My best friend works out at la fitness and wanted to me join said that they has some family deal at Dobson in Chandler. she said she got signed up by this man named griffin that was very cool and really worked with her. Well, we planned on seeing him after our work there front staff chick with short black hair was VERY RUDE told me i had to pay a day pass after me telling her im looking into getting a memebership i want to work out first i did not have my ID she asked. My friend stepped in and said look i just singed up with griffin he told me i could bring a friend. Then she asked me well, do you have his pass. I did not know i had to bring a pass if he told me that i asked to speak to him she said he was busy with someone if i wanted to get in i would have to pay $ 15.00 I DO NOT THINK SO... my friend asked her name She said her name so rude "My name is christina" Then we left.. This girl is so rude she should be working up at the front desk...If she was sales I would not sign up with this girl..
Facility at Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA New Management is not as friendly and personable as previous managements and front desk clerks. Also, cleanliness leaves much to be desired - caked on scum on tiles in hot tub - even after I have told them about it quite a few times. Equipment that is broken is not being replaced - spinning unit for wet swim suits, scale in women's locker room. Also pool is way to cold at times! Some people have left and are going elsewhere, I am seriously considering leaving, if my complaint does not produce improvement. Sincerely, Doris M. McCleary
tried to enter the gym with my bike.baron edgar said to leave it in the doorway.this is after taking my bike inside the gym for over a year.
Wow pretty alarming that there are so many complaints dating back a few years and nothing is being done about it.
This company cares only about taking your money. I was misled into thinking the gym was no-commitment. Personal training is a year long contract....which they did not tell me at all when I signed up. I have gone through hours of calling customer service- they are incredibly rude. Do not waste your time with this company and tell everyone you know that they are dishonest and do not care about customers. I have had trainers get my phone number from my file to "hang out sometime" (gross) and I have heard rude comments from the staff about other members. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Dear LA Fitness Corporate Office, Just looking at some of the comments on your website indicate serious problems with your facilities and personnel. I have been a long time member of the LA Fitness in Encinitas, CA. I joined the facility to use the racquetball courts, swimming pool, and especially the jacuzzi. I have poor circulation in my legs and feet, and the only way I can endure my workouts is a nice, long soak in the spa. About 8 weeks ago, they closed the spa down for maintenance. It was reopened a couple of weeks later, but the jets are about half the power they were when I first joined. Seriously, I can get more stimulation by kicking my feet in my own bathtub. I have spoken to the Facility Manager, Kaylynn, several times, only to be put off week after week with the same pitiful excuses: we're working on it, need parts, timer is broken. It has now been nine weeks and absolutely nothing has been done about it. I planned on suspending my membership, until the spa is repaired correctly, but after reading how people have been treated and had attached penalties on their accounts, I am seriously thinking of quitting any LA Fitness and go somewhere like the YMCA or other facility nearby. There are several of my friends and many others who I have spoken to about the spa repair. They want to get a petition together. I'm sure it is on the way. Lastly, do you guys even respond to these complaints? Is there anybody there? Do you care?
I would like to let you know about an incident June 1, 2011. I came into the location on 48th St. and Chandler Blvd in Ahwatukee, AZ as I needed to cancel a member from my account. One of the employees told me that I would need to see Roc, the general manager, who is the only person who can cancel a membership. "OK," I said as I waited patiently for 20 minutes before I was helped. Finally, Roc approached me, I told him I would like to cancel a membership for my girlfriend. He had a real hard time understanding what that meant, and in the middle of me explaining again that I needed to remove a membership off of my account, He interrupted me to call over a female member who was walking by his desk. "Hey sexy, he says, I like it sweaty, next time you come in, come say hello to me." She looked very displeased and walked away. He then looks at me and says, "I love my job." To me, that was very appalling and disgusting. Not only are there children that walk within this club that don't need to hear things like that, but I highly doubt anyone would come in and expect this type of treatment from a General Manager at your establishment. Roc was very unprofessional, disrespectful, and he still could not get my membership cancelled. I had to call a different location to get it figured out, and not only did I cancel my girlfriends' membership, but I also cancelled my own. I have been a member of LA Fitness for over 5 years, and I could not be unhappier with my experience at this location.

