I have been a huge fan of Lane Bryant for over 14 years. However, something has just changed in the past months. The whole look of Lane Bryant has changed - it is awful! Whenever I needed anything - that is the 1st place I have always gone. Either for work, fun or a function. They always had the cutest clothes and I always received compliments from people - even guys! I am so sad to know the look has changed. I have not been able to find anything in your store. It now has the look and quality of avenue or fashion bug - cheap ugly unflattering clothes! PLEASE bring back the old Lane Bryant!!!
The server on this site won't let me post the whole email thread here, but basically...I have rarely bought anything that hasn't fallen apart in some shape or form from Lane Bryant in a long time. I wrote to complain & here is the last part of the dialogue. I'm so fed up with them at this point. 01/05/2010: Dear Kay, Thank you for your response. I apologize for not being able to respond sooner. I was traveling to see family over the holidays, hence the delay. While it seems Lane Bryant is concerned about taking some form of action to rectify the situation, it falls flat with me. Some things to consider: If you shop at Lane Bryant yourself, you'd understand that a very simple work wardrobe can cost anywhere from $200.00 - $500.00. That's 4 pairs of pants, 4 shirts, a sweater, a bra & some underwear. When I shop at Lane Bryant, it's once per season - because it's very cost prohibitive to shop there. These clothes should last more than a few months. In a lot of cases, they don't even make it a week before they start coming apart. When that happens, I either take them to a tailor, or I sew them back together myself. You are asking me to mail you the offending clothing items for your Quality Assurance team to examine? Do you understand that would entail mailing my ENTIRE wardrobe to you? What do you suggest I wear in the interim? Do you think I should run over to Lane Bryant this weekend and purchase a temporary wardrobe to tide me over until your Quality Assurance team has performed the appropriate examinations and determined to either A.) return my clothes B.) send me a gift card so that I can purchase more inferior clothing or C.) receive replacements (exact replicas of the same shoddy apparel that I had problems with in the first place?) If my email was comprehended in the way that I had hoped, Lane Bryant corporate would have seen it...and in a perfect world, they would make an effort to stop selling very badly made clothes at ridiculous prices. I have spent $200.00 on one item in the plus sized section at Macy's and have gotten $200.00 worth of apparel...so it's not so much the prices, it's what I GET for what I'm PAYING. On the other hand, I have purchased a shirt at Ross for $10.00 and wore it for years before it was retired. I think the issue with Lane Bryant is: cheap, shoddy construction + cheap materials + a high price tag= profit for Lane Bryant & headaches for their customers. I have no intention of mailing all of my clothing to you. If this were a class action lawsuit, it might be worth my while. But to be inconvenienced even more by Lane Bryant than I already have been just to comply with some silly, half-hearted attempt at customer service? It's not worth my time. I know you're just doing your job, and it's not your fault...all I can say is, please kick this complaint up the food chain, because someone/s in the Lane Bryant corporate structure must be responsible for the crap that they're selling to consumers, and it's probably not you. This is a company that doesn't stand behind their product, will not take responsibility for poor quality, and the phone customer service is worthless. I called regarding under garments I had purchased, washed before wearing, and they had a hole in them. I feel the quality is very poor, I have been wearing their caique line for several years, and never had an issue with any of my purchases. Now that I have an issue, no one is willing to assist in resolving the issue that has occurred. Basically my lesson learned is Lane Bryant great when you spend your money and the product is good quality, however the moment there is an issue you are S.O.L. Watch out for phone customer service representatives Dudley(do little), Jeanie(very disrespectful), and Joan(man voice) they'll be disrespectful and offer no customer service!
