Needing garlic powder for a recipe, I just happened to notice that it says on the container "PRODUCT OF CHINA." I will look more closely at the labels where Meijers is getting there products from. Enough is enough! I will buy others brands that are made and processed here in wonderful USA!!!!! Time to switch up Meijers and join the made in America crowd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Sir or Madam: I visited your Meijer store last night on May 12, 2011 and found that the Garden Shop was closed at 8:00 p.m. Seems quite early for the store to close a revenue producing department, especially during this early time of year when you need to sell all the plants, flowers, bushes, trees, etc. No doubt you will have truckloads of this for the next 3-4 months at least. If I were the Store Manager or an employee running this department, I would not enjoy being handcuffed by not being able to compete with the Lowe's or Home Depot Store that stays open until 10:00 p.m. They are making revenue and hiring talented employees who enjoy working in this department. In any event, we had an employee go out and retrieve not only what I wanted to purchase but also another customer behind me. Seems as though Meijers does not cater to the consumer to enjoy their shopping experience and also says go to another competitor to obtain your plants. Closing the Garden Shop on Mondays - Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. is Bad Policy. Sincerely, Rich

Two years ago i began working with Pepperidge Farm Bread Company and the grocery manager at the Meijer in Lexington, KY. I wanted the 32 ounce family size white loaf of bread that had 32 slices. After about a month of run around, i was finally able to get Meijer to keep this item in consistently. It was delivered Monday and Thursday - 2 loaves at a time. Then, 2 months ago, it was no longer on the shelf with the other Pepperidge Farm white bread (small loaves). I left a note, spoke in the store to the grocery manager and called. Finally, i was told that the corporate office is who decides that and they are "getting ready to re-set the shelves" however, the store manager has NO idea how corporate knows whether or not this item is in demand!!!! What??? Is it just me or is this ridiculous to think that the corporate office may just decide to randomly restock an item they have NO idea that customers want!! I asked the store manager for the customer service # and have now been on the hold waiting for him to find it for 9:30 minutes!!!! A Meijer manager cannot find his own corporate office contact information????? This is insane!

I have a Meijers Mastercard. I just received a notice that we will no longer be awarded $10 Meijer Bucks. Now we get a 20% off coupon and even the use of that is limited. Now instead of getting $10 off on an item, I have to spend $50 at one time to get $10 off. Well I am one person on a limited income and I do not spend That kind of money at one time in Meijers, not even on food. Wish you would go back to the old way, but I know you will not. So now I will spend even less money at your store.

It's a shame that so many people have so little patience or compassion these days. One lady writes on the first page that she had to wait for 5 minutes before getting service. Oh me! Oh my! How horrible! We Americans are getting so that we want everything instantaneously and it's ridiculous. Patience is truly a virtue that this culture has lost. How depressing.

My son just celebrated his 6th birthday, and we purchased him a Nerf gun from Meijer. Upon opening the box, my husband found the razor blade from a box cutter inside it. I called headquarters, and was then treated as if it were no big deal. I asked to speak to a manager, and conveniently the phones were down and I was asked to call back at a later time. I then asked "Jonathin" from customer service to please take my name and number and have them contact me back and with that I was met with a heavy sigh and reluctance to take my information. I realize mistakes happen, but, my son is 6 years old, and had we not taken the box from him to open it...there are a million things that could have happened!

i was shopping at the meijers in normal, il. #207. i had gone there for 2 reasons since i live on the other side of town and dont go there on a regular basis. your ad for sunday 4/10/2011 stated falls creek mens cargo shorts buy one get one for $1. great, i can get 2 pair and spend $2.00 for 2 more pair for work. also there was ncaa liscensed team shirts buy one get one for $1. when i got to the check out and everything was rung up i did not get the two shorts for a dollar each and i did not get the second shirt for a dollar. i told the check out lady what the ad had said and she went to take a look for herself, when she came back she said a pair of shorts that i had picked out was on the wrong rack. i told her they were all falls creek shorts on the rack, the yellow sign said buy one get one for a $1, we argued bout that. then came the shirt she also said the shirt was not the shirts that were for $1, i was very upset and instead of getting a manager and explaining the situation, i ended up arguing with this checker for 10 minutes i told her fine i had had enough and paid and left. i called the store when i got home to talk to a manager about what had happened and was put on hold for 15 minutes. thats it i will not shop at your store or my friends and family. the ad stated buy one and get one for $1 and you did not live up to your ad. i have worked in retail and grocery for over thirty years, i understand mistakes happen, but this lady did not help me did not get a manager for a problem that had arisen.

