Disappointed in the customer service and staff s incompetency at a local facility, Mount Prospect in Illinois. I couldn't go anywhere with the local management. So, I contacted the headquarter and it was the same. No one wanted to take care of the problem but point finger at each other. Not a trustworthy organization. The story is that I paid the payment with a check at my local facility. A staff lost my check and claimed that the check was bounced. I checked the bank and there was no record of the check being processed. It wasn t even sent to my bank. As a result, my membership got canceled. There was no grace time of two months given. They quickly canceled my membership. I asked how the membership got cancelled so quickly but they could not come up with any good reason. A staff said, "I don't know." I also requested a proof, bounced check, but they couldn't provide it. It was obvious that they lost my check prior to processing it. I tried to rejoin but they told me that I have to pay the new rate which is three times more than what I had paid for. This is a shady and dubious way to raise the revenue. They lost the check and blame it on bounced check which was a lie. Cancellation was done without the grace time. Then, they raise the rate when I try to rejoin. Very unprofessional and deceiving service. I filed it to BBB and I like to encourage others to do the same if it happens to you.
I am an unhappy member of LA FITNESS in Norwalk CT. I have stayed a member because of the convenient location. The sales staff has no integrity, promise you things they do not deliver, probably the reason managers get transferred to other clubs every few months. If they could improve on this lack of respect and dishonesty they show toward their members, they could become a more sort after gym. I have many friends that have switched to The Edge or Planet Fitness (alternate gyms) but I am still holding out in hopes that they will improve. Unfortunately, I am not having much luck finding out when the air conditioning will be fixed in the excercise room. It is quite unhealthy taking classes in the stifling room. Remaining hopeful and hoping someone will help with a few issues I (and many other members) have been having for quite some time. I would be surprises if anyone even cares about this negative review - but remain hopeful. e
I work out at the LA Fitness (formerly bally) in Doral, FL. Since LA fitness took over the AC is permanently broken. In fact, something is always broken and it takes several weeks to fix only to break again immediately. It is 85 degrees inside the club. The other day someone passed out. What is wrong with these people - dont they know someone could die from heat exhaustion? Why are they trying to save a buck on electricity instead of providing a nice club facility to attract members?
Corona Ca. I let my 17 yr old join. paid upfront 300.00. They throw in 2 free times with the personal trainer. whom then talked to me. Well talked down to me. they degraded me berated me and were down right mean. pushing me to pay 120.00 a week for my son to have a personal trainer saying if I loved my son I would pay any amount of money to get him in shape. I took it for the time. then went in the next day and cancelled the contract. that was 2 weeks ago I have not seen a penny of my money back. I cancelled with in my 3 days. My attorney is now filing papers. The corporate office has hung up on me 3 times and refuse to talk to me. I will let you know the corporate office never cares and never will. if they did none of us would be on here. And if they cared they would go undercover and pretend to be joining and stay for 7days and see how once they get your money they no longer care.
Joined La fitness not by choice but just because Ballys was sold out to them and I needed to workout at the one in Landmark plaza in Alexandria.La fitness in general has very bad customer service and very rude cust service agents in all areas . I mean in all areas be it on the phone or in person the worst customer service people. My first encounter was when our company's ceo gave a one year fitness membership of your liking to 3 people in our dept. Her assistant went to pay for a membership for 3 people to La fitness but came back without buying the membership because the agent and the manager told her she needs to bring in an interpreter because of her accent. This woman is highly educated has a master degree and speak 5 different languages including perfect English and she is a personal assistant of the ceo of which is a very successful company who is responsible for the employment of over 200 thousand people worldwide. Needless to say they lost 3 memberships worth more than 1000$. Terrible and bad for business. If you call for any question you wouldn't get any answer and they would not transfer you to any manager and have very bad attitude I hope they'll find themselves on the other side one day and see how frustrating they are. DO NOT SIGN UP TO LA FITNESS it's not worth it.
Too many teens "hang out" instead of "working out" at Holmdel gym.
Patchogue NY La Fitness was quick to get my money and sign me up. The manager on duty today when told the locker room was filthy started to rant that he was tired of the members who were a bunch of pigs. He and two other hard working (hahah) were hanging out at the front desk for 1 hour and 45 minutes this morning doing absolutely nothing. They just lost a customer and I have a big mouth. I will tell everyone that listens that this place is a dump.
