Based on my personal experience, if you have alternative choice, don't sign up with LA fitness in Hamden, CT. If you have to sign up, make sure you do not pay month by month, pay cash every month. Once the pre-payment is in their pocket, it is literally impossible to get it refund!!! Be very cautious and be very leery!
FIRST OF ALL YOUR PEOPLE DOESNT HAVE A CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY ARE ONLY NICE TO YOU WHEN YOU FIRST SIGN UP AFTER THAT THEY DONT KNOW YOU ANYMORE. THE OTHER THING IS EVEN IF YOU CANCELLED YOU MEMBERSHIP THEY WILL STILL CONTINUE TO CHARGE YOU, WHICH IS VERY FRUSTRATING! I WOULD LIKE TO MENTION SOME NAMES LIKE CAMERON (HE'S THE OPERATIONS MANAGER) AND HE IS VERY VERY VERY VERY RUDE! I CANT BELIEVE YOU GUYS WOULD LET SOMEONE MANAGE THEY GYM WITH SOMEONE LIKE HIM, I ASKED HIM WHY I GOT CHARGED EVEN THOUGH MY MEMBERSHIP IS ALREADY CANCELLED AND THE ONLY THING HE SAID TO ME IS TO STOP BY BECAUSE HE WAS BUSY AND COULDNT HELP ME OVER THE PHONE????!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!! SO PEOPLE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY WITH THIS PEOPLE PLSSS!!!!!!!!
After having several problems with billing from the first day of signing, LA Fitness charged 2 different bank accounts at 2 different banks over $1100.00. I first brought this to their attention around the 7th of October and asked that they correct the issue. It is now the 27th of October, I now have 2 bank accounts that are severely over drawn as a result of being OVER CHARGED FOR 3 PAYMENTS TAKEN FROM BOTH ACCOUNTS. The facilities are wonderful, however the staff at the Puyallup, WA location are incompetent and I now have to file police reports for theft and complaints with both the Better Business Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce.
While I am in general pleased with the classes at LA Fitness Mt. Laurel, there are a few things that are making members feel like second class. I went to my 5:45am spin class and the stereo, which is extremely old, did not work. This has been a common theme in other classes. It takes a lot to spin at 5:45am! Also many of our spin bikes are broken. The Cherry Hill, NJ club has gotten new bike, but the Mt. Laurel club has been ignored. The club is becoming outdated and needs tv's on workout equipement, new stero equipment, and new bikes. LA Fitness please make an investment in your members.
I am asking each of you to please write a letter stating your complaints to Mr. Jim Donovan at CBS 3 news in Philadelphia. He is an awesome consumer reporter who recently went after Target in a huge scam story. He is a great person and has a lot of guts, the corporate monsters don't scare him. Our local and state police have been contacted in Pennsylvania about the issues and laws that are being broken at our club. I am asking all of you to help add to our ammo and help take down this horrible company ! I signed up for a memebership with LA Fitness and was happy about the membership however I was talked into doing a personal trainer which I had explained I had no time for..I was told try it and if you dont wanna do it then all I had to do was notify them 30 days before my paymrnt was due. I did this and was then told that I had to buy out my contract. I advised them I never signed a contract. they then said I did and I have been trying ever sincw to prove that they never disclosed this information to me. nor did I ever get any paperwork stating this. I love my membership but the personal training side of things is a joke!! I will fight this and take it all the way to court...I have several people who were with me the day I signed u that can state that I never agreed to any contract for the personal training.