I have been a member of LA Fitness for 8 years now. Recently there were issues with my bank and LA Fitness not being able to bill. I didnt quite understand what was goin on since my other bills got paid. I was billed 4 times in one month stating I needed to "make up" for what was missed. I was also charged $5 for each transaction. When I called the operations manager to my local club she was as rude as they come. I was quite furious with the extra charges and her lack of empathy and rude tone sent me through the roof! Needless to say, I got it straightened out with their payment system and everything but the way I was treated made me cancel my membership. I will not deal with rude people and allow them to take my money monthly. There is also no repreccusions for This. I cannot find a way to get a hold of anyone from corporate.
my wife has been a member about 2 years now,so far so good.our niece and nephew came to visit over easter vacation and my wife took them with a free member pas they give you.well she was told they coudnt be let in witthout joining as a guest which i could cancel after a monthfor 50.00 dollars .i still dont know why they couldnt use the guest pass but she joined them anyway .any way one month later i get a bill for my wifes membership 50.00 dollars and a 158.00 bill for them.i go back and qustion them about it and they tell me there is nothing they can do tuff luck!!so for others just beware of anything they tell you as it is not true dont join!!
I wish I can give less that one star.. The only reason why I go to la fitness is because of how close it is to my house.. other than that.. i would NOT go here. I decided to get my parents a 30th anniversary present and get into shape and sign them up for la fitness. I signed them up online with their weekly membership and went to the Poway, Ca branch to pick them up, coming from a Filipino decent, my parents don't have the simplest of names, when I told the salesman my parents names, he laughed. uhh.. really? Simply rude. Him and the saleswoman helping me were so rude and unprofessional, I was truly in shock by the hiring standards of this company. Granted it's memorial day weekend and plenty of people are calling to ask for their hours, the salesman says " i swear if another person calls, I'm going to throw the phone, " in front of other guests. I'm sorry but these employees need to realize that if it weren't for their customers they would've have a job. Seriously La fit corporate, please re-train all your associates to be a little more professional and respectful of their guests, and maybe teach them the value of your customers.
DAY LIGHT ROBBERY! at East Point L A Fitness I lost my Black Berry. One honest member of the Gym called me when he found it. In good faith, I asked him to give the front desk for custody till the following day. The "Manager" denied responsibility without making an effort to ask his staff!
I went to cancel my membership that gets taken out of my credit card on the 6th of the month 8 days from today. I was told I had to send in a form instead to corporate office, how stupid is that when I paid and joined in one day at the same place ?? they deliberately do not have a email to cancel with, plus they post bogus phone numbers on several websites which makes it not possible to call and quit. from the look of a above complaint they may even hold on their mail to force you to pay yet and extra month which may be all part of a plan, who else in the world of service had no phone number to call to quit or email to quit or service location that will not allow you to quit..the answers is no one that I know of. the gym is hardly ever wiped down and people are always getting sick. you fill in the blanks. the janitor walks into the ladies locker room with out knocking how would you feel if you wife was there ?? it is ok for facilities just management is not customer oriented and for a male to walk into a female changing room what do you think may happen next ? join at your own risk and dont say you were not warned.