I have been scrolling down and reading these negative comments, and personally, I don't feel any sympathy for any of you. The Algonquin, IL store employees are helpful and friendly and their store is very clean. The prices at Meijer are so much better than Jewel or Dominics. Those of you who complain about customer service are either A. expecting too much out of someone who works in a supermarket. or B. you are placing blame on individuals at store level who cannot control every facet of the retail cycle (i.e. if the Meijer warehouse is not receiving a product from their vendor, how do you expect the store to have it?)I have been frustrated occasionally, while shopping at Meijer, but having worked in a grocery store before, I understand their problems. Perhaps those of you who take your frustration out of Meijer employees should consider what it would be like if the situation were reversed.

3/30/2011 My wife and myself went to the Petoskey Meijer store for a few groceries this morning. We had purchased a jar of Meijer harvard beets about three weeks ago and when we went to use them last night they were full of scum.We decided to return them for our money back. The gal at the service counter wanted my wifes I.D. TO RETURN THE BEETS BUT MY WIFE DOESN'T DRIVE MUCH AND HAD NO I.D. on her person.I went up to the service desk and asked if I could get my money back.Cheryl asked me for the receipt??now who keeps three week old grocery receipts?????I informed her I didn't have it and received less satisfaction.Meijer said they stand behind their brands with or without a receipt, I beg to differ.I tried to email this to Meijer Corporate and couldn't get through to them.We USED to shop there four or five times a week but don't plan to spend any of our hard earned cash with them again. They need to realize there not the only grocery store in Petoskey. sincerely,Jerry L.Ness

RE: Meijers 28th Street/Cascade Time and time again people park in the "Curb Pick Up Only" area and also in the "FIRE LANE" area. I have gone in and mentioned it to an employee and have been told "there is nothing we can do about it". Today a van was parked in the Handicaped Only...I went in and told the lady at the door...guess what..."nothing we can do about it". I found a Manager (finally) and he said he would go right out and check. I walked to the front area and watched him. He walked over by produce and then to the back of the store. He never even looked. The cashiers never smile. Are they all so unhappy with their job? I smiled at the cashier today and said hi...she looked at me like I had 2 heads and looked away. I usually shop there 2 to 3 times a week. (fresh fruits and veggies)And the parking and the rudness never changes. Will it ever?

Tried to get a job at Meijers. They said I was hired but they had to do a back ground check. OK fine....no problem. Now almost 3 weeks later I am tired of waiting for their back ground check to come back. I got another job. When and if they call me I will tell them....too bad....you took too long. If they want people to work for them they shouldn't take so long in getting the back ground checks done. People are trying to get jobs because they need and want to work. The company I work for now also did a back ground check on me and it look less then a week. Maybe Meijer's should get a different company to do the checks on people.

I was introduced too Meijers' about 12 years ago in Lexington, KY. It quickly became one of my favorite stores. When I moved to central Ohio in 2001 I found a meijer store in Lewis Center, OH which was 14 miles from the house. Our family would go their a minimum of twice a week. I was extremely delighted when they opened store #249 in Delaware, OH. I have been spending $80 to $150 a week on food, pet supplies, gas, and clothing and know most of the employees. This past week was the straw that broke the camels back. About a year or so ago they started marking down the meat that was approaching its "best if used date" by 20% instead of 40%. We just started buying less meat at Meijer since Kroeger still marked theirs' down by 40-50%. Recently The store was instructed to not mark down lunch meat or roasted chickens. Because I am on a fixed income and these are not the best of economical times we will be taking the majority of our business to Kroeger and Walmart. I won't be giving up totally on the local Meijer but since my wife has just retired, you are causing us to reevaluate where are dollars are spent.

