Customer service is very bad. They placed my order on different order numbers. It wasen't explained to me that it would come in at diff. times. I had the use of a truck 2 times and now have no way to pick up the rest of my order. I'm not a contracter so I didn't know the RULES. I will never shop MENARDS again, my order was over $2100. The fact that they don't have a toll free phone number has a lot to say about a corporation. They only care about the money not the service. The store manager was of no help Freddy in Kokomo IN. He didn't even understand what I ordered he is having someone else call and explain to me in detail.
If you have so many employees WHY can't you get one of them to answer your phone? You have the WORST answering service I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. 35 minutes on hold to ask one question. Maybe we should all start advertising for your store. It works both ways. Poor customer service experiences can spread just as quickly as good advertising. I'll do my part to make sure I tell anyone who will listen just how bad your store is! Judy Martin
I am contacting you in an effort to resolve and protest a serious issue that has developed as a result of your Brooklyn Park, MN store manager refusing to honor or follow Menards published/posted return policy. Also I have contact your customer service department several times and have not received a reply regarding this issue. I purchased a string trimmer on Aug 7, 2010 and returned it on Aug 12, 2010 as not meeting my needs or performance satisfaction. Actually after two brief uses of the trimmer what right wrist became red and swollen and required medical treatment. And currently today September 1, 2010 it continues to hurt. The total cost of the item plus the extended service agreement was $115.24. At the time of the return the floor manager Chris stated that since the item had been used he could not give me a refund. I stated that my receipt indicated I was entitle to a full refund within thirty days. Chris continued to refuse to make a full refund despite your posted and published policy. He offered me an in store credit which I rejected. I insisted on speaking to the store manager. Chris called Shaynn on the phone and they discussed the issue for several minutes at which time Chris said the store manager agreed that I could not be refunded. After several minutes of waiting, Shaynn Davies came and repeated what Chris had stated . I took the in store credit and said I would be filing a dispute. As stated above I have made several attempts to resolve this issue to no avail as your customer service department refuses to follow up on this issue. I might add that I had been shopping at this Menards location for over twenty five years and have spent thousands of dollars and up until now have always had a very pleasant customer experience. Needless to say I am extremely offended and shocked by this heinous treatment I have received.
I also like another past Menards customer , I will NO LONGER SHOP AT MENARDS !! To start off we also would like the opportunity to give 1/100 of 1 for a score . We have shopped at Menards for years , up until tonight . About 3 months ago ouir brother suffered a massive heart attack . He died four times and he almost did not come out of his coma . Well , he came out and now is need of a helping hand .We had to hire out the remodel job because my health is not that good s well due to my liver cancer . I have not been doing very well . We had to make some changes at our house and it was in no way , right timing . The bathroom had t be remodled downstairs and also upstairs . The vanities needed to be replaced and the office downstairs had to made into a bedroom . Well with that being said , we went shopping at Home Depot and then Menards . We decided on Menards because our daughter since 1 years old singing the song .Save big Money at Menards . So we purchased all the above items and then some others . Spent over $1800.cash . We have so much things going on , we misplaced the receipt . Tonight , we brought back one medicine cabinet and also a moen faucet back because the moenshwer faucet was already on the whirlpool tub that we already purchased and the vanity was too wide with two , so weonly needed one . When myself and my brother walked into Menards we informed the employee that we did not find the receipt and that we would except a store credit . the employee informed us that there have been alot of items that have been stolen and that the store that we said we purchased say that the cannot find a copy of items that were sold , We asked to speak to the Store Manager . John the store manager came over. He was VERY RUDE !! He looks at the boxes and we replied that they were never opened .He says what's the problem . I said there is no problem we just cannot find the receipt and would like a store credit . He replied " Well I guess you have a problem then " He said I will have to run you threw Corporate Office . There is nothing you can do ? Yeah I can run you threw corporate . Give me your Drivers License . Then corporate will get back to you,Well I hope corporate will get back to us . This person should not be the manager His attitude was , do to Home Depot if you wish . That is what we will do !! Do not shop Menards !!!! Do yourself a favor ...