I signed up my whole family of 4. LA Fitness was the only gym in our area that would allow a discount for my husband since he is in a wheelchair and unable to use most of the equipment. We are lucky in Portland,Oregon to have some nicer employees at our gyms,(some creeps too) but dealing with corporate and their "rules" has been pure stress and complete frustration for me.There were several little matters that should/could have been easily cleared up, but the shallow jocks who are all surface goodness with the mentality of used car sales men were so devious and underhanded and too ignorant, even of their computer system. They couldn't even make a change in the system of the spelling of my daughters name. Her name is Ashley and they put her in as Ash. When we would need to contact membership for any reason, they were NEVER able to locate her. We finally learned of this and asked them several times to correct her spelling so we wouldn't have these issues every time. They always assured us it was done but it was never corrected right in the system, even after repeated attempts.I finally after two years had enough of the million small things and went to talk to the manager, this was the superficial jock I mentioned earlier. He barely showed interest or intelligence enough to listen and understand my issues. He finally called someone on the phone and by the look on his face you could see the guy on the other end was bad mouthing me and by the time he hung up his entire additude changed and he treated me as if I was in the wrong. Finally I talked to a sweet girl at the front desk who told me they happened to have a district manager in the building and I should talk w/ him. I got a little more attention but still was made to feel that my frustrations were petty. I explained to him that I had tried to reach corp. off. by phone several times but they only had a recording to leave a message. They have a small window to call you back (not the same day)so I guess if you are not available you are out of luck. they never tried twice. I guess you have to push a button but as soon as you do they disconnect you and they won't call you back.This went on for days and days. I was so mad I could have screamed.After telling this to the dist. guy he asked what he could do for me. He finally was able after 2 years of requests to change Ashley's name but as far as anything else he was unwilling or unable to help with my contract issues. I am so relieved to read these horrible reviews. I thought I was in the minority in dealing with a company I thought was dishonest, rude, unorganized, mismanaged and shallow. Our facility was clean and nice but the unhappiness and "slacker" additude in the employee's faces told me they worked for an unprofessionally run company with a poor management history. You can alawys tell about any company by looking at the staff at the bottom to know how it is managed at the top. All indications say this is a poor overall company where the dollar reigns over customer service and satisfaction. I finally cancelled my membership but my husband will keep his cheap rate for life, but only for the rate.
there system is terrible .. don't switch banks and try to call them to give them a new card. Horrible experience had to call 15 times got hung up on and dropped numerous times .. i still haven't been able to get the new card on there. i am switching to a new gym now.
I signed up about a year ago and then went month to month. They charged me $10 for something I never signed up for (still waiting for my refund). I decided to cancel my membership and then 3 weeks later they billed me again and messed up my account and now they don't even answer the phone. FUCK YOU LA FITNESS
I've had a great experience with LA Fitness for the past 6 months of personal training that I have done, until recently when my billing cycle was supposed up. I started training in October and signed up for six months of personal training at $280.00 per month. In March, when I knew my last payment should be getting close, I went to my local LA Fitness and talked with an employee to confirm that my last payment would be April 12th. He told me that April 12th would be the last personal training bill and that following that it would fall back into the $30 per month for regular membership. And that was it. No "You need to cancel your training membership," nothing to indicate that there was any action required on my part. I left with the knowledge that the $280.00 would be charged for the last time on April 12th. The following month we were billed again for $280.00 on May 12th. When I called to dispute it they canceled the personal training bill for me over the phone but told me it was my responsibility to have canceled it in April. This is where I feel MISLEAD & DECEIVED. I went up to my local LA Fitness again today to dispute the charge and asked for a manager. After I explained the situation, she told me that the information that I was telling her was wrong and that it didn't matter what I was told by her employee because it was my responsibility to know to cancel in April. She told me that she could not "rely on a conversation" because she had no way of knowing if it really happened. She talked down to me as if I were a child. As I left I told her that I felt very mislead and her response was, "Well, I'm sorry that you don't understand." I give LA Fitness as a company & gym 4 stars. Love the place and the machines.However how can you run a business where almost every Sunday,the person that opens up is 15 to 45 min late.How embarrassing it should be that one Sunday the person opening up is stopped by the police(3 cars)in the parking lot-cuffed and taken to jail for speeding(85 mph) -not stopping when the policeman car was lite up-and smelled like a brewery(after he had been late at least 5 times).How can you run a business like that.Unhappy in Cincinnati.
I joined LA Fitness several years ago, I became ill with Cancer and had to freeze my membership, after having surgery chemo and radiation, in and out of the hospitals I had to cancel my membership. I completed the treatments and was finally able to return back to the gym. I phoned the office and was told come in and they could handle this matter once there I was told I needed to Pay $199.00 and $39.99 monthly fee for the first last month which would be ($79.98) I asked why do I need to pay the sign up fee of $199.00 it wasn't even a complete year that I had cancelled my membership. I said no way can't I just pay the monthly fee? remind u I had already paid this fee when I joined. I feel why do I need to pay this fee again I only cancelled my membership due to medical issues which I feel they could have waived this fee and just let me pay the monthly fees and start back. But I see they have no consideration for sickness, death or anything they just want your money the only reason I was going back was for the water exercise due to health reasons other than that they can keep their membership and fees
