on Memorial day and he said we could but that he was going to charge us a 25% restocking fee if we did!!!! We ended up taking the damaged frig back and asked for our money back. They gave us our money back minus the $100 rebate which I may not even get back according to some of the other posts listed here on the website!!!!! We went across the street to the Lowe's store.....ordered a refrigerator and guess what....they delivered it to us for FREE!!!! In this economy, people are very careful about what they spend and where they spend it. Don't you think it would be good for business if Menards showed a little more quality and concern for their customers. We have other options as to where we buy and believe me...I will NEVER shop at Menards again. And in this small community, people talk.

your online ad price on duration shingles to low to advertise.This is at best misleading but actually more like retail fraud.When I checked price at Big Rapids Michigan the price was HIGHER than the advertised price a week previous.

I'm e-mailing to let you know i have e-mail the attorney general of Iowa. Your practice of sales with rebates is flat wrong! Other states have stopped this and I feel Iowa should also! Your betting on folks needed this item and never bothering with sending in a re-bate. That's just wrong in theis economy and people struggling ,shame on you! I know you say well go some where else that's a done deal! Your people are rude, they evade you if you head there way and they play phone tag and pass the buck.Course I'm sure you could care less it's always been that way. But there is a Lowe's that isn't that far and hopefully moving closer I hear. I've had alot of dealings with them and there smart enough to know the customer doesn't have to spend there money with them but they want them to be satissfied and want to spend there hard earned money there!

I am very unhappy with your policy for getting products that work. We purchased a Sanborn trimer/mower a few days ago,today we put oil and gas in it so we could trim our lawn. Low and behold the trimer did not start. We took it back to the store#3178 bayc and they tried to get it started,it just would not start. We asked to get a new trimer or our money back so we could go elsewhere and get a product that works. We were told they would not do either,we would have to take it to a service center so they could fix it. I understand that Menards can not take products back that have gas in the machine,but this trimer has not been used!!!! You have to put oil and gas in it inorder for it to start!!! We could take the gas out if needed!!! This product was junk!!! Why should we be responsible for having the trimmer fixed if we did not even get to use it!!!. I am so frustrated with this policy that I hope I'm getting this message to you clearly!! When we ordered this trimer we got it in a box that was filthy with dust. How long was this on your shelf. As of this date we will not do business with a Menards store or will we tell any one to use your store!!! What kind of products do you sell that even an unused new product does not work!!!!!!! I FREQUENT YOUR HODGKINS ILL STORE. ON THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND I WAS IN THERE AND NOTICED THAT MENARDS DOES NOT FLY THE AMERICAN FLAG FROM THEIR BUILDING OR FLAG POLE. I ASKED A STORE MANAGER NAMED SCOTT, WHY NOT, AND HE DID NOT KNOW. I ALSO ASKED HIM WHY WITH THIS BEING MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND DID THEY PUT THE FLAGS AND OTHER PATRIOTIC ITEMS FOR SALE ALL THE WAY BACK IN THE REAR OF THE STORE. I AM A PROUD VIETNAM VETERAN AND VERY ACTIVE MEMBER IN THREE VETERAN ORGANIZATIONS. I KNOW MANY OF MY VETERAN FRIENDS SHOP THERE AND ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS YET. Incompetence and apathy! I don't know why Menards employs so many rude and lazy people. I guess they are required to ask you if you need help, but they sure don't want to help you, or usually don't know what the hell they are doing! Was assured by "Levi" that the gate I ordered with a $1000 fence package was 39 inches wide, NOT THE OPENING! Of course the gate showed up from another store and, yep! 35 INCHES WIDE. Posts are sunk in concrete so I'll neeed to adapt. Levi also was the smartass, that over the phone, told me everything was in stock, "unless you're building a 1000 ft. fence." SMARTASS/DUMBASS. 5 won't have the toprails for 3 more weeks! I will NEVER SHOP AT THE SUPERIOR MENARDS AGAIN! Idiots! Rude! LAZY!

I went to Menards.com looking for a search tab. I was looking to see what size tarps you carry. Your website is missing a way for customers to be able to search and shop online. If you implement this feature your sales will sky-rocket !!

