I work at JC Penney's in their fitting rooms and you all have no idea how awful the management is. As an employee in the fitting rooms I am required to keep them absolutely spotless even if it means picking up customers' DIRTY FEMININE NAPKINS off the floor of the fitting room WITH MY BARE HANDS. I really don't care how bad customers think penney's is. If you really want to take a step into our lives go ahead working 3 jobs, minimum wage, no 15 minute breaks allowed, half your lunch hour you are called back onto the floor, all the while young teen employees complaining about how your 47 year old body doesn't move as fast as their's..I mean really are you all clueless?
I understand that J.C. Pennypinchers is closing it`s call center here in Rio Rancho,NM. Putting many of your dedicated employees out of a job. I also understand that J.C. Pennypinchers is going to cater to the young generation. Where do you people think many of this young generation gets it`s money to shop? Many don`t work. So take a good guess. Their parents, of course! The same people that J.C. Pennypinchers is putting out of work. I for one will never, ever purchase another item that your company sells or, has it`s name on. Your lucky that I`m even considering giving that company just ONE star, and that`s with some arm twisting. Your company really doesn`t deserve it. NUF SAID!
I WORK FOR JCPENNEY AND THEY ARE SO HORRIBLE. I CURRENTLY WORK IN THE METAIRIE,LA LOCATION, THE MANAGERS AND SUPERVISORS HATE TO HELP YOU WITH ANY PROBLEM THAT U MIGHT HAVE. THEY EXPECT YOU TO DO THE WORK OF THREE PEOPLE WITH ONE WORKER. THE STORE MANAGER IS VERY RUDE TOWARDS THE ASSOCIATES AS WELL AS CUSTOMERS SHE DONT SPEAK AND ACKNOWLEDGE HERSELF AS BEING THE STORE MANAGER. THEN ON THE OTHER HALF YOU HAVE ASSOCIATES COMPLAINING AND GOING THROUGH ALL KINDS OF B.S. THEY ARE FALSELY FIRING GOOD ASSOCIATES FOR NO APPARENT REASONING. ITS ASHAME AT THE WAY THEY RUN THAY STORE.THEY NEED TO CLOSE IT DOWN AND START ALL OVER. SOMEONE NEEDS TO COME IN AND STRAIGHTEN UP THIS STORE ASAP. THEY ARE LOSING A LOT OF BUSINESS REGARDING THIS MATTER
JC Penny is a sleezy place to work. They are the poster child of why this country needs unions. They want everything out of their employees, and they give back nothing in return. They brow beat all of the employees there. It makes no difference how good you are or how bad you are, everyone is treated as a number. They need bodies to fill up the space there. They will do everything to beat it's employees down. Their policy is to demoralize, demoralize, demoralize in every way, shape and form. If it makes you feel bad, they will implement it. Did it ever occur to you employees out there that you are working just to make corporate executives bonus money of millions each year, while you pray that you may just get enough hours to afford gas in your car to get to their god forsaken place of employment. Did you know that those of you loyal, will probably make less than new inexperienced hires. Did you know that after Christmas, they will cut your hours down to a trinket, usually for about two months, and not give you the bonus because it is your fault that sales are not good, even though, you may be the #1 store in your district. Suck it up, that's their policy. Did you know that they will send you home if their day is not going well. Who the heck cares if you have needs. Did you know that you will never get a raise because the economy sucks, but guaranteed that the ceo's are making the millions every year.Did you know the only good reason to work at jc penny is to not be unemployed. That basically is it. We were told that the reviews on each employee should not be too good because the survey scores suck. Does this make any sense? Nothing makes sense. What a gross place that is and is it any wonder customer service is in the toilet.
