You are a horrible company for being open on Thanksgiving. Really, you think people are going to come and shop there? Think again, buster. I don't think too much of your store as it is, but now really despite your store for "you corporate people" put money before the value of family. Honestly, how much money do you really think your going to make nationwide for being open on Thanskgiving. Maybe foreigners would go shopping, but hopefully true blue red-blooded Americans won't come to your store at all. You're a greedy company and I will never ever go to Meijer again.
We shop @ Meijer in TAYLOR, MI. One day I spent over 2 hours in the bottle return dept. because they were all FULL & the woman who was working there simply walked away. I called the front-desk 4 times and the woman next to me in the LONG line called twice! We were both told there was someone working on it when indeed there was nobody there! Finally, the young man who was moved from this department came in and had everything fixed in 5 min.!!!! I called corporate, what a JOKE! They had the store manager "call" me, HE WAS RUDE AND COULD CARE LESS BY THE TONE OF HIS VOICE! Maybe he needs to be let go and they can PROMOTE the young man who used to work in the Bottle Return Dept. to Store Manager because HE CAN CLEARLY DO A BETTER JOB WITH HIS EYES CLOSED! Oh, I also told Corporate & the so called "store manager" how GROSS the bottle return machines were, how they are dripping in GOO, Sticky & the bottles get STUCK on the belt when the machines are trying to "function"! The Floor is so NASTY, you stick to it!! I have tried to let Corporate know and am surprised they don't seem to care at all. WELL, IF MEIJER DOESN'T CARE ENOUGH TO GET A MANAGER WHO IS "WILLING" TO KEEP THE BOTTLE RETURN DEPT. WORKING & CLEAN THEN MAYBE WE SHOULD SPEND OUR MONEY AT ANOTHER STORE LIKE WALMART!! MEIJER, GET RID OF YOUR LAZY MANAGER IN TAYLOR OR YOUR BOTTOM LINE WILL REFLECT HIS NEGLECT, I'M SURE IT IS ALREADY!!
Meijers doesn't care about it's customers or it's employees. The profits it earns are gained by increased reductions in products, and services, and scalping back drastically on the number of employees present to do the labor necessary to keep the place running. The few employees that they do schedule to work are multitasking to the point to where the business is breaking down at fundamental levels. You can only cannnibalize your laborers so much before it starts to affect how the business itself functions. Meijers is a family owned and family run business, which rakes in over 14 Million in profits each year. What you have is a big box store, filled with cheap merchandise manufactored in China, and American workers who are carrying the company on their backs, while earning low wages and being treated in a demeaning and disrespectful manner by the arrogant managers within the store. The American people have exactly the kind of marketplace that they wanted...bigger, cheaper, understaffed concrete mausoleums full of junk. You get the world you create.
Had shopped at Meijer in Okemos fron the day it opened many years ago, when we lived in East Lansing. When we move permanently to our lake estate in SW Michigan ten yeras ago, we started going to the Meijer in Three Rivers, and later the manager OF that store was a fellow who had once worked in the Okemos store. We continued shopping there for a total of eight years until an aggravation, much the same as the one I am NOW reporting ocurred. Then, we started going to Wal Mart in Sturgis, for two years. This past Sunday, I thought perhaps, I would go to Meijer in Three Rivers, as I recalled they carry pickled ginger, which, as it turned out, they no longer do. Nor does Wal Mart. Since I was there at Meijer, I decided to pick up a few things and save myself another trip to Wal Mart this week.I bought about a hundred hix worth of stuff.I noticed on the register receipt an online survey offerng a thousand bux prize to a winner, if selected. A good marketing ploy, and I know, as that is my field of expertise. At home, I went online, filled out the questionaire and when I got to the final page, it asked for my Email URL.I entered that data, but in red lettering I was told that MY email URL was not valid! I do beleve after 17 years with the SAME Email address, I KNOW what it is, but the Meijer software would not allow me to hit ''submit.'' So, Meijer has self-defeated its otherise worthwhile marketing gimmick. plus, once again, they have lost THIS customer to Wal Mart, I also phoned the number given on the Meijer website to alert them about their problem, but th young fellow with whom I spoke had NO clue what I was talking about.FRIGGIN' IDIOTS! .
lack of communication between the RRA (Human Resources) and the team leaders. Schedule changes constantly. Lots of favoritism in hours scheduled. Uneven descipline procedures. Different rules for different employees. Low pay for the high level of work and responsibility. There is only so much multitasking a person can do - 1 employee cannot do 10 peoples jobs - especially when they have no training and just have to "figure" things out on their own. They say that they want to make things better at Meijer and ask for suggestions - but they really don't want to change anything. How can someone be a manager and NEVER have operated a cash register? Never have actually dealt with a customer? Sitting in offices playing on computers or standing around talking - they should have to start off at the bottom and see what the job is like working with customers.