Was working in PA for the summer, (im a college student) so I joined LA, mainly for their facility and they had punching bags (other local gyms didn't). Welllll you can't use the punching bags because they hold classes all hours of the day in the only room with all the bags! That's just the tip.... they offer a free 10 day trial for like 10 or 12 friends (called VIP guests) when you sign up. tried to use that with 1 friend, got the paperwork run around on 4 separate visits, and then they told him we know you've been in here a few times so your pass is up. Yea 4 days is not 10 days, and it's 10 running days which is understandable but still, we only went 4 days in a row.... They kicked him out because he refused to pay 15 bucks a visit or get a membership. Then he received 3 separate phone calls from different employees (because he was a VIP on my list) trying to get him in the gym to do the trial lol! that was unreal... and finally, i canceled my membership at the gym with a sales rep who canceled it on the computer and handed me a sheet. I said, ok so I'm good now, everythings done and I wont be charged further past this month? he said yes your good to go....apparently good to go meant I had to mail in a sheet of paper to corporate to actually cancel the membership, so I've been charged for the two months i thought were canceled, and one of the months was counted as my "first/last months" setup fee that I was charged at the beginning anyway! i knew after all the run arounds and bs i read online, in forums like this, that i was going to be dealing with this shit, never signing up with this awful company ever again, take your money somewhere else, OR get charged for bs after you cancel...
I have been ripped off at the Mira Mesa LA Fitness twice now and the staff has been completely uninterested in trying to provide any assistance.....My locker was broken into...the lock being "broken"....I reported it to the front staff only to be completely ignored and walked away ... called to report it and was hung up on after asking questions about who was the boss....Do not go here...you will be ripped off...Heater Court Location
The security conditions at LA Fitness at Sunset Place in Miami, Florida are completely unacceptable. On Wednesday October 6, 2010 I went from work to the health Center for a workout. It was approximately 6:00 PM when I arrived and as I prepared to leave about 7:00 PM realized that my locker had been broken open with my heavy duty lock intact. I assume that with some sort of tool that forced the door open. Inside was my Rolex Submariner watch, my gold chain, cash and most important my wedding band, all of which were stolen. As I went to the front desk to report this and request a Police Officer, I realized that the Police was already there because someone else had also been robbed. When I told the Police Officer what had happened, he said that happens there continuously. I filed a report with City of South Miami Case# 1003399 Officer Morejon. My total losses exceed $10,000. You as a business owner have a responsibility to ensure some level of safety in your establishment. I can understand something like this happening once in a while but not continuously. Your customers deserve the knowledge that they are safe in your establishments, and that you are providing them with some minimum level of protection. This robbery did not happen at an odd hour. It happened in the middle of your busiest time of the day. And your staff and the Officer tell me that this is happening all the time but that management is unwilling to spend money to ensure the safety of their customers, and that is really sad to hear. After almost ten years with LA fitness, I am considering moving to a gym where there is more consideration for its members.

I have a membership at the west Chester la fitness in Ohio and I am canceling! The gm there is very rude and mean. Not only that but he dissregards all members complaints. As long as this man is working at la fitness I will not be coming back!
Do not sign up for personal training, they rip you off and continue to take your money unauthorized and you cant get it back.
I HAVE BEEN GOIND TO LA FITNEES FOR THREE YEARS NOW IN DOWNEY, AND SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN ROBBED. TWICE THEY HAVE BROKEN INTO MY LOCKER, AND TWICE IN MY VEHICLE. THIS GYM IS THE WORST, THEY HAVE CAMMERAS THAT DONT RECORED THEY HAVE PEOPLE STANDING AROUND JUST TALKING WHEN THEY NEED TO BE PAYING ATTENTION TO WANTS GOING INSIDE THE GYM AND IN THE PARKING LOT AND INSIDE THE LOCKERS.FOR THE MONEY WE PAY TO USE THE GYM WE SHOULD FEEL SAFE AND NOT WORRY ABOUT GETTING ROBBED INSIDE NOR OUTSIDE IN THE PARKING LOT.THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. AND ALSO THE POOL IS VERY DIRTY IT LOOKS LIKE THEY NEVER CLEAN IT,THEIR NEVER HOT WATER,AND THE IQUIPMENT IS VERY DIRTY AS WELL.
