Why doesn't a major corporation have a phone number for the consumer to call? I tried to make a complaint with my local club and am not happy with the answer. I asked for corporate's number and was told to speak to the corporate rep on Monday. Does anyone have the number to LA Fitness corporate?
I loved l.a. fitness, for the longest it used to be the best. I worked out at the camp creek location. and the spin class at camp creek was incredible even though the bikes constantly broke. once i was on the bike spinning when the pedal snapped completely off and I have recieved several minor injuries from spinning on the bike. management does not care, and only pieces the bike together. the instructors don't even have proper microphones in order to run the class. Ive gone to classes that were cancelled on the spot because the instructor refused to yell over the music. needless to say new management came in, fired all the instructors simply because they catered to their clients and put new boring(bidable) ones in place. i can no longer work out there. the classes are not fun, and the new instructors have very little experience in ensuring that you enjoy your work outs. sue, spellman, nakiba, jo, iolla, elaine, i miss you all so much.
I inquired about getting a trainer at LA Fitness to get back on track from being ill. I am a certified ISSA trainer myself and only needed some guidance and accountability without having to do the thinking. I was talked into 3 sessions per week as numbers were scribbled on a sheet of paper. Never was I told about the contract being one year long or was I told about the cancellation process. My first three sessions were a nightmare. The first one no one showed. the second one I was not in the schedule and the third was cancelled by the trainer. I attempted to cancel my contract within the first week but was told I was unable to do that and they would give me additional sessions on the back end at no charge. I have had aweful customer service since. I am now getting charged 15.00 per month to have a freeze on my account for the training sessions. I have attempted to call corporate but always get an invalid number message. This company does not run on integrity....it's a scam!!!! Do Not Use Their Services!!!
This is one of my worst expiriances that I ever had. I have been pushed to sign up for a personal trainer without explanation that I can cancel in 3 day. I have told Bryant that I would need to talk to my spouse to check. He offered me to call him, but I have told him that my husband is at work, he works at night and I cannot call him. I have sign up for a personal trainer under the impresion that I would be able to cancel if I am not satisfied with the service. So, on top of the monthy fee of $29.00 I a"deal" 3x a week with a personal trainier of $264.00. First, I have not been measured for 14 days because this expensive deal did not have a measuring tape. I kept asking and asking when its going to be done. Finally on the 25th I have been measured. Second, this trainer did not even tell me that he is going to be at this Dobson/Chandler gym only for the next two days. I have been tranfered to some other personal trainer that I had to fit to her schedule because she has a second job and does not fit with my schedule. I had to baunce with the other trainer when available. When I have asked to cancel they told me it needs to be in 50 miles from this current gym. I am moving to a different place from Chandler to Anthem that is more than 50 miles away. Today I just been told that there is a gym 15 miles away from my new zip code. It needs to be 25 miles away from the address. They keep makeing up differnt rulse all the time. Also, I have asked the front desk girl to make a copy of my new drivers license and she has been told by the manager that they don't copy machine. I know that they have made a copy of my old license when I was originally enrolling and it was not a problem. I would like to ask everyone who's not happy with this location in Chandler, Dobson/Warner to come out and reveal this on a TV so that everyone knows how they are dishonest with the people, just to get the money. If you need to cancel the regurla membership you need to mail it out some paper that they give you at the front desk and have a mail stamp pay by yourself. Now that I am going to cancel the regular $29.00 memebership they are not going to cancel the personal trainer. I used to be a member of Crunch Fitness and compared to Crunch, LA Fitness is WAY below par. The place is filthy. I have never seen a cleaning person there all day long and I have been there at all different times of the day during the week. Locker rooms are stuffy and stinky and sinks, toilets, drinking fountains and lockers are often broken for months(years). Restrooms smell very sewage-y and it's just dirty and rusty. At Crunch there were 2-3 people cleaning constantly and one women cleaned women's locker room and restroom continuously. I was never in there without her wiping, mopping, etc. Crunch had hair dryers, mouthwash with little cups, qtips,cotton balls,kleenex dispensers - LA fitness has NOTHING except paper towels and TP. I change at work and try NEVER to enter the locker rooms. Crunch cleaners were constantly cleaning the drinking fountains and equipment. LA fitness - never that I have seen. LA Fitness is so crowded I had to change my hours at work to 7-4 to get to a 4:30 class you could actually get in and you actually can get on some cardio at that time. Floor mats for the class room are wimpy, stinky and ripped. Floor mats in the rest of the gym are good but never enough room to get on them. I have asked for more free weights out in the gym area numerous times but my pleas are ignored. there are NEVER enough free weights, discs,steps, mats out there. There are usually enought in the class room if you are there by 4:30 pm. Many classes are instructed by people that are clueless and VERY lacking in real lifelong training. Sure they might have some little 20 hr certificate but I worry about older people and newbies and lack of instructions for safety. Overall - find somewhere else if you geographically possible can!