I worked there and after 2 mistakes I had made they told me I had 3 and offered to move me to a different department since I was very friendly with customers. They NEVER showed me where they came up with 3. They transferred me to another dept but that person insisted I work on Sunday mornings when I had noted when being first hired that I can work around any hours except Sunday mornings. They proceeded to let me go. The training wasn't very good actually. I see way too much laziness working there and yet as a hard worker who wants to work it disgusts me.
We use the Petoskey Meijers store. My husband loved the carmel apple pie we purchased there last fall. I have spoken with the bakery help and asked when they were getting in those pies. They told me to call in the morning which I have done now for a week. They tell me that they have ordered the pies from Meijer but none have been sent. I guess I don't know what is the problem. You have a product that sells and clients like and you don't send the product. One of the reasons I shop Meijer is for the bakery. If you choose not to send your higher quality products I can pursue another source...that being another vendor. Please send this product to Petoskey.
I wish I could give you Minus 1 star. I was overcharged for Red delisous apples. They were marked 69 cents a pound. They were rung up at 1.69 per pound. When I went to get the price corrected, your clerk read what the receipt said and confirmed that was the price for my apples. I asked for a refund. I was not refunded the price I paid, but 40 cents less. I would have to pay a restocking fee. because I caught you cheating me. This was my first time shopping at meijer. I can't imagine why anyone would shop there twice. Cheat me once, shame on you. Cheat me twice, shame on me.
I have been shopping at the Waterford Mi Meijers for over 20 years, giving them at least 800 to 1000 dollars a month, two weeks ago I left my purse in a shopping cart in the parking lot, I called the store, talked to several people left my name and number, had my son go up and check the store and ask if anyone had turned it in, (as I was at work) nothing,I had to cancel everything and put a red flag on my SS# get a new drivers licence. Two weeks later the public library calls me to say that Meijer called them and they had my purse. I went up to the store and they gave me my purse with everything still in it nothing missing, I said who and when was this turned in? The answer I got from two managers and a security man was " we dont know" They had and still have no Idea when it was turned in or who turned it in, It just showed up out of the blue, I beleive it was there the whole time. The only thing they will say to me is well sorry but at least you got it back! Very Shotty work Meijers.
Currently have a question on why the standale meijer store cannot get a new receving belt, ours is beat to heck and has been fixed many times and since I work back there I find it's irritating to work with broken equipment since we have fired our maitnence man we receivers are forced to fix it ourself if we can or keep complaining to get something done but nothing seems to happen. I dont think you understand how frustrating it is to have a receiving belt that is falling apart missing pieces and has very much seen better days, is it that hard too get a new conveyor belt thats brand new or slightly used in good shape is that so much to ask. Belt doesnt work half the time and makes unloading the trucks a pain, not to mention takes longer and I heard thats all they talk about in the meetings is the time it takes the receivers to get the trucks done in a fast and efficient manner, but this cant & wont happen at our standale store until something is done to fix the problem, which is very much overlooked by the company, 2ndly besides needing a new conveyor belt we need new hand jacks, all the 1's we have are in need of repair but it's cheaper to buy new 1s than it is to have some 1 repair them, try moving a pallet full of pop or juice thats stacked high up very heavy stuff & move that with a broken pallet jack not gonna work , just makes everything harder.
A lot of Canadians love your store in Fort Gratiot Michigan, and shop there regularly!(Port Huron) For the past year, at least the Canadian Dollar has been higher than the USA Dollar! Yet on our Credit cards it shows the reverse! Our question to you is, which Wall Street, does your Financial department get their exchange rates from? All stores in the USA do charge the appropriate exchange rate, except Meijer's! We tried to phone, but the service was poor and our questions remain unanswered! Apart from this issue, we would rate your store very high! tonysytsma@gmail.com
Very unhappy and disgusted with Meijer. We have been racially profiled in their stores several times. No one believes that it happens, but it does. My only recourse is to never give them one dime of my money. If you don't want us in your stores then have the courage to post "no blacks allowed" at the entrance. At-least everyone would see your "true" colors, and not just the color of my skin.