Sometimes excellent customer services, sometime bad impression services before you left Menard store'door, what is going on people? Please forget the problem you have at home before you get to work. ......You still owed my one rebate out of two. This is debt that you promise to give out, why taking so long....Menard?
I am an amputee, left leg a/k and I use crutches a lot. Being a homeowner being able to shop in your Joliet, Il Jefferson st. store would be advantageous to me, but Iam forced to spend my money at your competition because you don't have electric carts. I do not want to have someone push me around in a wheelchair the basket is not big enough ! I think you would find that being able to independently shop in your stores wwould pay off handsomely. Treat us like spenders and not like second class citizens. Thank you for your time, Gary Hassig garyfly2k@aol.com
I went on 8/15/10 to the Tinley Park, IL's store to buy some patio brick for my backyard. I brought 1700 bricks to have delivery to my home on Monday 8/16/10. I waited at home all day. I watered my grass, pulls some weeds and had the dog outside pretty all day, with no driver! My two neighbors across the street were out doing their lawns and told me that they would keep a eye out for the truck. My wife came home about 3:30pm-3:40pm from work. No driver. The Doorbell rung but it was a UPS's guy with a package. No driver. Today I called the store and talked to Pam or Patty (Delivery Coordinator) who told me the driver was there??? He sat outside for 15 minutes and no one was home. I said the driver never rung the doorbell or knocked. I was home. She then said she believe her drivers and that i would have to pay another $49.99 for a redelivery. When was there a 1st? I asked to speak to a Manager and she then hung up on me! I called back to speak to someone else about this. Enter Joe (Assist. Manager) who did all but defended her and her response to a customer. 10yrs ago, I worked for J.B. Hunt DCS for Home Depot as a Project Manager/ Operation Supervisor with 13 stores in the Western Suburbs of Chicagoland, this would of never happened with them. I'm done with Menards!!!!! Did i mention I spend over $600 in one day at that store?
I am NOT happy with a general manager at Mitchell, SD. Mike, the general manager, saw on his monitor that a employee, my son, was talking to some girls outside while on courtesy patrol. He assumed that he and they were "flirting". In the meantime, someone in the mens bathroom defecated all over in a stall and threw their dirty underwear in a corner. The general manager is in charge of the bathrooms since he let the custodian go home for the evening. He obviously didn't want to clean the bathroom, so he tells the head cashier to tell my son to clean up the bathroom because he was socializing with the customers. What is really ironic is that the girls inquired about working at Menards and were asking my son if he liked working at Menards. Had the arrogrant power hungry general manager had just ask my son about the conversation he saw on the monitor, he would have told him of their inquiry of working at Menards. Mike, this is a abuse of employer, employee rights. You don't get to punish employees by making them clean bathrooms for talking to other people. Or make them pull weeds for talking to another employee. Wow.... Menards sucks. They treat their employee like crap......I want my son to quit this crappy place...he does not deserve to be treated like this.... no one does. I think Mike should be reprimanded for his immature behavior. An employer should never make his employee do something he would not do himself. If you are thinking of working at Menards,,,,,,DON'T...... They abuse good help ........
purchased water heater, brought home, installed it, did Not Work, took back , brought the 2nd one home, that one, did not heat properly either, what a bunch of crap , twice faulty water heater, and we live out of town from where it was purchases. POOR POOR POOR<
I purchased your ceiling paint made for Menards. We only had it for a few months before we used it, so it definately wasn't old. When we first opened it, you didn't notice an odor. But as we started painting, the smell got worse and worse. My husband and I were sick for almost 2 days. We even had to throw away the paint brush we used. Be very careful not to use this stuff unless you can open a window.