They tell you one thing and do something else. Their employee and spoke about the contract, I told them I would pay by check because I do not want anyone in my account due to previous theft from my account they said OK, this was for a one time usage. I noticed that I started to see other transactions, and calls to my cellular phone during work and weekends. I spoke with them several times about this it stopped for one day and then continued. Recently there was another transaction for $117.18 from my checking account which was unauthorized. I notified my bank about this now because this is the second one for the month and now wondering if I should notify the media so eveyone in the city should be aware of the fraudulent activities of the organization. I need my money back into my account just like they fraudulently took it out. I would not recommend the organization to anyone.
I should have checked this site before committing last year to memberships for my daughters and myself and also personal training for the girls. Now 1 year later I sent the form in to cancel the personal training for the girls and just as I expected they are claiming they didn't receive it in time. I am going to send another cancellation notice with a return receipt after delivery and the next time they hear from my it will be from my lawyer. Once you get beyond the glitter of the facility you will realize this is probably not the place to be.
I truly wish that they had a choice above for 1/2 a star, because I have just run into the very same issue that dhidris (above) did. I was told on three separate occasions by three different people who worked there that I was going to be able to terminate my training sessions in March of this year (2011). I called and spoke with someone who upon explaining my situation basically told me that it is in the contract that if you freeze your training memberships three times that it extends the contract. So, because of this, they expect me to pay almost 1,000 dollars to a) either get out of the contract or b) just pay it without getting any sessions (of which I would like to terminate due to scheduling and trainer issues). When I asked the ever so (not) helpful person on the phone what would happen if I ended my regular membership he told me that it is a separate contract and I would still be billed for training sessions (that I don't want). He also helpfully added that I would just continue to receive calls for the money I owed and that "some ownership of reading and understanding the contract" should have been made on my part. Rather than telling him what I really thought of his suggestion, I mentioned that three separate people, in person, told me that I would be able to terminate this month. I am seriously considering freezing them from accessing my bank account until some resolution is made. Apparently they do not care if you remain a member as long as you pay the fees.

I worked for LA Fitness in Kitchener, Ontario. I know what its like, they don't care about members or anyone in the place. It's all about money, getting the sales and that's about it. Even as an employee I was treated very poorly, and they even refused to pay me. For memberships, there are a lot of better gyms around, I work with goodlife fitness now, haven't had a problem yet. Stay away from LA Fitness.
INDIANAPOLIS LA FITNESS SUCKS!!!!! YOU CAN NEVER GET ANYONE TO SAY THEY ARE A MANAGER. NO ONE. YOU CANNOT REACH BY PHONE OR ANY TIME OF DAY. SO IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES THERE IS NO ONE TO EVER SOLVE THEM. THEY DONT EVEN KNOW THEIR OWN POSTED RULES, I.E. NO CELL PHONES IN THE LOCKER ROOM. BEEN A MEMBER SINCE DAY 1. HATE IT HATE HATE IT AS SOON AS THEIR IS ANOTHER GYM BUILT NEARBY I WILL LEAVE AND I WILL ALSO TELL EVERYONE I KNOW NOT TO GO THERE. THE PLACE IS FILTY SOMETIMES WITH NO PAPER TOWELS. MOST DAYS THERE ARE AT LEAST 10 MACHINES IN THE PLACE THAT HAVE OUT OF ORDER SIGNS. THIS IS THE SOUTHPORT LA FITNESS.......IF SOMEONE IS A MANAGER THERE..WOULD YOU PLEASE STAND UP. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM
First let me start with the GM steve thompson, he is absolutely the WORST, his attitude leaves something to be desired and not by humans, he sucks, he thinks he can run everything and everyone, none of the employee like him they all want to and have threatned to QUIT, he talks bad about the last GM openly, he disrespects the employee in front of us members, extremely unprofessional, the employees look very unhappy especially the sales folk, I like most of the front desk people PLEASE STOP CHANGING THEM< TRY AND KEEP THE ONES THERE, I love Pam i think thats her name she is awesome great personality and Lea she too awesome, I had the displeasure of speaking with steve he was rude short distracted and he holds meeting when we are there trying to sign up, Douglasville already has a bad rap with car breakins, pool unavailable alot,kids klub no cubbys for kids, bathroom lights out, other wise thats ok my kids love it. But steve thompson needs some sensativity training and how to talk to his employees and member training, why dont you just REPLACE HIM. sincerely unhappy but not leaving cause it's close surly you can fix these things easily by getting rid of steve
Your district manager Lance Yates, needs behavorial management control, before LA Fitnes gets sued BIG TIME! Not only will I not endorse LA Fitness, But it won't be long before Chapter 11 comes along!
