I do not like the new look that JC Penneys has taken on. I liked shopping with the coupons, door busters, and specials. The new everyday pricing is not a bargin. I use to buy all my clothes at Penneys but will now go where I can get the best bargin. The store is not inviting and I will not be shopping there. I even went to the optical department for glasses. I shopped at Penney's for over 34 years and what a disappointment it has become. I do like Ellen as a spokes person but not the everyday pricing.
If there was a 0 star rating...I would give it. This rating has nothing to do with Ellen as the new spokesperson (I love Ellen) or even the new pricing system and now no coupons....this rating has to do with how the company is treating their employees. Jcpenney wants to rid their stores of full time associates so they do not have to give them benefits and now they are laying off countless people in order to save money and line their pockets in the process. Life is hard enough without having to worry about how to make ends meet or worry about insurance. I know that the new CEO and other big wiggs at JCPenney cares nothing about the little people and that's a shame. One day they will have to answer for what they are doing! They are GREEDY and I will no longer shop there!
Hmmm, I work at a Penney's store, and have for a few years. I am a 25 yr old heterosexual female Christain. I read my Bible and take it literally and try to follow it, and model my life after it's teachings. I understand that the Bible teaches homosexuality as a sin. However, there are many other sins. Many! In fact I catch myself in my own sin EVERYDAY! For all have fallen short of the glory of God! And you may think that some sins are worse than others? But who is the judge? Not me. Not you. And thank goodness for that. Because we are man, biased, sinful, unworthy of that power. Thats why God is God. The Alpha and Omega, the All Powerful, All Knowing, King of Kings, Lord of Lords. Why would I ever claim that I would be the judge for he is the only one who can read the human heart. And I take peace in that knowledge. I am hurt by those who are spewing hate in the name of Jesus. It is so opposite of him. It's not him or his basic teachings at all, and so far from his word. Was it not he who came and saved the thieves beside him on the cross? Was it not him who hung out and saved the prostitutes and murderers? He loves everyone, and teaches us to love every one. To hate the sin but love the sinner. For are we not all sinners? That's kind of the whole point of him being perfect and separates us from him, since he is the only one who was ever without sin. I am not saying to give Penney's and Ellen all of your money. However the people that choose to say such awful things and put Christ's name behind it make me sad and I feel like they don't know Christ at all.
I am so disappointed now with your new concept. You have outpriced the folks who normally shopped at your stores. I was at first excited to see some really good prices on some girls plus shorts only to look a little more closely...I bought those same shorts last summer for $2 cheaper on clearance in the store!! It is more financially beneficial for me to shop at stores like Kohls & belk who have awesome sales!!!
Are people really this ignorant ? Do people choose to be hetrosexual ? Do people choose to be born a man or a woman, or to have brown eyes or blue eyes or brown skin or white skin ? People just are born the way they are born. A certain percentage of the population is all born different and we all have to live on this earth together and to try and be happy while on this earth together. If you don't want to marry someone of the same-sex because you were not born with that desire as being natural to you than guess what, it is America and we are suppose to be free and you don't have to marry the same-sex. What a concept ! Freedom of choice ! If any of my kids are gay, family or friends I want them to all be happy and live their life the way the are most happy and fulfilled. I would love them and be apart of their life no matter what. I would want them to have the right to marry any person that they wish to and be who they are and not afraid and not discriminated against. Kelsi, you seem to know what the true meaning of being a real Christian is, it is a shame that so many people in our country and the world are no longer trying to become more like Jesus with regard to loving one another, being kind, generous, not judging, compassionate and forgiving to all. That was what I was taught at a young age both in church and from my parents and it has allowed me to have a beautiful life filled with a great family and wounderful friends and has allowed me to do great work in many areas of life with groups and other people. It is apparent that many who call themselves christians just seem to like to use that name for many purposes other than to actually be a true repesentation or do God's work each day as he would if standing next to us showing us. I had not been in JC Penney's for over 10 years and as a result of Ellen and the Million Moms negative standing I have now gone twice this month and bought for myself and others in show of support. I will continue to do so ! Great job Ellen and JC Penney for sticking by her decision and yours.
I have been a loyal customer for countless years and due to my profession, I am continuously purchasing your dance tights. At least 4 to 6 pair every two weeks. I have just recently been back in to make the routine purchase and was shocked to discover you increased the price by $4.00 per pair!!!!! NOT HAPPY! As I have been a dedicated customer for years. In addition, your price increase for this item (and everything else you inflated) is not a smart business move on your part. You are tampering with employees of an industry that will gladly take their business to specialty shops such as Capezio for the quality and cost. Since you have increased your price by 40% in economic times that are not conducive to the structure of incomes, we will no longer be giving you the business we did before. Since your pricing has increased we will be shopping at those specialty shops and paying for the quality of product and personal service. Not to mention incentive to shop. For these stores offer a "free" product after you purchase a certain amount. This helps us save money, that you will not be receiving! Sincerely, Disappointed Ex-customer
In December, I was able to get my hair cut for $28.00. When I recently called for an appointment, I was told that the price of a haircut is $36.00, but that blow drying is included. I do not blow dry my hair. It's naturally curly, so I let it air dry. So, Penney's is forcing me to spend $8 on a service I don't want and won't use. I will not use Penney's hair salon again. That's very bad practice, to increase the price by about 28%, and include in that price a service people might not want. Bye, bye J. C. Penney. You won't be seeing me again.
