I recently purchased a new granite vanity from the Blaine store. I was told by the associate that this was a new ventor for them and that they would have the side spash available within a couple of weeks. I installed the vanity and called the store two weeks later to inquire about the side splash I needed to complete the install. I was told that Menards was not going to be carrying the side splash and that they also are not available to special order it! Their answer to my problem was to either tile around the one side side (how attractive would that be!) or rip out the new vanity and return it. I suggested it would be far more customer friendly if they were to just open another set and let me buy the backsplash so I could have it cut down and use it for the side splash rather than to have to remove the already installed vanity. Absolutley not possible! What difference does it make if they send my out of box, unusable vanity back to the manufacturer or the one in the store that was opened to satisfy a customer problem that was the result of their employees misinformation? I have worked retail for 37 years and I know that what I am asking for is not out of line. It is evident from the number of poor ratings here that Menards has a problem with service! I won't be back.

Menards stopped giving the mulitary discount a month or so ago. The idea is that they beat the competitors prices, even when the competitors do give the discount, and I have to agree. People were abusing this by paying for their relatives order who was in line behind them, picking up stuff for their buddies, etc...bottom line..it was abused. The bad thing is that they started giving this discount on a daily basis, then suddenly cancelled it. I honor and respect our military as much as anybody, but cmon!! They signed up for the job to fight for their country, NOT to receive a lifetime discount to everywhere they go to eat/shop! Where does it end?? Offer the discount to the elderly, the handicapped, all "A" students, American Indians....the list can go on and on. They beat the crap on prices compared to the other "Big box" stores............

Yes i bought a steel front door from your Homer Glen store IL. I installed it and when i went to istall the door handle and lock i noticed the top sides and bottom werewood not steel. i called and the store manager told me i coule bring the door back and he would give me 80 dollars back when i told him the was allmost 290 dollars he told me sorry it was a special order and could only give me 80 bucks.nothing on my papper work said wood sides and top and bottom .but on the door ther is a sticker that said wood edges on door.well if i dont hear from some one from the store or Corporate or i will do my spending else were you can check and see i spent at least 18 to 20 thousand dollars in your store in the last yr and a half. SO THE BALL IS IN YOUR COURT NOW . My email address is bumclaughlin@comcast.net THANK YOU /// Edward Mclaughlin

So. . . .I'm attempting to call Corporate since it seems no one is reading the above. . . .and I just got hung up on -- no different than my local store (Richmond, IN). How am I suppose to get money back for merchandise I never received?? We placed the order in May -- this has gone on long enough. Perhaps a lawyer can help.

I have been a customer of your stores all my life, it is by far my favorite store. I KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO KEEP CUSTOMERS HAPPPY, SOMETIMES YOU JUST CAN'T. I HAVE CONTACTED YOU THREE TIMES BY PHONE WITH NO RESPONDS, YOUR PHONE MACHINE TELLS ME THAT YOU CAN NOT CALL CUSTOMERS BACK BUT WILL WRITE WITH IN A WEEK I HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM YOU AND NEED TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO RECOMMEND THAT YOU MAKE A NEW DEPT. LETS CALL IT GUEST SERVICES THERE JOB SHOULD BE TO CALL CUSTOMERS BACK AND HELP SOVLE PROBLEMS. I will keep shopping at menards till im old and grey but for big ticket items i would think twice. I think you should know your service has gone down hill and some of your prices thru the roof.

When visiting a Menard's in Coon Rapids, MN they refused to give us a Military discount. The cashier said that it was not their policy. The Menard's in Forest Lake and Blaine MN always gives us the Military discount. I went to the Menard's web site and asked what the corporate policy is. The response did not answer the question at all. The answer we got from someone who called himself "Ray" made no sense at all. I am still waiting to hear an answer to this question. The question should be a simple one to answer. What is the corporate policy on giving Military discounts? We know the answer from Home Depot and Lowes.

Was in Menards store in Marion, Illinois the other night and witnessed something I didnt think was very right. I saw a Manager threatening to fire one of his courtesy patrol employees because his shirt had come untucked. The employee was trying to explain that it came untucked because he had been working so hard helping to load up somethings for people outside but the manager didnt seem to care. I have seen this same manager being very mean and threatening to other employees on several occasions as I am in that store all the time. Seems to me the employees are doing a good job but are walking on pins and needles. This same manager I noticed also the other night was babysitting his baby at the counter while his wife was shopping in the store. This doesnt seem right to me. Shouldnt the manager be setting the example for the employees by following the same rules that he is chewing out his employees about.By the way him playing with his baby and not helping the customers seemed to be to look very very bad. I did get his name from one of the employees so I would have it to give to you and his name is Justin. I dont know how high his athority is in that store but he definately walks around like he is GOD and seems to enjoy giving his employees a very hard time all the time. When I was asking the employee for Justins name I told them why I wanted it and told them I was going to complain and they made the comment that yeah, they are not even aloud to talk to each other or Justin will chew them out . You would think Menards would want that kind of atmosphere for their employees, or maybe Menards does but doesnt know what this Justin guy is doing in their store.