I made a purchase at the Lane Bryant located at 3700 Rivertown Parkway, Grandville Michigan 49418...The evening of 12/28/2010 at 6:18 pm. I purchased 2 pairs of jeans to which I was told are exactly alike for which that is how I wanted it. I tried on a a pair of lane Bryant Fit Right Jeggings, priced at 49.50 with an in-store sale of 50% off. After trying on just one pair of the jeans stated, I asked them to hold it at the counter for I wanted to purchase the said jeans, but wanted to continue shopping for something else for I had a dollar amount remaining on my gift card. I found nothing to my desire, so I went up to the counter, told the clerk that I wanted to purchase the jeans they were hold there for me as well as another pair of the same brand, color, style and price. The clerk perceeded to go out onto the floor to retrieve another pair for me, came back and stated that there were no more of the jean I had at the counter and wanted to purchase out on the floor. The clerk then stated she will go in the back room to see if they had anymore of the kind I wanted. She came back from the backroom with a pair of jeans stating that they were the same exact jean that matches the one I had at the counter. She also said they were the exact jean in style, size but not in color. The first/original pair of jeans I had in my possession were priced at $49.50. When the clerk came back out and stated that they were the exact style jean in size but not in color for the ones I had were a solid dark color and the ones she brought me were just discolored slightly, but the exact jean, I was underthe assumption that the price was the exact price as the pair I had in my possession. I arrived home and took my jeans out of the bag but was disappointed at finding that they were not exactly alike, first in the color and then the big disappointment was the pricing...The second pair the clerk brought out to me cost more..the pricing was $54.50..not $49.50. The clerk failed to tell me that the prices of both jeans was not exact as she stated everything was exact. She failed to inform me that the prices differed. I was disappointed that I had to pay more for a jean that had the same pocket stitching, same size, same style but different color and pricing. I would appreciate it very much if this can be corrected and how I go about getting what I expected upon purchasing your merchandise. If this cannot be corrected I fear i will go elsewhere to purchase any merchandise. I shop at Lane Bryant for my Bra purchases and never had problems. I would greatly appreciate any help you might send my way....Thank You....Joy Cepeda... Joy Cepeda 7405 Walnut Avenue Jenison, Michigan 49428 616-457-2633
Incident: My bill total of $24.54 was due 12/5/10. I waited until 12/6 to pay it in full so I could get away from my husband to buy him a Christmas gift. When my bill came Friday, they had added back the $24.54 as a late fee. I called their Customer Service phone number (1-800-888-4163) and suggested an error had been made on my account. Michael (wouldn't give me his last name) told me it was a late fee and was not a mistake. That constitutes a 100% late fee. Since when are companies allowed to do that? Bad enough was the fact that the sales clerks had serious attitude problems when I was in there - fighting amongst themselves - who knows - who cares!!! - but now this. I'm going to close my account. They won't miss one customer. You know, possibly that's why the store in Countryside Mall here in Clearwater, Florida is closing. Word gets around ....
I am wrighting today in hopes this may reach someone of importance! I wanted to say im a 42 yr old career minded woman. i have shopped at lane bryant for so many years, i live near the Hagerstown md area.in WV and i am just in awe of why the comapny made the decision to close the hagerstown md location store. if any marketing was done it would be known there are NO other plus size clothing stores for career women. the next store is an hour away, not convient at all. this area has many many pluss size women who really rely on this store product! very sad for this decision.... and also to add its olny competer in that mall was fashion bug witch was ok for casual play clothes.. is also closing so im just not sure i can understand the method the madnsss... Im asuming is all in the $$$ numbers. but i hope some day you will bring this store back!!!
I have tried to resolved a credit card bill with Lane Bryant, no luck. I think when a person has been out of work and has had surgery they would rather kick em while they are down, then to help give them a hand up. They have charged my wife's card $74 dollars in late fees and 39.46 for interest in 2010. That is a $113.48 in interest and late fees. Their interest alone is 24.99% With less than half of our income coming in over the last four months I had hope that they would rather work out a settlement. I have made calls top their corporate office, I have been told someone would get back with me and no one has gotten back with me, I acknowledged responsibility in willing to work out a settlment but their is onnly so far that I am willing to allow myself to be taken advantage of.
