Totally support your decision to hire Ellen. I guess I wouldn't have necessarily cared or noticed one way or the other, until the OMM group threatened their little hateful boycott. Now, I'm on a mission to show support for Ellen and your decision by shopping at JCP at least once a month. I spent $50 there last weekend. By the way, love what you've done with the place :)

I will no longer shop at JC Penney. My husband is a surgeon and I am sending an email now to the 500 other doctors that he is associated with. Most are Christian and will definitely boycott JC Penney.

I am tired of the gay and lesbian community forcing their lifestyle on the American families. Their shockingly embarrassing parades where everyone is wearing thongs and naked dancing down the street. The have caused such harm to the wholesome families of this world. I will not be shopping at Penny's anymore. Ellen does good things and is generous to others, but that does not erase the fact that she is living in blasphemy and mocking God. I for one do not think she is suitable for promoting good family values. Penny's is foolish to promote her to sell their products.

I agree with Carolyn, Ellen although she appears to be a kind person, is living an anti God lifestyle and an anti Bible lifestyle. How and why would any company want to have her as the spokesperson? It is just plain wrong. What next, a black leather gay thong isle for men.

Ellen does not represent Godly family values. She is a lesbian and is married to another woman. What is the world coming to when a store glorifies this women and hires her to be their spokesperson? She is living a lifestyle against God. I am sorry everyone who supports here says you are a hater, when in reality they are the haters of God's word. I will stand with Gods word before I cave in to the permissive society our world has turned into. Soon it will be ok for people to marry animals and adopt kids. Trust me this could happen without God in our laws.

You know---I am pretty sure that past spokespeople have been 'fornicators', adulterers, drug users, liars--whatever. Certainly there was a nice cross section of 'sinners'. But the mommies didn't worry about their children getting corrupted by them! No, this isn't about Christian values. This is about hatred, cloaked in the face of Jesus. It is an old trick. All hatred can be justified. At least now I know I won't have to shop next to a bigoted hater.

Bad choice for a spokesperson,I do not agree with Ellen's lifestyle choice. We just decided to NOT shop at Penneys anymore.I shopped there for 38 years,but no more.

You don't know anyone gays or have any gay family members? How do you go shopping? You only shop at stores that no gays work at? How do you eat out? Never had a gay waiter? I'm sure all of the gays and lesbians in the contry are supporting your decision to hire Ellen. If she stands for the things that JCP stands for then as far as I'm concerned I and my family will be shopping elsewhere. I don't hate Ellen and I'm sure God loves her but her lifestyle is not consistent with his plan for our lives. Consequently, I have a clothing item I just received yesterday, which I ordered before I heard the CEO lunatic make his pitch for Ellen, which I will be returning to JCP on Monday for credit. If you Mr. CEO have daughters and since you are so happy with her image maybe you could arrange for one of them to marry Ellen. As a former corporate CEO I hope this works out for you but I doubt it will.

THANK YOU JC PENNEY.. Ellen is the epitome of honesty.. bright, charming and all that is good about a person.. If people don't shop at your store because of employees or spokespersons who don't meet their particular standards.. you don't need them.

I have never really shopped at Penny's, but I will now! Congratulations to you for standing for your ideals and Ellen. In this day and age of senceless hate, you stood up to them. I spend my money were it counts and you count. Nice job.

I was really looking forward to going to the J C Penney in my town with the new pricing. BUT not now! I am so sorry that J C Penney corporation has chosen Ellen D as their spokes person. My family has shopped at J C Penney for over 50 years, but no longer. I cannot spend my money at a business that pays Ellen to be their spokes person. Why do you think you have to have a "personality" to be a spokes person? Why couldn't you SAVE THE THOUSANDS OR MILLIONS you are paying her and cut your prices even more?

Don't care for Ellen. Liked the Doorbusters and coupons, and birthday gifts from JCP. My shorts went up 7-10 dollars at the new prices, We spent alot, but we are done with JCP. Better change something fast, it was alot slower in the women's dept. on a Saturday morning without the doorbusters, and slow in the store in general. Now Ellen to get rid of more customers, common.

I just watch CEO Johnson's defending the decision to have Ellen as a spokesperson. Cannot figure why they even want one or need one. Something he said about sharing "values"brings me to this point. Sorry but this decision does not reflect my values or any Christian values. No more shoopping at JC Penny for me. So Long!!

JCP was my first credit card when I was 19.I have always shopped there and love the friendly service,the styles, quality and prices.I am an employee and have been for a few years after running my business for yrs and tired of being "boss" I just wanted to have fun. When I went work at JCP I read about the founder "James Cash Penney" I urge anyone who writes on this blog to read on wiki before posting. What everyone on here has seemed to forgot is MR.Penney's high moral standards and the fact he was a born again christian! Can't say, (as a christian)" he would of never allowed this, and would roll in his grave! "Our world is changing in all aspects with people becoming more liberal and our world more corrupt" or as a (homosexual believer or non-believer) "he was a good man that showed love and fairness to everyone and would have loved Ellen as spokesperson. The thing we all need to think about is he founded this company in early 1900's based on integrity,hard work and morals. I am a christian...on the side of "christians" homosexuality isn't moral according to the Bible, nor the principals and family values that we want to install in our children. So with all the many, many actors or actress's why choose someone...Controversial,gay and someone we don't know if the founder would agree to for the company he built up for 100 yrs. There are people like,Michael J.Fox:we would make all the "Parkinson's people happy to shop at JCP,Denzel Washington:then we would have all the black people happy,then there is Hilliary Clinton,then we would be loved by all the democrats,there is always Larry the cable guy...we would get every hillbilly out there and last but not least an animated figure like "Shreck" we would get all the kid's begging there parents to shop at JCP and maybe,this was the safest and best choice! My point is no matter who you have, someone is going to have their opionion and like it or hate it! What I'm trying to express to the new shoppers and the lost shoppers, who I hate to see go...all this bickering,name calling, witch hunt happening is not worth the frustration,hurt feelings,unkind words and so on. JCP lost customers and Christians like myself "can you throw the stone?" I know I can't!! Even tho I don't agree with the choice,I will continue on with a company that I love and protect! You are only hurting yourself for not shopping at JCP anymore... 1. Losing great savings in an economy where every cent matters,2.Friendly Service,3.Great Customer Service,4.Quality Merchandise and 5.last the most important thing is...You are allowing part of our population (homosexuals) to rob you of all those things you have enjoyed for years. My suggestion would be "walk softly," "don't jude,leave it up to God to handle" and be the other voice inside JCP like Jesus would want!! I am absolutely indifferent to Ellen. I don't have a thing against her, nor do I care about her particularly. I couldn't care less who the spokesperson for anything is. If Christina Hendricks were spokesperson for JCP, I wouldn't shop there again after their ridiculous screaming commercials assaulted my TV. I will say Ellen was really funny in the late 80's/early 90's when she did her stand up in a vest and tie and tennies. Since she doesn't do that anymore, she's not on my radar, but I KNOW I hate JCP for their stupid commercials. If Ellen screams at me during their commercials I certainly won't like her.
