When did Menards become so bad. I have more than 50 friends that are veterans, But Menards does not offer any discount for vets and or Legion Members, WHY??????????????????????? I have been sending messages to them and all I get is this,,, Again, we do not discriminate. We charge the same low prices to all without regard to race, creed or occupation. What does this have to do with supporting our vets? Can anyone give me any answers?? hntrtndy@yahoo.com

i went to the store in dolton Il. ( Menards) to purchase a Bosch portable table saw which was on sale for %549.00. They did not have a new in the box saw, BUT OFFERED TO SELL ME THE DISPLAY WHICH HAD PARTS MISSING AND THE SAW WAS IN USED CONDITION For the price of $529.00 USED CONDITION PARTS MISSING. I did not know that Menards was in the used tool business, noted that a used Bosch portable table saw in this condition has been seen for $225.00 to $275.00. Why would they offer to sell a used saw for $20.00 less than the sale price. NICE TRY MENARDS I DID NOT JUST COME TO CHICAGO ON A WATERMELON TRUCK LAST WEEK DUH, DUH DUH>

I'd rate 0 if I could. My husband purchased a snowblower and it was defective. However, he couldn't tell the axel was broken until he tried it out. Well that means putting gas into it and it can't be returned or exchanged now? Since when does warranty product fall into the guidelines of SELLING DEFECTIVE product? The store manager won't do anything but send us to a repair shop. I don't want to fix something I bought broken when my intentions were to buy something that was put together correctly and not broken. I know when something has to be fixed right away it always will. It's like buying a car and having to fix it right away, you end up doing repairs for all the time you own. You got a faulty product. However, with cars you can return them for a full refund usually within 3 days of purchase and those have gas in them????? You can't contact corporate without doing anything in writing. By the time I get a response winter will be over and we'll be out the money because it is definitely too late. I will be going to the Better Business Bureau, The Whistle Blower in the Star Tribune in MN as well as the attorney general which everyone should always do. It doesn't take long and sooner or later if everyone is doing it these companies will start to care about their customers. Another thing to use in the future-an actual VISA credit card where the company will dispute the purchase for you and the only way these places will get their money is to actually work with you. I need a new lawnmower this next summer, but I know it won't be from Menards. I will never shop there again. Home Depot has always given me great customer service so they deserve to earn my business 100%.

went to the store in holland ohio purchased 6 drill's with extended warienty sat down to registar on line directions www.menards.com scroll down to store service no such luck that will be the LAST TIME I SHOP AT MENARDS NO THANK YOU

My 22 yr old daughter has been an employee of a Menards located in Alexandria, MN for nearly 3 yrs while a student at the Tech school. She has had a good worth ethic and been a faithful employee of this store during this time. This past wkend we experienced a blizzard warning in our area and we live over 35 miles from the store location. My daughters defrosters in her vehicle malfunctioned the day previously and she was unable to get her car into the shop. She phoned into work and explained the situation and mentioned she was not comfortable driving that distance in a blizzard with out heat in her vehicle. She was told she was REQUIRED to come in to work or be "written up." My husband and I were not comfortable letting her travel in such conditions and told her to phone back and say she was not traveling in. She is now being "written up" for this. She has mentioned that this is the practice of the Menards corporation with its attendance policy. Also that if an employee is sick, even with the garden variety illness they are required to produce a DR's written statement or be "written up." My daughter does not receive health care benefits from this job and does not have health ins at all. These Dr's notes seem to be a very needless and expensive requirement. Esp with the low wage they pay their floor workers. These employee policies seem very juvenile in nature. Could it be that the poor service folks are noticing at Menards stores is due to poor employee morale??A side note to Menards Corp would be that if you require employees to travel in dangerous weather and an employee were to die in an accident you probably would be faced with a wrongful death lawsuit? Home Depot is looking more appealing to me.

