L.A. Fitness doesn't deserve any star. They are fruad. I have been getting charges from them monthly which we don't know what for. Contacted them and Spoke to someone at local L.a. Fitness and she said she will take care of it. Never called me back. I called her 5 times but she hasn't called me back yet. It has been 3 months plus. Credit card company can't help me since I have nothing in writing with them.
Dear Sir: This post concerns Ft. Lauderdale LA Fitness facility. For the past three months, I and other members have been requesting new basketballs to replace those delaminating, and worn so badly that they are barely serviceable. We continually get the same tired response that it has been ordered from corporate. Several weeks agowe were informed that corporate sent women's basketballs in error. Now the nets are fraying, I shudder to think how long it will take them to get around replacing them. Two weeks ago I attempted to speak to the manager, waiting patiently at his desk for him to finish his phone call, which he momentarily interrupted to rudely inform me that he was on a corporate conference call. Inspite of all the complaints we still have no decent basketballs. I suggested that they take some money out of petty cash and go to the nearest store, whic is a short walk away, a pick up some balls. The response, shrugged shoulders.
I felt like I was buying a used car from a sleazy salesman. My online account NEVER worked because the sleazy salesman never put in the information correctly. When I got the sales pitch from the trainer manager, he said he'd fix it, and claims he did but since I chose not to pay the additional money to get one of those trainers--who are about as interested in helping you as someone who gets paid whether or not you're happy with the service--the manager didn't fix the account. The staff isn't interested in you once they have your money and won't help unless they get more. Canceling the account is brutal! Put a stop payment on it from your credit card and they will come to you. That's the fastest way to deal with them.
I've walked out for the second time from the Naples FL location because of the pushy, insulting sales pitch. Before my second walk out, there was a guy walking out and they followed him out and asked him to come back for a tour. I called today and conveyed my issue to the manager, who just supported the pushy sales pitch. I figure they lost 2 memberships in 15 minutes. I guess the company also supports this approach. Too bad.
This about the LA fitness in hamden, Ct. The staff is dishonest and do not stick to the terms and conditions that are made when you sign up. I was amazed how shameless the staff is when it comes to being fair about money transactions. As it stands right now, I have lost my money and LA fitness in Hamden is to blame for dishonesty and lack of credibility. Please avoid this gym, if possible
I joined LA fitness in Texas and went there for a few mth. I was advised by my doctor to stop gym as I was trying to get pregnant. I cancelled my membership with LA Fitness giving them this reason and they still charged me the fee. All they care about is the money and are a totally fraud organization. I would not recommend anybody to join this club.
What a garbage corporation! I went in to the Plainfield, IL. location and the lady behind the desk was not even acknowledging me (and there was no one else waiting). Then I told her I wanted information on joining and she ripped a piece of paper and gave me a pen that barely wrote to write my name down. Then an employee came and started to hard sell me. "Only today you get this and that..." Then right in front of me he burped so loud and said "oh, excuse me." I left. He called me a few days later and left a message to call him. I then returned his call and he wasn't there and the General Manager spoke to me. I asked for the corporate # and he refused to give it to me! Can you believe that? I tried looking online for the # and the 800 # they list doesn't even work. I own 3 companies and I have never seen such a garbage company.
When I signed up to LA Fitness they talked me in to signing for 3 years and I paid in full. I told the guy that I may be moving to Indiana and he said no problem if you're not in a certain radius of an LA Fitness we refund your unused portion. Well I need to go to Indiana to take care of my elderly Mother. They want a drivers license or an electric bill in my name. I said that I wouldn't have either because I don't know how long I will be and I will not have an address of my own. So they are refusing to reimburse me for my unused portion. This really sucks. The guy apparently just wanted his commission. I should have gotten it in writing.
My son worked for them and convinced me to sign up along with my daughter. They worked him 60 hours a week and refused to give him any weekends off - pay was terrible. They treated him poorly. Needless to say he quit after 4 months. In the mean time, I cancelled my contract and they are still billing me! I have spoken with the manager and he told me the accounts were closed. So I wasn't being billed. Was still being billed, called again and was told that I re-activated the account but they can't seem to provide me with any proof. Now I'm still being billed and the manager said they were checking into a credit for me and the accounts were cancelled (personally by him) and I wopuldn't be billed any more. They now keep sending me "Come back, we miss you" e-mails. AND I Just got my credit card statement which has been charged again!!! for BOTH accounts!! Called the manager and he is no longer there and there isn't a new manager yet....

