I can't believe how terrible the service has gotten at Penney's over the last year or so. I ordered a floor lamp on line on August 31, delivery supposed to be in 4-7 business days. It was supposed to be delivered to the store for pickup. After not receiving a call saying it was there, i called the 800 Customer Service number. they said the lamp had either been delivered to the store damaged or they had been shorted the delivery....first time I had heard it. The store hadn't called me. The very nice person at customer service reordered the lamp and arranged to have it sent to my store. Today I received a call saying the lamp was there at the store. When I called them she said yes, it was there. I explained that the lamp had been reordered and that I didn't want to pay for 2 lamps. She said "oh no, you won't pay for 2 and this is going to be delivered to your home". I wait with bated breath both to see whether or not I'll get a lamp and whether or not I'll be charged twice.

Today is 9/17/12. Over a year ago, I noticed the St. John's Bay men's knit shirts were made in AFGHANISTAN AND PAKISTAN! I called it to the attention of the sales clerk and any customer within hearing distance. At that time, I also contacted the corporate office at JCPenney, asking "why are we supporting the country who hid Bin Laden from the U.S.?". I never received a response. I urge anyone shopping at JCPenney's to check labels on anything they purchase. I can only guess, JCP doesn't give a hoot about American civilians and military whom have died and will continue to give up their lives just so JCP can save a buck on labor! God Bless America and down with JCPenney!

It is obvious that no one from JCP reads these reviews because the stores continue on their downward plunge. In the Arcadia JCP there are, apparently, no managers because each time I ask to speak with one, there are none available. What a way to run a department store!!!

At 71 I've shopped at JCP for years. But I can not understand your NEW merchandising style. Why, in the new JCP book I just received with the woman on the front with a pencil in her hair, are there NO NUMBERS on the items you are advertising. And, when I called about the Arizona Jean Co., letterman jacket for $35 on page 31, your operator herself couldn't even access the page to get the number. Who are these graphic artists who don't realize that catalog numbers are crucial to sales? Quit trying to be cutsey glamorous, and instead incude the numbeers. Also a great brand you carried is Made for Life. I bought 5 great exercise outfits from this line last year. So I call up to buy something else and find you're DISCONTINUING THE BRAND! You have discontinued so many of my brands that I loved, that now I'm shopping more and more at Nordstrom and Neiman. Yes, I'm an upscale shopper, but I spent lots at PENNEYS for so many brands I've loved. Your new merchandising philosophy is ALL wrong, ruining the brand, and no wonder your sales are down. You've forgotten the age 45-70 + who have plenty of money to spend. IDIOTS ARE MINDING THE STORE.

You stopped carrying womens oxford cabin creek shirts. You have carried them for over 20 years. I won't be shopping JCP anymore.

I live in Northern California but am originally from Southern California where most of my family still reside. I spoke with my sister this weekend and learned of the closure of the JC Penney Store in Downtown San Fernando. How could this be allowed to happen? It had been open over 80 years! It is so unbelievably sad and it makes my heart hurt. I will never, ever again see JC Penney in the same way. Whoever let this happen was just wrong, so wrong. It was a huge mistake.

I just have to vent about the new JCPenney format. I've been a customer for over 20 years. I've decorated my home with their products and I've purchased a ton of clothes for my family there. I absolutely HATE, HATE, HATE the new and not so improved JCPenney. This new CEO just doesn't get it. This is NOT Apple or Target and what works for one store doesn't necessarily work for another. First, I loved JCPenney sales! I always walked away feeling like I got a great deal. The new everyday prices are not a good deal. I used to get Okie Dokie toddler clothes for as little as $3.00 with coupons and sale prices. Their every day price is $3.00 more. Now, I've found that the store no longer even carries Okie Dokie or my much loved St. John's Bay athletic/leisure wear. This new JCPenney is nothing but a shell of it's former self. I used to be a regular customer, now I've only been in the store 3 times since the change and have left without purchasing anything. I will not be returning. I get much better deals and much better selection at Kohl's. JCPenney's would love to have what I spend in that store every year. Thanks to the new CEO, I expect it won't be long before JCP goes belly up and another beloved financial institution goes the way of Strawbridge and Clothier and John Wanamaker's. That makes me really angry and sad. :sigh

I just placed a simple order for a 3-pack of men's boxer shorts. The $18 for the pack isn't horrific on its own. HOWEVER, I then had to make a decision to spend $8 for S&H to my house, or $5 for S&H to the store for me to pick up. Since when do companies charge to ship it to their own store for me to pick it up??? Why should I be punished that JC Penney doesn't stock simple items in their stores??? That is my complaint and feeback. My $18 item came out to $28 with S&H + tax!!!

I don't care for the pricing strategy or the ads. You've completely ignored the "plus size" women's fashions in your ads, and frankly, your buyer for the Woman's department has been choosing very tired and older woman fashion choices. I used to buy Lark Lane fashions which were one of the only good choices for styliish plus size fashion at penny's and now can't find that brand at penny's in Louisville, ky. You're going to put yourself out of business if you don't make some changes.

Today I called the Salon at 915AM at the Startford Square Bloomingdale, Illinois location to make an appointment for a hair cut. I left a message on their answering machine to call me back. I stayed at home until 1045AM and no return call. When I called at 230PM and Spoke with April the Manager in the Salon she stated they had no record of my voice mail. This is really very poor customer service. In addition, the last time I was at the salon they had No one at the front desk answering the phones or greeting customers. The Hairdressers had to stop working on their customers to answer the phone and tend to walk ins. Very poor service, if this continues I promise I will be taking my Salon services elsewhere.