We have recently purchased kitchen cabinets form your Menards Omaha store on 120th St. The project entailed a complete removal of our old cabinets and starting all over. The experience and challenge was a good one from the beginning and was long overdue. I am the homeowner, general contractor and chief gofer .Years ago I remodeled a kitchen in an older house so I was somewhat familiar with the scope of the project. We shopped around for replacement cabinets at several stores and ended up at Menards where met your salesman Bob Vacinek. Bob worked with my wife and I from the design phase through ordering our selections. It was obvious from the beginning we were talking to a highly experienced person and found he had remodeled several of his own kitchens. He was nice enough to e-mail us some before and after pictures of his remodeled kitchens to give us an idea of what could be done. During the design phase he brought out many potential problem areas to consider before starting the project and gave us a broad selection of new ideas and products to consider. Menards is fortunate to have such an experienced person on its staff. He is courteous ,professional ,helpful, knowledgeable, and understanding .I have yet to find anyone in this business that has more hands on skills when dealing with home improvement projects. Thank you,

Same old story as Frank Dobroc. Bought a snowblower, $357. Put gas and oil in it to see if it works. Set aside. No snow. Found it leaks oil. Never used it. No snow. Took it back. Said no refund or replacement because it had gasoline. This is crazy. It's like buying a new car, put gas and oil in it. And it doesn't work. Sorry, you lose. I will never, never, ever buy one thing again at Menards and will tell my large family, friends, and neighbors, never ever to buy another produce from Menards.

i was in menards in merrillville indiana and i bought in this store 10 cabinets 1 tall cabinet and 2 counter tops, well needless to say they showed a floor plan on our kitchen and we liked it,and told the man we would take it and he gave us a printout with the price on it .we went back the next day to pay for it all and the told us we were not charged for all the cabinets and that was a little over 200 dollars and we still agreed.then they told us after we had everything delivered but the counter tops that they were a special order and it would take 14 days well we waited and one of the tops was the wrong size and we told them and then they ordered another 2 more weeks and that one came crackedin the wood and the laminate.the they said 9 more days we asked them what would kind of a discount they would give us for the broken one and he said 40 dollars which was rediculous since they charge 50 dollars for delivery and we were there twicw to pick them up,after a much heated discussion with the store manager he said we could have it for sixty dollars and he was not pleasent about it,we asked him for the corporate office number and he said it was in the phone book.if this is how they treat people who have spent well over 12,000 dollars in there store in the last two years we dont need to shop there anymore.and the manager didnt seem to care, and for this order we spent well over 2500 dollars

We went to Menards in Rapid City SD, we go alot there because we like the store. But the people that work there are really the rudest people I have met. And they do not know how to redo a slip that was done wrong. We bought a comforter and seeds, the comforter was on sale for 20.00 and the seed was 7.89, the comforter they put in as 24.00 and so they had to redo the slip (plus we had a 6.00 rebate). So we got 3.19 back for there mistake and it still wasn't right. Do not the headquarter people every check on thier stores, or do they not care either. But I've learned that money is first and everything else well we will get to it when we have a moment

I stood in line for black friday sales. Within 5 minutes all the good items were gone, because they did not enforce the limits they printed. My husband and I spend thousands of dollars there a year, but I will try and take my business elsewhere when I can. By not enforcing the limits they mistreated their customers. Personally if I got these items it was just a bonus, but I saw a lot of older people stand in the line and they were not treated fairly.

Your credit card company is very rude and is a loan shark. They charged me 10.00 on a 18.00 balance for a late fee. I thought the Attourney General of Ohio was on the right track for going after Loan companies but this takes the cake. This card is very ridiculous and if anyone checked the records I paid a previous 360.00 charge ahead of time. I was thinking of opening a Corporate Account for my Company which handles retail space in the Canton area but under these cercumstances I would rather stay with HOme Depot or Lowes in the area. I wish someone at your company could deal with the matters at hand but by all the previous statement I now know I was right in closing the account and going to other companies in the area.