I am looking for anyone who knows a Quality Class Action Attorney in the State of Michigan who could take a case involving Meijer Inc. and some practices they have performed for several years that have disadvantaged many, many of their customers by over-charging them a considerable amount over the suggested retail proce for an item they carry. I am not at liberty to state all the facts pertaining to tis case just yet, because I must discuss all the ramifications of the possible Class Action Lawsuit and the issues involved before it can be made public knowledge. I need the assistance of anyone who know an Attorney that is allowed to practice Law in the State of Michigan, who is a reputable Class Action Attorney that can assist me with getting tis lawsuit started, which is sure to help a great majority of shoppers throughout the Meijer Stores Inc. food chain. If you know of an attorney who performs class action lawsuits, please have him/her to contact me directly at uraqtndeed@aol.com A.S.A.P. so that we can get this lawsuit off the ground and help make the public aware of their deceptive practices of vastly over-charging unknowing customers 300-400% over the actual cost or suggested retail price of an item they carry. Can someone please help me find a Class Action Attorney who I can discuss the details of this case with? Thanks!! My e-mail again is, uraqtndeed@aol.com or you may post the information to this website, where I will also gladly retrieve it from. Thank-You and May God Bless You!!!

I shop a few grocery stores in order to save money so I do go to Meijer for groceries but I'm not crazy about our store. For instance, I went there after work today & because it is the middle of the week I thought the shelves would be stocked with the sale priced items. Unfortunately I was wrong. Whenever they have a sale you can be sure they won't have a lot of it in stock. There was not 1 Cook's ham to be found in the store & so many shelves were bare & there were dollies with boxes of stock on them but no one around to put them on the shelves. The store could use a good cleaning too. Right now I am willing to pay a little extra at my local Hollywood Grocery store because their shelves are always stocked & I've never seen the messiness & empty shelves there. There's a lot to be said for smaller family run businesses!

My voice is small, but the internet is very big - I will do my best to let everyone know they need to boycott purchasing liquor from Meijer. At least in Illinois, I am told that it is against company policy to refund any liquor sales - THIS IS EXTREMELY DECEITFUL BECAUSE THEY ALSO REFUSE TO POST THIS POLICY IN THE LIQUOR DEPT WHERE CUSTOMERS CHOOSE TO BUY THE PRODUCTS! You are unaware of this policy until you go to return excess purchases and a small sign in the customer service area states this policy. I will no longer buy any liquor from Meijer, which means that anytime I entertain guests, Meijer will lose out on my grocery purchases as well, as it makes much more sense to do my shopping elsewhere. Fortunately, I have several other grocery store options as close or closer than Meijer, so I will have no need to shop there for everyday purchases as well.

Kim, I would have to say that there are ALOT more people that shop at Meijer than you even know. Just because you might tell 300 or even 1,000 people not to shop there, you're not hurting them at all. As a matter of fact, they might benefit from not having people like you shop there because if you feel its Meijer's fault that your son stole from them and they are making the decision not to hire him because of that, you're sadly mistaken. Yes, kids will be kids but understand that most places will not hire someone if they have a history of theft.

