I wish I had read these reviews before signing up! Unfortunately I had not and as a result I was ripped off as well! These people are crooks! They will literally lie to your face about the terms and conditions just to get you to sign up. I asked the question about if I should cancel my membership would I be refunded. At the time, the answer was yes. After following what I thought to be the right procedures, and following up, all of a sudden I find out that it was "not policy." So either the sales people that they have working are clueless or the shadiness starts at the top... I think it's both! To make matters worse, I was hit on by the sales rep (that should have been my first red flag to run) This has been a horrible experience... I hope you all don't/didn't make the same mistake as I did...

Fontana L A Fitness there is an African American who has set up a barber shop in the mens locker room. Is this legal? Should I send A picture to the corporate HDQ, I wounder if the health dept would have somthing to say about this.does this guy have A lic. maybe I should talk to the lic board.Somthing Is really wrong with this picture.Would the manager stop him when I camplained. NO But the asst manager said it up to the manager that he makes the rules.Wow Maybe he can give me a free membership. Well stay tune he will prob be there this sat morn if you would like a hair cut. I have been a member of LA Fitness for 2 years. I have been inside the place TWICE. Not for any other reason in that my situation dictated it. Shortly after signing up with the Ballard, WA LA Fitness (I only signed up to use their pool at home) I was transferred to a different military base. I am now 97 miles from the closest LA Fitness. I immediately explained my situation and they said that was fine and that they were VERY accomidating to the military. I just had to fax the corporate office stating that I wanted to cancel my membership. I send in a fax and think all is set. A short time later I lose my wallet and had to cancel the credit cards. A few months go by and I get a collection letter stating that I owed money to LA Fitness. I was of course furious. So I call back and they state they never recieved the fax. How convenient. I was NOT allowed to send in another fax because my account was past due now. So in order to cancel the account I had to pay my past due amount and then send in another fax. This time I was pissed, but more wise to the situation. I not only printed the letter on Navy letterhead BUT I faxed it from the JAG's office along with my deployment orders. Figured that would catch their attention. Nope. 13 months later I come back from Afghanistan and I have been charged 65 dollars a month for every month I was in Afghanistan. 845 dollars down the drain. And guess what? When I called just now...yup...cant cancel my membership until I pay this months AND SEND IN ANOTHER DAMNED FAX! bullsh!T

I have been a member of LA Fitness here in Oregon since 2006. I have used the facilities a total of under 50 times—embarrassingly enough. in December 2010, i put my single membership account on hold or "Freeze Membership" as they designate it. i did this because i knew i would not be using the facilities for a few months. Having one's account frozen also brings the monthly charge down to $10 a month, until you go back in and unfreeze your account. Knowing this in advance, i walked into my nearby LA Fitness and asked the gentleman behind the counter to freeze my account until further notice. i gave him my membership card, he swiped it in front of me, made the changes via computer right in front of me, and said "you're all set Mr. x, your account is now frozen, but kwon that the lower freeze price will not take effect until the next month." "Great and thanks!" i said, thinking nothing of anything but a successful transaction. it was clear, concise, and took but couple minutes. There was no ambiguity, vague questions exchanged. In checking my financial statements, I noticed this April that I have been getting charged the full amount. I immediately called the LA Fitness down the road—the same location I had activated the membership freeze. The first person i spoke to said, “sir, we have no record or indication whatsoever that you requested your account to be frozen. When you requested that your account be put on freeze, did you request that a confirmation be e-mailed to you?" i said no, why should i have to request confirmation on any such transaction? She replied: "Since it has been several months, we can’t help you.” I called back rather frustrated, but polite and composed. I spoke to another gal that had obviously been advised by the last person I talked to; I could tell by the tone and direction of the conversation—same answer. I requested politely, to have a manager contact me. And she confirmed that she would: “yes, I’ll have a manager contact you Mr. x” Of course I haven’t heard from anyone at LA Fitness. So what does this tell me? Two separate instances where I was told by LA Fitness employees that something was done or would be done and neither were. Shame on me for: 1. Not keeping tabs on my checking account to see how much they were charging every month 2. Not getting the names in both instances of the employees I interacted with 3. Not closing my account sooner, as I am about to. I do find it odd how on this website, how many users are rather disappointed, sporting a low star rating. Could it all be biased and untrue, at an attempt for the competition to make LA Fitness look bad? Perhaps, but I know for one, what you’re reading here is exact, honest and clear. Watch your banking statements for LA Fitness always, especially if you put your account on freeze!

If you deal with LA Fitness you had better record every conversation. Lying is the corporate motto and their only way to do business. If the salesman or managers mouth is moving they are lying. They have deducted unauthorized fees for almost a year and every time I talk to them they say it is resolved and there will be no more fees. They also refuse to credit my credit card for those unauthorized fees. This company does not care about customer service or their reputation. These idiots took 1200 dollars out of my acount 4 days ago there was supposed to one transaction of $200 but they decided to put it through 6 times and now they wont return my calls or put the money back in my account. These are the most un profesional people i have everdealt with in my entire life. Do not sign up here one way or another you will get SCREWED

I do feel that physical fitness is important. But i would never ever recommend this place . They are about to build another one on Old national great so they can continue to rob people . But i could cut and paste at least 5 of the reviews that i have read so far just on page 1. The person Joe at camp creek who signed me up at a high school health fair straight lied and then called me a liar. He never informed me of the 10 day trail. the children's area is not suitable for my child also the steam room is not clean looking ,it is not at all inviting, La fitness and banks must have a scam going because I called my bank to stop payment and they told me i couldn't. can you believe it. I am so upset . I have just paid over 100 for one bad day at a gym.The womens bathroom lockers look good but did not feel or smell clean.Not at all happy with la Fitness poor customer service. Never ever sign up for anything on the spot. please please do your research. we must stop these companies from ripping us off especially la fitness .

