previous-Bally member..... when I heard that LAFITNESS was going to take over Ballys I was hoping that the cleanliness of the club would change for the best... WRONG... I was a regular member at the branch located at Venice, CA. and that place use to be really clean and care for by the employees until they started laying people off... worst thing that ever happened to that club, later on I had to change job location and moved closer to downtown los angeles.... by now LAFITNESS had already taken over but let me tell you that this location is one of the worst ones when it comes to this branches, this place stinks literally" people sweat on the equipment without taking the time to clean up and the employees are not watching out for any of this, people lifting waits drop the equipment like they do not care, and employees are not where to advice these individuals not to do that.... the restrooms stink so much that it is hard to even use them, have you people heard of exhaust fans? how about a cleaning crew for the daytime? como on....I used to recommend people to join the gym but now with these conditions there is no way... please could you guys address some of these issues? whatever happened to pride?

my personal trainer is awesome, but the company does not allow her to use the child day care. so its really hard to help her clients if the baby sitter cant come early if a client wants early. they have a child center. it should be allowed for employees to use it!!!!

Hemet location. No hot water in showers for 4 days now and counting! T.V. upstairs not working for over 4 months now. No one seems too concerned about stuff at this facility. Was a past member of a gym that pulled this sort of thing all the time. Expected more from LA Fitness. Disappointed so far.

They lie!! We signed up and they told us we could put our son down as a primary and if he didn't have time to use the facility we could switch the member at no charge to one of the other family members. Unfortunately he became injured before he got to use it and we tried to switch the membership but the manager told us we could not without going through corporate. We've called corporate left messages but no one ever calls us back. To make it worse I got up early today, Saturday morning went to the club to work out, stayed until 7:30am and no one ever came to open the club. People were standing outside, irrate. None of the numbers on the website get you to a person. What an unorganized way to run a business!!!

The site on Miracle Mile in Miami, FL doesn't have a sauna. That can be overcome however by the great pool (which could use a gardener to clean up the overgrown weeds). But the reason it really didn't get 5 stars is because they use men to clean the lady's locker room! How unacceptable is that!

La fitness in clifton nj had a mirrored room where members would use light weights ( 15lbs and below) and matt exercises. The weights were always hard to find but I dealt with it. Actually I complained when I first joined but was told by the manager that he had to lock the weights up because the members were irresponsible. Recently that room was designated to trainers only. Problem is their are now absolutely no light weights to be found and if you do find the one pair of 10 lb weights available to the entire gym you have no where to go. So I decided to confront management with a few others who were also upset about the situation. I was asked by the employee why I couldn't do my weights along with the men in the free weight area. There is no way to squeeze into that area being the men are lifting heavier weights and taking up more room doing so ALSO there are no weights below 15 lbs available. Bottom line. I joined a gym that decided to cater towards it's male members and personal training staff. I have never ever belonged to a gym where I couldn't grab a pair of 10 lb weights and do some tricep exercises. I was told by the gentleman behind the front desk that he would put some lighter weights in the sit up room in the corner. Ok Well that is where I did my bicep curls in front my back in front of someone's face on a sit up machine. LA fitness does not work with the needs of its' members. They could care less, they already have your money.

The absolute worst fitness club I have ever been two. I wish I could upload pics to illustrate this disaster. I won't waste any more of my words as it won't matter I have expressed my dismay with more than several employees and nothing has been done. I wouldn't pay much more than 10.00 peronth for that particular club.

They are outright THEIVES! Stole money from my account

i got fire monday at venture lafitness i been try fix paper to payroll to grt three month paycheck sub-april-may -june the two fix number not good becouse all day to not work ineed them bad.( last four s.s.number is 0284)my phone is 805-366-1085.

I went in to get information on the gym and pricing. I went to the gym in Palm Harbor , Florida. I was not impressed. Before I could even at least get a tour I was given the spiel about how I should join today and if I came back later the joining fee would be 100.00 more since the front desk had my name and phone number! What is that all about. I took a quick look around and left. I don't like being pressured into joining. I told the sales rep. that I need to think about it and he kept on saying what are you waitng for! After looking at the above reviews I don't feel comfortable joining. They are buying up all the other fitness companies [ Ballys and Lifestyles] so i am not sure what I am going to do.

LA Fitness in Clifton NJ Stinks Management is only interested in meeting sales quotas and not interested in customer service. Front desk is full of cranky employees. Men staff are consistently ogling women that work out there. It takes over a month to repair any broken machine. Machines are dusty and dirty, I don't think they are ever cleaned. Classes are so packed and you have to end up going 30 minutes early and then you are lucky if you can get into the class. Parking takes over 30 minutes to find. Weights are all over the place, no one cleans up. Gym is way too packed since sales quotas are all the staff is interested in....