I recently went into your Tampa Plaza store in Northridge CA on Nordoff st. Your Sales Person "Tatiana Barron" was a sweetheart! I have not been in one of your stores in 20 to 25 years. The first time I ever went into your store, I was greeted by a sales person who's first words out of her mouth was, we do not carry anything your size. I was so upset by the way she approached me, that I just turned around and walked out the store. (I thought to myself, I am not giving my hard earn money to a store that has that kind of attitude. I am a size 6 or 8, but I do have family members and friends who are a size 14 to 26. (This happen at christmas time 20 some odd years ago. Recently my daughter bought me a bra online from your store. It did not fit, so I wanted to exchange it. This was the second time I have ever been in one of your stores in 50 years. Your sales person Tatiana Barron made all the difference in the world. She was very helpful in every way possible. I spent almost 2 hours in your store trying on every bra possible. My problem was that I needed a size 36 DD or 36DDD, but you barely carry that size at all in your Tampa Plaza store. So I tried on the 38DD bra's (alot) and found one that fit ok. It was a even exchange for the one my daughter had purchased. Tatiana did offer to order a bra for me on line or call another store to see if they carried what I wanted, but my husband was ready to go home after almost 2 hours and I do not like ordering on line, I like to try it on in the store and purchase it that day and were it that day. I am hoping you will carry more of the size 36 DD or 36DDD. I love your bra's, better than Victoria Secret! I need to change out all my bra's now, because I have to cup up on size I discovered thanks to Tatiana. She really knows her merchandise and her customers! Thank you for the pleasant experience because of her!!!
To Charles, The clothes on the forms in the store are usually a 14. Lane Bryant goes to a size 28. The only reason you would of been told to order on line was if the clothing you wanted to buy was sold out in the store in the size you wanted. Again 14-28 is the size range in the store. If a shirt/pant is sold out you are given the option to order on line. By reading this it seems you needed a size larger than the store carried.
I recently (November 28, 2010) went into the Lane Bryant at the Westfield Mall in Milford, CT. I wanted to purchase a gift card for someone for Christmas. The only gift cards available said "Happy Holidays" As I do not celebrate "happy holidays" I asked the clerk if there was a gift card that said "Merry Christmas" She said "NO" only happy holidays. Well, if you want me to do "CHRISTMAS" shopping in Lane Bryant perhaps you should stop being politically correct and acknowledge the day that many many customers are shopping for. (and helping to make you a lot of money) Apparently, you like making money off "Christmas" but will not acknowledge the name of the day. Before you accuse me of bigotry, I also think that you should have a gift card that says "Happy Chanakah"
I am a first time customer for Lane Bryant and not pleased with my experience. I bought 5 pairs of underwear from them, since my friend had recommended them. I got home and the first pair I tried on had a large hole near the lace trim. I live 60 miles away from the store and so I contacted Lane Bryant customer service to see what could be done. I was told to take my receipt back to the store and I would get a refund AFTER I had explained how far away I lived and it was a defect in THEIR product anyway. My husband and I had a similar experience with a pair of his work gloves...the seam had not held through the first time of wear. That company handled it correctly, in my opinion. They sent us a shipping label, had us return the defective pair of gloves and sent us a brand new pair, no questions asked, even though we had purchased them at a LOCAL store. And on top of everything, I got an arrogant customer service rep, Matt B. All in all, I am NOT pleased, whatsoever, with my fist experience with Lane Bryant and will not be back since they couldn't do anything for me.
I've been a customer of Lane Bryant for nearly as long as they've been in business, and for the most part have always been a satisfied customer. Recently, however, I shopped at Oak Court Mall in Memphis, bought several items, but was surprised when I got home to find that one of my items (which I had paid for) was left out of my bag. Probably a simple mistake. BUT, I've tried repeatedly over the last 3 days to reach the store at the number printed on my receipt without success. Apparently at that store, no one answers the phone. Also, a phone message left at the corporate office has not been returned. At the moment, I'm out some $35.00. Will try working through my credit card company (also Lane Bryant), but after all these years of being a satisfied customer, this recent experience has left me very dissatisfied. Lane Bryant: For a start, it's a really bad idea not to answer your phones in your stores!
I just work like to know how your store gets away with working people though thier lunch breaks and working them off the clock two or three to put up stock and how a manger tells other staff to be mean to the new hires. all of this is being done in the pigeon forge store and helen is the magt and this is being done to all the new hires. and the old people are woking of the clock and tryed to get the new ones to do it and at less one said no I dont know if the other's did or not. I think that store need something done about your employee there. because the new one are quitting as fast as they get hire.
