Nottingham, Marydland-Horrible, deplorable and unhealthy conditions. Equipments are stained with dirt, bathrooms are unsanitary and never cleaned. I've been a member for over 20 years and since the LA fitness take over, I was hopeful that things would get better. It's now August and there goes my optimitism. In fact, the condition of the gym has declined emmensely. LA fitness Coorporation does not grant easy access on their website for customers to contact them. It's difficult to get a phone #. It seems that coorporate don't want to hear from its members unless its by this venue where they don't have to directly talk to us!!!
I belong to the Signature LA Fitness Club in Rockville, MD. Before that I belonged to Bally in Rockville. I wished LA Fitness would never have bought Bally out. The reason for that is, LA Fitness is not much better than Bally. O.k. they are in a newer building, but the upkeep of the facility is very poor. Some examples: Whirlpool is not working for almost 4 weeks. I am using the pool only at this time for my water therapies. Had back surgery and this is my only activity in that club. A working whirlpool would be very beneficiary for my body. There are 2 showers in the pool area, one is not working since I am using this club, and that was in March of this year. Also, SOME OF THE LIFEGUARDS do not pay much attention to members, who are not showering before entering the pool area. Also the water temperature in the showers is either too hot or too cold. I made one mistake, I convinced my friend SHEILA KAPOOR to join the club and she is very disappointed and ready to cancel her membership. On the positive side, we have free parking for 2 or 3 hours on certain days. I hope something positive can be done about your health clubs all over the country. LA Fitness is nothing but a corporation with no personal business savvy. First we signed up and with Bally-B Fit and left another place because of 'SUCH A GOOD DEAL'. It was to have bi-monthly billing that included a tanning pkg. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON WE SWITCHED'. As soon as we started coming to this BRAND NEW CLUB, they kept telling us that 'Its not finished yet, then after that it would be done soon, then tomorrow, etc. Fully knowing there NEVER was to be such a pkg. I'm sorry but acquiring a business and transferring to another company within 1 month-is something that was a planned business strategy. Furthermore, on top of hardly utilizing your facility and going back after a month or more later and still collecting our money from us-we walked in today and started our workout. 30 seconds into it someone named 'Kristin' comes up and states you cant wear those shorts. I said why and she said -they have buttons (let me tell you I had a t-shirt on that covered the shorts. She assumed, a few minutes later she sent 2 kids (that were at the desk when we walked in) over to my husband to say the same thing to him. This was our first time there since they even mentioned any type of rule. Mind you there are no formal signs anywhere , in fact the signs all say B-Fit. And no-one could even explain to us what happened with the switch in the first place. I There should be a lesson in approach here, they I tried to explain to this inexperienced know-it-alls. With all the work out facilities-specifically surrounding your location-you guys better haven't got the msg. Working out is a luxury not a necessity.....and there's too much competition. Good Bye!!!!!! Good Riddance. I want my money back!

Let me add, besides for the several episodes with poor customer service, I lost my watch at the Oak Lawn location. When I called there was no such number for this location. Even though they were sneaky to have us sign up as B-Fit with all these so called specials that they never produced they couldn't even take care of the switch appropriately. NO business cards I looked it up on the internet and it kept giving me another location,I even looked under both names (B-Fit And LA) even though it said it was this location. When I asked the person who answered for the # they said they did not even have a phone #. I had to go in to the facility 3X!!!!They kept telling me there has to be a certain person who can open the safe. But every time I went in they were never there. I even left a msg for the manager because the girl at the desk said I should just come back when someone was in. What no-one can take a msg????? So I spoke to the manager she said she would be there all day-I went within the hour and guess what? She was not there! Total laxity with business management!! When after today's episode that is on another review, we asked for cancellation papers and she said we had to come back M-F only. Once again she could have let us fill it out and submit the papers herself M-F!!!!!!!!!!!!! Total lack of accountability and work ethic!! Can't you train people to work out of the box a bit????? Its called customer service and future sales. Their job is not a entitlement, my business was!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been a member at the Oxford Valley, PA location for almost 10 years. I'm about an inch from cancelling my membership. PLEASE ADD THE RATING OPTION: (0 Stars) This place is a pit. When I first joined, the location was beautiful. Now it's a pit, and management doesn't care. If you're looking for a gym, GO ELSEWHERE! Problems (in no particular order): 1) Broken Cardio Equipment. 