It is unfortunate that a company so large cannot hire people who care about where they work.my wife was treated so rudely again by one of your cashiers at the royal oak Michigan store. the cashier,Niki, was asked to not toss the groceries into the bags my wife provided her,and she became even ruder. When she was finished rough housing her groceries while mouthing off at the same time, she walked off without finishing her order. My wife called a manager and she finished it for her but we wonder, are these people ever punished for their awful behavior? Didn't Fred Meijer say"our customers don't need us,we need them!? If the higher ups don't care about the customer, then certainly the average employee will not either.
i knew there was a reason i didn't shop at meijer. went there yesterday to buy school supplies, socks, underwear, t-shirts for my son. 1st line = oriental lady who couldn't speak a lick of english using WIC coupons with about 100.00 worth of stuff. 2nd line - a lady who "forgot one thing" and the kid let her leave the line for about 10 minutes to go find that one thing. i asked him why he couldn't ring us out since we were next and he laughed stating he was waiting on her. 3rd line - a foreign family with about 3 carts full of groceries. to sum it all up i left the cart sitting right in the line and left the store. WTF so not only do i go spend about an hour in the store i get laughed at and end up leaving all my stuff and going to walmart. i knew there was a reason now i remember. i will NEVER shop at meijer again. what happened to the time when people gave a sh*t about their job? this younger generation is a trip to say the least. i will call their corporate office on Monday, since their "guest services" desk was apparently in the same mood that day. just sorry.
I shopped at my local Meijer store in Richmond, In. about 3 times per week since it has open. Today I was in about 10:30 am and they still had signs up from prior week sale on Powerade for .69 cents. I put some in my cart but when I went to register she said I couldn't have it for sale price. I told her the sign and display is still up so she called back to someone in that dept. They said no. I then told her I didn't want it. I looked at my receipt and told her I only bought 2 canned cranberry sauces not 3. She over charged me. This happens all the time. As I was getting ready to leave, I went back, got the big yellow Powerade signs for .69 cents, and took them to her. I said; see they still have display and signs out. It is not my fault they cannot have their signs and displays down or moved within 10 hours. And I have noticed the rudeness of the clerks up front just standing together talking and it's not about work. One clerk today was singing with the music very loud. I mean come on, where is the professionalism with this store. Things have really changed there and I mean for the worse!
i think the people bitching on this page should be forced to deal with people just like themselves for 8 hours a day and see how happy they are. most of you just want something for nothing.....my favorite is the class action suit for a company that charges a retail price.....you are a fucking idiot....this is america, a free enterprise....if you dont like the prices...go shop somewhere else, but here's a nesflash, where ever you choose to shop, they will have a mark up on their stuff stuff too. Its called a profit, and its the only thing that allows a business to stay in business....DUMBASS!!!!
I shop at the Meijers in Beavercreek, Ohio on Colonel Glen Highway and I have been trying to get them to fix their water fountain (they only have one) for over a year! The water comes up only about one inch from the fountain and you would have to kiss the fountain to get a drink. On a hot day thats the first place I go when I enter the store. I have talked to customer service, the manager and they all say that it will be turned up but nothing ever gets done. You might as well take it out if your not going to fix it so people can get a drink. Another concern I have is that that store does not have enough small carts. It almost impossible to get one! Another concern is at the meat counter. I have seen 4 or 5 people standing there and no clerk in site. These people have more to do than wait on people so you need a buzzer to let them know that customers are waiting.
They suck really....I cant believe oh management treats there employees i will not go there again....Especially after one of the management yelled at one of the cashier in front of everyone
I filled out an application on Meijer website and they specifically ask you if you would like to be notified when your application has been received and again if you have been eliminated from the possibilities... Its been almost a month so I have figured out the answer but I think it is rediculous that you don't even have the courtesy to send an automated response to people that are interested in working for your company! Don't ask if you don't plan on following through!!!
One of Meijers core values is Familyness. I find this to only be true for the family's that don't work there. As an employee the meger hours and inconciderate working on Holidays is not family friendly.
