INITIALY I WAS INTRODUCED TO A YOUNG ATTRACTIVLY-FIT FEMALE TRAINER AND OPED OUT FOR CONTACTING A TRAINER - SHE WAS PLEASENT AND ORDERLY - HOWEVER, LACKING IN CONVERSATIONAL KNOWLEDGE FOR TRAINING WITH THE ELDERLY. I WENT ON AND WORKED WITH THE IN-POOL AROBICS CLASS FOR A WHILE UNTILL I REALIZED THE AROMA FROM THE POOL WAS CAUSING MY BREATHING AFTERWARDS TO WHIZ - INDICATING IRRITATION TO MY LUNGS. I DO ABOUT 1 1/2 HOURS ON THE BIKE, ROW MACHINE AND THE WEIGHTED BALL ON THE MAT. COMPLAINED ABOUT THE TOLIET LIKE AROMA IN THE HOT-TUB AND AFTER A MONTH OR SO IT WAS REDUCED. OTHERWISE, THE CENTER PURRS ON WELL ENOUGH - CONSIDERING SO MANY MEMBERS ARE IN AND OUT. I HAVE BEEN MEMBER FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS OF THE CENTER IN HOUSTON, TEXAS OUT ON THE SW-FRWY & 99.

You may print and make copies of this document. Summer is just around the corner and in some parts it has already began. The GMX units on the return line to the pools after the pump and filter will descale any mineral build up and lower the maintenance costs. I was a Personal Trainer at LA Fitness in Farmingdale, NY location from Dec-May of 2012. I was let go by the V.P. of the area who's name is Al only because one of my clients asked to have his sessions frozen. Another client who I saw once a month asked to switch trainers that same week. I train around 20 people a week and all of my clients are very happy with me. When I notified them I was fired I got nothing but support and kind words from everyone (ages 17-62 both Male and Female). Al did not bother to check to see if any other client had a complaint, which is not the case. I have text messages, phone numbers of my clients, and their names to prove it. Al took the word of one client who was upset to have to pay $15 to have his account frozen, that I was a bad trainer. Which again is not the case because this client told me how much he liked me, told his friends about me, and I believe only said what he said in the heat of the moment. LA Fitness is a poor choice to seek employment because you are severely underpaid, bad treatment, and let go for circumstantial reasons. The company lies to it's members, staff, and does not care about anyone but themselves. They do not want to hear your complaints. They will not look to rectify a situation. This company just does not care. LA Fitness is not a good place to join. I would seek out other gyms in your areas. I think the reviews on this site and other sites supports that. I hope what i'm saying as a former employee convinces you.
AVOID LA FITNESS. I was a Bally's member, but when LA took over the club, my account went to them without my having signed anything. I had already canceled my Bally's membership (too far from my new house) and had sent two letters to Bally's indicating the closure of my account,one to the corporate office and a copy by hand to the manager of the club. I had had the account on hold for two months, so I knew I would be charged for 2 months past the year contract. But LA continued to take funds from my credit card account and is STILL bugging me for payments four months after all payments should have stopped. VERY bad business practices.
i recently gotten a guest pass for la fitness in pico rivera i wanted too see how this gym works i have a four month baby and i found out that they had a place were they watch kids while parents worked out i was thrill thinking this is great not only will i work out but my kid will be watch! well when i enter the gym i was nervous first time leaving my little girl one of the kids klub staff greeted me and was very nice i already knew she was going too be okay since she told me she has worked with kids most of her life! as i walked inside too see the kids klub something really bugged me she open one of the swings were they rock the kids n i notice how dirty n old the swings were i asked her can she please clean the lid n she did it with out any attitude she even said sorry and explained by saying we had this almost 4 years since we opened and we havent gotten new ones but we clean them everytime a child comes in! i asked if she had a blanket or something to put under she handed me a old worned out blankie as i looked at her with a face of like our you serious! she apologized again i knew it was not her fault but geez isnt LAFITNESS A BIG ASS COMPANY!!! i told her dont they supply you guys with new stuff once a year!? she looked at me and i knew her silence said it all. when i was done with my work out i came in and notice another female in their she had a baby in her arms while rocking the swing!!! wow i was amazed with this young girls how they kept their cool it was a very busy day when i came in and i could tell in their faces that they seriously needed more stuff for the infants and kids!!!!! needles too say i never went back for my two days i had i was disguisted how they had the equipment for the kids not only that but it smelled!!!!!! i tried talking to the girl manager but everytime i looked at as i got my child ready she was on the phone and her face said it all she looked like a bitch!!!!!LA FITNESS YOU GUYS SUCK BIG TIME I HAVE GIVEN YOUR GYM A BAD REPUTATION I TOLD FAMILY AND FRIENDS NOT TOO JOIN YOUR GYM!!!!!