Over the years I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars at JCP. In January of 2009 I spent 10006.56 dollars on 4 pairs of drapes and 3 patio panels for my family room. One pair of drapes had a thicker backing on them than the others but I did not realize at the time that they would become a problem. This year in January, 2011, I called customer service because the one pair of drapes started to disinigrate. The backing is falling off of them and they are yellowed and you can see through it. At first the person I talked to was very nice but I got a call back saying that they no longer had these drapes in stock anywhere. Case closed. I called them back last week to re-open my case. The lady that I talked to was very nice and sympathetic. Two days later I got and e-mail from Mandy saying that my 90 day warrenty was up. Thanks for your business. ARE YOU KIDDDING ME! YOU WILL NEVER SEE ME AGAIN AS A CUSTOMER! What a dirty deal. Now I have to go to the expense of buying seven more pairs of drapes out of my pocket if I want to correct the problem. You would think that with the 17 BILLION dollars that they made last year that they could afford to keep a customer for a few drapes. Thanks alot for your great cusotmer service.
Wish.there was a 0 rating. I went in to exchange some 54$ jeans and then I went to pick out new jeans and there was big black and red signs that said buy 1 get 1, separated by a black and on a small white sign with small black writing it said buy one get the other half off. These looked like 2 different signs, the customer service attendants and manager on duty at 2pm march 11 2011 were rude and unwilling to rectify the situation. They just lost an extended family of customers...
I love shopping at JCPenney's; I have for years. I don't think you can find any better quality of clothing and catching sales just right I can purchase school clothes at a lower cost than Wal-Mart. The clothing just last longer. But, recently I have noticed that trying to purchase plus size clothing for my daughter has become impossible. My daughter wears a 20 1/2 and has less and less of a selection in the past two years than I have ever seen in with this company. Now I am trying to find her a spring dress and I can't find a single dress that I think looks appropriate for a girl her age larger than an 18 1/2. For that matter I can't find much of nothing in a 20 1/2. I quit going into Macy's because of a rude comment a sales clerk about larger kids and no longer go to Sears because they have quit selling 1/2 size clothing. Also, I am tried of seeing such a large selection in the 7-16 sizes but you are very limited to the selection of 1/2 sizes; especially the lack of dress clothes for girls that wear plus. I really do hope that JCP doesn't stop carrying 20 1/2 because if they do I don't know where I will find her clothing. JCP is one of my all time favorite places to shop and I really hate that this year it has been so hard to find the one thing that I depend on them the most for; clothing for my daughter.
I recently purchased a pair of eyeglasses at JC Penney and was told I could get a breakdown of the price when I came in to pick up the glasses. When I went to pick up the glasses and asked for a breakdown, they refused and only told me it was a package deal and they could not give me the breakdown. The sales woman was so rude, I tried to reason with her and she refused to budge. I will never purchase glasses here again, it is not worth the trouble.
I purchased eye glasses at J.C. Penney Optical Department. After less than 3 months the arm of the glasses broke. I called the JC Penney in Toms River, NJ to complain and they said since I had no warranty there is nothing they can do. Even if I had the warranty it would cost me an extra $25.00. I have had "dollar store" eye glasses that lasted longer than these frames. I will never shop there again.
Your recent catalog with the peel and reveal sticker on the front arrived and the swimsuit section should be called by the same phrase! How insulting to young women. What are you trying to do besides make them look like prostitutes. I shop for 14 grand children and you can bet it won't be a J.C. Penny until you change your ad agency.
I was only looking to verify coporate numbers to update my employment records. But surprisingly I get to read all these comments. I worked for the company for 3 years as a successful Manager. Later after transfering stores was forced to resigned or fired. (never clear). Anway I won in the end! Only African Americam manager on staff and silently treated with supicion, over worked and hounded. I had very loyal customer in my division and miss them. However the chaotic, unprofessional, unethical and bias pratices did wear on me my last year employeed with JCP. I consulted with a laywer and considered suing previously. I don't think the company overall will have success it projects because of many of the concerns all customers mentioned above.