JCPenney has the worse customer service in Florida at the Broward Mall in Plantation. The associate that works in the bedding department is very disrespectful and unethical. The guy had the nerve to come in my face and yell after he lied to me about a rewards card. I really feel that this company needs to hire people that are going to be honest and not take advantage of people. I'm totally disgusted with the company and that particular store. I would have called the police if this customer didn't get him to calm down and out my face. I suggest that people DO NOT shop there because the customer service is beyond crazy.

I have been so disappointed at the direction Penney's is taking.I was brought up as a Penney's shopper, often shopping there with my Mom in the 50's. Then many times shopping for my children's school clothes in the 60's through the 80's. Last month I went to the Penny's store st my local mall. I was shopping for a wedding gift. I had looked it up online before going. Itsaid the gift I had in mind ws in store. Got there and couldn't find it. So after looking for quite awhile for someone to help me, I finally interupted a saleslady who was counting her till. She couldn't even find where in the store to find the wedding registry. It took several people and several phone calls to find it.None of the items listed in store were there. Ended up buying a different gift but I should have just walked out.It was so frustrating. Also hate that you did away with coupons and clearances. I used them often and appreciated the savings since I am a senior on a fixed income. Always loved that you carried petites but found that dept. to be almost none existent. Also I am a Christian and it is an abomination to see Ellen Degenneres as your spokesperson. I will do my shopping elsewhere from now on.

I have shopped at JCP for years and where I live there are not a lot of clothing store options. I would find great deals on clothes for work, and every day. I was disapointed when they changed their sales to every day low prices. The prices are higher, deals are less. I now will travel further to get a better deal. I have calculated my gas, time and wear and tear on my car and it is still a better deal for me to shop other stores. The clothing quality at JCP is the same, and customer service is the same so I have no complaints there. Now we have a Kohl's coming to town across the street from JCP. It will be interesting to see what changes come. I feel the JCP corporation need to take a step back and return their stores to the way they were.

As a long time customer of JCP, I was very unhappy with my experience at your Barton Creek location in Austin, Tx. My grandson had spilled a drink on himself so we rushed over to your store to buy a pair of shorts and some underwear. First off, the store was a mess. I found one pair of boys shorts that were in a size 5T and not South Pole brand (a brand I detest) and no shirts. To make matters worse I paid $15 for 4 pair of Fruit of the Loom underwear that I could have bought at Walmart or Target for $6-$8. The set-up of walking up to the cashier's is ridiculous. I had to wait over 10 minutes to be called. The cashier was as slow as molasses even after I explained that I needed to get my grandson changed. I couldn't agree more with R C Barcos, another unhappy client. about the low quality and high prices. JCP needs to step-up and keep up with the trends. It would benefit you if you hired new buyers. Most of your clothes are hideous.

Why is the store in such a wreck EVERY time I go in there? Why can't there be enough people to work and recover the store!!!!

JCP is not the store it once was. Things have really gone Bad. Not enough checkouts, no sales, and those stupid booklet-flyers. I used to do alot of shopping there but not anymore. This is not something we as woman want. Go back to what you were before. Everyone loves a sale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JCPenney became an awful, cheapy imitation of Target. The quality of everything is way down - shoes, clothing, jewelry, everything. The styles are awful teenage styles that are designed to be worn once and thrown away. I've been shopping there for about 20 years, but no more. No self-respecting woman over 30 would wear this junk! It was good till it lasted but now I wouldn't care if it goes out of business...

My family and I have been loyal customers of JCP for over 25 years. Almost all clothing, many shoes, bedding and many other items were bought there. We tolerated Ellen and the gay-agenda ads but our most recent experience was our last. The checkout clerk was an obvious flamboyant cross dresser. He used an over-the-top sexy voice when over-using the microphone. He was overtly sexual and my family and the teen boys in line were obviously uncomfortable. What bathroom does this MAN in a dress use? Being tolerant is one thing. Supporting insanity with my hard-earned dollars is another. G'Bye JCPenneys.

I made appointments for my two sons to have haircuts during their August Back to school special. Thank you! They did a wonderful job at the Ashland, KY. 41102 store! It became a problem when I asked to tip them on my bank card. I usually don't carry money, a bank card is just easier. Well, the receptionist couldn't help me due to a GLITCH in the system that wouldn't allow a customer to leave an electronic tip due to zero balance on the slip. I call headquarters immediately. The nice lady in Texas said she would make it a priority to get this fixed. Not! I was JCP shopping & stopped by to see if they had fixed this and another customer was have the same experience as I was. Happy with the free haircut, but no way to show our gratitude with a tip for our Stylist that has worked her/his butt off for free this month! Now I see on the TODAY SHOW this morning that you are thinking about continuing this on Sundays, please fix the glitch so this can be a great experience for all. I don't want an unhappy hairdresser working on my children. To clarify...the stylist that helped us was wonderful!!! I had to go to the ATM & get money for her tip because her services deserved much more than I could give. I think JCP should give these stylist a large bonus for the underpaid work they've done in August. I will call everyday until this is fixed. If you have had this experience please call with me at #1-972-431-1000 & tell them to fix the glitch & give those stylist a bonus. I am also a wife of 21 years, mother of two, and my husband are overjoyed that JCP supports all families rights! Way to set a great company example for equal opportunities for ALL! Loyal customer since 1991 Peg Fisher

I purchased the Chris Madden Sheets about a year and half ago and with normal use and wash, the sheets developed tears on the bottom sheet which became larger and larger. Now I cannot use the sheet. JC Penney did not make good on purchase because I did not keep the receipt. Since I used my JC Penney credit card, I thought that they could pull up the transaction. I gave the date and store where I made the purchase. I also took the bottom sheet to store to show them the large tears. Nothing was done. I complained to corporate office without sucess. DO NOT BUY CHRIS MADDEN SHEET SET FROM JC PENNEY.
