I think that Lowe's should spend more money on training their management team on how to be human beings and treat their employees and customers with respect. It seems a common thread all over the country that there are way too many managers that refuse to get their hands dirty, don't answer when called and yell at employees who are working hard and super short handed all over the store. For example, store 1041 Upland, Calif. As a customer of Lowe's for years, I have spent thousands of dollars and been in the store enough to witness behavior unbecoming to anyone, especially a manager who should set an example. A manager should be out on the floor helping the employees and customers if short handed. Instead they seem to walk around and point at things, call an already overloaded sales associate, talk down to them and humiliate them in front of us, the customer, and then disappear to their offices. They can't move a box, or straighten up a display? I have seen a manager yell at an employee for spending too much time with a customer and not getting something else finished. I know that I feel very uncomfortable for that person and turns my shopping experience into something I would rather avoid. I have shopped in many Lowe's stores, but the Upland store, my local store is burdened with a miserable upper management team and I use that word loosely. It seems that the upper management team at that store and apparently a lot of Lowe's stores attended the Lowe's- School of Management with classes in How do do as little as possible, How to be as rude as possible and collect as much of a bonus as possible. The head of Lowe's, Robert Niblock must be so proud. Lowe's spends enough money on sponsoring NASCAR'S Jimmie Johnson, but won't spend money on the most necessary commodity, Sales Associates or teaching his management team how to really manage. I guess you won't be seeing him on Undercover Boss anytime soon. As a customer I like receiving help if I need it. Usually I am ok on my own. But it is difficult to find help sometimes because of the lack of sales folks. Is isn't their fault the store and company runs on corporate greed and management bonuses. One day I was in the store and on an aisle alone needing some help. A manager walked passed me like I was part of the inventory. Couldn't he just stop a second and ask if I needed anything? Managers are extra bodies who should be available to customers. Furthermore, Lowe's could do with less management. I did a little checking and I feel that 7 or more upper level managers is overkill. Is that in all stores? Who has the final word when orders are dished out. Must be very confusing. Just how many managers does it take to run a store? What could they be doing all day if not helping out.? No wonder there isn't enough money left to hire Sales Associates to help customers. I hear too often, " I don't know, this isn't my department". Does that upset me? Yes, but anger is not directed at the sales person. I have worked retail, it is not easy, but I did work for management that got on their hands and knees to help stock, sweep whatever needed doing and as a manager myself, led by example. I do want to state that not all the managers at the Upland store need an overhaul. I have seen dept managers busting their behinds. But, those of you from the store manager on up need to take a good look at yourselves. Like what you see? What a shame. Kindness, accolades, a simple thankyou, understanding, all those qualities seem to have gone out the window. A lack of those creates low morale, lousy sales and unhappy customers. It is customers that keep Lowe's going and paying your salaries. A little appreciation goes a long way. I think it is time for management to step up and earn their keep. And it is a shame that starting with the Lowe's store manager and going up all the way to the corporate level, no one really cares what any of us have to say.
I purchased a new washer from lowes and what sold me was the salesman told me free next day Del. I was asked what time would I like delivery? I was told to pick am or afternoon. I picked am and took the next day off from work off so that i would be home. I also planned 2 other appts for later that day since I had to take a whole day off of work. Needless to say i was at home all morning waiting on lowes and when I finally got a hold of them( 11:00 ) they told me it would be del sometime between 1:00 and 2:00?????? Does that aound like am???? I wasted my whole day off and now Im barely gonna make my other appt and IM STILL NOT gonna get my washer today bc I wont be home unless I cancel my 2 other appts!! When I called for a manager they did NOT say that they were sorry or anything other than they were running late!!!!! I should have been called so that i could have gotten on with my very important time....
Went in to Lowes to purchase some plumbing and electrical. Out of stock on 8 out of 10 of the items I went in for..I went looking for some help and nobody was available.3 other customers were looking for some help also...Congradulations to Lowes on bringing themselves down to the Home Depot Level...I have been on hold to Lowes Corporate for one hour trying to let them know.....
