We are active, elderly people who have watched the JC Penny corporation slowly drop into a great family shopping store to a once-a-week newspaper advertising insert with pictures that don't even interest us in buying for our grand-children. I now call it the JCP teeny bopper picture ad. First, you closed my retail store and replaced it with some type of JC Penny outlet full of items that might sell here before they were donated to charity. I do not want to drive to the next closest store because the teeny bopper ad is for young kids. Second, I have decided to take the "new JCP" off my list of even going there or looking on-line for anything. I certainly hope that other sales organizations don't go that route because the big box stores have brought me back to shopping the local guys you all tried to put out of business over the years.
In Jan 2011 my then fiance purchased a wedding set including a solitaire & wedding band wrap. They were sent off & sized, came back perfect. June 23, 2012 we were married and after wearing both rings together I noticed that the little gold tabs on the bottom of the wedding band tabs that were added to keep it from slipping were uncomfortable. We took the set back to our local JCPenney store in Rolla, MO where the purchase was made. The set was sent for "repair" to move each one closer to the center, on our care plan Jul 14, 2011. The solitaire was sent along to ensure proper fit after repair. I had the wedding band on my hand exactly 3 weeks. The rings were due back by Aug 4, 2012. I gave them until Aug 8 to leave room for a few days late when I called. I was told one ring was missing. After several phone calls I finally squeezed out of the store manager that it was my solitaire. To date after more calls back & forth then only calls from me the only information I can get is that they are trying to exhaust every avenue trying to track it down before they 'make good' on it. Also to date after several requests I have yet to receive my wedding band back & keep getting told that they will send it back....but no date or time frame. We're fed up...how can they do business like this?
I really enjoy shopping @ your store. I usually buy most of my Christmas presents there for the people on my list and for myself as well. I've told more than a few people what good deals I feel I've gotten. I enjoy my shopping time @ the JC Penney store in Kalamazoo MI and the one in Mishawaka IN as well as shopping on line (my fav). I will NOT however be spending another dollar in any of your stores as long as you carry anything having to do with Michael Vick. Shame on anyone supporting this person and the evil that he perpetrated over and again. You have lost my business along with everyone else I can turn from your store. I'm only one person but I do NOT stand alone in this matter.
Between the anorexic child models you are plastering your "skinny jeans ads" with, the complete lack of taste or any semblance of modesty in the clothing for CHILDREN or adult clothing and the poor quality in this merchandise, I think it's time to admit that you can no longer be considered a quality store. I didn't ask for your products to be dirt cheap. I asked for good quality, long-wearing, less TRENDY, more stylish garments in colors and fabrics that could help me define my own sense of fashion. Ever consider more travel knits, for example? I don't know why I'm even bothering with a suggestion. It doesn't matter if you do once in a blue moon manage to put something on the site that does look like it has potential. It will be "temporarily out of stock" anyway. This has been the case for the past 2 solid YEARS. Do you want to know why sales are down? It's not your prices. It's your AVAILABILITY. If it's not there, we can't buy it. If you leave us only garbage, we'll simply go to another store. Trying to force us to take your more steeply marked-down items is just insulting. And for the record, should you actually read this, next time you throw jeans on the entire family in an ad, you sell belts, too. Tops and "playful" jeans that look like car-washing rags in one ad, just made me scratch my head in disbelief. Today I opened what will hopefully be my last email from you, as I have finally had enough and unsubscribed. It was a panel of "womens" (yeah, right!) underwear and ridiculous bras that would not fit an adult human being, that in total combined manufacturing costs appeared to be worth about $1.50. This is including the pair of panties that proudly displayed the word "flirt" across the behind. What happened to you? This used to be a family store. Is your comment on society that every member of the family should behave as if they have the morals of alley cats? You may be right, but I don't need to pay you to display the downfall of our society. I'm done. I have unsubscribed to your emails. I'll go looking should I decide I need new sheets or towels in the future. I just bought a set of Royal Velvet Sheets and they are fantastic. And just why is it that you can offer exceptional sheets, but not decent ready-to-wear items?
JC Penny I found out is a member of ALEC, a right wing group to support voter suppression, privatizing public education so good education is only available to the rich, polution, private prisons, union busting, and in general oligarchy in place of democracy. I used to think highly of JC Penny--No more! I urge people to tell JC Penny to stop supporting ALEC.