I joined LA Fitness in Lansing, IL in 2009. The gym had decent equipment at the time but I later noticed that machines would be down for prolonged periods of time before any repairs were made. Considering the fact that LA Fitness is the most expensive health club on the market, you would think that a towel would be included with the price but that's an additional charge. The staff must be trained at the Goodwill because they can't answer simple customer service questions. Anytime a member can't contact a customer service representative directly should always be a RED FLAG!!! Oh, and I failed to mention that I cancelled my membership and have not received my refund for the last payment that was deducted from my account. Maybe I should file a claim or perhaps we should file a class action based on the negative reviews that have been submitted.

Avoid LA fitness in Southfield, Mi.. My car was broken into in there parking lot and when i asked them what will they do since i was a member at their gym and it was on their property.. they said they didnt have cameras and did replace any property stolen.. FUCK LA FITNESS..

ask to see background checks on their trainers before you let them near your kids....

this company is a scam and would not recommend anyone sign on the dotted line! they will take your money but you have to jump through hoops to cancel any contracts. this company lacks compassion and is not looking out for your best interest!

I worked for this gym for a whole year. I cannot begin to tell you of all the shady practices and unruly conduct that goes in that company. My fitness manager is renown for groping female clients when working with them, clients are screwed out of money and are unable to take recourse to get there fee's reimbursed. Its terrible. Do not apply for or sign up for this gym!

I am a college student and wanted a gym to attend for the summer time, since LA Fitness was right around the corner it was a great deal. When I signed a contract for the summer session, I asked for a personal trainer for the 3 months since I am a girl and really do not know the in's and out of a gym. This was granted for me and since the scanners were down I could not recieve my copy of the contract and will be mailed the following day. This item was never recieved, I was very un happy with the gym, the trainer cared more about looking at my ass and breast rather then help work me out. When i cancled my membership everything was fine but now almost 5 months later i'm getting money removed from my account. What the hell....LA Fitness I will see you in court. :)

LA Fitness is a complete RIPOFF!! I signed up for personal training and had to cancel my membership due to a move across the country. They would not cancel my training contract and I had to finish payment of $150 for the next 4 months. The manager of the LA Fitness training said that if I chose to rejoin those sessions would be available to me for use in the future. I've just found out that after the contract is up, any unused session simply disappear. DISHONEST, DISHONEST, DISHONEST! LA Fitness will NEVER see my business again. EVER. I've never seen a company try to take advantage of it's customers in the way that LA Fitness has. If you're considering getting a membership here -- DO NOT DO IT. I WILL be posting this message to Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites.

I am a member of the gymn in Bonita Springs Florida since it opened -I bought "the least expensive membership " pre opening--this was a joke as memberships have been much less. The gymn is very dirty and I have complained many times. I just returned from my sunday am workout--the mirrors are covered with hand prints equipment scattered every where--patrons work out with out towels and never clean the machines--staff does not care when I complain-It always needs to be vacumned--this gymn should be cleaned at the end of each day--staff are hanging out and in 4 years I have never seen any trainer pick up anything--I received 1 week guest passes when joining --each time I have a guest-they are given a hard time and after much discussion by me only allowed one day on a week pass. This gymn is poorly managed--not sure by who and staff does not care--

Lance Yates, the Vice President of the Cerritos club, is the biggest jerk I have ever met. What a pompous you know what. Very abrasive. Not a great place for women.

The location I frequent is in Dunwoody GA, a relatively upscale neighborhood. My car was stolen from their parking lot last weekend, and the staff didn't do a thing about it. They were very apathetic and acted as though it was no big deal-- as if it was a regular occurence and that I shouldn't be surprised. This company has significantly reduced their standards, and it's a shame. The clientele that they've allowed in is despicable; it's obvious that most of them are not members. When I commented on this change in quality of their weekend visitors, they nonchalantly told me that they know it's a problem but that there's nothing they can do. BULLSHIT. It's called applying the rules, getting authorities involved when necessary, and closely monitoring people who come in and slide their swipe card and those who don't. Today I found out that someone used my swipe card to get into the gym last Monday morning around 11:45. Interestingly enough, it wasn't me. I only work out at this location on the weekends. Clearly the attendant working on Monday morning wasn't paying attention to the picture that pops up on their computer screen. If they had been paying attention, they would have realized that the person swiping my card wasn't me! I would not recommend this gym to anyone. It's going downhill fast, and all they're worried about is signing on and taking advantage of new members. Pay the extra money and join a quality gym!

The LA Fitness in Kent,WA is always running out of soap/sanitizer and paper towels in the bathrooms/locker rooms and gym. You tell the staff that there is no soap or towels and they just laugh and say " a shipment is coming in" how can you run out of soap and paper towels???? You go to the bathroom and then can't wash your hands so then you touch all the equipment and there is no hand sanitizer to use and you can't even wipe down the machines! Why do they even have staff working there? All they do is stand around talking and flirting with each other or talking on their cell phones. This is a major health hazard.
