Disappointed
I have shopped online with JCPenney on several occassions. Normally I shop in store however being a caregiver is difficult. I recently called customer service to request my statement. I was informed that the statement had been sent out on that week. It is now two weeks later and no statement as of yet. Earlier this year I was charged a late fee due to Jcpenney error of not sending a statement until a month after bill was due. I the consumer should not be held accountable for their error. I will once more to request statement, however it is responsibility of JCPenney. I have not been pleased at all.
Customer Service Has Issues
Good afternoon. I am actually a fan of your new marketing philosophy and as a result have been shopping JCP more frequently, both in the store and online. However, I think one of your biggest issues is with customer service. My first example is with the recent double billing that went out. I received two bills early in November, and it took two phone calls to figure out what was going on. On the first call, the representative did not seem to know that there was an issue; the second rep was excellent and gave me the information I needed right away. She seemed surprised that I had not received a phone call...in fact I only received a letter, dated Nov. 22, yesterday, after my statement would have been due. Why so sluggish? And your phone system is AWFUL. It is nearly impossible to figure out how to talk to a real person in any kind of timely manner, and by the time I got to one, I was angry and frustrated. My second example of a lack of good customer service occurred today. On November 7, I ordered hree pairs of shoes. One did not come, and the invoice was marked, plus I received a note in the package saying an item was missing. That's fine, except I was billed for it. Why do you bill for an item before you ship? I shop online frequently and can't think of anyone else who operates that way. On top of that, I sent a message through your website asking customer service when I could expect to see a credit, and received a lame response saying she had looked into it and all the shoes had been shipped. Really? That forced me back into your awful phone system to talk to another rep, who again solved the problem right away and credited my account. I like your new strategy, I like your brands, I like the way the store is starting to look. But I have no patience for bad customer service. And in your case, it seems like most of the inadequacies are with the automated/non-personal contact aspects. Store and marketing: 5 stars. Customer service: when it's human, 5 stars. Fix the rest.
Disappointed
Every year on Black Friday we make a point to begin our shopping at JC Penny. Normally we are very happy with the availability of certain products and the sales that are available to save us money. This year the sales are gone which sent us down the mall to shop at Sears. Because of jc Penny's lack of interest in their loyal customers, we will begin our Black Friday shopping at Sears next year. Usually we spend a bulk of our Christmas Budget at your store. Now it will be at Sears and we will unlikely be shopping at JC Penny.
Do you read your reviews
You new store set up doesn't work, you don't have any product to shop, the prices are ridiculous, no sales, no styles, no merchandise on the floor. You don't even have merchandise on line. Where has the JCP quality and name brand products gone? Hate to say it but Walmart a seconds store has better products. Im ready to close my account. By the way where has your customer service gone to also? If we wanted to shop Walmart or boutique stores then we would go there. People shopped JCP for there products and customer service and now you don't even have that.
I would just like to compliment you on the stand you took in allowing your employees to spend Thanksgiving with their families instead of bending to the pressures of the current trend in retail. It is a real shame that many of the stores alow the pressures and the $$$$$$ to dictate what is right. I do get it, I understand why and them are in the business to make money, but we are turning into a country of greed and are leaving the traditions in the dust. I believe in the end customers will honor your committment and other like you, Guess where I am going to start my Christmas shopping!!!1 Thanks.
Button campaign
Button campaign was a disaster. Reedemption should have been an in store peel or rub off, showing results instantly. Many people do not have a JCP store near them, making it hard to log on a computer (which some do not have), wait for a reply and then returning to the store, which can be many miles away. Many things have changed in JCP and women do not like them, they are taking their money to Macy's and Kohls.
Merchandise quality
I just watched the CEO's piece on CBS morning show and would like to comment that the reason I have not shopped at JCP recently is because the quality of the merchandise. In recent years I have shopped a lot at JCP for work and casual clothes. I purchased clothes this season that were cute but once I tried them on the quality and fit we're so poor I had to return them. I keep hoping the quality will improve next season
Customer
Just watched Mr. Johnson on the Sunday Morning TV show. Mr. Johnson I have been a very loyal customer of JCP for years but I am really disappointed at some of the changes. Some are great however, in making the changes, why did you have to "throw out" all the older customers?
JC Penney at present
I'm just writing this to inform management how disappointed I and my family and friends are at the present merchandise at JCP's. We have always shopped at JCP until the new changes came to pass. It is not the same merchandise as before, please return to old JCP. New prices do not matter when the merchandise is not even close to the quality of the past( and also the style of the past before the new changes)
children's "toy?"
What is the irresponsible thinking behind marketing tiny flasks designed for children? Please, please tell me you have made an error and you will be taking these off the shelves immediately. I would like to continue thinking about the JCPenny Corporation as a wholesome American institution, not as one that encourages alcoholism. Thank you.
