Everything is good, UNTILL!! You want to cancel...Then... they make you mail in a cancellation request. They want you to keep paying them, as long as possible..you would think that a company this large would want to do every possible to keep their reputation good, but, no way, they just want your money! The bottom line folks

my 18 yr old daughter got coned into signing a 1yr personal trainer contract even when i told them on the fist club membership sign up that she couldnt afford it and even worse she had medical problems stopping her from working out got several docters notes and still wont cancel contact watch out everybody this corporation is very bad they need to be investigated.

Are these clubs franchises or corporate owned? There are tremendous inconsistencies in terms of opening hours, there are no hours of operation posted in the club's door and they open (in Hemet, CA) at completely different hours every day!!! It supposed to be open at 5 AM M-F. Well, it open at 7 AM today 12/30. So I sat there until that time and then left. It has happened several times to me so I am thinking that it is not an isolated incident.

This company has poor customer service and is a scam to the person looking to use trainors to assist with their personal workout routine. The location in Camp Hill PA does not offer the level of service that a person pays for in a gym that cost me approximately $5000 for the year with personal trainors. I beleive that they need to close LA Fitness down and start a GYM that really cares about its customers.

When I signed up, I was not told that I could only use the Covington facility. I found out only weeks later after going to another club that this was the case. I talked to my customer rep and he said he would take care of the problem. After several meetings and excuses, no new club card yet. Will corporate do anything?

Doesn't even deserve a 1 star. I wish I would have read all of this before signing up for personal training. I was happier with my body before I started the training now. This is how bad their service is.

Having been a member of LA Fitness in Pembroke Pines, FL for several yers, I am reasonably satisfied with the facility; but then again I haven't ever gotten involved with their outsourced independent trainers or other 'extras". My "complaint" is that at 66 years of age, as I go to pick out a Medicare supplemental package, I was told about the Medicare "Silver Sneakers" program for senior citizens . . . and then I find out that LA Fitness does not participate in the program. It looks like I need to change my membership to a gym that subscribes to the program. It would seem that during a period of difficult economic times, when one of the first things that people are apt to cut out of thier budget is gym membership, that LA Fitness would capitalize on the Silver Sneakers program as a way to boost their lagging membership program. (Does LA Fitness corporate ever read these typees of postings?)

I was warned about L.A. Fitness. I was told that they are scam artists. I thought this person was being dramatic. When I went there, everyone was SO NICE. The person must have been wrong. Right off the bat, I got scammed for an extra two months of personal training fees, even though I had to stop going do to health reasons, but since I signed a contract, there was nothing I could do. But then they invented a new form of 'cancellation' that required you to send a letter to 'corporate'. The contract says you write a letter and give it to your local office within 20 days. That's what I did. So they charge me according to the contract, and then make up rules to charge me that weren't in the contract. Hmmm... I still go to this gym, not for training, and I have to say the upkeep is VERY DISGUSTING. The showers are not clean by ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION. THEY HAVE CURTAINS THAT HAVE A CLEAR VINYL STRIPE SHOWING YOUR WHOLE BODY RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CURTAIN. Why bother with the pretense of having curtains at all? Complained to manager. She couldn't care less. Lip service. That's what EVERY person there is like, I have noticed. All FAKE SMILES, and they're trying to get to it but never quite do. The worst part is: the general manager. She is absolutely a power-hungry monster. When there is even the smallest incident for her to show her authority, she jumps at the opportunity, no matter which members she humiliates or belittles or screams at. A few weeks ago she called the cops on a member who was having a bad hair day and didn't want to take a member picture that day. The cops. It was disgusting. This woman is certifiable, I have no idea what these people are thinking of having hired her. I have seen twenty people in one of my classes ALONE, come and go within two months. People who were so excited, like me, when they first started. They get the trainer, and they come every week a few times a week, they are pumped. And then they get to know the trainers, who are nice for the first few weeks, and then they can't be bothered to keep an appointment, but definitely charge you if you need to reschedule at the last minute, or if you're 5min late. They get to know the crazy manager, and the disgusting showers. The broken machines and the class instructors that have no business teaching any classes. And then they leave. And you hear the trainers talking about these people as quitters when you first join up. 'Yeah, some people just come, and after a few weeks they give up.' It doesn't occur to them that they leave because the whole place is a nightmare. They left--to find a better gym. As soon as I'm finished up for the year, I think I'll join them. I signed up for personal training at the Greenway rd, facility in Phoneix. I didn't understand the program and want to cancel it as it is too long of an committment. I signed up on the 14th, they called and said come back in we did the agreemnet wrong so I signed and new one on 12/17. I took a canclellation letter in the following monday 12/20 and the Director of Traing will not cancle saying it is too late. I want to continue there and will need a Personal Trainer eventually but I want this contract cancelled. Dean Chitwood

I am really tired of the harrassment I get at LA Fitness, from the old men who workout there, and if I go tell managment about this all they say is they will do something about it but they don't. Instead they all reunite on weekend nights when the gym is not that packed because they're bored, and they talk about it and laugh about it. Also I had to report the female janitor because she gets angry if she's cleaning and I have to use the restroom or take a shower, well what the hell? And all her manager told me is that he would take care of it but didn't pay much attention when I was telling him because he was joking around with his co workers. And to top it off they are so corrupted, I've heard from several people that the sale's manager lies and cheats to the customers to benefit himself, he also likes flirting with the ladies from there even though he found a mate there. There's also this buff guy who also works there his name is Peter he is a player it's been a few times that he's been seen having intercourse in the parking lot with one of his co workers, I forgot her name but she is short, ugly and old... all I know is that she's a salvadorean. Oh and don't even get me started on the skanky girls who work on the front desk. This gym is a mess.