15 out of 40 treadmills have been BROKEN AND UNREPAIRED FOR OVER TWO MONTHS! I have spoken to the local manager as well as called Corporate "customer service". Each time I mention the broken/unserviced equipment, the next day the OUT OR ORDER signs are gone---but the machines are STILL UNREPAIRED! Two days later, the signs start popping back up. Pathetic equipment maintenence. 2) THE HEAT WILL KILL YOU. Hey, it may be Pennsylvania, but it's been over 90 outside almost every day here this summer, and not much better inside. Yes, the a/c is on, however they either do not have dehumidifying capabillity, or it's broken. Seriously. It's like breathing thru a wet sock in there. TERRIBLE! We have had people pass out and need medical attention from the heat/humidity combo. 3) They added a large flat-panel TV in the weight area. It's now been showing static for 10 weeks. W.T.F? 4) The men's lockerroom is consistently wet, humid, smelly, and dirty. Always body powder on the floor. Looks like someone was trying to bread fish in there. Nasty. 5) The cardio equipment that works is not all 100% functional. Broken fans. Dust filled fans. Random broken control keys. Random machine stoppages. Broken heart-rate monitors. Very innaccurate heartrate monitors. 6) They have about a dozen TVs for the cardio area. They generally show three channels at any given time (e.g. CNN, ESPN, BRAVO, then repeat on next 3 TVs). For these TVs they only offer sound via local FM radio, using short range transmitters. The ESPN transmitter has now been broken for a month. No sound. Just closed caption. Way to show company pride in your facility guys. 7) There is a water fountain in the middle of the facility. It has LEAKED FOR YEARS! The rug near it is soaked and mildew-y. But don't worry, once a month they pull out industrial fans and try to dry it out. It don't work. 8) This should have been the top of the list....SMELLY PEOPLE!! Not a joke. I have belonged to a variety of high and low end gyms. This one is worse than ANY for personal hygeine. I have NEVER worked out at a spot that allows so many offensively smelling people to workout in TANK TOPS! Newsflash: ARMPITS STINK! Seriously not funny when the cardio equipment places people no further than 20inches from their neighbor. And the manager there is afraid to tell anyone to take care of obvious smell issues. Says "corporate says we can't say anything, because we'll be sued". This problem is probably rising to the point where the health department should be involved. Nasty. Nasty. Nasty. We have 5 guys that HAVE WORN THE SAME SHIRT EVERY DAY FOR A YEAR. And I don't think they've bathed in as long. F-ing disgusting. Common LA Fitness. Show some godd*mned pride.
I am from Miami Florida and Id like to say is that; I am sadden of the quality that this club has turned into. There are wires exposed and the pool are floor is coming apart, I have informed management but it is as clear as there nose on there faces of what Needs to be done before some elderly person gets hurt.
Really!??? Ballys bought over by LA Fitness and LA Fitness thinks they can automatically make increases and charges on a credit card that was only authorized to Ballys. You would think that LA Fitness would get it by now after months of being declined by my credit card company; not once but six times a day! It is getting to the point of harrassment. Keep it up LA Fitness and you will have a lawsuit on your hands.
To whom it may concern, Today I witnessed the "NEW" manager at Springfield, Pa. Club be very rude to a client. The whole situation could have been handled in a tactful way, but not this manager, I would hope the Company would care about how it looks to the customers and train this female how to be professional. Beacause this person is also an instructor, who was using the treadmill not teaching, she blurted out to her "I need your employee #. This had nothing to do with this person being on the teaching staff, and the whole incident was embarrassing for everyone nearby. I know I would not like to be treated this way from someone who is in charge. Please check into her actions and give her some training.
The gym at the Southfield, Mi. location is pretty good. My only complaint is that the stereo sound system is not working, and sometimes the air comes on after the classes have ended. Instructors are forced to use a small $20 boom box, or bring their own. This tiny box has now replaced the system and goes out sometimes, leaving instructors and students with nothing. We have been without a system since April. Given the fact that we are paying our monthly and yearly fees, I strongly feel that we deserve a working stereo system. Last week, there were 45 of us in one class. The air did not come on, and we couldn't hear the music on the boom box, which eventually stopped completely. If there is anyone in corporate who could help us and investigate the problem, we would all greatly appreciate it. The manager stated that he had the order in for repairs for quite a while. Is there anyone with authority who can actually solve this problem?