I am a former bally fitness member, I visited the west covina Ca, branch today to inquire about my renewal. I was told by the receptionist that i no longer was active , but my husband was still able to renew at the Bally Total fitness rate. I advised her i would discuss with my husband , and asked her if they offered a pass for my self. she asked the Manager Franco, he said they no longer offered free passes, because they were really full. then he said he was not sure if my husband can still renew since its been expire for two months. he said i would need to call corp,i asked him for cop's number. he gave me a number and said to ask for Lisa, i left the gym called the number.to find out he gave me there number at w. covina and Lisa is a sales associate. It was upsetting to think he was trying to be sneaky , and probably have his sales associate tell me i can not renew to sell me a new membership. i called corp and they advised me my husband membership had not been expire for 2 months and still able to renew. also found out they DO offer free passes.

LA Fitness East Norriton, Pennyslvania has not had working microphones for the past 12 days and counting. This is absolutely ridiculous. I do not pay to attend classes that I can not hear the instructor. Brandi the manager has handled this situation very poorly and is very unprofessional when approached about the issue. I am very disappointed in the way this matter has been handled.

I give the gym a high rate because it is a very nice facility..but some of the people that work there need to be slapped in their ugly ass faces. Rude and low down, get a another job bitch. That would make people want to stop coming but other than that it is a very nice gym.

New to LA Fitness. Someone had the idiotic idea of putting down wall to wall carpeting with gym equipment. Now all the clubs have dirty, worn, torn, black carpets. Make me nauseous just working out in that environment. I don't want to iamgine what is in those fibers....germs and sweat. Suggest u visit 24hr Fitness. Nice clean, new or remodeled facilities.

I have had several memberships with LA fitness, and I have always been disappointed. They have lousy service and the place is not kept up very well. Recently I have gotten into swimming I really like the work out it gives, but had to stop because the water is so dirty ans mirky. My wife and I have brought it up to the front desk, however they dont seem to care. We only go there because it is close to our home otherwise wouldn't have a membership. Probably let the membership run out and never renew AGAIN. In short LA Fitness sucks and I would recommend them to anyone.

The LA fitness at 19531 Mission Village Dr Riverside, CA gets one star because zero is not an option. My wife and I have been a member of Bally's for twelve years, when LA Fitness took over I was sent a letter saying I could switch to LA fitness. When my wife called LA fitness she was told to talk to Nikki the operations manager and bring proof of address. On Tuesday june 12th we went in to talk to nikki, she was on the phone at the time so we were issued new membership cards and told to go ahead and work out. While we were changing everything over ther was a comment made about how much we paid for our Ballys membership, the comment was nobody pay's 27 dollars for two people. When we finished working out we went to the front desk and Nikki was still on the phone, we were told that everything was fine and we would get conformation of the closing of my wife's account since she was on my Ballys account. we went in saturday the 16th and were told our membership was only for the Ballys we just switched from. Through all this the customer service was poor at best and Nikki who was five feet away durring all of it couldnt get off her butt or the phone to get involved. when she finally managed to move she made us feel like we were a bother because it was saturday. I believe we were missled lied to because LA fitness is only out tor high priced memberships and we weren't paying enough.

I own a sports supplement store next to an LA Fitness in Arlington Tx. Today a customer came in with his brother who was home for two days to be with his father on fathers day. (John) The manager told him he would have to pay $20 for the day. (it's suppose to be $15) he said (and corporate said) LA Firness doesn't support our military. And he was no different than anyone else. Corporate agreed with him. This is sickening. Even tho my store is next door. I'll be canceling my membership and actually inviting other local gyms to have membership drives at my store. Shame on you.