Well, I wish there was something that I could post for less than a 1 star rating. Today my husband and I went to the Richmond Indiana store (where we have spent severla hundreds of dollars) to purchase a new window air conditioner and a new front door. To make a long story shorter they were out of air conditioners so we got the door we wanted and left. Upon returning home I called the Tipp City Ohio store to see if they had window air conditioners. I used your number system and the phone rang and rang over and over again with no answer. Finally some girl answered the phone and asked where she could direct my call, I told her I was calling about window air conditioners and she asked me to hold on. She came back in a few minutes and asked me to continue holding... this went on several different times. She finally came back on the line and I was told that Yes that they did indeed have several window air conditioners. So I left and went for another half hour drive to go get a new air conditioner. Upon my arrival I went to the appliance section and looked for the window air conditioners and found none. I asked a sales associate and was told that "all we have are 2 through the WALL air conditioners." I asked if they could be put into a window area and was told yes. I was about to purchase the air conditioner when i was told.. "You must run this to 220 volt and can not plug it into a direct outlet." I asked where the rest of the air conditioners were and was told that "there are none. But, sorry for your trouble and have a nice day." I went up front and asked to speak to a manager... he finally came up front his name is Dustin. I told him why I was so upset this time and told him that the last time I came into that store they had mis-stocked the shelf and when I questioned the price on the item I was buying was told that I was lying. This was done in front of my 3 young grandchildren. Again I was told, I'm sorry we don't have what you called for and drove 1/2 hour out of your way, and it's not ok for one of my associates to call you a liar but I can't do anything about your troubles, but, have a great day!! I told Dustin that I wanted to be compensated for my troubles and he could give me a gift card and was told "I can't do that, corporate wouldn't allow that, but, I'll give you a deal on your next purchase when you come in again." I don't know that I will ever go into that store again. One time I'm called a liar and the next time I'm lied to. Why would I want to go back and be treated that way again? There is no such thing as customer service -- bunches and bunches of people that won't or can't help you. Pam Hoover mother2dd@yahoo.com
Back on 6/27/10 my review was posted. To my surprise I received a response. Mr. Larson the hardware buyer said my business was important. To make a long story short all I had to do was return the power washer for another one. Twice I told him that would make the third one. All I wanted was a refund for a product that just did not work. I never got that refund or a response from Mr. Larson after that. I was a long time customer. Never again. You all know the statistics. One person will tell ten and so on. Where I come from thats considered stealing.
After reading all these posts it seems like I'm not the only one with a Menards complaint. I've shopped there for years and even ask my kids for menards gifts cards for my birthday and fathers day. I'm going to try and condense my complaint. I ordered a door, I did not need the frame so they considered that a "special order". I was replacing a wood outside door with a fiber glass door. Got the door, it was too short, took it back and was told that door only comes in 79" length. Since I couldn't use the door I asked for a refund and was told I would get a partial "STORE CREDIT" which meant I lost almost $200.00 on the deal!! The employee there when I took the door back said I would have to get a wood door at 84" and cut it down. I went home to think it over and went back a week later and talked to another employee who told me that wooden doors only come in 79" length. I said okay give me my original door and I'll make it fit,,,,the employee said okay but you have to use your store credit and another $200.00. I already lost $200.00 plus they wanted another $200.00!!! Unbelievable! Now I'm stuck with no door and a store credit which I sure don't want to use, I hate Menards. Kenny who will no longer shop the Moline IL Menards,,,,or any for that matter.
I cannot believe it you cannot get anywhere with a store with a complaint don't try calling to speak to someone in corporate they will not talk to you. I bought a e-z build shed and cannot put it together. So now i have a big piece of nothing sitting in my back yard and cannot finish it. CUSTOMER SERVICE WERE IS IT, THEY ARE HIDING ALL OF THERE CORPORATE EMPLOYESS FROM COMPLAINTS. I DO NOT WANT TO TALK TO A RECORDING AND WAIT A WEEK TO GET A RESPONSE The store contacted the buyer and he told him there was nothing he could do, the manufacturer refuses to help cause they no loger do business with MENARDS. Unbelievable no support on anything you buy there, you have wait until the complaint gets forwarded to corporate before anyone will contact you. I just hope this thing does not fall down and breaks apart before someone calls. randy_k66@yahoo.com
I was in your store on July 25,2010. Fork lift operators where speeding to fast & honking there horn to much. It got on my nerves so we left. Your store is very nice but I can't see getting mowed down from those lift operators. Shirley in Ohio
Here is a good one for you, I want to shop the local Menard's store online and end up with the special order online store. Have to drive 10 miles to compare prices against the local Lowe's store, this is ridiculous. I know of people that drive well over 200 miles just to shop at Menard's and I'll bet anything they would highly appreciate having the capability of shopping the actual store online before making the drive. Your business establishment is the pits compared to other comparable businesses. I'll continue to give my money to Lowe's until you people wake up and smell the roses in favor of your customers.