If I wanted to shop at Nordstroms I could at another mall. But I loved the old-style at my nearby JCP, so easy to find things with a huge selection from which to choose. I and my friends do not like your "upscale" changes to what once was a "family store". I do like your new furniture selections and housewear dept. But the womens apparel is not acceptable. The "store" design and the merchandise is not what we conventional shoppers want. Please rethink your new merchandising and understand better the clientel you serve. Lee Ann Wolfe , author
I HAVE SHOPPED AT JC PENNEY FOR YEARS.MY HUSBAND AND I ARE HARDWORKERS,WHO RAISED OUR CHILDREN TO BE RESPONSIBLE HARDWORKERS AS WELL. MY DAUGHTER WHO WAS HIRED AS A COLLEGE STUDENT HAS RECENTLY ENTERED A CHANGE OF HER AVAILABILITY DUE TO HER COLLEGE SCHEDULE FOR THE FALL SEMESTER.(LET ME ADD THAT SHE WAS WORKING A FEW 6 TO 10 SHIFTS LAST SEMESTER.) SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE COMPANY NO LONGER HAS HOURS FOR HER. THAT EVEN WORKING THE WEEKENDS SHE WOULD BE TAKING HOURS FROM OTHER ASSOCIATES. I DONT UNDERSTAND IF SHES GIVING UP MOST OF HER HOURS HOW SHES AFFECTING OTHERS. SHOULDNT WE ENCOURAGE YOUNG ADULTS TO CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION,INSTEAD OF HAVING TO STRUGGLE JOB SEARCH AS WELL AS SCHOOL WORK. NOT TO MENTION THE ADDED STRESS OF PAYING FOR BILLS WITH NO INCOME. SHE HAS BEEN FLEXIBLE WITH THEM CHANGING HER HOURS AT THE LAST MINUTE. I FEEL NOT ONLY HAS THE SHOPPING ATMOSPHERE CHANGED BUT THAT THE COMPANIES CARING FOR THEIR WORKERS NEEDS AS WELL. IN THE WORLD NOW THERE ARE FEW HARD WORKERS THAT PUT UP WITH A CRAPPY EMPLOYER, SO JCPENNY SHOULD APPRECIATE THE ASSOCIATES AND WORK WITH THEM. WHAT HAPPENED TO FAIR AND SQUARE?
I placed this order on line, for pick up at Store # 1212 (CIII Mall). The issues I had are as follows: (1) Telephone message instructed me to pick up at the store. The pick-up counter no longer existed in Store #1212. (2) The cashier had to leave her station to retrieve my package from where the pick-up counter used to be. (3) I did not see my order's receipt until after she rang up my order. It was then I noticed I was charged $8 for shipping, which is supposed to be free for store pick-ups. (3) The cashier didn't know how to refund the $8 (she also didn't know there wasn't supposed to be a shipping charge), so she called her manager. (4) We waited several minutes for manager Carmen to make his appearance. (5) Carmen said nothing, in the form of a greeting, when he arrived at the register. (6) He made 2 or 3 attempts to remove the $8 charge for several more minutes, finally using a different register and telling the cashier to reboot the one he had been using. (7)Then he said to me, "I have to go in the back to print up your receipt." I had already waited a total of 17 minutes for this failed transaction and was not about to wait for him to saunter to and from the back room with my receipt. I told him to cancel the entire order. Question: If he could print the receipt from that cash register when cancelling the order, why couldn't he print the $8 receipt? If this is the manner in which Penneys is going to handle deliver-to-store orders, it is grossly mismanaged. Who thought up this ridiculous procedure? I want the tee shirts I ordered but will now have to have them sent to my house. After all this nonsense today, with my pick-up order, I feel you should comp the $8 shipping charge. I will look forward to your response.
I used to go to JCP about twice a month and it was my favourite store. My friends and I live in Canada and considered it worthwhile to travel to the States to shop. I hate the store now. It is like a cheap resale shop and has hardly any customers anymore. The place is cluttered and unappealing and it is hard to find shop assistants. Imagine in the underwear dept when a women needs to be measured for a bra, there is no one there to help her!! Today was supposed to be one of the two Fridays when there are special sales. 3 of us walked out with nothing. This will be the last time that we go there. Then we went to Kohls. It was alive and vibrant compared to JCP. RJ, you have obviously never asked how women want to shop. I filled in your survey months ago and predicted how awful your store would become. Maybe we need a female CEO. Bye bye JCP. Never again will I waste my time with you. : (
Never thought I would see a good store like Penneys fall, so fast. Its a waste of my time and gas to even go there any more. They seem to be purposely committing retail suicide. Bankruptcy is in their future.
