If you want to boost your business, bring back coupons. I used to shop at JC Penney a few times a month and now a few times a year and my friends tell me they have done the same thing. Some of your products like mens clothing have much better prices on them now, but womens clothing didn't go down very much. Now I shop at Kohls a lot more.
customer
i can not believe what is happening to JCP THE ORGINAL owner would turn over in his grave yes you say prices are lower but the average customer likes a coupon in there hand now i hear that JCP have been down 3 quarters so far it looks to me that your running it to the ground.
Poor treatment of customers
So disheartened! I have had a JCPenney account in excellent standing for 30 years. Never missed a payment! Due to my husband walking out and taking all the money, I missed the last two payments. Called to see if they could work something out with me just for the next couple months. The response I got from a person who spoke the bare minimum of English, was for me to make reduced payments and they would permanently close my account. Really! After thirty years of being my go to store for everything! After thirty years of a perfect credit history! I guess you no longer need my money.
lack of big and tall sizes
I was in your store tonight and could not find the st johns bay brand . The only thing I found was the new jcp brand but the longest lengthen in pants is 33 in any size. I guess you don't think big people would be also tall. This is big mistake I shop your store all the time because could always find something. But now you have lost me.
Sorry Advertizing
My friends, all retired teachers, agree that there is nothing about your current advertising that is attracting customers to your stores. Not everyone has time to search on the internet to learn "what they want". The age of your models does not help your image as a store for the everyman. Get new focus groups and start over with your image.
Positive shopping experience is nonexistent
I used to love shopping at JC Penney. I knew I could go in there and buy quality clothing, and usually at a good price if it were on sale. The new set up has taken the surprise of a good buy and put it in the garbage can. The thrill of the hunt is gone. The selection of brands is poor, and when I did actually find something I liked, there wasn't any stock in my size. Wow, JC Penney - you actually cured me of my will to shop in a store front. To other corporate entities, if you want to find out what not to do to promote your store, follow the lead of JCP.
Go back to the way it used to be.
I am sad to say that there are not many recognizable brands left. I used to always go in and buy something from East5th. I loved that line of clothing for work, now I can't find anything for work there. Alfred Dunner is a line my mother wears glad you still carry that. I looked at the new JCP line of clothing it all looks cheaply made and it's not anything I would wear. Please bring back the brands you have discontinued. You are losing customers who will shop elsewhere. Go back to the way it used to be, the every day low prices are not so low.
love it!
I was suprised by the reviews I just read. I love the new look of jcp and I LOVE the new jcp line for misses! What bright fun colors! The fun colors juniors might wear but in my misses size! I love it!
Are you listening
After reading some of the negative reviews on this page, I would like to add RIGHT ON. I live in a very small community with limited shopping. J. C Penny was my favorite place to shop. I plan to avoid it at all cost from now on... limited merchandise, favorite brands gone, cheaply made items, store looks as if it is going out of business. It was a store for families from great grandma to the brand new baby. Now you are obviously catering to a very limited market. Some things just don't work. Remember "new Coke?"
JcPenney use to be my favorite store. I bought something there (women's clothing) EVERYTIME I went to the mall. I cannot stand it since the change. I've gone back a few times to see if MAYBE I can find SOMETHING I like to wear. I went in yesterday looking for a sweater/jacket from St. John's Bay. The store had carried this item & sold it every year. I was told JcP no longer stocks St. John's Bay. Really? After walking through the women's & teen department, it occurred to me most all the brands/items were "geared" toward teens/20 somethings. Almost like they were trying to compete with Hollister, American Eagle & other "trendy" stores. There is almost NOTHING for ages 30-60. Word to the wise...I have 2 teens & they won't shop JcP just because it's NOT the trend store all the kids want to shop it. On top of that, JcP is LOOSING all the "mom" & older women clients because they is NOTHING FOR US THERE! Very disappointed....
Need to backtrack
Dear J.C Penney Corp. To me Penney's and Sears also Kaufmann's were the American Icon stores including Murphy's & Hill's, etc. This new look and new catalogs? no please try and not use the thick paper and make the catalog too spaced out. The corporation has gone way past recovery unless during the Christmas Season your stores have more old fashioned bargains and looks. try a nice Ad and commercials with SANTA & elves and families around a tree.. you know? Real people not those models and crazy songs your commercials are doing now.It is just too much fancy and not enough regular people..
I use to do all my shopping at JCpenney's before the major change over. My sister, my daughter and I hate the changes that have occurred. I really think you have ruined penney's. I bought all my sweatsuits there because I was able to order talls. Now you don't even carry sweatsuits for women. I know for a fact that they were great sellers because if you did not get them early in the season it was hard to get the color you want. Also I always bought all my pants at penney's because you had talls. I don't know whose bright idea it was to get rid of these things but it was not a good decision. I also think you should bring back the promotions. People like the coupons and rewards. I wish you would consider getting a talls section in your stores like you have petites. Everyone has petites for shorter people and forget that there are alot of women who need talls. I am really disappointed in Penney's the store I use to shop a lot at. You ever got rid of the New Balance shoes I always bought there. Very disappointed!!!!!
Salon
For many years - everything and I mean eveything was purchased from my J C Penney catalog. Clothing, house wares, toys, tools. One of the greatest memories from my childhood was going to the mailbox for the spring/fall catalog. Sad NOW - my local JC Penney Salon (have gone to for years) has changed all the hours - first appointment is now 10:00 AM. Your changes are not in the best interest of those who support you - your loyal customers. Ver disappointed !!!!!!