Why bother writing a complaint ? You dont seem to care anyway ! You guys probably sit there and laugh at all us idiots making you rich. I can see it now " hey John listen to this letter or hey John check out this complaint " hahahahaha. Its almost impossible to reach anyone and as i said NO ONE seems to care. By the way, the guest svcs number has a RECORDING {of course} that states that customer service is very important to you. Just so you know, THAT made me laugh hahahahahaahahahaha. If you do read this its kennymalady@yahoo.com. At least let me know if i got a chuckle out of you !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been customer of Menards since you opened the Sioux City Store, after moving to Missouri in 1995 I've been waiting for Menards to come south. Now we have aMenards in Sedalia, Mo. Quite a nice store, just one problem. Menards is obviously not intrested in older people with disabilities as you have no handicapped scooters. This is a large area of retired people & disabled vetrans, most of the major stores Wal-mart, Lowes, Sutherlands & many of the grocery stores have these available for those who need them. So as for now I shall have to shop at Lowes for my lumber & hardware needs. Thank you, Dudley Risley Warsaw, MO
July 12, 2010 Mr. Dave Harrington I purchased 91 six-packs of annuals in May of this year at $1.34 each plus 8% tax for a total of $131.70. Although all had been blooming in my garden, during the past several weeks a group of them dryed up, Seventy-eight flowers equal to 13 six-packs at my cost of $18.81, tax included, died. I returned them to your Long Grove, IL store where they were purchased for a refund and was refused. Your store manager, Mr. Guy Rutter, very courteously denied the refund because your policy was not to accept any returns of "annuals" after 30 days. I certainly understand that "annuals" only last for the summer season and unlike other plants you sell cannot be guaranteed for a year. However, reason expects them to last through the summer and we are not even one month into the season. I request that you, in fairness, rethink your policy and guarantee your "annual" plants at least through their expected growing season. Please refund my cost of the bad flowers. Thank you. Edward A. I have been shopping at Menards for many years. So sometimes an employee has a bad day. We all do. I have read so many complaints about this store but in my thousands of experiences, as a contractor, using this store I have to give them two thumbs up! Their items are easy to find, the employees are very helpful, returns couldn't be any easier, you can find purchase info. for the past 30 months if you use credit card to purchase, what more do you want? One complaint above was that the paint smelled and caused sickness. I'm sure the label said nothing to the tune of use in well ventilated area because that would be stupid to say. Come on people, USE YOUR BRAINS! I have since moved to a very small town in Southwest Kansas. There are only local Do it Best lumber yards that have no selection, inflated prices and outside, very unclean yards where your lumber gets wet and birds poop all over it. Not to mention the mice in the insulation.Very hard to keep prices down and quality up, along with more selection. I can only imagine having my Menards at my disposal. There is talk about 3 Menards stores coming to Kansas only a mere 2 1/2- 3 hours away. This will be 3 hours closer than the Lincoln stores I travel to now. I welcome this as travel time is cut in half to save the money, as well, Lowes and Home Depot will have to bow to the mighty Menards on their prices when they do arrive. I am all about saving money for my customers and through Menards I can. You people who have complaints must be average home owners, not contractors. I guess you should leave the headaches to the pros. Thank you Menards for the years you have served me and my business. Hope to see you soon in my neck of the woods.