Someone please fix the water fountain at the aneheim hill la fitness bryan u suck u promised mr hissy fit a year ago that the fountain would shoot cold refreshing water :D I rate that review a 5 it was by far the best complaint
I am extremely disappointed in LA Fitness and their lack of attention to members. I was at the center located in Edina, MN today and after adressing a previous issue with club personnel about the basketball court and not being able to utilize this at the club due to the men running the courts they failed to address a solution. Today things got completely out of hand and the only solution Clint the "club manager" could come up with was to keep letting the men run game after game while us women who had a game going and was interuppted not be allowed to continue our game. How disgusting, sexist and unprofessional. I will not be returning to the Edina location and now am really considering canceling my membership and going to Lifetime. The many times I have been to Lifetime I was treated way better and got court time. My membership is paid monthly and there is no reason I shouldn't be able to utilize all aspects of the gym.
LA Fitness is okay, but I gothere to take aerobics classes, and they have so many just basic classes on weekeday evenings. Sunday's Zumba is the best class there, and also Monday and Wednesday morning cardio Mixx (hi/lo aerobics). It gets so warm in the aerobics room, there are no fans, and when there are a dozen or more class members in there, it gets extremely warm. HELLO-anyone ever heard of Heat Stress caused by lack of moving air???? I am disapointed at LA Fitness and wish Bally's would have stayed open in Fridley. MN. They had a gorgeous huge aerobics floor with fans in 3 places! ALSO-why are there no full length mirrors in the locker room??? We go there to work out, we sure would like to see what we look like when we get dressed. For crying out lout LA fitness - Can't you please get on board? Full length mirrors in the locker rooms, fans in the Aerobics room, and more aerobics classes that are more fun and challenging, instead of most of the basic simple classes that you currently have. Bally's sure knew how to have fun and challenging fitness aerobics instructors, why can't LA? Thank You for listening to me. jkg
AVOID LA FITNESS. Its a horrible gym with shady sales team. Go the run around to cancel my membership as well and now looks like I'm being charged another month. HORRIBLE BUSINESS...DO NOT EVER GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!
I have been a member of Ballys since 1986.I called to renew my membership a few days ago. It had expired a couple months earlier and when I noticed I called and the recording looked up my account and said to contact LA Fitness as they bought my contract. So I tried to find a contact number and couldn't find a number to help me. So I called the Huntington Beach LA Fitness where the ballys was and they said to come in and they would take care of me. I went down with my membership card and a check but the girl said she couldn't find it. She called the manager out and he looked it up and it sounded like he found it also looked like he was reading it but told me he couldn't find my account. Since I have been a member for so long my fee was under 100 dollars so I think that has something to do with them not finding it. He said we could open a new account. I said how much is that he said around a dollar a day is what it works out to be. That was $280.00 dollars more than I paid for my last year. He said what do you want to do? I said if I have to pay that much I would rather go to the gym closer to my house. He said ok and walked away. You would think they would at least try to figure out how to keep you. I know Ballys would. So if you were a member before plan on paying twice as much when your membership expires. Ballys used to seem like they had better employees. It would be nice to be able to contact a customer service number. From reading all the complaints here I doubt they even care.
I joined a week-to-week membership while visiting my mom in Brandon, Florida. Whatever you do you can not trust a word that is said at LA Fitness in Brandon, Florida. Dave Ryder specifically told me that I would have no problem at all cancelling my membership and to call his cell phone and he would personally cancel my membership. Unfortunately I did not look over last months credit card bill and much to my suprise, they have been charging my account since my cancellation Feb 14th up until April 19th. So I actually paid over $125.00 to swim once at La Fitness. Dave lied to me. The Operations Manager lied to me. Corporate lied to me as well. You will never be reimbursed for any money they take from you. Stay away from LA FITNESS - it is the worst experience I've ever had at a health club. Lifetime Fitness is a fitness center that treats you with respect and is extremely professional - you would never have to worry about being ripped off or lied to by them.
Omg!!! I'm reading these comments and I agree. I was with Ballys for year and never had a problem. I believe the trainers that LA Fitness have need to be trained. It's disturbing to see them walking around with those manual. That's a waiste of paper. PT should know how to train and not depend on a manual or PT should be people in shape and not look worst than you. I had an amazing trainer which was originally Ballys and they decided to send him to a club where is mostly Spanish speakers, and he doesn't speak Spanish . The location was convenient. He decided to leave. I refuse to work with another trainer. I recommend before you sign a PT contract find out about them. They might know less than you. Very unhappy client!!
Today i went to La Fitness in Glendale Heights, Illinois and was very dissapointed wwith the front desk staff, first of all they didnt greet me with a smile but with attitude secondly i didnt have my card with me so i handed them my ID and he asked me for my phone number, why? when you have my ID in hand you could of looked it up by my name, but he wanted to be difficult so i recently changed my phone number and forgot about the number i gave at the time when i signed up, so your front desk staff with my ID in hand kept asking me about the number and i told him i forgot he tapped on the table until he felt like looking in the system. What kind of customer service is that, after he found me i asked to cancel my membership and he said Michelle B. wont be in for another 10 minutes which i them proceded to work out i later came to see her and explained how i was treated and that the guys in the front where rude and her answer to me was," I didnt ask about them im asking you what is your phone number"? how rude was that if shes the manager for that location she could of handled this a better way. i have worked in customer service for over 10 years and i was thought customers always right or listen before speaking. i expect something done with your staff and i would like my payment that i put down as my last to be put back into my credit card because i will not be entering that rude, inconciderate gym again. thank you very much..
