I've been interesting in getting my fiance to make a switch to LA fitness for a while, he was open to the idea if he liked it enough but as it is I only pay 40 bucks a year and Is happy with there.... I called to see about a pass for a few days (i called in advance to make sure we could work out with out a hour long tour because I convinced him right as we we about to leave to go to 24 and did not want to not work out) we got a HIGH pressure sales talk for 50 minutes from the a manager named Dean who was fit for the part of a used car salesman in a cheezy movie... When I got my daughter from kids club she was alone crying and a child was in charge (someones daughter?) no IDs or sign in was used when I dropped her of or picked her up... although dean told us how spectacular and safe the kids club was, and that all employees have a special livescan that takes a month... Dean said a LOt abut LOT. When we did not sign on the way out (I realized i wanted to find out if i liked the yoga teaches as well we were open to give the kids club another try) he "messed up the email address to send us the 3 day pass. A month later his twins 12 years old asked if we could try it again because we told them that LA fitness lets kids come with you for a small charge. I called to ask how that would work and got told by a girl that she was not going to price match. I asked her what she was talking about? I explained my situation again and was requesting to know how we would go about doing that and she told me that if we just wanted to come check out the club we should stay at 24....I could not believe how she made no sense, I asked if we had misunderstood each other, I told her I thought it was a nice club and wanted to see if the boys would actually like working out (saying it is one thing, doing it the whole time i go is another) and if they can come along or get a pass or if we could pay a fee and for how much, for them to come.. I don't now what she heard but she hung up on me! Looks like a nice gym but the staff was so bad and made it so hard to try it out we are just going to stay with 24...24 kids club is disneyland compared to theirs and I would hate to leave the yoga teacher (Christina) at Murrieta/Temecula. The lady I peeked in at LA was scary as far as Yoga goes.... anyhow really bad experience, I think i would have at least switched my membership over just for the racket-ball and separate saunas had people not been so horrible.
I just called the LA Fitness on Arora Ave N in Seattle WA. 7-08-2011. I called about 6:45 PM. I was speaking with a gal named Tazia or Tezia, I did not get the spelling of her name. I can tell u, I will not join LA Fitness. I could tell that she was not interested in the few questions I had, was giving information to another person about address, or something. It was not just the lack of attention, her attitude displayed that she really did not care. I asked her about scheduling a tour, and she said you can just come in. Very unsatisfied with customer service.
I was undressing in womans locker room when a woman walks in with her 10-12 Year old boy and girls younger and sits them down in the locker room. I was topless and in thre process of putting on my swim suit. Male boy was embarred and I was totally caught off guard. I ran into a bathroom stall to finish putting on my swim suit. I then went to the pool and tried to to laps. Pool and jaccuzi area also had younger children just playing around. I could not find vacant area to even swim. I told the receptionist and she said that she noticed kids in the pool but could not do anything about it because she was too busy. She apolgised about locker room experience but she could not do anything about it. I am VERY unhappy and have serious reservations about returning. The place is a ZOO!
I belong to the LA Fitness in Collegeville, PA and it's now been close to 2 years. I joined when the club first opened and it was a great club in great condition. I managed to survive the hard-sell membership and the even more ridiculous hard-sell after my first complimentary personal fitness workout with the trainers. I've noticed a huge decline in the club over that period. Currently, 50% of the treadmills are out of order. Many of the weight machines have rips and tears in the padding. Trash cans are overflowing. Half the paper towel and purell dispensers are empty. It's a sin that there doesn't seem to be any urgency to provide a clean, well-run club for members. Profits seem to be the only concern. The sad thing is that there is only one other club within a 5 mile radius so joining another club isn't even an option for me. Anyway, I'm sending an email to Jill Grueling who's the President of Operations. Not that it will make a difference but at least I'll feel better about it. I found a complaint from an LA Fitness employee online. Here's the contact info he posted: La Fitness International LLC 2600 Michelson Drive Suite 300 Irvine, CA 92612 you can direct those letters to the following executive members: Chin Yi: Founder Louis and Michu Welch: Co Owners (LouisW@LaFitness/.com) Stan Yasuda: Executive Assistant Jill Grueling: President of Operations (jillg@lafitness;.com Leslie Blanchard: Vice President of Operations, cell: 909-821-0745 Suzzie Horton: Vice Presidents of Operations, cell 949-633-8072 (suzzieh@lafitness,.com) Mindy Stokesberry: Head of Human Resources 949-255-7236 ( mindys@lafitness.com ) 800-600-2540 ext: 57783 I hope that this was helpful to others who may just want someone to vent to. I had to search for hours to find this information as it's not posted anywhere you'd expect to look.