Howard Sprengeler (9/21/10) must be one of menards associate or one of the many dumb contractors that us AVERAGE home owners would'nt hire My last 3 purchase at menards Marion Ohio have been screwed up so bad that I will not return to any Menards stores back to Home Depot at least if you have a problem you can find in store help to fix the problem

After reading so many of these comments, all I have to say is that Menards is obviously doing a terrible job in so many areas. Mostly in customer service. Yesterday I was at the Long Grove, IL store and an associate named Marilyn (from the paint department) was very rude to me. I asked for her help and she impatiently directed me to the area where the product I needed could be but I needed to know exactly where it was and she turned very intolerant with her words and body language. So I told her to forget it and walked away from her and still she decided to continue to yell at me... I spoke to the store manager Guy Rutter about the incident and he said he would address it. Meanwhile, he kindly helped me find what I needed. Not everyone at that store is rude and impertinent. I had a few more items to find and at least two more associates efficiently and politely helped me out. Not everyone is like Marilyn. Needless to say, I don't go to Menards very often, but I will continue to try and stay away. Going through the kind of economy we're going through competition is tough, so my recommendation to this store is to invest on some real good customer service training and clean out the house. You're obviously losing much needed business. Sorry for the 1 star rating but it only takes one rude associate to make a shopping experience a bad one.

I went to your West Bend location with my daughter, and I did not have my wheel chair. Thinking I would have to rely on a shopng cart for support, I was so happy to see that the store provided me with one of their chairs. All I can say is that I will be doing ALL of my Christmas shopping at Menards. Some of the aisles were difficult to acccess due to employees stocking shelves, but every employee asked if I needed help, and most of them moved the merchandise they were stocking so that I could access the aisle. I wish I could take advantage of your "Black Friday" specials, but I think it would be too hard for me even in the wheelchair. THANK YOU for this service.

Pekin Store- Purchased 2 1 gallon cans of paint. Employee was so busy talking 2 someone else barely put paint lid on, stayed on long enough to pop off with in minutes of leaving store. Menards insurance company (Zurick)is says its half your problem should have checked lid before you put it in vehicle. Gee I never put the lid on in the first place the store did, so I thought. Now I have paint in my seat, floor, and door/panel. Store replaced the paint, but look out if you have too work with there insurance company. There attitude is you must of dumped the paint on purpose. "WHY DID YOU NOT NOTICE THE LID WAS OFF" "IF WAS THAT LOOSE IT SHOULD HAVE SPILLED BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN VEHICLE" "ITS HALF YOU FAULT"

Deb and Tim Powers...not sure what went on with your rebate, but as far as deferred payments, I can only guess that you hit the wrong box on the card reader at the register, and did not hit the button for the promotion, but the one for the 2% rebate......

i have had a card with you for over 10 yrs. my ex husbands name had to come off the card it was my ss number not his they told me to close the account ,that they can not take his name off it so now i do not have a card .thanks menards ,i guess you dont want me to shop at your store...

My husband went to the Lafayette, IN store, located at 2868 US 52 West on 04/10/10. He was assisted by a clerk while deciding (which) shingles to purchase for our new roof. The clerk encouraged him to purchase the Castlebrook 35yr shingles because it included a $500.00 rebate that he was given at the check-out counter. The rebate was only good for 30 days so I photocopied my original receipt, for my records and followed all the specific guidelines provided in the Rebate offer within two weeks of the purchase. I waited for "2" months before pursuing it because it also stated that the processing could take 30-90 days . I contacted everyone, including Castlebrook Shingle Co. but to no avail. I spoke with 2 different managers from the store. One of them, I (think) his name was Scott, tried very hard to "find" a record of the rebate. Another manager, told me that when my husband made the purchase, he found NO VALID REBATE OFFER for that particular day. His hands were tied! "I" did not know to make a copy of the rebate before mailing and saw no need to keep one for my own records. The manager told me that whomever helped him with the sale, gave him either an (expired) rebate or one that was upcoming therefore, he could do nothing. I say, $500.00 is a LOT of money! I needed that rebate to be able to finish the improvements on my home. I "do" have my proof of purchase because of the receipt. Someone needs to take some pride in the business and make this right!!! We have spent THOUSANDS of dollars in that store and when I provide our names, you can even check our records. Also, at the time of purchase, the payments were (suppose) to be deferred until March of 2011 but the billing started right away and we were forced to begin making payments to avoid any bad marks against our credit. I have posted a "Buyer Beware" notice on Facebook and plan to blog on Yahoo about this matter very soon because I am tired of large corporations, like Menards, getting away with bullying the average American citizen! Hope to hear from someone soon! By the way, Im certain that if "we" owed money to "your" company you'd be acting right away! Deb & Tim Powers- our zip code is 47963 deb_supapowers@yahoo.com