My husband and I visited the Lowe's in N. Dartmouth, Ma recently. We inquired about replacement windows and were helped by Bill, Project Mgr. He was extremely knowledable and answered all our questions and showed us the window and explained it fully. He sent the sales rep to our home by the name of David Savoie. We was just great and gave us a quote as well as three other companies. After seeing the quality of the window, the price quote etc, we went with Lowe's. They were replaced on Tuesday. David popped in to see how the install was going as did Michelle and Robin. We were very pleased and received a call to be sure that we were happy with everything. We are very pleased with the service, the quality of the window, price and the follow-up calls. We will return to Lowe's for any other big jobs and will reccomend them to others. Thank you very much.
Your store in Conyers lost you a loyal customer today. I have a Kobalt Air Compressor that I have had for two months. Apparently it is a model that is not current but I bought it from this store. I will not run so I took it back to be replaced or repaired. After waiting for an hour with the cashier talking with the manager it was decided you would repair it but I would be responsible for the cost. The deck I was going to make this winter and the billiards room I was going to finish now go to Home Depot. I am buying a new Compressor from Sears tomorrow. I will not even look at Lowes in the future. The Kobalt name was suppose to compete with Craftsman. Sears never treated me like this. So Thanks Lowes. You made it easier to decide where to look for my project work. Rick Biever Former Customer
I'm currently in the process of having a small house built with features that complement senior citizen use since I am currently 85 years old and thought I know the construction business, I really can't do anything myself. I have been buying quite a bit of material at Lowe's store #2789 in San Antonio, Texas. Recently I bought 11 wooden blinds for the house and paid Lowe's $959.89 in advance (this is the only way they do business) for material and installation costs. I know its bad business to pay everything weeks in advance but you assume these stores are big enough to go the extra mile to satisfy their customers especially when they initiate a contract that is subject to Chapter 27 of the Texas Property Code. The blinds were installed wrong in that one didnot match the color of others. Lowe's management adamantly argued that the blinds were installed correctly even thought colors don't match and as such refused to do anything about it. Home Depot, here I come.
My father and I want you to know that we are very pleased with the quality of service Lowe’s provided. My father had this bright idea of remodeling his 30+ year old kitchen. Neither of us knew how much work and coordination was involved. We sincerely appreciate your responsiveness and the way you conduct business. Family and friends have come to see the finished product and wanted to know who did the job. Lowe’s services were awesome. Our sales specialist was Cindy Garcia. She is not only knowledgeable but we could tell how much she enjoys her work. She made our remodeling painless as possible and we always knew what to expect. I would recommend Cindy to any and everyone. The manager was very courteous to us as we were paying for our purchases (young black gentleman). Customer service called on a regular basis to insure we were satisfied with the job. The two ladies who called me rendered invaluable assistance. They followed-up in a timely fashion to insure each project was completed (e.g., cabinets installed or appliances installed). Again we will recommend Lowe’s to others because of our satisfaction with your service. We look forward to doing business with you for years to come.
Purchased a refrigerator and spent hours trying to register the Extended Protection Plan. finally called corporate headquarters only to be told someone would call within one day. . . . Called customer services and recording stated call sould not be completed when I pushed 3 for customer service. Delivery was also messed up and caused great frustration and time missed from work.
I purchased a gift card online on November 3 for a birthday on November 8. It was never received but my account was charged and I received the bill. I spoke to Devon exhaustively last week and the information was given to another department who called and stated the gift card would be sent out that day. One week later the gift card has not arrived and I cannot get through by telephone to follow up on this matter. Furthermore, I am advising everyone I know of this matter and will contact the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office in North Carolina.
Advertise Insulation with rebate that they DO NOT carry in ANY STORE. THIS PROMO IS A FRAUD. Advertised on the Web and Radio (over and over and over again) Called several stores that were rude and wouldn't honor the promo. Home Depot is bad but Lowes is worse, way worse !!!