Are you at corporate headquarters interested in making money? If so, read the many complaints that have been posted about your club in many parts of the country. More satisfied customers means more money in your pocket, which is a business bottom line. Hire friendly, helpful employees. Keep your facilities clean and in good repair. Stop promising things you cannot deliver. Sooner or later, people see through a facade. I am unhappy with my local gym in Mt Laurel, New Jersey. If the management is not responsive soon I will take my hard earned dollars elsewhere. Money talks. Everything else walks!! Heed the warning corporate.
I quit la fitness OFF OF Silver Lake Road in Minnesota on the 25th of May 2011 because I told the corporate office not to go in to my bank account because I had know funds , so what the F Did they do , they didn't try once , not twice but 3 times to try to get money from my account and they gave me 87 dollars of penalties and they say I owe them 78 dollars and they have not yet cancelled my account , I don't and will not pay them the 78 dollars as they owe me 87 dollars that they said they will not refund me , la fitness is full of cow dung , they can go f them selves
LA Fitness in Loudoun County Virginia (Leesburg) is rapidly declining. Many members joined LA Fitness when it opened up after the local Gold's Gym closed. It is a nice facility but "Club Pride" is a freaking joke. The personal fitness instructors scatter the weights all over the facility. No body cleans up; frequently looks like a yard sale. Less than a year and the weight benches have grease stains due to no one wiping them down or cleaning. Always broken sinks in the bathroom, paper towels/trash scattered around. Great opportunity for a gym owner to open one up in Leesburg. Fitness First and LA don't get it.
My son was diagnosed with M.S. and hasn't been at the L.A. Fitness Center for two years.... He cannot get them to stop taking money from his banking account which was set up for automatic monthly payments... DON'T SIGN UP AND LET THEM HAVE YOUR BANKING INFORMATION!! I can not get anyone at the telephone number given us from his banking institution and my son keeps getting charges! I have enough to worry about and take care of for my son and do not need the hassles of an unworthy fitness club!!! They really NEED to go out of BUSINESS...
Well then how do I contact the LA Fitness corporate office by email? My local LA Fitness Club is headed for destruction by providing cancelled work-out classes for the past 3 months. The pay is so low for instructors, the good teachers are seeking neighborhood fitness centers and helping their business grow. When a member voices their concerns about trying to squeeze their work-out in, to their local location, between busy working and family committments, and drive to the club to help promote health and wellness and all of the "great things that you say that you provide, they find out that their class was cancelled...time and time again. They make alot of signs to inform us of the cancellation, and shrug their shoulders. If you don't wwant to pay higher and compare to other gyms in the area, your members don't see the role models in fitness that they deserve. Put the signs away for classes on July 4th, because when you get there, you won't find any.
I recently decided to shop around for a new gym membership. I was on the phone with a sales rep from LA Fitness for close to an hour. He assured me that my rate would be set at $45 split three ways and that my initiation fee would be $25. I was told this membership would be good at all clubs. I went to the gym and did not have time to sign up then, and asked to use the gym to try it out. I was told this would not be a problem. But I was stopped at the desk by the manager and was told to pay $14. This was minutes after I just was told I could use the gym for free. The manager pounced on me like a dog tearing through meat. He went on and on about paying and I tried to tell him that his sales rep just approved my entry but he was on some power trip. What a dumb jock block head! After trying out the gym, I came back a few days later. I had an appointment and when I got to the gym was told the guy I wanted to see was on his break. I was shuffled to the sales desk where another guy proceeded to try to sell me something totally different than what I agreed to on the phone. The old bait and switch was in full swing. I wouldn't buy the crap he was selling me and said that I was no longer interested in the gym. As I walked away, the assistant manager on duty told me "you know we got 10,000 members...we'll be alight".
I got duped into paying for the personal trainer for a year. I trained 5 times @15-20 min and pay $100 a month never got a call back, or even and effort to try to work something out. It's sad they have nice stuff but they screw you over all the time.
I have been paying every month for my membership for over a year with no missed payments...due to an unexpected occurence I needed to postpone my payment for this month by 2 weeks. I contacted my gym directly and they were unable to help me in stopping my payment from running. I contacted the corporate office and was told that because my payment date is today, they can't stop my payment and I was told that they would try to run my card up to 3 times. Such poor customer service, I have never missed a monthly payment and as a courtesy they refused to even hold my payment.