Lane Bryant is off my list for good. Rude employees on a consistent basis, and now they are adding argumentative to it. I went into the Northridge, California store this past weekend (and was not greeted nor asked at any time if I required any assistance). When I went to the counter with my items the clerk asked the typical questin "will you be using your Lane Bryant card?", no I was not, "do you have a Lane Bryant card?", no I do not, "would you like one?", no thank you I prefer to use cash or my debit card, "did you know you will receive a discount on this purchase if you apply for one now?", yes and no thank you I do not wish to apply for a Lane Bryant card. Now at that point it should have been pretty darn clear that no was no. She then proceeded to say "why would you not apply for a card if you can get a discount?". No thank you I said, I do not wish to have my credit pinged with an inquiry nor do I wish to have another credit card. That still was not good enough for her and she asked again, as if I was possibly deaf. My look must have finally told her to stop so she said "well you know Corporat makes us be persistant and try to shove our credit cards down customeer's throats". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I am a corporate trainer and am appalled at the training these employees receive. She is very lucky I was not a secret shopper or she and the rest of the staff from that store would have been relieved of their employment right then and there.
My wife and I went to Lane Bryant in Mt. Olive NJ. Her Dad passed and we needed an outfit, quickly, for the funeral. I will have you know, that all the nice outfits that were on display, were all small sizes and we were told if she wanted it in her size , she would have to purchase it online!!!!!This is a full figure store, but only displays small sizes? What Kind of store is this? My wife was already extremely upset over the loss of her father, and when you do not fit in smaller sizes and time is against you, you go into a full figure store, only to find small sizes???? That is just plain wrong!!!
I had the most wonderful experience while shopping at Lane Bryant located at the Westshore Mall in Tampa. I had to find an outfit for an event that was scheduled within a couple of hours. I was greeted immediately by one of the associates that wasn't very helpful. I am a faithful and commited shopper at that location so I decided to continue shopping and ignore the poor customer service of the first associate. I was glad I waited. Shortly after I was assisted by three of the most committed and faithful associates at Lane Bryant. Stephanie and Kim provided exceptional customer service. Not only did they help find the perfect outfit for the occassion, but they even took the time to stream the wrinkles from the garments also. I did not get her name of one of them, but I wanted to thank her for participating in this wonderful experience. I would like to thank the three of them for going the extra mile unlike the first associate.
I will never shop at lane bryant again!!!!! The Manager (Deb) was on the phone!! I asked her can someone else help me! What did i ask her that for? She became upset!! Another salesperson began to ring me up, I then ask the sales person for the Manger name of the store! Then Deb turns around and rolls her eyes and say I am the Manager. I then ask her who was her boss because I would like to speak to her boss! She became even more upset and tell me to get out the store and tell the security guard to throw me out!!!!! All because I want someone else to help me with my purchase because she had me waiting why she was on the phone!!! As i was walking out she told me in front on everybody in the store How if she was not on the clock she would KICK MY A**!!!!! As much as i love lane bryant i'll never shop here ever again 129 north wabash!!!!!
I love Lane Bryant. I have always been treated well and have found what i want when i need something.
I purchased a pair of clogs for an invent I will be attending 9-18-10. When the clogs arrived at the store I picked them up but was on my way out of town. When I looked at the clog they looked as if they had been worn. I took them back and reordered them and they were sent to me overnight. Today they arrived and would you believe the second pair was in worse shape then the first pair. I called and there is no way they would be able to get me the clogs by tomorrow, I was offered %30 off and a %10 coupon on my next order. I don't understand how I keep getting these worn shoes? Are the cloths that I buy worn as well. I have to have the clogs for Saturday so I took the %30 off. Now I'm going to my shoe repair guy to have them fixed. I would like to speak to someone about this matter
My friend & I went 2 the Lane Bryant in Virginia Center Commons @ 10101 Brook Road, Glen Allen on last week, a location we had never shopped @ b4, I received the worst customer service we ever received from the store. Now I know why no one was shopping there. The manager was standing there talking very unprofessionally w/her cashier, who's hair she was braiding, when they asked if I needed help finding anything. I asked if they carried my particular size in a certain style bra & the manager pointed in a general direction. She did finally let us in the dressing rooms after she was finished braiding her cashier's hair, but never came 2 check on us. They also still had the Buy 2 Get 2 signs hanging in the store & would not honor the sale. My friend & I ended up taking our business else where.
