Dear Mr. Francis and Mr. Johnson, I have been a long time shopper at Penney's, spending over $1100 there in 2011. I am sorely disappointed at your controversial choice of Ellen DeGeneres as your spokesperson. Families of many persuasions shop there for quality goods at reasonable prices. You have forced principled people to make a decision on whether to make purchases at Penney's NOT based on quality or prices but based on their own moral determinations. That should never be the way that any merchant asks its customers to decide where to shop. Your corporate decision has also caused a firestorm of nastiness and name calling. Therefore, I, with regret, will no longer shop at Penney's.

Thank you to JC Penney CEO Ron Johnson for your couageous stand to choose Ellen Degeneres as your spokesperson and to stand by that decision. I have been a long time shopper at JC Penney for the quality and value for dollar that I've found there, but now I have one more reason to shop there, corporate integrity, which is so rare these days. I don't get to the mall as often as I used to, but JC Penney, you will be my first stop when I do. By the way, I am 60ish heterosexual female, who believes the real clue to our values lies not in what religious text we read or don't read, but how we behave toward our fellow humans.

I am sad to say that I will NO longer shop at JCPenny due to the fact that JCPenny has hired Ellen. I dont think it is right to hire a homosexual spoke person when most of the customers are traditional families. Believe it or not, not everyone is gay in CA and not everyone supports that!

I too as a "straight" woman want to congradulate you for keeping Ellen Degeneres as a spokesperson. I for one, trust her, and have never heard her say anything negative about anyone! I haven't shopped Pennys for a while but I promise I will now.

Kudos to you for standing on your principles and retaining Ellen as your spokesperson. The negatives posted here show an obvious lack of compassion and, even worse, a complete lack of information regarding homosexuality. I wonder how many of your complaining customers even know if the associate waiting on them at the cash register is gay or not. Of course they don't! It doesn't or shouldn't matter. Being gay has nothing to do with a persons integrity, honesty, dedication, hard work, and compassion. Being gay makes up as much of a persons whole being as much as being heterosexual does...about 10%. I doubt sexual orientation takes up any more time than that for most people. The rest of your time deals with who you are the other 90%, which is the really important part like going to work and how you treat people the rest of your day. No, I'm not gay but I have a son who is and he is the same decent person he was before he came out. Stop being ignorant and at least do some homework on understanding homosexuality if you are going to preach about it! And to Liz Hicks in a previous post: the little girl is stranded on a see saw that is stuck in the snow and she is innocently wiggling to try to pry it lose! What a filthy mind you must have! Ellen is just the kind of person I would want celebrating what my company has to offer.

Thank you for making the right decision in the first place (naming kind-hearted & kind-humored Ellen as a spokesperson). But a bigger thank you for being brave enough to stand by your decision instead of caving under to political pressure. Way to live up to your new "fair and square" brand! You have earned my shopping loyalty, and from what I see on FaceBook, that of many of my friends (and friends of friends). We are straight, we go to church, we believe in inclusiveness, and we shop!

My husband and I are Christians who follow Christ daily and do not believe in any way shape or form of homosexuality. We have been shopping at Penney's since we were married 54 years ago and now we are taking a strong stand against hiring Ellen DeGeneres to be a spokesman for your company, so the shopping is over at Penney's. It is very disappointing to us for we love their clothes, but we have to answer to our Creator in the end and cannot be in favor of this behavior of Ellen DeGeneres. We have several family members also that have shopped at Penney's. God destroyed 2 cities of Sodom and Gomorrah for homosexuality and the Bible says in the New Testament Romans Chapter 1 verses 26-28 "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections; for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature; and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient". We will not be shopping anymore at Penney's unless they hire a spokesman who lives up to lives up to the highest morals and values. May God help our Nation for these people need our prayers that they will find Christ while Christ still may be found.

We are Christians and we have been shopping at your store 50 years. Now that you have lowered your moral standards and hired Ellen DeGeneres, we feel her life style is a conflict to our Faith. As long as she is working there, we will no longer shop at your store. Read Romans Chapter 1 Verses 26-27.

