While shopping at the Jo-Ann Fabrics in Decatur, Il I was not treated kindly or fair. I was there shopping for beads, some beads were 50% off and some were 40% off, I asked one of the clerks there if all the beads were on sale or the ones by the sign. She told me just the ones by the sign. So i proceed to shop for the beads I wanted, went to checkout and was rudely told the beads were not on sale, another clerk called back to the 1st clerk I had talked to and said the first clerk said they were not on sale. So I walked off and went back there myself, because I know that the sign was right by the beads. When I got back there, the 1st clerk had took the sign down!!! I was livid, good thing I had 3 witnesses that saw the sign and was also shopping for beads. I said to the 1st clerk, what happened to the sign, she never did answer me, she kept talking about she talked to the manager and she thought this and she thought that...I said to her, you took the sign down and I'm pissed. So after she figured out I was pissed, she said I will just override it. Yes I got the beads on sale, but I will NEVER shop there again because of how I was treated!
poor service
I visited your Grand Rapids MI store twice in one week. I can't understand how your company stays in business! There is absolutely NO appreciation of customers and extremely poor service. I thought the waiting line at the cutting area was ralong! The checkout lane was twice as bad. It took me an hour to bring ONE fabric to be cut and paid for! I would rather pay full price somewhere else than to use your coupons. From what I have read in other reviews, it is apparent no one cares!
Dumb as stones
I bought a sewing machine for my daughter was for christmas. I was having a problem with the machine i took it to 3 different stores not one employee in 3 the stores had clue on had to help me. You mean to tell you sell sewing supplies but cannot help the customer with sewing or their machines. I will never shop there again and i wiil tell everyone i know not to shop there as well
Poor customer service
I was at the Jo Ann Fabric store in Meuthen, MA on the Thursday after Christmas at around. 1 PM. There was a line of customers to pay and only one register open. Within a few feet of this line of customers was a young man stocking Valentine items who I believe was some sort of manager. He kept stocking the Valentine items as the line grew longer. He didn't come and help to alleviate the line or long wait. Finally after awhile he called an associate to open another register. She certainly took her time to open. I was irritated that the manager had no regard for the customers or the service provided. I would have respected him if he had "lowered" himself to serve the customers. My family has a business and I worked there for many years and we would never put anything above our customers who would be waiting. I don't know what your policies are for your stores, but your managers need to be more customer focused.

I like JoAnns
I routinely go to the JoAnn's in Fayetteville, NY and sometimes the one in Clay, NY. Both are very clean. I have Never had to wait very long to have my fabric cut, granted you have to take a number. I find all the clerks to be very friendly at both stores... and these people are just making minimum wages. I would like to see more fabrics in the Clay store.. there is a lot of crafty things and less fabrics than the old store. ( The Clay store is now a JoAnn etc since 2011). All in all- I really like JoAnn's. I am in at least one of the stores about every 10 days. You can use multiple coupons there. If they are out of a fabric- they are quick to offer to order it for me.
joanns won't price match
I went into Joann fabrics (4412 falls of the neuse) in raleigh NC 12/8/12 to purchase some fabric and notions. When I got to the register I showed the cashier a sales flier for Handcock Fabrics that had notions 40% off. Joann Fabrics say they will match competitors prices. The cashiers refused to honor the price match of the competitor. I also had a 15% off my total purchase from handcock that they would not honor and they say they accept competitors coupons as well. They have no integrity and do not keep promises they make to thier customers.
Customer Service Poor
I am so dissapointed at the Joann in Pewaukee Wiconsin. The rude service is unparallel to other local stores. But tonight the way I was treated left me so cold I placed the items away and walked out - I had my purse on a corner of one of their fabric carts that no one was working on while I was picking an item - the clerk returned to the cart and told me in a very rude voice to take my purse away - I spend about 5k at Joann's every year. I can not believe that a store can continually treat its customers so poorly and get ahead. I have another Joann on Brookfield Wisconsin which have a much better level of cutomer service - I also have Michael's, Hancocks, and local shops - not to mention the internet - There is fierce comptetion out there (hence the coupon wars) - which is why I can't understand why they place so little value on their customers PS - I was told that Joann.com is owned by a different company. PS - I have never had issues with the staff at the Brookfield Michael's - too bad they don't sell fabrics. Thansk you for allowing me to vent! Anita
Add me to the list
Add me to the list of upset customers. Oh and don't bother calling their "customer service" line because customer service is NOT what you will get. Oh and the manager is "out of office" is what you get when you ask to speak to one of them. I logged into my computer to take advantage of the online special that was to begin at 12:01 AM on 11/22/12. At that time they had taken their website down and were having issues. Fine I understand that. At 12:30 I am able to order the items I want and everything is showing IN STOCK and good to go. Even got my confirmation email. Then Saturday 11/24 rolls around and I get a "so sorry" your item was OUT OF STOCK at fulfillment email. Thanks for the notice. The sale has ended giving me ZERO opportunity to get someone to go to the store for me and get the fabric I need. I will NEVER order from them again. This was my first and last time.