LA Fitness- you really need to do someting about your trainers...I've been through 4 trainers withing the last 2 months they are very unprofessional, how can you train someone while talking and texting on your cell phone the entire time. Also why do need to look in a book to find a workout plan for me. You also might want to train the trainers on how to use the equipment i'm paying alot of money every month to be have assed trained and you all don't seem to care. I never had any issues with Ballys this is such bullshit. LA Fitness will soon be a thing of the past if you continue to allow this crap to continue, people will start going else where..... Hear our concerns!!!!!!!
You have no direct phone means for your members to provide feedback so you can correct your problems. The manager (Bryan) at the Anaheim Hills shop is not interested in customer service! Over a year ago i asked him to fix the water fountain so COLD water would be available. Still NO COLD WATER!!! Temp is like tap water and not refreshing at all. You obviously have management problems. You can't keep staff. There are constantly new faces. What's his problem?
I have been member to what was Ballys fitness club for years. My recent membership is good till August 2013. I have just returned back to the gym which is now l.a. fitness the manager on duty which i believe his name is anthony needs a lesson in customer service. On my membership i have paid childcare, the lady at the kids room told me i needed to get the new l.a. fitness member cards to enroll my son. she was nice. i went to the office cause no one was at the front desk, anthony open the office door and i explained to him, that i needed to turn in my ballys card for a l.a. fitness card. he told me that the lady that took care of it was busy at the moment to help me. he almost left me standing there until he saw the confuse look on my face which he then proceeded to say i guess ill just help you myself. i was surprise on his comment but kept it kool. he looked up my information and he did not explain but told me that l.a. fitness would keep my contract until next year when it expires. he also said that once it expires i could take my business somewhere else, and gave me no further information on what my options could be. the whole time he was not looking at me, he was talking to another member alan about customer calls. he then told me to look at the camera not even looking where he was aming that he kept messing up asking me to retake it. i was upset but still kept it kool, i tried asking him information on what changes my membership had because of the new contract he said he would tell me and then started walking away, i called him back and he told me he forgotten to look by this i was really upset and a lady employee took over the front desk and so she explain everything i wanted to know. i have worked in customer service for over 21 yrs and i have never ever been treated so badly. he acted incosiderate like if i was taking his time. i can tell you that bally employees might not always been the best but never had they treat me like this. this happened at the l.a. fitness in national city, san diego, on 4/9/12 @ around 5 p.m. very disappointed with my first day at an l.a. fitness club.
On Thursday, April 5, 2012 I went into one of the La Fitness Gym's in Goodyear/Avondale Arizona. It was am experiemce to say the least! My sole purpose for going there was to inquire about memberships. Two attendants were behind the circular reception area. One was on the backside engaged in conversation with another staffer. They seem to be having a great time laughing, ignoring people and oblivious to the other attendant attempting to help people coming in. I clearly told him I didn't have much time however would appreciate any information or literature about memberships. He then told me he would get a sales staffer who could show me around the facility. Again, I informed him I didn't have the time however would appreciate any information he might be able to give me. This continued approximately 10 plus minuted while he checked people in and the other staffers were engaged in converstation and carrying on. It became obvious no one was going to help him nor give me any information therefore I left. What a way to do business! As a member of a gym for at least 20 years it was surprisising to see the level of unprofessionalism I experienced. That being said, and reading the other concerns, makes me wonder how many other issues/complaints might there be!
I have been very disappointed having been a member for the last one year. I enrolled for training but only trained for two weeks and thereof $70 dollars automatically being withdrawn from my account. I injured my back and can no longer be able to train due to pain. I called the office and they told me that I needed a Doctors letter which I did produce but they told me that inorder for them to stop charging me I will need to be totally disabled. My membership has since been threatened yet this is not what my understanding was initially. When joining I was told that I could be credited for the times am absent. This is very unfortunate, the only reason I joined was because of the reputation I had. La Fitness you need to do something about all this complains, they are avoidable and greed never pays.
LA Fitnes this is very sad a lot people are complaining about your services and you do not seem to be concerned at all. This is not only the respectable Members complaining but also the Staff Members. I have been a Member for well over a year and you do not treat people well, corrections should start from top management going down. I am ashamed to say that I belong to LA Fitness. You just do not have a good name out there and if you continue this way, you will meet your match and pay dearly for your deeds. At least you have been warned. This are very poor services and could be better if you treat people like human beings.
I have come to the conclusion that LA Fitness is not about fitness. It is a large corporation interested only in getting people to join. After that there is absolutely no customer service. It is impossible to speak to someone in charge at the Levittown, NY gym which I joined in December. My biggest complaint is unhealthy air quality inside this gym which, by the way, only opened about 9 months ago. The cycle room is stifling and I've been told that the heating/cooling system is not controlled in the gym, but rather by "corporate" via computer.