We purchased new carpet the men came to install it. They broke my daughters bunk bed in 3 spots. We told Lowes they said they would replace bed. That was fine but when I got a phone call from Installers son on Saturday asking what his father broke and made it very clear he knew where we lived and then continued to call and harass me saying his dad isn't getting paid because we accused him of breaking something. I am not please with Lowes I makes me NEVER want to shop there again and to tell everyone not to either because they hire off the street contractors that CAN NOT be trusted. I'm scared for my life as well as my kids. I'm a stay at home mom and I'm here alone for 21 days a month. I'm to the point where I'm even scared to order a pizza let alone leave my curtains open. Who does Lowes hire? Not contractors with good references. I am scared these people will come over and start harassing me. If he has his family calling me why wouldn't he come over and do the same. This is all Lowes fault how unsafe I feel. I shouldn't have to feel like this in my own home. I am upset with everything. And I call and tell Lowes what happens and the man says "David" I will call him and tell him not to contact you. Well that's not enough I don't feel safe in my own home. Why would Lowes hire people that would pull a stunt like this? These contractors are NOT people with good references or 5star ratings. What if I had them install Locks on my doors? It makes me wonder if they would keep a Key? Lowes is BAD in my book now and now I want more information on these contractors. Their office, their home phone numbers their address where their kids rooms are where my room is how many locks I have on my doors. If they know ALL of my information I should know theirs. This is Bull. I will prob end up taking this to the papers along with email some news stations. I'm sure the public would like to know what kind of people Lowe's hires to do their contracting work.!contact me anytime. Seeing as your contractors do. Christy Galich. The Lowes in Denton TX has my information on file. SO feel free to call me any time. Seeing as your Contractors do. I am GREATLY disappointing with this whole grave situation.
Someone stole my license and did a return about 3 times and now they won't let return or exchange a net I bought for $9.99 without receipt. I own a pool company and my staff bought alot of stuff and they tend to lost their receipt. Lowe's make it so hard to return anything without receipt after 3 or more times return without receipt. I love HOME DEPOT because manager can override that 3 times or more return policy. I called the refund admin. 866-327-7053 and she told me she can't do anything. As to date, I purchased over $35,000 with HOME DEPOT for over 9 months period.
IN YOUR LOWES STORE IN VORHEES NEW JERSEY THERE IS A CLERK NAMED "STEPHEN" WHO I DON'T KNOW THE LAST NAME BUT IT IS IRISH LIKE MAC*** OR MC***...HE IS BY FAR THE MOST COOPERATIVE, HELPFUL, MANNERLY AND FRIENDLY CLERK I HAVE HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO DEAL WITH IN A LONG LONG TIME...HE USED TO WORK IN THE PAINT DEPARTMENT AND THEN IN THE TOOL DEPARTMENT AND NOW I GUESS IT IS THE DEPT. WHERE THERE ARE BULBS, ETC...IN EACH DEPARTMENT I USUALLY ASK FOR HIM AND GET FABULOUS RESULTS BOTH IN KNOWLEDGE AND SUGGESTIONS...HE AT NUMEROUS TIMES HAS OFFER BETTER SUGGESTIONS THAN WHAT I HAD IN MIND...MY SON RUNS A SMALL GENERAL CONTRACTING COMPANY AND WHEN I MENTIONED STEVE TO HIM HE SAID HE ALSO LOOKS FOR STEPHEN WHEN HE GOES IN YOUR STORE AND STOPPED GOING TO HOME DEPOT AND SWITCHED TO LOWES BECAUSE OF STEPHEN...AS A RETIREE FROM IBM I KNOW THE VALUE OF THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYEE ESPECIALLY IN THESE CURRENT ECONOMIC TIMES...I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS FOR STEPHEN BUT AS AN EX MANAGEMENT PERSON I WOULD CERTAINLY ATTEMPT TO STEER STEPHEN INTO A MANAGEMENT TYPE POSITION...