I have a relative working for Menards and doesn't get treated very nice from the other employee's and EVEN THE MANAGER'S. I have been to the store several times and will not go back for ANYTHING!!!! If Menards is the only one that carries the item I need I will do without. The Employee's are very RUDE,not willing to help and don't care what they say to you. I went we my parents to the Bellevue,Ne Menards and asked for the Militarty Discount since my dad is retired Military. They said they will not offer since he is not active. The Cashier argured with me about it and I then spoke with one of the Manager's on Duty , when I told the Manager that they have lost a Customer for good it he didn't seem to care. I do my all my Shopping at The Home Depot People there are friendly, helpful, and Care about there Customers. nothing like Menard Employee!!!! Menards will go out of Business soon if they keep up the good customer service.!!!!!

There is no Ranking for Menards. Until they send their Manager's to a Customer Service Class and teach them what Customer Service is all about Menards will be nobody!!!!!!!!! I don't know why some people still shop there I guess they haven't got the rude treatment or if they have they are just as stupid as the Employees and Manager's that work there. Try Shopping at Home Depot You'll Love the Customer Service and Friendlyness. They treat you like Family. Everyone is awesome..... You'll NEVER Go BCAK TO MENARDS.

I have been a loyal customer for 8 years, since moving to Capron, Illinois. I generally shop at the Machesney Park store. I have spent thousands of dollars there, decking wood, wood flooring, paint, sink, faucet and many other things to set my house up. This year I bought 5 gallons of Thompson stain, Sienna Brown, for my deck. They were outside as that was where I was going to use it. The lids rusted. After using 3 gallons I opened the fourth gallon to find there was no tint in it. On Thursday October 14th approximetally 10:30 a.m. I brought the stain without tint in it back to the above location. First the girl behind the return counter was throwing things around and cursing, presumably she had a problem with the customer in front of me. She then called someone from the paint department to deal with me. I am a senior citizen with a heart problem. This man was verbily abusive and would not even open the can to see the problem because the lid was rusted and he couldn't resell it. If I were a little younger without health problems I think I would have punched him in the mouth. I have always had great customer service with the people on the floor at Menards. This is why I shop here rather than Lowe's or Home Depot. I may have to rethink this. It took me two days to calm down after this altercation. If you need the names of these employees I will go back just to get them. I am very unhappy with your customer service. If you would care to contact me my email is joann713@frontier.com. or my phone number is 815-218-01640. Richard Cavaliere

I ordered some very expensive window shades from the store in Beloit, WI. The sales associate that was helping us told me they where coming from and made in wisconsin. These were Bali shades. When they finally arrived and I opened them I was horrified. They were Roman shades. They looked like they were used and the stiching was everything but straight. The sticker on the shade said made in china. It was easy to see by the quality where they came from. I returned them immediately and had to pay a 25% restocking fee. I'm a contractor that buys a lot of stuff from Menards. In one instant they have changed my mind on purchasing from them. So do not order expensive shades from Menards!

I hate it that Menards does not value military people anymore. Menards has made the decision to discontinue their 10% off for military, and retired military. Such a shame, but good for Lowe's and others. Hopefully they will reconsider. My business goes elsewhere.

I bought a Blue Max Chainsaw at Menards in Clio, Michigan. Im 67 years old an in good shape. I heat my home with wood. Was told by store employee that this was a good saw but found out that this is a non--starting piece of junk. Have only had this saw a few months. It has only cut 2 face cords of wood when i could get it started.I am smart enough to know if you have spark and fuel it should run but this is not the case with this saw. Menards says i need to send it to the manufacturer. Why should i have to do this and pay for it when the saw is new an the store is real close.I need a saw NOW,not in 6 weeks. I am on social security trying to get by an cant afford another saw or to wait. May never shop Menards Again! Dont Know how i will heat my house this winter. Thanks John!!!

The Menard's in Naperville is by far the WORST PLACE to shop. They hire only the most dim-witted, unmotivated people they can scrape off the street, and these are white people I am talking about...you know....the the managers and assistant managers. As far as the dolts on the floor, if you ever do catch one you have to stand in front of them to get there attention. once yo do then always need to ask someone else for the answer to your question. Also the the extremely loud Menards commercials that they play when you are already in the store is not necesary.

Menards Low price guarantee?? To be or not to be!!! The Bay City Menards store advised me that they would match Home depots prices but not give an additional 11% off? Because that policy only covers all other stores except for Home Depot, Lowes, and probably whatever place you want tohem to match. I called today and had to read Menards own policy to a manager adn then he said he did not have a problem refunding me the 11% ARHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH There own policy stated ANY local retail competitor!!! Key word ANY!! The person I spoke with advised that there's is different?