I am writing to complaint of my situation. I joined LA Fitness in Warren, MI back in November 2011 and than few months after I signed up for Personal Trainer. I was not told that I have 48 hours to cancel by the Director of Personal. Two week later, I had a session with the Director of the Personal Trainer and I was hurt for a week. Prior to that working out with the Director of Personal Trainer, I had told him that my feet are very sensitive and I can not put any pressure on. Which he was well aware of. A week later I went back and asked to cancel my contract. He told me that I signed the contract for one years. I only found out when I want to cancel my contract. He nevers highlight the highlight of the cancel policy to me. I was told to sign up with the personal trainer. My complaint to the Operation Manager Laura. I don't know any of the personal trainers there at the home location. The Director of Personal Trainer should have introduce me to any personal and get to know the personal trainer and see who I click with. I feel like I was left out not knowing any of the personal trainers. Since it bee 4 months I have not get any personal training. I feel like I been cheat by LA Fitness, even I tried to schedule online, I don't know who would be a good personal trainer for me. I see many personal trainers there at the location. I feel very uncomfortable because the staffs there are not friendly. The don't even say hi to anyone. They all work around like big shop there. I am wondering what happen to the consume policy "customer is #1" and "customer is the priority of LA Fitness." I believe that by now, my contract should be voided due to services are not provided to me in the orderly fashion. Recently a fitness personal trainer was removed from his position at the Temecula, California facility. Management was in control of his schedule and made it so, that his clientele was not consistent. It was then used against him to terminate his position. Bottom line, management is responsible to ensure the clients are present for their training sessions. Beware, management will take your session away to make their quota, if if doesn't balance out, they take it out on the trainer. Corporate doesn't protect the trainer. The price of training at LA Fitness only pays the trainer approximately $8 per session, yet the member pays an average of $29 or more per session, management makes more money than the person doing the work. Protect yourself and your trainer. Don't pay for someone to sit behind a desk to help you with your health, if you seek a trainer, pay the trainer!
I'm only giving them 1 star because ZERO stars were not an option. These people at LA Fitness are crooks. They renewed my membership without my authorization. Now I am in a process of disputing the charge with my credit card company. And guess what? I get no response from LA Fitness. The telephone and fax numbers for LA Fitness are all BUSY 24/7.

Went to LA Fitness today as a VIP guest of my nephews. My husband and I have a free membership to another gym, but thought LA Fitness was worth paying for. I no longer think they have a clue what customer service means. They could not have been more rude, and told my nephew I didn't show up on their computer even though he had joined on line and had the conformation on his phone with him. They would be more than happy to sign me up before they would let me have the "free" two weeks he was promissed for a VIP guest when he joined. They let me go in today only, but no instruction or help at all. It was terrible hot in the gym and the smell was awful from all the people working out in the heat. It was at least 85 degrees outside and just as hot and humid inside. I have never been treated so badly and my poor nephew was horrified at their treatment of me. This was not what I expected from LA Fitness and while I am sure my husband and I not joining won't hurt them much, there are bound to be a lot of others like us being treated this way. Maybe they only want young buff people there and not seniors in their facility. No matter what the case this kind of customer service is not acceptable in my book. I will save the $900 I was going to spend for my husband and I to join for a year and go back to they Silver Sneakers Program. They may not have as nice a facility, but they sure treat people better
I have been a member of balleys fitness for 7 years and when la fitness took over they told me that I could renew my member on my balleys price but I injured my shoulder dr told me to take time off to rest it la fitness manager told me to.come back after it healed and he would take care of it and now they tell me they cant help me and try.to.sell expenceive membership ballelys would of taken care of me .very disapointed yla fitness numer f1185258 email hunterdan436@yahoocom