My friend (she is also writing to you) purchased 15 10' deck board whilethey were on sale. When she found that they would work, she went back to purchase 25 more and, when she realizes she needed more, bought 10 more. When we went to use them, I noticed they weren't long enough. She got the three sheets for the wood and I saw that the first ones were 10' and the other two were 8'. (This Menards is in Muskegon, Michigan, on Harvey Street off Sternberg Road.) She returned the 25 to get the correct ones. They wouldn't let her get them at the sale price as the sale was off, even though she originally got them when they were on sale and it was an employee's fault both time. She was told to take the 25 home and return the 20 for the 10' ones. The guard at the shack let her through but when she came out, she couldn't leave as they 'weren't paid for.' How could they let her in to get the wood then? She parked in the wood area and went back in and got another run-around about how she had to return the other 10 first (which is different than when she first went in). She was so mad she dumped the wood by the guard shack, went home and brought back the last 10 pieces. A round trip to Menards and home is 20 miles so she made 3 (THREE) round trips to exchange the wood which should not have had to be made if the employee in the first place had listed 10' instead of 8' as she had ordered. Do you hire IDIOTS for your stores? I'll bet she'll go to Lowes or Home Depot from now on as well as anyone she tells about her problems.

Hello, I WAS IN YOUR MENARDS STORE HERE IN SCOTTSBLUFF, NEBRASKA YESTERDAY (4-22-10) @ 10:30 AM TO BUY DECK STAIN. THERE WAS NOT VERY MANY CUSTOMERS IN THE STORE AS A WEEKDAY. I STOOD AND WAITED BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK TRYING TO GET HELP FROM ONE OF THE THREE MENARDS EMPLOYEES AT THIS DESK. ALL 3 DID TURN AND LOOK AT ME WHEN I SAID "EXCUSE ME" AFTER WAITING THREE MINUTES BUT THAT WAS ALL. ANOTHER MINUTE WENT BY AND THEY TURNED TO SEE IF I WAS STILL THERE - ONE ACTED PUT OUT AND TURNED AND TOOK A STEP TOWARDS ME AND STOPPED AND LOOKED AT ME AND WAITED. I REALLY THOUGHT SHE WOULD DECIDE TO HELP ME AT THIS POINT, BUT NOT YET. SHE FINALLY ASKED IN A BOTHERED TONE "CAN I HELP YOU?" I WAS SHOCKED AT HER RUDENESS AND THAT OF HER FELLOW CO-WORKERS. REALIZING QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH ANY OF THESE EMPLOYEES - I WALKED AWAY. I DID PICK UP OTHER ITEMS IN THE STORE. I WAS THERE ABOUT AN HOUR. THE ONLY EMPLOYEE THAT ASKED IF IN NEEDED HELP WAS THE ONE MENTIONS ABOVE. ALL CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK HAD NO LESS THAN 3 EMPLOYEES AROUND IT - NONE HELPING CUSTOMERS. AT THE CHECK OUT I WAS ASKED IF I FOUND EVERYTHING ALL RIGHT. I STATED NO AND TOLD HER WHY. SHE INFORMED ME THAT WAS THEIR JOBS!!! THIS IS THE SAME STORE A YOUNG MAN WAS KILLED A YEAR OF SO AGO WHEN BANDS ON A PALLET STACKED TOO HIGH BROKE AND FELL ON HIM - KILLING HIM. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED AS MANAGERS WHERE TOLD BY EMPLOYEES/CUSTOMERS THAT THIS WAS A HAZARD A FEW WEEK TO A MONTH BEFORE IT HAPPENED ... THE CUSTOMERS WHERE IGNORED AND ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES WAS REPRIMANDED AS BEING "DIFFICULT TO WORK WITH" BECAUSE HE WANTED CREATE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR YOUR EMPLOYEES AND YOUR CUSTOMER! ALSO IN REGUARDS TO YOUR REBATES - DO NOT OFFER THEM IF YOU HAVE NO INTENTION ON GIVING THEM! MY POINT IS . . . YOU REALLY KNOW HOW TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION IN THIS SMALL FARM/RANCH COMMUNITY.