I rarely if ever take the time out of my busy schedule to formally write a complaint. However, upon visiting your location in Universal City California, I felt it was necessary to let someone on a corporate level know how horrible I and my family were treated. I have been a member of 24 hour fitness for several years, however a good friend told me to try out LA Fitness because it was close to my recently purchased new home. I dropped in and informed them that I had just moved, and was looking for a closer gym and would like to try the gym out for a day, as well as inquire about membership. The manager Patrick or Peter in sales was so rude to me, I could not believe it. He spoke to me as if I was some bum attempting to utilize a gym for a day. I informed him that buying a membership was not a problem IF I tried out the gym and liked it. He then went on to tell me my cousin who was with me would have to pay $15 dollars for a day pass and he would give me a one day pass to try out the gym. I respectfully declined because he was so rude, and why should she have to pay if she just wanted a guest pass for the day as well... Upon leaving another representative Jeremy was introduced to us, my cousin had spoken with him weeks ago on the phone inquiring about membership. He asked us not to leave and apologized for the situation, but at this point I was highly offended so we left and went to 24. Two days later my cousin spoke with Jeremy again because she was really interested in trying the gym and obtaining membership. She talked me into giving the club another try. We visited again on June 12th, 2012. Jeremy showed us the gym and sat us down to discuss membership options. I as well as my cousin told him several times that the offers were good but we would like to get a feel for the club before we pay over $100 to join. He became very forceful responding to me saying "Well when you meet a guy, I think you know whether you like him or not right away," he went on to scold me like a child while being sarcastic saying "So... your paying $44.99 a month at 24 and we are walking distance and cost less, that's not very smart," which I found extremely insulting. I explained to him that working out is very important to me and the atmosphere and people that run the establishment are important as well, that why I would like to try it first. I had decided at that point that LA fitness and the employees truly do not care about the clients, their progress, and creating a good environment for people who may want to join. Obviously, Jeremy and the sales manager know very little about sales, you never insult the person who has perspective plans to become a member. Additionally, no individual in the world wants to be "sold" to. He was talking to me like he was reading a rough script but very forceful. My cousin even felt uncomfortable and she really wanted to join. We ended up trying the gym because she wanted to because it was very convenient and she just moved to LA; she needs a gym. She decided against her better judgment to join, she paid $111 that day to sign up for one of the memberships. Even during her sign up Jeremy was trying to get her to spend more or make certain additions to her membership after she said no at least six times, she also had informed him several times that she was a student. Then he asked for her debit card, which she did not have at the moment, so she told him she would call later. However, later that evening she got busy with her finals, so the next day she came in with the card, and they literally scolded her like a child for not calling. She is now cancelling her membership that fast and joining 24 hour fitness. The first time I took her there, they gave her a 3 day pass hassle free, were very nice and welcoming, explained the plans to her but was not forceful and now she is signing up with them. Its really sad that LA Fitness hires people like Jeremy and managers like Patrick who have no people skills whatsoever. Its like all they see is dollar signs and not people. I'm sure or I really hope this is not the climate for all LA Fitness, because it is really bad business skills. I hope that your staff and the people running your establishment gain some better people and sales skills. My experience at your club both times was unacceptable. And while my membership at 24 hours is $15 dollars more a month, I'd rather pay for quality and caring staff than pay less and deal with rude and forceful people.

EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CANCEL MEMBERSHIP. LA FITNESS KEEPS EXTORTING MONEY FROM ITS CUSTOMERS. SAD... I relocated from CT to PA three months ago. I went to the Hamden Gym in CT and canceled my membership in person with the Gym Manager at the end of March. I saw a charge on my credit card in April , but I thought that it is just the last charge and maybe my cancellation kicks in a month later or smth. In May my credit card expired and I was reissued a new one, so I never saw any more charges on my account. On June 4th I got a phone call from Lisa from the CA Headquarters that my bill is overdue and they have not been able to charge my credit card. I told her that the membership has been canceled and I have a new credit card. Than I was under the impression that the membership is canceled ( 2nd attempt at cancellation). However on June 11th I received an email that my 2yo child's Kids Club membership is overdue... It is such a Kafkaesque story... Than I called back the CA Headquarters and talked with Eric ( who btw is the only one who has been very professional and very helpful through this painful process of canceling my membership) and he told me that I need to go in person to my gym in Hamden, CT ( and I am already in PA) or I need to fill an online form, print it and mail it to LA Fitness in order to cancel. However, in order to fill the online form, one needs to have an online account. In order to create an online account, one needs the Customer Key Tag numbers and I have thrown my Key Tags 3 months ago, when I canceled in person my membership and when we relocated to PA. So I called Eric again and he gave me the Key Tags numbers. Than as you proceed to create the online form it asks you for the first 5 digits of the Credit Card number, with which you were paying your dues. But that is the Credit Card which expired and it was replaced with a new credit card, so I don't have the first 5 digits of the prior card, so I can not create an online account, so that I can print a cancellation form 3 months after I have officially already cancelled my membership. Than I called customer service and than Robert ID# 1836353 was extremely rude, unprofessional, abrasive and diminishing over the phone, but I was able to endure his antagonistic attitude and cancelled my membership, for which I had to pay additional $74 and I have still not received a confirmation at the time I am leaving this review. Now I am praying that my membership is indeed canceled and that LA Fitness stops extorting money from my Bank Account for services, which I have not used for the last three months and I do not intend to use (ever again!) in the future. The LA Fitness cancellation policy reminds me of the Blockbuster late fee policy... We all remember when there was a big action lawsuit from Blockbuster customers and than Blockbuster had to reimburse its customers for the late fees and give videos and DVDs for free. Eventually Blockbuster went down. My personal opinion is that LA Fitness needs to rethink its cancellation policy or this will snowball into a huge mess. If they don't change things with their management - they will be another "Blockbuster went wrong" story. And they need to retrain a lot of their customer service people - no need for big egos and bad attitudes over the phone - doesn't help a bit.