I thought the free kids hair cut was an amazing idea. So I made an appointment for my son, was Thur Aug 16 at 2:00 pm. I arrive at said app at 1:45(15min early). A lady in front of me at the counter had just arrived for her 1:30 app at the same time (15 min late). We were both told our app was with Tom who was at lunch still. [ * why not hook app around someone's lunch, so we don't have to sit and wait our time is important also. *]. She leaves. I decide to wait. At 2:00 I go back up to counter to remind them that if Tom was back we were waiting. I watch prob 5-7 kids go back and leave. I sit (patiently) waiting its now 2:40. I go back up to counter. Tell the women "working " the counter how long I've been there all the womans says is "that's ashame" Finally I left. Trust I will NEVER go back or even shop at JC Penny again. And I will post my experience on FB and anywhere else poss. Thanks for waisting my time. Stacey Herrington herringtonmobile@yahoo.com
i recently wrote an email to jcp customer service to express my digust that the store will soon be selling Michael Vick merchendise. I informed them that I am sickened by this and will no longer be shopping at jcp. here is the email response that i got: "we appreciate you feedback. jcp feels the Michael Vick brand embodies quality, leadership, inspiration and possibility and we intend for his products to be a key centerpiece of our new strategy to transform jcp into America's favorite store. Sincerely, Mike, Customer Care Team Member" This email will be forwarded to headquarters by me. I hope they don't agree with "mike". If you love animals or are even a little bit human, please dont shop jcp. Vick is a criminal and dog killer. no more jcp.
Store number 2976 in Wv is horrible. They are not doing there job correctly. Mainly the management. They have been giving me the run around about an online purchase that they ordered for me at the register. I have been waiting over 2 months on my money back. I should never have this issue. The managers said there was nothing they could do for me that online catolog had to handle this but when I talked to online catolog they said that the store manager should have done this. I just want my money back! Unexceptable! I am still getting the run around.
When I used to think of JC Penney I thought of family values and a family store. Your support of the homosexual agenda has caused me to reconsider. We won't be shopping in your stores.
If I could post a zero rating, it would be a double zero. I absolutely HATE the new JCP. I can not tell you how many times I have tried to buy something in your "new store" and have walked out every time. Your store used to be my favorite store. I could always depend on J.C. Penney's to find what I was looking for, and always ended up buying something even if I was just browsing. NOT NOW. The quality of your clothing is deplorable. You may be carrying the same brands, but it is the lowest grade of quality in each brand. Most of us loved shopping the sales and yours were always the best. You don't have sales so why bother going into the store. Going into your store now is like going into the old Walmart. As a matter of fact, the new Walmart is now beginning to outshines you in many many products. Your TV ads are awful. You spent years getting out of the "El Cheapo Clothing group" i.e. Sears, Target, Walmart, K-Mart,Mervyns, Montgomery Wards, etc and finally established yourself as an affordable department store that carried quality clothing and was just one step lower than Macy's (who for some reason decided that they were another Nordstrom's). Judging from most of the comments on the J C Penney timeline page, I am not alone in thinking that you have failed the middle class people. Wake up investors, Penneys lost millions because they are selling substandard products at inflated prices. You shouldn't have tried to fix what wasn't broken. Penney's in its present form will be out of business in the very near future. PLEASE PLEASE GIVES US BACK THE OLD J.C. PENNEY'S
I have shopped at Penneys so little lately, I was unaware of the gay/lesbian issue. My issue is that I can no longer find any clothes I would have. Your buyers are targeting the 12-18 age group. I used to go to Penneys because I could always find classic styles and colors made from quality fabrics; that is no longer true. I now shop at Dillards. They still have a few lines I am not embarrassed to wear. We seniors have plenty of money to spend but we refuse to wear the ridiculous clothes you are carrying. I can find better quality at Wal-Mart. I would be willing to pay higher prices if I could find better clothes. Maybe you could try a classic department and see how successful it is.
I used to shop at Penneys all the time, but since they reinvented themselves, I never go there. This is August and my last charge at J. C. Penney's was in January. They wonder why their stock is down? Nobody's going there any more! They sink a lot of money into their slick sales ad that comes in the Sunday paper, but it doesn't have any sales and the merchandise pictured you can get anywhere and cheaper. What happened to John's Bay jeans and slacks? And the few times I've gone into the store to look, they are spending more money remodeling. Why remodel when you're about to go out of business?