JCPenney has got to be one of the worst places to work. They treat their employees like crap. You cannot file a complaint with human resources because there is no access. As for what they are doing with the store, many prices have gone up. Big and Tall went up. So many things are selling for more than what they were all year last year. They are NOT bargain prices. And another thing about employees - if you have a sick kid, tough luck. You can get fired if you call in. But the managers get to do whatever they want and they sure as heck have their faves. I've seen blatant racism, too.
Thank you JCP for standing by your choice to have Ellen be a spokesperson for the store. I am sure she was chosen because she is warm, caring, funny and many people enjoy seeing/hearing her. I would not want to patronize a store that judges people for their lifestyle choices and is exclusive to who they will serve. The "Christian" moms that are speaking out would do well to remember a time in history where Christians had to give each other a secret sign because if their beliefs were known, they would be outcast and put to death. Thank goodness we don't want to go back to these times and can value people for who they are. My family will continue to shop and recommend JCP as a great store for all!
With so many people with values that we want out children to emulate, I do not understand why a reputable store like JCP would go out of its way to select someone who espouses not only extra-marital co-habitation, but homosexual relations. This country is coming to its end very quickly. We are leaving a horrific legacy for our children. I have closed my long standing account with JCP and I will not shop there any longer. I pray that others with the ability to think will do likewise.
I do not like the new pricing and the way the store looks(cold like ice). You have turned yourself into a upscale looking creature. All of my friends are commenting how the homey feeling is gone. The bargains gone. The $10.00 coupon that pulled me into the store is gone. I dislike Macy and now you have turned into Macy. We like the crowded aisles. The treasure hunt. The signs on top of the clothes. The prices are not lower but higher. Go back or your loyal customers will disappear or go to Macy's store, since now you are the same. People will be saying I don't like JCPenny! Fire the person that came up with this and ask your long time employees what they think. They will tell you the truth. If JCP is not JCP when what is it?
I applaud you JC Penney! I'm ecstatic that you stood behind your (excellent!) choice of Ellen DeGeneres as your spokesperson. As I read through some of the previous comments, I'm saddened by the hate and ignorance spewed by some people. I have never been a regular shopper at your store, but I will be now!!!!!!!! I look forward to purchasing clothes for my family and items for my home. I plan on encouraging all my other mom friends to shop at JCP as well. Thanks again for standing up to the bullies!!!!!!!
... and I wanted to respond to "Anne" who said "...shoppers now have to deal with inappropriate homosexual items such as leather thongs with rhinestones..." SERIOUSLY??? Like straight folks (i.e. heterosexuals) don't ever wear thongs? Your post made me laugh out loud! Then it made me sad, because it show how deeply ignorant you are. And ignorance is very dangerous. Please open your heart and mind to things that you do not undersand. And by all means, educate yourself!
Shame on JC Penny co,for choosing Ellen Degeneres as your spokesperson. I will no longer shop at your store.
I just left JCP as well, and agree with "tr", the store now has a cold feel to it and whoever came up with this pricing strategy obviously doesn't understand the bargain shopper and how we live for sales(real or imagined). I was not impressed at all with the new concept. I do however support your decision to stand with Ellen against those filled with hate. What happened to the Christian teachings of loving thy neighbor, it didn't say but not the gay neighbors. Oh, well I suppose that's the way it is.
I shopped at the Lakeline Mall store in Cedar Park, Texas, last night and was appalled at your "new" concept. It is not a new concept as Sears tried it and look where Sears has gone. I haven't shopped at Sears in years. The Penney's store has a cold, vacant feel and as I usually purchase my clothes there (Alfred Dunner), I checked out your everyday prices on Alfred Dunner brands. The everyday prices are Alfred Dunner's usual prices. However, in the past I purchased them at Penneys and Macy's when they were on sale at 40-50% off. Why do you think I would be so dumb to purchase my clothes at original price when I can go next door and buy them at Macy's at 50% off? I love to purchase my bed linens and towels when Penney's has their quality linens on sale but that will not be available to me now as I can't afford your everyday prices. I have been a long time shopper at Penney's but I will not shop there now. Your new CEO has ruined the JC Penney brand.
Thank you JC Penney for standing up to the people who hate in the name of God. I'm sure He is more saddened by their ignorance than by anything else. I really respect the stand you have taken and hope that other companies will follow suit.
It scares me, that now that J.C. Penny's has decided to continue working with an admitted homosexual lesbian named Ellen D., will shoppers now have to deal with inappropriate homosexual items such as leather thongs with rhinestones, advertised in those newspaper adds, and boldly in the store for children to see? Keeping Ellen as spokesperson will only cause the fall of J.C. Penny. Give homosexuals an inch and they will want a yard. What is our country coming to? It was originally based on Christian and Godly values. I am never shopping at Penny's again.
You have got to be kidding. This new change is detrimental to shoppers. Many of your items are higher than they were before your change in February. I have shopped at your store for more than 20 years. No longer! Not only have your raised your prices but you now carry less in your store than you did before. My husband can no longer find a good selection of Big & Tall clothing. Also, the jeans I paid $15.00 on sale are now $35.00. In addition a sales person told me you are trying to be like Nordstrom with your new sales catalog and new shopping bags. Sorry, but you will never be Nordstrom. The quality at Nordstrom is much better, their customer service is exceptional and when they have sales their prices are lower than your are.
Zero stars for JC Penney! They're new policy of no full time associates makes me sick! My 72 year old mother now has to go on medicaid because after 30 some years on the job, she is now losing the few benefits she had. Not to mention you are putting her and others in a bind by cutting their hours in half. Thanks for raising prices and cutting benefits and hours to your loyal employees. Since you have no loyalty to your employees, I will have no more loyalty to your store. I will not shop at JC Penney again.