I just walked into the new facility in Highland Park, IL as they were having a "Grand Opening" today. I only wanted to look around as I am very happy where I am now. I was given "the full court press" & told it was $30 a month to join but it was only a special for today. I do not like being pressured like this. I asked for a brochure & some other information. The women's locker room did not look very clean & the person I spoke to didn't even have a business card. I was told to look on the web site. I have a very bad vibe about this place. The Highland Park Recreation Center is a much better facility for the money.

LA Fitness tells you the "ONLY" way you can cancel your membership is for you to physically go into the gym and they will print off cancellation forms, which you will have to mail out yourself. I sent my cancellations forms almost 2 weeks prior to having them take out the monthly gym fees. I felt this gave them enough time to cancel at its entirety BUT that didn't happen. I was so aggravated with the run arounds. I finally was able to get names/emails/numbers of individuals at LA Fitness headquarters who can make sure your membership is cancelled. I do have to say "Orlando Gonzalez" was extremely professional and very cordial. He immediately reassured my memberships would be cancelled AND he would make sure I was reimbursed for the monthly fee they had just taken out. Here is the information: Orlando Gonzalez (949) 255-7277 orlandog@lafitness.com and Aylin Medina (pronounced Eileen) (949) 255-7330 aylinm@lafitness.com

For several weeks now I have been complaining to the "manager" of our club about the heating system. The cardio equipment is located upstairs directly under heat vents. Hot air blows on us whiling we are exercising and it is obnoxiously hot. Several other members have also complained about the same thing. Fast forward two months and the problem is still not fixed. I have attempted a call to the corporate headquarters and spoke with an Eva. She said she would call my club and then call me back. It's been three days and I'm still waiting . . . Very apathetic response to my complaints. Our club's operational manager seems disinterested and arrogant.

la-fitness is missing 50-75 members by not working a deal with capitol blue cross for ther program each month this money going some where else. WHY? this is the future. thanks jerry.

I trusted a trainer named John Urezike in training me and instead i was disrespected ignored, made a joke, extremely pressured, made fun of, called a liar, very embarrased. Not only by the trainer at Upland L.A Fitness in California, but also by the sales consultant Angel. They were bullies. Not only did they put me down, but they also put THEIR own Gym down(la fitness) when i would ask about the dance classes, John said that the classes would not help me lose weight only he can. That he wants to bet that i wont lose weight without a trainer. It was a waist of time and deeply upsetting. When i was asking to speak to a manager John lied and said he was the manager. Eventually i spoke to the manager EG over the phone and even he shocked me. I told him how uncomfortable i feel now going to the gym and he said that i can go to other gyms in the mean time.. i was shocked. than he said if i do come in the gym dont walk by the sales desk, walk on the other side... wow!!! i pay $30.00 a month and iam restricted on where to walk in the gym and plus embarrased and uncomfortable.. I now dont recomend anyone to LA fitness EVER

Just tried the corporate 800 number to lodge a complaint and it's no longer in use. Any ideas?

I am very upset by the shoddy upkeep of equipment - there always 4-5 treadmills not working and when I was in there this past Sat. there were 5-6 completely out of service and the rest either the TV didn't work at all, the sound didn't work or it was stuck on one channel. The keypads on the treadmills were not working properly. Also, when I went to take a shower the water was ice cold and there weren't even that many people in the gym. I was also bullied by one of the trainers, who was trying to sell me and my boyfriend on hiring a personal trainer. I was not asked any questions as to my physical level of activity or any health issues. I am physically active but had experienced a heart attack in the last year. He then handed me over to a female trainer who also did not ask ANY questions and proceeded to have me do intense leg exercises as the rate of 50 per set. I gave it my best shot and did leg presses until my legs literally gave out. I was intense pain for the next 3 days and was barely able to walk much less exercise. The next time I was in there I witnessed this female trainer work a young female so hard she threw up on the floor. My experience with LA Fitness trainers just proved to me that I NEVER want a personal trainer. I have never belonged to a gym before LA Fitness and now I know why. This place is a mess, overpriced, shoddy equipment, shoddy employees, poor upkeep, you name it. Just a major disappointment and a complete rip off.

The people at the front desk are complete jerks. There is a short bald guy in the front selling memberships who is especially rude. If he thinks you won't buy what he is selling, he gets very upset. Went there with a friend on trial pass to try the gym. At first he let us in but then became a complete asshole when my friend was showing me some exercises. Asked us to pay because my friend was training me at "his gym" and threatened to call the cops...When I called his bluff about calling the cops he backed down and asked us to leave. The gym itself is a shit hole....Equipment is old and things are breaking down. I would never go back there again....had a very bad experience

I wish I had checked out this website before I signed the paperwork. LA Fitness has been STEALING money from my account, I have been double billed for months. I keep getting the run around when I try to straighten this out, and was actually verbally abused by staff. I am such a victim I can't believe that this is actually happening to me. And I bet, that to get out of the contract of a place that has been stealing money from me, and where I have been verbally assaulted, I will have to pay for the "priviledge". Well...I will...because I can't believe how I have been treated. This is the worst carny scam I have ever seen. If there was a way to give ZERO stars, I would have done it.

I wish I could select a negative number of stars for rating LA Fitness. They are, by far, the worst company I have every dealt with, both in person and over the phone. Both the gym location and the corporate service reps are rude, unhelpful, mean and absolutely do not care about satisfying the customer. This company, from the top to the bottom, care only about getting your money. Once they have that, you mean nothing to them. I don't have the energy to get into the specifics of my situation, but all I say is AVOID LA FITNESS IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. There are plenty of great gyms out there that have all the equipment that LA Fitness does and they'll care about you after they have your money. DO NOT JOIN LA FITNESS! THEY ARE COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL AND ARE NOT WORTH A SINGLE PENNY OF YOUR MONEY!!!!