I do not care if JC Penneys has the best products and best prices in the world I am offended that they would pander to 1- 2 % of the population and offend 75 million born again Christians who are convinced that perversion and homosexual behavior is sin and is an indication that our society is crumbling under our feet. There is rock solid evidence that moral absolutes do exist. If moral absolutes did not exist then who could say that Hitler was wrong and Martin Luther King was right. Absolute morals do exist and cannot be refuted. I will stop my family from shopping at Penneys and urge my friends to do the same. The founder of JC Penneys would be beyond saddened at the direction this group of moral relativists have taken the company he worked so hard to start.Jesus is Lord of all!
Wake up you Corporate Morons , I will never shop at JC Pennys again wow you really screwed this up. The stores have horrible merchandice. JC Pennys shopper for 40 years.
heres my letter to the ceo In searching for information on who to address my formal complaint to, I came across a caption that I am sure that you are familiar with. "Will Ron Johnson transform J C Penney?" Well, Mr. Johnson, your performance reminds me of another President that held the promise of change out to us....and now that we have had time to evaluate we can all see that there was a transformation all right....straight downhill. Having spent many thousands of dollars shopping at Penny's, I would have rated their customer service a 7 or 8 a few years ago. It is now a ZERO. In fact. I will no longer do business with your company. Putting up with your cart and pony show on Father's Day which reminded me of an insecure child screaming for attention, eliminating most of your sales, screaming out for more attention with Ellen...all of these ridiculous attention craving schemes I could have dealt with if , at the end of the day i felt like I was able to purchase quality goods at a reasonable price while dealing with a professional team. Alas, it appears that so much of your energy is being spent hollering "Look at us" , that the running the business part has gone out the door along with a steady flow of loyal customers. I ordered several hundred dollars worth of blackout blinds several weeks ago. Two of the blinds were made properly. the other two were defective. The blackout spray that was used was uneven and there were blotches of light that showed through. I called customer service and was told that they would send out two more. I was afraid that they would be defective and asked that they check them first and was assured that they would. the next two were also defective, which didnt surprise me as I was sure that the entire shipment of those blinds were defective..i returned those and ordered two more . The return was made on 8/14/2012. This time when I ordered she said that she would fill out a form and that a manager would double check them. Now on my 4th order arrives , exactly the same. In addition, to this day i have not received my money back for the return on the 14th. When i call customer service , I am told that they will contact the dept that handles that. I finally received a call from a heavily accented woman that told me that there was nothing she could do that I would have to call the store. When i protested she put me on hold and never came back. She never bothered to call me back either. I have never heard of such a thing in my life...SHE IS CUSTOMER SERVICE. in the past, working with Pennys. the people were very helpful, now noone wants to do anything but pass the buck. i called back in and told a representative my entire problem I said that I need to order a thousand blinds so that i could go through every one and find two non defective ones. The idiot asked me what credit card I would like it on. i said, Really? Dont you get it? Im FORCED to do this because I cannot get ONE employee at Pennys to step up to the plate and check the product before it is mailed out. Silence....Ok, can you give me a supervisor? I fully expected a higher IQ if i went up the food chain. not at Penneys. I told her the whole story and when i got to the part of the thousand blinds she said the same thing, how would I like to pay for it. I encourage you to take a moment to listen to the recordings. Ultimately after I chastised her for not finding another solution, the light went on and she said that she was going to do this and that and this and that and I was going to receive those blinds and they would not be defective. She even offered me a generous 20% discount . That was several days ago. Not a word, no blinds so i called Custoner service. "Oh that order was cancelled". Huh? what do you mean no way...."Yes apparently whoever took your order set it up for you to pay at the store and we dont do that any more so it was cancelled". "Why didn't anyone bother to call me? I DID NOT have it set up to pay at the store it was to be charged on my credit card just like the last 4 times" No reply. Her supervisor verified the cancellation. No apologies, no regrets. Just ""tough luck Lady". That was the attitude. Oh, But HIS supervisor could call me if I wanted....Tamika. I knew that Tamika was';t going to do jack. i have explained my frustrations at this point to 12 people and the results were all the same. No point in making it 13 I'll save my breath. I have come to the conclusion that i cannot ever do business with Penneys again. I refuse to. At this moment, I have two good blinds, two defective blinds, Penneys has $120.00 of my money that they still owe me and they refuse to return.I have spent HOURS on the phone. I have spent hours driving to Penneys to return blinds, I have spent who knows how much money on gas returning these defective blinds, i do not want ANY of these blinds . I am done. I have never in my life worked with such poor customer service across the board. I plan to return the four that I have but I am afraid that they will take them and not give me a refund like they did the last time. Well at least we know the answer, "Yes, Mr. Johnson DID transform JC Penney".