I am a Very concerned parent, I asking that someone from the corporate office call me immediately at 630-204-8892. I am the parent of a 19 year old teenager who was very excited to join your new club in Downingtown, PA. He went the first day to join! Someone at your club also took the "advantage" to sign him up for a personal trainer program for $240 a month. I went to the club this evening to speak to Brian. As I waited 8 minutes for him to answer some emails I waited. Though it was very upsetting to try and discuss this with him, I kept asking him if there was a manager or someone else that I could talk to. Brian was not only uncooperative but proceeded in telling me "he WAS the manager and he IS CORPORATE in this region " when I asked to speak to someone else or a contact at the corporate office. He offered to let him out of the contract for only $1200! which is 1/2 of the remaining balance of the contract, npw 10 months left. My son was never given a contract, never told he couldn't get out of the contract and taken advantage of. I also explained to Brian that my son has special needs. During High School and now in College, he is in assistance reading programs. The answer I received was "he is an adult and that is the way it is". Is this the way LA Fitness does business? Is Brian the face of how LA Fitness treats its customers? My son has now invested a $290 entrance fee and 2 months of a personal trainer totalling $480! I can be reached tomorrow after 12:30. I would hope that I wouldn't have to go to Downingtown and let them know about your business ethics as well as the local news. If Brian represents LA Fitness's policies and ethics this is a sad brand. I work in the hospitality business and if one of my staff handled a customer this way, esp a "Manager", I would have some serious issues.
The LA Fitness location at Lavista in Georgia recently had a makeover. Although the membership population is 90% black, the gym saw fit to put HUGE murels of white men and women all over the gym walls. The photos dominate from the top trim of the ceiling and contain words such as: power, success, determination. There are probably 30 photos dominating the walls from the main area, basketball court, locker rooms, pool, etc. I am wondering 2 things. First, why are there no photos of other races? Second, whose bright idea was the dominating murels anyway! Even the white members have complained that the photos create an atmosphere of racial division. Black, white, asian, italian or whatever-we all come to workout. Why put anyone on the spot with such an offensive decor. I'M PISSED ABOUT THIS!!!
I think it's a disgrace that you fired Karen Miller (ID#1881214) of Abington, Pa. I joined this new club because she is a great aqua instructor. She was fired due to using the "noodle" at the pool. Lots of members suffer from Artiritis due to the cold weather in the winter and need to be trained in a different way than CA or FLA. Members continually requested them and they are used regularly at other L.A. Fitness and other health clubs. They help members who are fearful of the water and can help members doing situps and lower body exercises with advice of the instructor. Curently, Personal Trainers in Abington and Grant Avenue are not Aqua Fitness Trained in the same manner as they used to be (less training and study). A two hour class is all that's needed, as to more regid and expensive training. Apparently, it's just to save money. I may not continue my membership. I'm a little disturbed that unless I hire a personal trainer for machines, I cannot get any help.
To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to you about the unlawful dismissal of my LA Fitness aquafit position which was held at the Abington facility of Pennsylvania. I worked from 9-10 A.M. on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 6-7 P.M. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On my way home from work at about 7:30 PM on June 16th, I received a phone call from Lisa Tagolina explaining that my classes were going to be taken over by other individuals. I was told that one of the reasons for my position being taken over was because I, on occasion, use noodles in the pool since I have had members request me to do so. I do not use noodles all the time as I frequently switch my routine. The reason I incorporated noodles into my routine was because in addition to the members liking them, it gives extra support to some of the members who are fearful of water. I take my position as an instructor very seriously and always work to make sure the members feel comfortable and safe, which the noodles seemed to help do. I am a medical assistant of 28 years and have dealt with many individuals who suffer with various medical issues. I also sub at other facilities when I am needed, and have recently been offered extra classes as well (none of which would interfere with my position at LA Fitness). I truly love my job and would love the opportunity to give members of LA Fitness the confidence of safe swim exercise. I only ask that you please reconsider your decision and think about reinstating my employment. I feel that in the last two and a half years I have turned into an excellent swim instructor, and I only wish to continue to achieve my goals, not only for myself, but for the members as well. I am also aware that the position I held will be taken over by personal trainers. I feel as though I am as qualified and capable of doing this job considering I am a certified water aerobics instructor who also completed a six month course on anatomy, physiology, and water safety procedures. Furthermore, I treated my job at LA Fitness with the utmost care. I tried to be a team player, always taking shifts that were not covered. Even though I was made aware that there were some complaints made about me, the compliments that I received from members outweighed the complaints that were occasionally made. I know that my presence will be missed by many members, as well as other instructors whom agree with me on the issues mentioned. In conclusion, I hope that my letter has made you reevaluate your decision. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter, and I look forward to a rewarding career with LA Fitness. Sincerely, Karen Miller Mssxykaren@aol.com
I joined LA Fitness in Rockvilee Maryland because it was convenient for me. I found a very good cycling class (the teacher is just amazing). So, I am doing only this class three times a week. Few weeks ago the air conditioner was not working properly and one of the girls in the class almost passed out. We complained with the two managers in the location and so far little was done to solve the problem. Members does not have any way to contact corporate office and I think the problem in this location is management. Who hire those guys? It does not make any sense to have problems unzolved like the air conditioner, it is a brand new loaction!!! If this teacher stop teaching there I will cancell my membership. The club has an enormous potential but, the management team is just terrible. Corporate office, if you want to keep your business, listen to the members feedback....LA Fitness bad reputation is growing and growing ando growing.
