You, as an organization, have shown great strength and courage by not kowtowing to the groups and individuals who were pressuring you to remove Ellen Degeneres as your spokesperson. She is a fine, upstanding American who, I'm certain, will do you proud. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for not letting hatred, bigotry and unfounded fear win out. We, as Americans have a long way to go before all of our citizens are truly equal, but you can be proud to say you did your part and stood up to the bullying. Bravo! You have my support and sincere appreciation.

I haven't shopped at JC Penny since my mother took me there for school clothes....20+ years ago. Yesterday I went to your location at Woodfield mall. I opened a charge card and did a bit of shopping. And gave my daughter the card to do some on line shopping when I got home. She was shocked at the cool clothes...who knew JC penny was so fashionable. Thanks to the ridiculousness of those million moms I would never have done that. I'm supporting JC Penny because they are supporting Ellen and dismissing the anti gay jargon. Thanks!!!

It is sad to see the response from people slamming Ms. DeGeneres' lifestyle; I can't understand why this country won't grow up. I will go to JC Penney's today. My son loves your store, and he's a teenager, so I think that says a lot. And I have to say, Lowe's could learn a lesson from you.

When proposition 8 was established in California. The Gay community went after any and all that supported the measure. People were fired and businesses were hounded out of existence. Churches were violated. You see none of this from the average citizen, so JC Penney is playing it safe. If they irritate the Gay community they will not only boycott JCPenney but campaign to have them boycotted by everyone. Flash Mobs in the stores ad probably vandalism. JC Penney is not brave, they just know that average folks are tolerant and Gays are not. Time to stand up, as they were shocked at the Tea Party for actually standing up for what is right in this country. JC Penney you have lost my business.

Uh, JCP I for 1, will never step foot in your stores again, and I will speak loudly against your sodomite ways. I am also calling on God to humble you all the way to a forgotten past. Yes judgment is also a part of the Christian God, tolerance is not His ways! Holiness is! watch and see if your decision to NOT STAY NEUTRAL IN THE CULTURE WARS WILL COST YOU, AND COST YOU DEARLY! I am very disappointed in JC Penney's decision to hire Ellen Degenerous as a spokesperson. I have always thought of this corporation as a family-oriented business. This decision will curtail my shopping and many others who do not care to have our children and grandchildren introduced to such anti-moral ad spokespersons.

Did not realize you chose "Ellen" as a spokesperson for your chain. However, I recently went in to your local store and found the clothing appeared to almost "overnight" looked cheap.....wrinkled.....and I dislike these "cheap" looking signs posted ALL OVER THE STORE....BLUE AND WHITE....telling me the exact price of each section of clothing!!!! Well, that DID IT for me! I have always enjoyed "hunting" for sale prices.....you have truly TAKEN THE BEST OUT OF YOUR STORE....GOING TO BELK...SO YOUR CHOICE IN ELLEN IS A MUTE POINT FOR ME.

JCP has lost my money and the money of anyone who has solid moral values! Ellen does NOT speak for ALL Americans and we do NOT have the same values. Plenty of other places to spend my money at.

I have had a JCP account in the past which I have closed. But I will be applying for a new account as soon as possible. Hats off to JCP for standing up to these bullies. I love Ellen and now I will be shopping more at JCP.

I am a straight woman who has never shopped in J.C. Penney's. Based on the chain's stand supporting its selection of Ellen DeGeneres in the face of hateful bigotry, I will make it a point to find one on Long Island and make a nice, big purchase. Thank you, Penney's for standing strong. DeGeneres seems like a smart and kind person, who will make an excellent spokesperson for your brand,

I will never shop at J. C. Penney because you have obviously chosen your clientele to be homosexuals and I am not one of them. Ellen is a sick person who is supported by sick institutions like Penney's and Hollywood and the lamestream media in this country which support everything perverse and sick. Shame on you for taking Penney's (and the livlihoods of thousands of your employees) down a road to economic failure.

Just came to share my support of Ellen as a new JCP spokesperson. The LGBT movement is this generation's Civil Right's movement and as the years pass and we as a nation grow older and wiser, we will remember that JCP supported Ellen, not because she is gay, but because she is a caring, lovely human being that just might sell some product. We will remember, and our current and future children will know and remember, so go JCP! Also - and this I found quite amusing - as of my writing, there are no less than 6 "negative" comments regarding Ellen and JCP, and 4 of them are 5 stars. How queer.

Hats off to JC Penney for standing their ground and choosing Ellen as their spokesperson. Funny how the 1-star reviews here seem to predominantly come from Christians who talk about how this allegedly perverted woman would never have been allowed to represent the company in the good old times. Well, more power to JC Penney and all the people who think with their brains and feel with their hearts instead of their bibles. Let them cut up their store cards, at least we can be sure that as the good citizens that they are, they will put them in the correct recycling bin.

Thank you Penney's. Ellen is such an inspiration. She is one of the most caring compassionate people in this world..how dare these haters call themselves moms or Christians. I am sorry for the children of those "million moms" to grow up in a family of haters. I only hope that these children can grow up with their own morals and not their mothers. Thank you J.C. Penney for not bowing to a group that supports intolerance. Our country has worked so hard to grow in tolerance and understanding but obviously we still have a long way to go. Our country was founded on principles of freedom that some feel are the rights of a chosen group. There are many Christians who don't share the ideas of the "Mom" group. We are practicing the love that Christ proclaimed.

I wrote last evening about my stand on what you have done by hiring Ellen for your spokesman. Are you descriminating, because I do not see my post on your site. I am probably the only one that quoted a Scripture about this behavior and after all, God did write the Scriptures through his prophets. Do you now have something against our Creator? I will quote this again in Romans Chapter 1 Verses 26-28 "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections; for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature; and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiveing in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient". This says it all for me, for my husband and I have been shopping at your stores ever since we got married 54 years ago and we would be doing God our Creator a dis-service by shopping at a store that has now lost their morals. This is sinful for you to do this and I would not want to be in your shoes in the day of judgment. There is hope for these homosexuals and they can be forgiven like any sin that someone has committed before they accept Christ as their personal Savior. We spent alot of money at Christmas for gifts at your store and now if we had only known about what you were about to do, we would have shopped at Sears. May God help this Nation of ours for we are becoming Sodom & Gomorrah.

WOW! I have never shopped at JC Penney but I will now! I as well as my entire extended family were thrilled to hear the CEO defend Ellen. The new AD campaign is a 10! You may lose a small amount of customers whose beliefs will be completely outdated in a few years! You will enter a new time of acceptance from the global new market evolving in the U.S. Congratulations!

I also applaud J.C.Penney for having the courage to stand up for Ellen DeGeneres as their spokesperson, and for not giving in to this so-called group of "Moms." Ellen is a funny, talented, bright woman who is a great choice to represent your company. I will go out of my way to shop Penney's more often in the future to support your good sense. My recommendation is that Ellen and the Million Moms have a "dance-off" and watch who's the best!

JC Penney's, stand proud for exhibiting integrity and good conscience. Ellen DeGeneres explemifies what is good about people, she is honest, exhibits kindness, is respectful of others and handles adversity with humor. Selecting her as a spokesperson demonstrates that Penney's will continue it's century year old tradition as a retailer meeting the needs of the American public.