I recently went to LA Fitness in Yorba Linda. A Friend of mine has had a pass for 15 years. She was told that she could bring a friend to the classes for free to try them out during the month of May. I went with her to the class on Monday, and when i arrived they took my drivers license. When the class ended and i went to get my license the manager "Miles" came to talk to me. He wanted to sign me up for a membership. My friend explained i was trying the classes out first to see if i wanted to and then i explained that i needed to be in LA for a meeting and didn't have time that day, but would be back on Thursday for the class and would sign up then. Today when we arrived, Miles said, that i would not be able to take the class, that i would need to sign up. Again we explained about the free trial thru May, and he said that he couldn't do that because i didn't sign up on Monday. We continued the conversation, and both my friend and i were shaking we were so upset. I have never in my life been treated so rudely. When i shared the story with my daughter, she said he is always rude, to her and others at the gym when she goes and never wants to deal with him. She heard him cuss out at customer the last time she was there. MY POINT. Serve your customer. Studies show, take disneyland for example, their motto is to MAKE PEOPLE HAPPY, that serving the customer, making people feel special and valued sells. Disney is not hurting for business. Our company has grown to 120 employees and our motto is to serve our customer. Avalon, the burger and bagel restaurant next to the gym, has the motto on their door, we have the right to over serve our customer.. They are always busy.. For your business sake, please hire people who have that attitude, and you will see more customer satisfaction, which in turn will grow your business. I just thought i would mention this because as a business owner, i would care if our employees were actually turning business away rather than encouraging it.. Thank you for your time
Johns Creek, Georgia La Fitness. The music was exceedingly loud; I asked them to turn it down as by the time I left my ears were numb, my shoulder tense from the stress the loud music created...I asked the front desk person to turn it down, it continued to be loud for the rest of the week...I asked her do I have to ask you to turn it down every day? She said, "yes"! Now, the thought of going to the gym stresses me out which defeats the purpose of working out. The staff at this location blatantly disregards member needs, the treat the gym as their "hangout". This location is near a hospital and country club, the members are predominantly white collar, retirees and housewives...I do not think they appreciate the "ghetto"/club-like level of music.
I go to the LA Fitness in Morrow GA Southlake. I've been going there for 3 years. I am a racquetball player, I play 3 times per week Tuesday and Thursday afternoon and Saturday mornings, after playing racquetball I sit in the hot tub. The hot tub is not working now going on 2 weeks, needs a new air pump. I cant believe it takes 2 weeks to get a air pump for a hot tub, also the racquetball courts the ac doesn't work very well, also lights need to be replaced on all the courts we have 5 courts there is SOMETHING WRONG ON EVERY COURT. Every 15th of the month you take $35 from me for membership dues. In the 3 years I've been coming here something is always not working the way it should. This is not the first time I'm complaining all that came out of the first complaint was the manager called me and asked why didn't I tell him what was wrong before complaining to you. Now I ask you shouldn't the manager be walking around in the club to see that everything is OK. Does the carpeting ever get SHAMPOOED? Do broken lockers deserved to be fixed? Right now you are the only game in town for racquetball, I used to go to Southlake Athletic Club but they went bankrupt and they sold our memberships to you guys. I've been playing racquetball for 43 years now three times a week. Is asking for nice courts and a working hot tub too much to ask. I'm not getting what I'm paying for.

I paid 50.00 for four weeks. The membership is a scam and I joined to use the pool and sauna really not worth it (meat market) scary....and manager Angelina has no customer service. She would not give me the number to the district manager. She finally said she was going to refund the 9.85 within ten business days. She has a bad schedule and blamed her not checking her messages and not calling me the reason for her not refunding my money.

My experience at LA FITNESS..ON SUNDAY JUNE 10 . 2012..AT DESOTO AND NORDOFF...SF VALLEY..THIS MORNING.WAS ODD...GJRL THAT OPENED THIS MORNING DECIDED SHE WAS BARK OUT AN ORDER..AND TELL ME TO MOVE MY CAR..BEING THAT THERE ARE ONLY 3 CARS THATS 3 CARS IM THE WHOLE PARKING LOT........SHE PULLS UP NEXT TO MY CAR......IM NEXT TO ANOTHER CAR THAT S ALMOST 2 FT IN DISTANCE BETWEEN US...SHE SAID MOVE MY CAR...REFERING THAT IM TO CLOSE TO..??????? WHAT...WHAT...? THERES ONLY 3 CAR MIND YOU.IN THE ENTIRE LOT.....THERE IS PLENTY OF DISTANCE.BETWEEN ..OTHER FIRST CAR...SHE..pulled up after 8.. as the rest of wait..patiently ...many time they LA STAFF DONT OPEN TILL 8.15 AM....I GUESS THEY SHOW UP WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE.....I UNDERSTAND...DURING MON THRU FRI AFTER 4 P.M..YEA GETS CROWDED ...BUT SUNDAY MORNING........GIVE..ME BREAK....MAYBE CORPORATE SHOULD GIVE THEM CLASSES..ON BEING ON TIME...FOR THEM ITS NOT 8AM...ITS 8'15 ..OR SO...TO ME 8..IS LATE.........