Don't even get me started on the awful experience that is LA Fitness. I am so livid but feel I must put my story to tell others and hope they never join this terrible gym. I went to cancel my membership in October 2010 because the people at the Kids Klub treated me terribly. My daughter (10 months old at the time) always needs a few minutes of screaming when I drop her off -- babysitter, daycare, etc... and then she is fine. I told them this. I dropped her off, went to change into my workout clothes, and within 5 minutes they were telling me I needed to get her. They made me mail in forms to cancel, which the office mysteriously never received. They also claimed that the computer system never showed that I had those forms printed out. I finally got the membership canceled on February 11, 2011 and received the proper cancellation emails. On February 14, 2011, my credit card was charged $54 which is $14 more than my normal membership would have been including the kids klub. I was also charged THREE $34 insufficient fund fees from my bank since the balance didn't have that much in there. I'm now fighting with them to get the money refunded which they have told me 3 times they would do. They still have yet to do this a MONTH later! I am so livid. I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau and anywhere else I can. This gym is a ripoff and should be shut down!
This is about your facility at 7640 W. Thomas Rd., PHOENIX, AZ 85033. I have been a member for many years and mainly use the pool because I am a swimmer. The pool maintenance is unacceptable for the following reasons: Apparently, the pool heater needs replacement, and more often than not I cannot use the pool because it is too cold or too hot for workouts. This problem has been ongoing over many years, and staff seems to tell a different story to appease the customer every time. The pool itself is filthy and needs a good regular cleaning and sterilization (the pool bottom has brown streaks along the lanes on the pool floor, the pool edges/deck are grimey and one can find the occasional chewing gum stuck into the grout. The mats that have recently put around the deck walking area cannot seem to be kept in place and could cause someone to trip. The pH balance does not seem to be maintained at an acceptable level (yesterday the pool looked like dirty dishwashing water and literally smelled foul). The Jacuzzi was literally green and was roped off. The ladies' shower rooms leave to be desired in terms of cleanliness, and the ladies' changing rooms have long needed complete revamping, e.g. broken locker doors, broken electric outlets, etc. The carpeting leading into the changing rooms smelled awful, but lately this has subsided since they turned up the A/C higher - I suppose to subdue the smell? These carpets are filthy and a health hazard and need to be replaced! Occasionally, this facility has a manager on board that will listen to complaints and try to do the best they can with what they apparently have to work with (not a lot of money or cooperation from 'above'?), but the communication to the front desk seems to be zero or the clerk is lying. They tend to claim they are not aware or don't know what is going on, etc. I hope you will be making an effort to get to the bottom of these problems and keep your bottom line down the road in mind as you address these problems in a speedy fashion. I am sure many people cancel their membership because of these unaddressed conditions. I trust you will look into this matter and do your utmost to bring this facility up to acceptable health and hygiene standards very soon. Saint Lucie West La Fitness are very very rude and I called to see about cancelling my account and they asked why and I told them my husband would like to join me and we can't afford to pay another 40.00 and she said let me have the manager call you back never did and I have called on 4 different occasions never to be called back so guess what now I am filling out the paper work to cancel after being a member for nearly 2 years and paying for 2 years and maybe have gone 18 times! There loss!
$350 to UPGRADE to a multiclub plan...are you kidding me??? I wasn't able to upgrade my single club family plan to a multiclub plan. Originally I was told when I signed up I could upgrade, no problem. There was no mechanism in the LAF computer (contract) for my account to upgrade and multiple 'notes' to&from different clubs to corporate returned 'unable to do anything' Only way to upgrade was to cancel membership and re-sign up. This meant sacrificing the last months dues ($65) with an extra months payment because it takes a month to process cancellation (+$65) Pay the sign-up fee ($99) and pay a new first and last months dues for two people ($29.99 times 4 = $120). Upgrade = $350. Outright criminal if you ask me, The sales person lied to get the sale, and from my experience, corporate blames everything on local personel and the turn-over is outrageous...but that's a different problem.
Lousy cancellation policy even if done as they wish. You need a printer, computer, stamps and have to do it within 24 hours. Horrible, will be telling other not to join this chain of clubs. As I see, others feel the same.
i was lied to. I came with money to purchase a membership and when i asked to tour and workout before the purchase, the young punk Zach at the Covington WA desk told me that impossible. So i called the Covington Washington La Fitness and asked to speak to a supervisor about how disrespected i was and they put me on the phone, with guess who? Zach. He once again told me he couldn't help and i asked for a manager. Zach said he was the manager and hung up on me.