I needed to return less than $100 of items that I had purchased for a project, and mind you I had spent like $3000 on this project at Lowes. Okay, me bad, I lost my receipt, I could pull up and did on the internet my purchase dates and the amounts etc.. for proof I did pay for them on my charge card. But my charge card does not itemize the items. So I asked simply for store credit. No go, they said no receipt no refund. I pointed to their return policy for store credit with no receipt and they pointed that it says customer *may* receive store credit, so they refused even after I showed them $3,000 worth of receipts! I asked for the Store Manager, he was not available (he's never available) and I got the operations manager, again I shows receipts and had about $100 of stuff to return and only wanted store credit. He said well we can pull you up in the computer by name and phone number but thats all I can do, if you bought them here you will be in the computer. So they looked nada, nothing, shows I havent purchased a thing from them after spending $3,000 in the last 90 days. This is a rip-off place to go shopping... I am calling corporate headquarters but the store operations manager told me it would do no good, the store has the last word on what they take back! THIS IS AS LOUSY AND DISHONEST AS IT GETS FOLKS. AND ITS GOING TO COST LOWES BIG TIME BECAUSE HOME DEPOT TREATS ME VERY WELL, LOWES TREATED ME LIKE DIRT, NASTY, UNCOOPERATIVE, SAID NO RECORD IN COMPUTER AFTER CHARGING $3,000 THERE! GO FIGURE!
Went to the Dubuque Ia store last night to look at a new shower, the displays were filthy dirty and it was difficult to even try to look at the shower doors. We then went to the kitchen cabinet area, once again we were amazed at how dirty things were. You could actually write your names in the dust inside of the cabinets. I couldn't wait to get out of the store. It seemed like we were in a big warehouse instead of being in a store, don't plan on going back.
It is ashame we have companies like Lowe's still lingering around. Worse service I have ever received and they have lost me as a customer. This last week I spent over 10,000 dollars there and when I went to return an item that was un-opened I was treat very bad. First off I am a Disable American (Fighting Seabee)Veteran. I asked for a refund on the item and some punk kid said this item does not scan so we do not carry it. I took out the receipt and I told the punk idiot to call his plumbing section and have him verify the item. 1/2 hour later he call the plumbing department and the kid showed up and verified my story and store receipt. Then he said I can not give you your money you'll HAVE TO TAKE A CREDIT CARD.I said on demand you have to pay me in the same form as I paid. I said to the manager and the idiot David that I wanted a check sent to my address after their required two weeks waiting period. The manager said,"Why not the card, you are in here all the time anyway". I told the manager the correct tense was I used to be here all the time. Now I left the item had them sign for it and I am in the process of taking Lowe's to small claims. You say that will cost more but I do not care and I also reported them to the BBB and I am done with a company that one does not respect its Veterans, two:will not respect customer loyalty and three: keeps hiring kids and will not train them!
On Monday, November 15, 2010, I purchased a chandelier from the Lowe’s on Woodruff Road in Greenville, South Carolina and was very disappointed in the customer service that I received. The product was the last of its kind on the shelf and the box containing the product was very beat up and open. When I arrived at the check-out, I asked the cashier, Betty, if I could get a discount because of the condition of the box. After conferring with her manager, she told me point blank that “no, I was not entitled to a discount” and she repeated to me what her manager said, “we’re not selling the box, we’re selling the product.” The manager had a valid point; the chandelier looks great hanging in a room of my house, but in this day and age when customer spending habits are very discriminating I would think that customer service would ascend to a higher level. Betty, the cashier, could have conveyed to me a more professional way and tone that no discount was available and by no means should she have repeated to me what her manager had said to her. I’ve been a longtime customer of Lowe’s, but going forward I would seriously consider whether to give my hard earned money to a store where clearly my feelings don’t matter.
The way your corperation handled the Apple Valley store closer was sick!no warnings you just tell your employees that they will be fired"if they dont show up sunday!right after church"you guys in my eys are not a very thoughtfull company at all!O and im shure you did not have to pay the their christmass turkey money "you reap what you so!one day every one of you will be looking for work also!when sombody lays you off your job that you think is not going any where!
Lowe's in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Visited today and two employees walked past me without even asking me if I needed assistance. This happens all the time and other customers have the same criticism. I walked out the store and went Ace Hardware. That's where the employees ask if a customer needs assistance
Recently purchased 6 ton of pellets at Lowes in Ri when I went back to pick the last ton up they had sold them to another customer and did not have any more. The salesperson did get some what of an attitude with me as I questioned how this could happen... I also am not sure how of you have customer making and paying for such a purchase that you can go and resell the merchandise.. Just a bit unhappy being that the pellets are my heat source...