What has happened to JCP??
I have shopped at JCP since the late 1960's. When they changed their sales policy to "new lower every day prices", I was very disappointed and stopped going there. Recently, I got an email from the CEO encouraging me to try shopping there again. There was a coupon for $10 off a $10 purchase, so I figured I would give it a shot. That visit left me totally depressed!! The JCP I shopped at and loved for decades no longer exists! I wandered around the store for over an hour trying to find something to spend the $10 on. I remembered I had a $5.30 merchandise credit card in my wallet and I decided to make sure I used that too...because I was certain I would never return after that. It was horrible. All of the clothes are SO cheaply made now! I could hardly find a women's top that I wouldn't have to wear a tank top under due to the cheesiness of the fabric. Even the sizes were smaller!! I wear a women's medium....but these clothes seemed to be made for people from another planet! I could barely fit into an XL (and no, I have not gained any weight recently!) I finally settled on an Arizona men's flannel shirt for my husband....I was glad to see a brand that I recognized, because most of my favorites were gone. When I got the shirt home and compared it to one I purchased him two years ago...you guessed it...it was SMALLER, even though they were both size Medium. Also, the fabric was a cheaper grade. What an absolute shame! We are donating the cheap shirt to Goodwill Industries. I am very, very depressed that JCP is no longer a store I can shop at. I did a lot of my Christmas shopping there. With the holidays upon us, I will have to find alternate stores. Even Walmart's quality FAR EXCEEDS what is being sold at JCP!!!
I USED to walk into JC Penney's for one outfit and come out with 20!! And Im not kidding. I always loved their clothes and they USED to fit. I have been shopping there for 25 years. Probably should have owned stock. It was ALWAYS the place to go to as my "go to" place to always be able to find something that I needed. I bought all kinds of boot-cut corduroys (St Johns Bay) and I mean they make a girl look AWESOME! They were soo comfortable and with the little spandex bended with your body. But NO MORE St Johns Bay! Now everything is skinny jeans, skinny this, skinny that. REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES AND THIGHS AND DO NOT LOOK GOOD IN SKINNY CORDUROYS!!! For the past 3 mths I have walked into JC Penney's and come out empty handed. I used to buy oodles of corduroys, thankfully I have some left from last year..but sadly I will have to loose some weight first. And also there would be oodles of sweaters, different styles and shapes to choose from. NOT ANYMORE!! Im going to check out Kohls today maybe I will find items there. THIS IS VERY SAD!
It is Sunday November 4th 2012. I just opened the Sunday paper to find the most appropriate ad from jcp. With the election in 3 days, it showed the American flag, and a mother getting ready to vote with her child. I am a 63 year old shopper, and I love the new look of advertising and merchandising and new look for jc penney. You actually are ahead of your time and on the cutting edge.
JCP must be getting ready t close its' doors. Your customer service department is the worse yet. I have two online orders on October 6, 2012. I went on line to track the order twelve days later to find out the order was dropped, what ever that means. No phone call or nothing. I call CS and they called the warehouse. I was toldthe (Q) number was not right andit will be corrected within 24-hours. I had to reorder through the CS person. She told me they had what I ordered in stock. I was put on hold for a while then told the item was not available to order. This is 10/20/12. The next day I tried to order another item online everything seemed ok, A notice on the order let me know to look for a call around the 4th or 6thh of Nov. to set a delivery date. I got the call today to say the order did not go through it was outof stock. We held you going on vacation a month to get these items before we left. A month have passed with nothing. If you don't have theitems why put themon the site? If you need a supervisor for CS, I will do it my self. if you are not planning to close your doors I highlt suggest you get thing in order.
I will start off buy saying I was working for JC Penney for 6 years. Commission pay was cut, benefits were lost because hrs were cut. They fired all the managers who actually worked and replaced them with young "kids" who will work for less pay...mind you they have NO experiance. I dont know what the hell your doing Mr. Ron Johnson. Stop investing your $on technology like your ipad checkouts (so you can earn your $on your stocks since your the old ceo of apple.) This job made me officially quit retail.
JC Penneys and Ron's new approach towards customers is not good. Just visit the store and look at the long lines at the new customer check outs. Customer check outs used to be scattered through out the store but has been re-engineerd to be more efficient and some customers just give up and leave. I tried to make areturn here in Lexington, Ky at Fayette Mall but could not find my receipt. They offered only a gift card with no cash return. I paid cash and couldn't replace the defective item as the store had no more. OOPs! New (Rons') policy. No receipt, loyal customer, no cash or credit/debit card return. I used the 50.00 gift card on shoes that I didn't need. aother customers didn't like that policy either as they voiced out. No cash/credit return, no more a Penney's customer. fire Ron ande return the coupon's, specials and change the policy for the customers and maybe you'll see more profits next Christmas.
Over the years my wife and I have noticed a problem with your stores that has caused both of us and a number of friends to stop shopping at your stores and it is customer service. A rotten attitude by all employees is pervasive in the approximatley ten stores I have visited, Recently we moved to Richmond and needed to order window treatments for our new home. In 2 of your Richmond stores we stood there for 30 minutes waiting for someone to at least aknowledge us. No luck. We went to Lowe's and ordered $6000 worth of shutters being installed today. I am sure this is small potatoes to you but that would fit in with your stores general attutude. I am only writting this because I hate to see any American company going under.