I am ready to pull my membership at LA Fitness at Arrowhead in AZ. A lot of their employees are steroid users and pushers. I would say half the men that work out there head directly to the mens locker room with an employee following them the minute that they get to the gym. I think pee tests are in order for all employees. These young men abuse these drugs and then deny the side effects. If they were not harmfull, they would be legal. Sad
Wow, I doubt that I will be able to get anything done but, here goes. I was going to the Allen Park,MI.gym with my niece as her guest. I was going to get my own membership when something happened. My niece has a three year old so, she uses the day care. There was an altercation with another child and my little niece has been suspended for three months. Mind you this is the first time anything happened and the child in question was in another altercation on the same day within an hour from my niece. He did not get suspended. Now we can't go to work out because we have no one to watch the child. My niece is canceling her membership. We really love the gym but, feel very badly treated. Three months suspention? For a three year old? Come on. She's a young child not a teen. Why so harsh for one so young? You've lost two memberships and one potential membership. Keep up the good work.
The Customer service is very poor. I have a membership there and my husband Was in Bally's. The Bally's he was in closed down and became LA Fitness I am on the contract with him for Bally's. I am paying 2 memberships. Mine and The membership I'm on with him. I have been to the LA Fitness in Rowlett,Tx And asked to cancel my membership. The manager never canceled. If I don't Get this resolved. I will cancel everything. No one answers any of the phone Numbers given to you to call. This is POOR business. The Better Bureau will Also be notified. Dear Sir, I just finished writting a scathing letter to you about one of your clubs in Florida. After proff reading it I decide it was to leagthy and detailed. Botton line is I have been a member of L.A Fitness for many years,starting in Atlanta. I've had the fortune to use many of you locations in my travels and like the consistancy of you centers. Your location in Wellington Floria does not live up to your standards in my opinon and I think you should know about it. The staff is rude to say the least. I've reccomended friends twice to this location thinking it might just be my problem. They both did not join because they found the staff to be the same. To whom it may concern, Previously i'd written & posted: There's a young lady @ the Brandon, FL location who acts as a front desk manager named Jenny Ryan..... Since the posting, the company has taken the appropriate action(s) & Miss Ryan is no longer there. This said, Miss Ryan has approached me to let me know that she was completely wrong for being unprofessional (it was a tear filled apology) ...I feel she was sincere in it and would like to have this complaint removed if at all possible. It has more than served its purpose and though I'm not sure if Miss Ryan has truly learned from this experience, I feel this posting would be like an opened wound & a constant negative reminder...I wouldn't want to leave such a permanent scar such as that for anyone. I don't hate Miss Ryan, I do however wish her all the best in life and that she apply's herself in a more positive light in all of her future endeavors. Thanks so much for your time
Asked about 10 people at the company to stop charging my account. I got 72 NSF charges and LA Fitness refused to stop charging me. I had to cancel my account with my bank and get new cards and checks. It was a nightmare and everyone at the company is completely rude and refused to do anything about it. Will never join them again.
I tried to cancel on a timely basis. The manager said they had stopped billing me, but my credit card company has billed me for 4 months now, they are still charging my account. They are in disputing the charges, but this is terrible. 4 months it has been going on. I called the manager of the location again 5 minutes ago and they are ALL busy. I guess I will have to stop in person.

I joined La Fitness in North Brunswick NJ about 4 years ago. I was very happy with the gym and the amenities it had to offer. I can't get enough of the Sauna, pool and Jacuzzi. Since I joined the gym it has been going down hill. Things are often broken and not fixed in a timely manner. The Jacuzzi has been broken more than its working!! The gym is not as clean as it use to be. I spoke to members and they are feeling the same way I am feeling and want to change gyms. Summer 2011 the AC was broken for a couple of months! Instead of fixing the AC they gym brought in commercial fans that you would see on a construction site! The sauna was shut down for a while because the wood had to be replaced. Typically cedar is used in a sauna. The gym tried to take a short cut and hired a cheap contractor who installed builders grade pine 2x4's that he purchased at Home Depot! Long story short they eventually hired the right contractor to get the job down right. The cheap man pays twice!! I pay my membership every month and I expect the gym management to do there job to keep the gym in a good working order!! I hope someone important reads this and brings back the gym to what it use to be!
I was attending the Covington Location, however, I strongly suggest to NEVER enroll with this company. It is all about the money. The staff is more interested in each other than the clients. I cancelled after 2 months. Due to their POOR service & expensive fee for me & my daughter. However they did not completely cancel my account or daughters account. I phoned in & spoke directly to the Manager JESSICA, oh boy, more of the self centered & lack of customer service. She kept over talking me & talking to the other staff members. Do your self a favor just start walking and save your money.
