JC Penney has been one of my all-time favorite stores. But that may be changing soon, pending corporate decisions re: having Ellen Degeneres as their spokesperson. Ellen IS representative of many American women. Being gay or straight is only part of who any woman is. She's a wonderful woman who has a great and entertaining show. She's been a spokesperson for Cover Girl cosmetics and I haven't noticed that company tanking because Ellen has been and continues to be their spokesperson. Bottom line: JC Penney: KEEP ELLEN AS YOUR SPOKESPERSON! I hope we're past the point where any individual's sexual orientation is an issue: it isn't and shouldn't be! Stop the hating!
What ever makes you think that a number of screaming people would entice me to come into your store to shop??? Your ad is THE most annoying and nerve shattering ad I have ever seen/heard. Until it is removed, I will not shop at Penney's.
Disturbing to think the "execs" think people will actually relate to this chronic screaming and blatant ignorance in their ad. That has done it for me as far as shopping there. Goodbye JCP. You should get 0 stars.
I have been a Penney's customer for many years and have two very large complaints. 1) Whoever designed and approved your new ads made a HUGE mistake. It will succeed in redesigning the JCP image allright--by destroying it! Truly stupid. Up until an hour ago that would have been my only complaint. However... 2)I just returned from having my hair shampooed and cut at the salon. I have been doing this for years. Now my stylist informs me that in the future JCP will require me to have it styled and dried. Well, excuse me Big Brother but just where do you get off telling me what I have to do with my hair? Are you in business to give customers the service they want or are you trying to establish a police state? This is definitely going to lose you salon customers and I will be one of them.
I have seldom, if ever, been so angered by a commercial that I felt compelled to tell the company involved that I will NEVER shop in their store again. I heard that you have a new owner who has elected to change the logo and do various other things in his initial bid for attention, but he has crossed a "stupidity" line with me that I won't get over. Terrible!!! You wanted attention? You got it. Color me GONE!!
I have never seen a more annoying ad, it isn't cute, it isn't funny, it is disturbing and upsetting every time I hear it. I have switched to cable network stations in the evening to avoiding having to listen to it. Really an ad that makes you switch the station or mute the TV. Your advertising agency has totally missed the mark.
Just saw JC Penney has hired Ellen Degeneres to do advertising for them. What an absolutely awful decision. She does not represent everyone in America. I am really taking into consideration of not shopping at JC Penney's anymore. Everyone that has any morals and values should consider this too. Let people know NOT EVERYONE agrees with what Ellen Degeneres represents!!!!!!!!!!
Let's see, JC Penney (commercials) boycotted Ellen's original comedy show in the late 90's and now they want her as a spokeswomen? Is this finally an apology JC Penney? Million Moms - you disgust humanity. So if your child grew up to realize their sexual orientation was homosexuality - you wouldn't love them anymore? Yes - I'm talking to YOU!!! Or will you be one of the million's of mom's who will cry at their child's grave site after they took their life because their mom or family or school bullies, or the world for that matter, stopped loving them or stopped showing them that they DO MATTER...and still wonder...why? I bet you even go to church...
Music from Mozart's Requiem, a sacred work, to advertise your newfangled pricing strategy? Really? Beyond tacky and squarely in OFFENSIVE. Don't you marketing gurus check this stuff?
I think that this stupid commerical has gotten people talking about JcPenny, but in a negitative manner. As a consumer it really makes me take a hard look at your intentions, and as a mother who already had issues with your children line of clothing, now it is really in the dumps. Having all of the questionable clothes that you have for young girls is really disturbing and now you have hired a person who is openly proud of their relationship with a person of the same sex. Ellen, gave American Idol a bad rap, and they lost lots of viewers because of it, now you have gone and not only changed the way you did business, but you made a questionable life style for lots of American families thrown in our faces. Just a customer for over 50 years, but I believe I will be moving on to other suppliers who dont have the same goals as you do. Free country, so enjoy your spiraling slide to the bottom.