I give Menards a zero star. It is the last place I will ever shop. Management is rude and employees could care less about being helpfull. The only place to shop is Home Depot. Everyone needs to compare and then you'll know what I'm talking about. Menards you suck!!!!!

SIOUX CITY, IOWA. My experience with Menards comes from a consumer, business, and parental view. First of all, I have an 18 year old son that was formerly employed with Menards, therefore, I would hear input from many different people regarding the store itself. Their complaint, as well as mine from a consumer standpoint, is this store is terrible at customer service. You are lucky to be helped or find anyone to help you. Their prices may be some of the better in town, but I will take a Lowe's or Home Depot any day and pay the extra for the outstanding customer service. Menard's employees are not friendly or knowledgable but I believe it to come from the management standpoint which leads me to my next area of complaint - business. The business I work for does business with Menards. I needed to be added to the charge account as I was redoing our offices and needed to be able to purchase materials and supplies. TWICE we faxed information to have me added to the account and TWICE they claimed to have lost it creating a long wait and many phone calls for verification. Time is money. Third, as a parent with a child formerly employed there. I would NEVER direct or recommend any parent send their child to apply there. They have managers with management skills. My son is a good student as well as an athlete and participates in these activities. He tried to give them his schedule for his events (as they asked and required) but when doing so, was told by the scheduling individual that "they could not accept it as they may lose it and then if he's scheduled he will blame them." Consquently, he was scheduled AND written up for his Conference Track Meet as he was unable to find anyone to work for him (they cannot keep employees up front), he also had to take in his State Track information and medal that he received as they didn't believe he was a participant. They said it was not in the local newspaper - which is an Iowa newspaper- we live in Nebraska. This finally prompted a phone call from me to the store manager with a list of complaints regarding the badgering and almost what I would deem "harrassment" by their front end managers. We live about 20 miles from Menards and we had a horrible winter and happen to live on a river bottom road known for its treacherous white-out and road conditions. I worked from home many times over the winter myself...however, when he'd call in (I was not having my 17 year old child on the roads if I myself am not on them) they'd tell him that other adults made it from there or that it wasn't bad in town. I spoke with another parent who had a child employed there when they were in high school and she said he experienced much the same. The leadership and direction from that group of people is appalling....one says one thing than the other store manager says another prompting yelling at these kids. Menards does NOT support student athletes or their successes. I could go on with the list but I'm just glad to be done with them. I told my son to quit and get out of there after I broke down on the road and called to have him get me (I'm a single mom and he was the only person I could get ahold of) and the girl up front asked me if I could just call someone else....WHAT???!!!! He was done the following weekend. I am remodeling my house and I will NOT be purchasing even a battery from Menards. In the past they were our go-to for everything when we built our home, with work, and for all other household needs. Not anymore!

This letter just backs up what has happened to Jessica's son in the letter sent in on 10/5/10. I was employed at menards for 2 years. During this time the management at the store and at the main office did not follow thru with what was promised when the store opened up. People that were hired full time, would be sent home when the management did not want them to work so they could get their bonus. The store manager was asking employees if they were gay because they were sharing a apartment with another employee. A employee only gets 2 10cent raises a year, your employee percentage return increased each year you worked there, but you only got it at the end of the year if you worked enough hours. The training a employee takes to improve their knowledge towards their job is over the internet, the management in my department never asked if I was taking the classes and if there was any courses they could help me with, nor did they ever ask if I would want to advance to maangement. The products sold at Menards are low quality products, especially the products sold at Christmas time. Menards is just another SWEAT FACTORY, all John cares about is the profit he makes every month. A person is better off shopping at Home Depot,Lowes,etc..

On Aug 25th 2010 my husband went to Menards south in Eau Claire. It's an hour trip there and an hour back. He purchased 3-- 8ft doors. two 9 ft wide and one 7 ft wide is what he told the employee. He was told they had them all there. Went to the back to get them, spent over half an hour looking for the 7 ft door and was told they couldn't find it and would have to order it. It was supposed to come in, in about 3 weeks. On Sept 22nd we recieved a notice that said our door was in. This notice said second notice on it and that we had 7 days to pick it up. Really? We never got a first notice. On Sept 23 my husband made the hour trip there. 5 hours later he's back with an empty trailer,.. you could see the smoke coming out his ears. The employee ordered a 7ft high door, no wonder they didn't find the door he asked for the first time. They were looking for what we asked for an 8ft door. They again have to order the door, that was, as I said ,already paid for in Aug. Pissed !!!!he still is and so am I. They charged him an $80. restocking fee to restock the door that they ordered to short. Now here it is Oct 1st, the garage is being finished and no door.

Very, very bad customer service. They refused to replace a Larson door I had just purchased. It was defective when taken out of the box. They advised me to contact Larson's for "parts". I am not happy with Menard's and I do not intend to make major purchases there again.