On Jan 26. I went to the JcPenney salon to purchase hair product for my hair. The receptionist was nice as I describe the product to her,a client came up to pay for her service so instead, the stylist took me back to see if it was the right product. It was the right one. I asked the stylist how many can I buy she said there was no limited. I carry three and she help carry two. As i proceed to pay for my products another older stylist came walking by possibly from her break to the check out counter and said "she can only buy 3 it's the rule". I was dumbfounded. I think it was the tone of her words plus the face expression and last but not least her body language. the other stylist and the reception also was stun because they didn't know about the limit. I made a remark and said that no one told me there was a limit. I then said that's fine i'll take three. The receptionist then said that let her call someone to see if it was ok to sell me more than three. Which i though that was very nice for her to do that for me. As i was waiting the older stylist just look at me with those angry eyes of her and proceed to say "that's the rule". Here i am just standing there waiting for the call back. So i just ignore her. As i was waiting the receptionist apologized. About minute past a call came in and the receptionist explain what happen. After the call she said she could only do 3 per customer, which i said was fine. While she rang me up I told her maybe i can have my husband come by because he in the food court. Then I hear the older stylist voice again "only three per family, that's the rule". At this point I was going to give her what I think about here " that the rule remark." But being professional a I thank the receptionist and the stylist that help me carry my product and left. Although JcPenney have good sells sometime I wonder was it worth it. And it doesn't end there. Two week later my family went to the mall again. We like to shop there. Anyway, I decided to stop by tha salon to see if they still have the sale on my product. What the chance of happen twice. Yeah right. Anyway, when i approach the receptionist (different person working then the last time) i sked her if she had the holiday product still on sale she said yes. She asked me how many do i want . I told her whatever the limited was. She said 4. I told here ok. So she walked to the back to grab me four. As she proceed to the front. Guess who followed her to the front. You guess it the older stylist. When she saw me she told the receptionist she can only sell me 3 i been here before. I was speechless. Here i am just standing her waiting to get my items and out of nowhere she pop up what are the chances. The receptionist said the limit is four to the older stylist boy she didn't take it well. She told the receptionist When blank(didn't catch her name) is not here I'm the supervisor and I'm telling you 3. Oh my god i felt so bad for the receptionist. The receptionist then walk away to the back while the older stylist pick up the phone started to call someone. I have no idea what was going on. On the other hand there were 5 or 6 people waiting. then 30 sec later she came back apololized and proceed to ring me up when the older stylist said something to her and then the receptionist told the older stylist to please let her do her job. At that moment the older stylist said that she was going to talk to steve about this which i presume is the manager. At that point i told here i don't want the items because i didn't want her in trouble. She said it's ok. she ring me up. I told her no it's ok i don't want it. I thank the receptionist and left. AFter all said done. I felt that just because your a senior stylist doesn't give you the right to use your title to belittle them. IF your a supervisor then you should have enough sense to pull a person aside to the back and talked to them instead of baggering them in front of customers. I felt so bad for the receptionist that I literally thought I was on the show WHAT WOULD YOU DO. I did look around for hidden camera because this only happen on tv. Just because you a senior stylist doesn't mean it's you store and forget that you are working for the image of JcPenney. Like one would said one bad apple spoiled the batch but in this case the tree.This event shouldn't even happen . You would think that you go in get your product pay for it and leave. By the way on sunday the day of the superbowl in the sundays paper there was a jcpenny ad on salon product that said limited 4 per item. That mean the receptionist was right at least someone know their job. I have to said the two receptionist was great and the stylist that help me carry my product the first time was nice. But i won't come back because of the bas experience.

Like all the rest of the Department Stores, who wants to walk around naked, we still have to put food on the table, we still have to pay taxes, who doesn't know the great perk of working in a Department Store what is your hang up on one where is MontgomeryWards, Oniell's, Woolworth's, We still have to ensure employment for our children, and others. I agree with some of the above reviews - if "O" stars were possible, that is waht they would get. I had an awful experience with the JC Penney salon in Dartmouth, MA this past weekend. AWFUL hair cut and AWFUL color (all they had to do was cover the roots on the color job they had done the month before). Granted, it was my poor choice to go back to the salon after a bad hair cut the month before, but I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. Offered no resolution other than to "come back in a week and the girl will fix it." Let me tell you both the cut and the color were so bad I COULDN'T go anywhere. I went to a different salon the following day and the stylists there were all horrified at the hack job that had been done to me. Sent an email - and of course - no response. I will NEVER AGAIN go into a JC Penney.