I will not shop at J.C. Pennys any more. I consider it in poor taste to have a lesbian represent thier company. I have morals and values and this is no longer a Family oriented store. My family and friends refuse to shop with them any longer. Copoerate Headquarters will not listen to the publics concerns. Please do not think that your complaints, (or mine) will be taken into consideration. Hit 'em where it hurts...in their pocket book. By refusing to shop at J.C. Pennys we can take a stand.
I have not seen your ad and I guess I am fortunate not have seen it. My comment is that now could be your chance to be a big hit with middle class America. Enhance your new image by featuring a whole section of various products MADE IN AMERICA!! So many of us would like to buy American made if only we could find affordable quality made American products. I for one am sick of sending all our money to foreign countries, especially China. I am sick of it and want to help boost our failing economy and encourage others to do the same. At least I give Menard's credit because periodically their ad features all products made in America. Great idea, why didn't Penney's think of something like this??
95% of your long slacks in sizes 8 to 24 are SHORT. I am 5 ft 10 inches, 170 lbs, and I am not short nor am I fat. I wear a 14 or 16 but by no means SHORT. If you stocked slacks in REGULAR you would sell a lot more slacks. In fact I was at Penny's today but came away empty handed even though prices were good. All slacks were SHOrT. Sorry, but I bought at Belks. Pmish9@aol.com
A better television commercial for the icon JC Penny store would be a happy montage of generations of families looking through the catalogs of the past. It's a respectable, fantastic store. It should be portrayed as such. The current commercial is banal and insulting to one's intelligence. It's just horrifying to imagine the contempt of the people who allowed it for those of us who have loved the store for so long. They underestimate us and under-value us. Pity. Who thought up that logo? Did you know that the JCPennys' name is a United States Icon. It's like Coke or Kellogs Corn Flakes. And do you realize that when you change things that much, just ask Coke about things like that. In reality who has all the money at the moment. I don't think it is a high school student. So maybe after this large age group is dead and gone. Then maybe it might be a good idea to mix things up a bit. Until then I would hope that you would regain your senses and come back home. Oh did you know that JCPenny ( spoken in french accent), was considered above Sears did you? And that commerical, it gets your attention alright. I click it off.
MY RATING> MINUS 10. Is this loud enough for you? I agree with every message that I read from Christine Swalgin to Jason all on 1/30/12. Some people need a head examination big time.
You have got to be kidding me. How could you possibly think the average American would want to sit in their living room and listen to people screaming on TV. This has to be the worst ad in the history of TV. You may want to consider finding a new advertising agency and you may also want to give a second thought to whoever approved the ad. I can't even leave the ad on long enough to make sense of what point is trying to be made. If it were possible to give this ad a minus grade, I would do so. PLEASE TAKE IT OFF THE AIR NOW!!!
I will not be shopping at your store since you have added Ellen DeGeneres as your spokesperson. I am tired of how this country continues to cave in to a small minority group. There are too many neutral spokespeople you could have chosen.
Please stop running the 'screaming' commercial. You are alienating consumers and annoying them to the point that many people have stated they will no longer shop with you because of this spot. I cannot imagine that your intent was to leave consumers filled with anger and distate when JC Penney is mentioned. An advertising agency came up with horrible creative and it was approved by someone in your company. That doesn't inspire confidence in your marketing department, or your company. This was a horrible idea and shouldn't have made it out of the very first creative meeting at the ad agency. I would dump the spot, the agency and whoever approved this mess at your company.
It is not bad enough that the volume on TV ads are cranked up several octives but JCP has taken it to a disgusting new level with it's screaming mimi ad...What were your ad ppl thinking? WHAT A TURN OFF~~ it knocks you off your seat~~ grates on your nerves and is completely infantile~ it has to be the WORSE ad EVER~~ We have 4 dogs and they all start to bark when this ad comes on~~ It is a race to the remote to mute the volume or change the channel~~ I am cutting up my JCP charge card~~ You must REALLY BE DESPERATE to run such dribble, and delusional to think it would make ppl want to shop in your store~~ ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING~ Your ad agency needs to get the boot~~