THANK YOU JC PENNY! You may loose some "clearence rack, shopping on a budget mom's" but you have just gained a million more in customers whom actually spend money, and tons of it! Ellen is an amazing person, and standing up beside her sends a positive message to the world. KUDOS! Keep it up! With this you just gained 8 people in my household who will be avid supporters and shoppers at your store.

My wife and I love JC Penny and our extended family love JC penny and we will continue shopping at JCPenny from now on because of the quality of merchandise, bargains and for the fact they you have Ellen degeneres has spokesperson We love Ellen because she's a genuine decent honest person of high morales and I love way she dances.. Thanku JCPenny for not folding to a bunch of nazi rightwing counterfeit fake christian extremist they almost make me ashame to be a republican and a christian..We love u JCPenny and thanks for not compromising ur integrity...

I want to thank you for keeping Ellen Degeneres as your spokesperson. She is genuinely kind, compassionate and overall a positive, uplifting influence. The decision to keep her as your spokesperson regardless of the negative controversy regarding her personal lifestyle, will keep me as a loyal customer!

I have been a customer of JCP for many years and made lots of purchases in 2011. As a Christian I cannot support you hiring Ellen Degeneres as the spokesperson for your company. Naturally the world view is turning more and more against Christian values. However as a believer I cannot support your decision for Ellen to be the spokesperson for your company. Are you that desperate for representation.

All I can say is GOODBYE JC PENNYS, after shopping there for 50 years ,I will no longer support a store who support such an ungodly lifestyle...I do not hate Ellen Degeneres but I do hate her lifestyle , which is anti God, and anti Bible.I do pray she will see the light and change before she meets God face to face.

I have boycotted jcpenneys for many years when they pulled out of sponsoring the Ellen show....although I am confused by the turn around I am happy to hear they have changed their minds.

I am 64 years old and have been a loyal customer for over 50 years but as of now I will no longer purchase from your store and will cancel my Penny's charge card. the appointment of ellen degeneres as a spokesperson for your store is a total disgrace. It is bad enough that our schools and society is trying to portray homosexuality as a common lifestyle now even you are trying to do the same. Remember Sodom and Gamorah was destroyed by God for the same activity. an ex customer.

Dear Mr. Ron Johnson: I have a mixed review for your performance as CEO of JCPenney thus far: 1) I applaud you for streamlining prices and making them simple for consumers -- i.e., $20 instead of $19.99. I enjoy your Worthington brand and have bought many career clothes from this line. 2) I think you could have made a better choice of Spokesperson than Ellen DeGeneres. I am not one of the "Million Moms," although I understand their position. I also have many gay friends and do not think any lesser of them as people because of their sexual preference. The problem is that many of your customers shop at JCPenney because it's a positive experience to buy quality clothes at a reasonable price. They don't want to be embroiled in controversy or have to take sides. Your choice of Ms. DeGenenes puts them in a position they shouldn't be in. There are so many other non-controversial celebrity figures, musicians, actresses, female athletes, or role models that would have been a better choice. Please think this through the next time. Thank you.

Thank you for your recent decision to retain Ellen DeGeneres has the spokeswoman of JCP. I have been a infrequent shopper at JC Penney in the past. However, your recent changes in pricing and your standing for the real traditional values of honesty, integrity, compassion and acceptance by hiring Ellen will make me a JCP Shopper. I will be in your store this weekend to open a JCP Charge Account and will be making some purchases.

Bravo for standing by your decision to keep Ellen Degeneres. I am a wife, mother and grandmother and a Christian. I have shopped at JCPenney for over 50 years and I am sick and tired of bigots trying to dictate who should and should not be allowed to represent a company, a product, or anything else. Most of those people claim to be Christians, but in my opinion they are anything but. Bravo JCPenney!!!

THANK YOU!!! Thank you for not being bullied into firing Ellen!!! Million Moms is terriosm at its finest! Ellen does so many good things for so many people and I think she represents what real Family Values are about!!!!

I am so happy that JC Penney supports Ellen and so do I! Today I had a sales representative over to my home because we just added a new sunroom to our home and my husband and I are going to spend over three thousand dollars on new shades from JCP! We love Ellen and we will continue to support JCP! Thank you!