I was in store number 233, in Allen Park, Michigan. Being a, what I thought was "valued customer", I attempted to purchase two live lobsters. Upon receiving the two live lobsters, my fiance and I were followed around the store by Loss Prevention (I was never informed of who they were until I approached the customer service desk to return my purchase). I stopped when I realized we were being followed, by what I thought was someone who was going to rob us, and the man in question stopped as well and asked me very rudely "What are you looking at?" I'm sorry, I just don't know how to put into words on how disrespectfully we were treated today. I went to the customer service desk to let make the store aware of the incident, and I should of known the help desk was no help. Again, was looked upon as if I was bothering them..... WOW. We paid for the items, and my fiance cried because she nor I have never been treated this way in our lives, especially at a store I frequent often and spend a great deal of money at.... I guess Meijer feels they can lose well paying customers. When I cautiously confronted what I thought to be the robbers, they proceded to tell me that people steal seafood often; so your telling me I'm going to put a 9lbs and 7lbs live lobster in my pants... REALLY! I watched two older caucasian women buy seafood just before I made my selection, and neither of them was followed around the store. Racial profiling?! Because I am a younger male of hispanic decent, I obviously had every intention of trying to steal the seafood. I only hope no one gets treated like this ever,ever,ever... Meijers your prices are not low, your standards in treating customers are!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dear "not enough stars" & "rick", i'm really happy for you that you guys have great stores in your area. (ok, i know that sounded sarcastic, but IT REALLY IS SINCERE. I PROMISE) the greenwood, in store SUCKS!!!! i was lucky enough to have someone help w/Christmas this year for my 2 YOUNGEST children. i have an 8 yr old AUTISTIC son & a 5 yr old daughter w/ADHD & ODD....the only problem w/the gifts was this: they got clothes. (which was great, they assumed that's what they needed) but my kids where UNIFORMS to school. they only get to wear "street clothes" 4 FRIGGIN DAYS A MONTH!!!! all i wanted to do was "EXCHANGE" the clothing for EDUCATIONAL TOYS TO ASSIST THEM IN LEARNING & "ONE" SPIDER-MAN TOY & "ONE" DORA TOY!!! they said all i could do was EXCHANGE for THE EXACT SAME THING IN A DIFFERENT SIZE. it doesn't matter to them that the clothes will sit in the closet W/TAGS STILL ON & NEVER TO BE TOUCHED. and that my two kids WILL NOT HAVE ONE DA** THING TO OPEN ON CHRISTMAS MORNING!!!! I'M ABSOLUTELY HEART BROKEN OVER THIS. they try SO HARD through the year to be good kids, dispite their "quirks" as we call them. and now they will believe that THEY DIDN'T BEHAVE WELL ENOUGH TO DESERVE ANYTHING FROM SANTA!!!! I WANT TO PERSONALLY THANK "TOMMY" AT THE GREENWOOD STORE FOR RUINING MY KIDS' CHRISTMAS & MINE IN THE PROCESS!!! i LIVE FOR my kids' HAPPINESS!!! and this is TEARING ME UP!!! sorry to burden everyone w/this. BUT THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LETTING ME VENT!!!! :)

I recently went to the Knapp's corner Meijer in Grand Rapids, MI. There were many food free sample tables set up the day that I was there. While waiting for my husband to park our car, I stopped at a free sample table in the produce section at the entrance of the store. On the center of the sample table was a large vegetable tray with a ranch veggie dip. Along with several other people, I stopped to eat a couple of carrots with dip. I stood nearby for a few minutes watching more customers eat the same samples while waiting for my husband. After a few minutes passed, an employee returned to the sample table and asked me if I had eaten anything from the table. I replied that I had and she said,"I hope that you don't get sick from that because that was supposed to be a display. That food has been sitting out all day." It took about 14 hours for me to feel sick and within 24 hours I was extremely ill, vomiting and diarrhea. If this food had been intended to be a display it should have been covered and/or labeled as a display item only and do not eat. I was not the only person who confused this display as a free sample, therefore, I am sure that there are several other customer who also became ill from eating this spoiled, not labeled food. Beware of eating any of the free samples at Meijer! There is no telling how long they have been sitting out for. Disgusting!

There is an older woman in the meat department in the Louisville Kentucky Meijer. I think the woman is losing her mind. She has been rude to me and to my husband more than once and I have heard her mumbling profanities. I don't know why they keep her but she has no business being around sharp objects. I sadly will not be shopping for food at Meijers until she is no longer there. I've had it with this woman.