door buster joke
was at the White Lake store for your door buster 11/18 3 pc sewing room on wheels. store opens at 10 so I'm there at 10 along with 9 others looking for this item. Store has none. They call around and none to be found at any of the stores. What a joke. You won't be in business long if you continue to treat customers this way. No rain checks and manager was rude. I don't want to even rate a one star but you can't not put at least one. What a sorry corporation
You have a VERY unhappy customer here. I went in this morning for you so called door buster. (The rolling sewing machine bag) Of course now that you have closed all Joann stores close to me , I had to drive quite a distance to get there at almost $4.00 a gallon for gas mind you, and find that there were only 8 in your store to begin and they were all gone immediately and they would not give me a rain check...I asked if the manager would call other stores for me and she said that they were all out too..... REALLY??? I know someone far up in this company has to read these reviews. I will call monday morning to corporate and ask for a raincheck. If I don't get one, I will be posting on facebook and twitter to beware of your next holiday doorbusters....for now I know how you do business....Bad Bad Bad.
Complaint
I have shopped at Joann's in St. Joseph, MO. since July 1999. I have gone in there a few times in the past where its been very busy at the cutting table and ive had to wait. The longest waiting time was 30 minutes. I never complained. I had to go in there tonight when i got off work. I got there at 7:05 pm. It was not busy at that moment. I knew what i was after.so i hurried. At the cutting table It was getting busy. I got in line. There were 4 people ahead of me. One girl cutting fabric . The other cutting table had a ton of fabric bolts on it. The other a took a couple of them and put them away. When It was my turn I looked at my watch and it was 7:43. I noticed the other girll was pulling off sale signs and then didisappeared. I got to the register and waited. I looked at my watch and it was 7:51. I waited and waited. Finally the girl who was taking down signs shows up. She never said a word. told me the aamount and the rudely said "have a nice night". M receipt shows the time was 7:56 pm when i finally got out of there. I will NEVER step foot in there again!
MY SHOPPING EXPERIENCE AT OWENSBORO JO-ANN FBRICS TODAY WAS NOT A HAPPY EXPERIENCE...THE MANAGER WAS QUITE RUDE AND BASICALLY TOLD ME TO GO TO HOBBY LOBBY FOR MY PURCHASES BECAUSE I USED 2 COUPONS ON TWO SEPARATE ITEMS.
Yesterday my friends and I went to the Bloomfield Hills store , the help there were very burdened down because they did not have enough employes working on a Sunday afternoon. They were very helpful but it took a long time. But most of all this store should be ashamed. It was the most run downed dirty Joann's that I have ever been in , I needed to use the rest room and it was filthy. This is a upscale neighbor hood. We really expect better than that. I have been in there before because it is close to my home but I will never go there again.
Service
What is the matter with your employees at Jo-ann Fabrics in Heath Ohio? Every time, and I mean, everytime I go in there i'm treated awful. Think they need a course in customer service
Disappointed
Have shopped at the Bridgeport WV store for many years only to cringe every time I have to go there. Normally there are only 2 employees working. So one is either at the cutting table or at the register or one is running back and forth trying to cover both. Is JAF that hard up that they can't keep at least 4 girls working there? Even if they're not very busy they could be straightening the store up. There was a manager telling this girl who was cutting material for me, all these things that had to be done asap, and she keep looking back at me asking me again how much material I wanted. Once JAF goes out of business because no one cares, they'll regret not reading our comments and correcting the problem. I'm done with them and so aren't the 8 other women in our class. Convenient location, but will travel another 17 miles for the next fabric shop.
Around mid September I went to Joanns in Redlands, CA. I spent approx $85.00 for blanket yarn on sale and for dress fabric. I then bought 5more sale yarn skeins for a second blanket. On Oct 30, I went to the same Joanns with my receipt and asked to exchange the yarn for a darker color. Even though I was within the 90 day time frame, I was told it was too late. The yarn would have to be repurchased without the $2.00 sale discount per skein. The sales girl and manager said the $10.00 sale reduction could not be honored because the yarn was too old and would be a problem because of different UPC codes. I purchased another skein so I would have receipt proof that the codes were the same. How pathetic that Joanns is so pennypinching that they need to invent a bogus reason to cheat a Customer out of $10.00. When I asked for the corporate phone number or address so I could submit a complaint, the manager refused!
I visitied your new Wooster store today. There were a number of people working and not many customers. I had to wait for service at the cutting table while two staffers seemed to be tinkering. I felt there was not a customer-service attitude. I will not return to that store.
When they accsued you of stealing when paid for your product! Big law suit for them coming there whey
The review I wrote last year (2012) was never published. I wonder why? It is puzzling to me that JoAnn's never seems to take any interest in the common complaint -that the staff is surly or rude, or in my case, insulting. Corporations take on the personalities of their leadership. Can a company like this survive?