I cancelled my membership months ago and just found out today that they have been taking the monthly dues out of my account. Just out of the blue the money started coming out again. Im calling them now! We will see if they make this right!
I HATE this place! I go to the one in Pasadena, CA and it's a joke! The machines are old and broken and there is a "trainer" who is probably going to be slapped with a sexual harassment case any day now! If he hasn't already. What is corporate thinking?! CLEAN UP YOUR SH*T!
when you are tired of any company taking money off your credit card, bank account , ect.without your permission or consent. All you have to do is to cancel that card out and ask for another one to be sent to you and that way they want have your new card #number and they cant bill your old card for anything cause its no longer link to your account. When you are dealing with crooks you have to be a step in front of them and much more smarter then them to beat them at their on game let me say to beat the crooks at L.A Fitness at their own game
My husband and I joined LA Fitness a while back and enjoyed the club quality however when it came to canceling our memberships, its been a nightmare. In August, we both went to the club and requested cancelation, the attendant at the front desk requested our cards numbers and email addresses and entered data into her PC. She then provided us a cancelation sheet to mail to their corporate office. WE completed all this and as of today, October 18 my checking account is being debited for both memberships. We have relocated overseas in an other country, LA Fitness provides no email customer service and I need all payments stopped. I suppoe I'll have to mail a complaint from Asia to get this cleared - what a bother! It's wrong that they can sign you up in seconds but take months to cancel membership!
Hi every one my name is MRS Kidd i had my experience with L.A Fitness 10-14-10 when one of the top manager call me at my home about my son account at L.A Fitness. Early before that we received a call from Bank of America , me and his father also to inform us that some one from L.A Fitness had attempted several times to take $98.00 dollars from out of his account. i then inform the young man that my son is high school student and that his father and i would be the one he needed to talk to about the account ,he then went on to say to me in a rude way that he tried to take out $98.00 dollars out of my son father account for the remaining money that owed on the account at L.A Fitness. I then ask him what $98.00 dollars are you talking about he then tells me that my son William Kidd didn't pay all the money for the membership and i told him that's not true because the young man told him on the day he sign up that the only thing he needed was $60.00 dollars and that every month they will be charging him $30.00 dollars after and i also said if that wasn't the truth that he lied to my son and us and he misled us and that's not fair to us at all he then went on to say that he would cancel the account since we don't want to pay the $98.00 and that we want be getting the $60.00 dollars back either so became more rude as the conversation went on i then call another L.A fitness to get corporate office on my cell phone the whole time he was on my home phone laughing ,whishpering and humming like nothing wasn't going to happen like it didn't so i think we need to come to gather to file a law suit against them due to all the wrong that they are doing to peoples and I would be the first to give you information to contact me cause i have already talk to and lawyer about this problem with L.A Fitness so you can contact me at towanna.kidd@yahoo.com that's my email address please contact me look forward to talking to you
I was charged monthly for "trainer" services that I was not happy with. Honestly when I was sold the package they made me think I was going to have one trainer that sold me the package and he personally was going to get me better. What I found out was that I had to work with many different trainers on their schedules and had to reteach them my strengths and weaknesses. Most giving few reps and setting me on an hour long cardio by myself with no interaction with trainer? Trainers are not there to work for others just there to work out free for themselves and go home is what I saw mostly. Well I decided to end my contract and take my business elsewhere and cancelled membership. One year later I find out that my "kidsclub" membership had not been cancelled and still being deducted from my checking acct. I was getting these "we want you back" emails the whole time and never thought that they would continue to charge but they did. When I called they could only look to reimburse for 6months and not the whole thing. Honestly that is not right that they steal money like this. It is there fault for not looking at my account when I initially cancelled because she no longer has a membership. Seems logical right? Guess not that logical to them.
The employees at the LA Fitness center at La Habra are good people. They are there to help when they can. They have so much on their plate in that building. Mo is a good man and helps with issues. The rest of the staff are good people.