The facility in Somerdale, NJ is pretty good BUT IT NEEDS RECYCLING BINS.
The club is ran very shoddy. The equipment is broken and doesn't get fixed. The paper towel dispensers are empty including in the ladies room and the operational manager is doing a poor job at keeping the place "operational".The worse part is that you can't get a hold of anyone in corporate to complain to. The local club must managers must be trained at not doing anything to help the members...I have found each and everyone of them to just push personal training sign ups...they don't care to address any issues. It is very frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!
I joined in June and told the guy that signed me up, paid in advance, that I may be moving. He said not a problem, that if I was not in a 30 or 50 mile radius that I would get a refund but would have to pay my sign up fee. Well I went today with my move estimate and the guy (Andrew in Torr) 'in charge' of this particular la fitness said that he couldn't do anything because I needed my new drivers license or a utility reciept. I explained that I would not have that until some time after my move and he said 'sorry', yeah right he was sorry. I'm going to take care of my 95 year old Mother, so I guess I wait for her to pass come back and maybe get some sessions in! I mean let's get real....I told the guy (David in Torr) when I signed up that I may have to be moving. So where's my reimbursemnt....David scammed me so he could get his commission. Very disappointed...I will call corporate again tomorrow. 12/2/10
I am dissapointed with la fitness in regards of locker break-ins,lansing,il. I asked an employee not naming any names about the break ins he told me if i was insecure to leave my stuff in my car, now why would i do that if i shower after a workout and i pay a monthly fee for at least a locker, i have been there since they opened now i am deciding to withdrawl my membership there.... the employees do not care but when they lose members lets see what they do when they are on the emploment lines like millions of americans....
The gym is brand new so happy with that aspect of it. Other than that, the place is a joke. The trainers are all out of shape and don't portray the image of a fitness club. The salespeople are clueless and are like brainwashed robots and cannot answer a legitimate question without a canned answer. The gym has been without hot water for 5 days. This is a health club, people get up in the morning before work to get a workout, take a shower and go to work so they can make money to pay these dopes at L.A. Fitness Corporation. As soon as the hot water was out, they should have had it fixed in one day instead of saying "we are waiting for a part to come in". Also, I signed up before the grand opening. I'm paying $35 per month and now in talking with some new members hear they are paying $30 a month. The dopey salesman says, we can't lower your rate. Why should I pay an extra $60 a year? I thought this place was going to be a success but it's just like every other gym, they get members in the door and then they stop thinking for themselves and forget how to run a business.
Very dissatisfied ... Trainer (KA) made un-welcome inappropriate sexual advances. Offered to "fix" my contract to where I would not have to pay anything, he said something about switching the names and credit card info .... This guy is obviously on steroids .... too aggressive! I will never go back to LA Fitness!!!
The LA Fitness gym that I use in Portland, OR is clean, not crowded & offers good classes at convenient times. I really like the pool & locker room, much cleaner than any club I have used in the past. I occasionally use another LA Fitness facility in Portland, and also go to the one in Lacey, WA when I am up that way. All of them are good facilities. I have had personal training with LA Fitness for the past 18 months and have been pleased overall. My only complaint is the turnover on the personal training staff. I have had excellent trainers all along, but am now working with my 5th one because the previous 4 have quit. Other than that, I can only say good things about this gym.
LA Fitnesss is a rip off I froze my acount they were only going to take 10 a month for everyone on the account they took all the money they were not allowed to when I spoke to the manager all I got was the running around and now I have 70 in over draft charges plus the money they took out they suck IM in Washington There in lacey galaxy dr
L.A. Fitness is one big scam.I was charged for 2 contracts of personal trening at the same time,more than 700$ a month.When i found out 3 month later ,i called them i was sure it was mistake of them,and they will refund the money.But i was told that signed 2 contracts with them for a year.All together that is 36 sessions of 30 min a month. In addition they charge me a monthly fee. I never saw any contract,I just signed in a tablet computer for 12 sessions with personal treiner and then 2 weeks later for upgrade(which is another 12 session but this time for 1 hour,with a better rate). Now i don't know how to fight it
Wow i thought i was the only one who had issue with this Co... What are you doing Corp office???? Seriously... On the issue of calling your personal trainer and no call back @ all really... You need to do better, since right now on a scale of 1-10 your @ 0.... Your customer service suck big time.... You guys need a wake up call....