Changes to Insure Failure
Having recently visited your local store, I was very dismayed at all of the changes. The impression I had was that you were going out of business versus a transformation. Not only were the isles huge as well as the cashier stands minimized to a measly few but so much of the merchandise was gone that it looked like a going out of business sale minus the sale. Now it has the look and feel of so many other retail stores, that of being minimal and clinical. It doesn't feel friendly or familiar. Not being a mall shopper most of the time, the few stores remaining that I felt comfortable going to and could rely on for the reasonable prices and excellent sales of good quality clothes no longer exists at Penneys. Sales don't make a department store less attractive, it makes it more attractive especially during these difficult economic tiimes. I don't believe that the prices were artificially inflated prior to the sales just to give the appearance of an actual sale, because as acomparison shopper, I know the sales prices were very reasonable. So now it appears that that penneys has jumped on the band wagon of permanently overly priced merchandise along with all of the other remaining department stores and mall retailers. I don't forsee a future for Penneys due to the changes. I foresee them going out of business, just like so many others, due to like so many others, not caring about what the customers want or need. When shopping in a department store like Penneys people want nostalgia and personalized customer service in their shopping experience. as well as reasonable prices and sales. Don't believe me, try asking your customers.
bring back st johns bay!
St Johns Bay had a large market of the over 30 age demographic. Bad marketing decision to try to gear your store to the teen shopper and drop the SJB brand. Teens do not usually have high enough discretionary income to purchase a lot and a heads up: your teen geared clothing is NOT popular with the younger folks. Stop offering poor quality, thin fabric clothing and bring back St Johns Bay.
Black Friday
I was very disappointed Jcpenny did not give out the snow globes this year! I look forward to my shopping & snow globe every year. Also the appliances that were $8 there was only very little quantity not even a large skit & was not able to purchase any! Very disappointing.
Ellen is back
I promised I wouldn't spend another dime with you guys last year when Ellen was doing the adevertisements. Your stocks fell what? 40%! You got rid of the ads I started buying again. The Ellen ads are back. This ends my business with JCP. Shame on your CEO.
Hello....
What is the problem can you not read the reviews, are your sales not down? Btw what's the deal with the very Wierd advertisements ? Nothing beneficial there. Also, thanks for the big Sephoria store too bad NONE of the employees know anything about makeup ! Seriously most reviews won't even provide one star! I don't even bother anymore take me to my Kohls cash plz
The Retail Scrooges
Actually this is a complaint against the wave of retail giants that has not reached the door of JCPenney. A new movement with retailers is to open their doors on thanksgiving day, forcing the staff to miss one of the few moments of joy that's found on that holiday. When an employee joins the retail world, sacrifices of time are expected. But when the greed of the executives steps on those moments a family wants-and needs- well it's time to draw a line. Thankfully, JC Penney is not among them. i thank you for not giving in to the spirit of greed and materialism and maintaining a spirit of giving back to your employees. I have posted an event on facebook titled 'Boycott the Retail Scrooges'. In it I let everyone know that JC Penney refuses to open their doors until black Friday am as usual (4am) and asked everyone to thank you. i will continue to tell everyone this season to honor your respect for the retail worker. I believe at the end of the season you will not regret your decision. Thank you, again!
I used to love Penneys- but now there is no reason to shop there! The clothes are over priced- the quality is terrible and without sales, I see no reason to even go in the store. The friends and family night they had at Christmas time was the best. I was able to buy a large amount of merchandise and save some money. I will not be shopping there this Christmas. I hope they get the message.
I am no longer a customer of JC Penney. The ad in the Sunday paper is now hideous being there is nothing to attract me to the store. It appears it's only for the young and restless. I no longer even open the ad. I've been to the JC Penney store only to see the changes that have been made. The layout and selection is awful! Do you have a big enough make up line?? If I were a teenager maybe I could make a purchase every now and then. There is absolutely NOTHING of interest to me in the JC Penney stores anymore. Thank you for your time. Leaviing Penneys
I must agree with the other posts here. There is little selection for petite misses. The few things I like are way over-priced. With Belks and Dillards in the same mall, there's no incentive to shop at Penney's with out sales, coupns and mark-downs. The sales people are few, and inexperienced staff. If you are trying for upscale, you need upscale employees. There seems to be no value here.
First of all, if I could give this less than 1 star, I would. In a nutshell, I had to wait an hour for a photo shoot with my 4 and a half month old son. Asked for a re-shoot, they were running late, came back before they told me to and then was told there were 3 other families in front of me (so, really, like an hour and a half to 2 hour wait). Thanks for lying to my face, JCP. NEVER AGAIN.
